I needed to have the roof replaced on the estate house within 30 days for insurance purposes. I contacted Vaz Construction and was connected with Elijah DeSouzs as my project manger. He was the best. Kept in touch with me on a timely basis, always on time for on-site appointments, knowledgeable about the roof products and friendly and kind. We were able to get the job done within my time frame. The roofing crew worked from morning until night and they were great! They left no mess or debri in the yard. If you need any construction work done, call Vaz and ask for Elijah. You won't be sorry.

What started off seeming like a good company, ended up not being so good. One guy would be there for three days and then someone new would show up and have no clue what the last guy did. One of the employees painted the bathroom walls without even wiping the walls down after sanding. What a mess and it had to all be redone, which I am sure would not have happened if I did not complain. At one point, I had to tell the project manager that I did not want anyone in my home until I met with him. The lack of craftsmanship, and integrity was upsetting to say the least. Who puts kitchen cabinets in before painting??? Once the job was complete, it took Vaz Construction another month to come back and finish the things that were not completed. Overall the experience was very disappointing, even more-so with the amount of money they charged us for their sub par work.

They renovated our family room after the pipes froze several winters ago and did a fantastic job. Next was new shingles that replaced the most hideous siding that had ever been manufactured. With ever interaction Dan Speakman has been a man of his word, always follows through, and stands behind the craftsmanship of his team Just as important his is a wonderful guy. Even if they had come in with the best price we still would not have used then - if you can't trust the first point of contact to respect what you want then what confidence are you supposed to have with any of their team? Update: Sorry Stephanie but I have to disagree with your response. You are right in that we cancelled the follow up meeting - we were told we would receive a 'report' a couple of days after the initial meet - that didn't materialize so we asked to cancel the follow up and just get the quote. As for the add-ons - my husband SPECIFICALLY said we did not want gutters as ours were not that old - Alex added in new gutters, downspouts, leaf guards - why do that when you have been told we did not want them. It's not that difficult when a customer says 'I just want James Hardie Siding in Deep Ocean Blue and Artic White Trim to replace what we have now - measure it up and quote' - where in that conversation does it say 'but please go away and add in anything else you might like to see on our home? I appreciate as a company you have a system of how you do things with visits etc, however, it is not one size fits all - you still have to listen to the customer, and in this instance, your potential customer was ignored. We gave the exact same brief to 4 separate siding companies, yours was the only one that came back with a proposal that listed several things we specifically said we didn't want, or that were added in unnecessarily. This is an account of our experience with Care Free Homes, so we will have to agree to disgree.

The main thing for me is that the owner, Charlie Marzot, is trustworthy and professional. His crew are completely capable. We asked a lot of questions and were kept abreast of developments as they happened. There were inevitable unforeseen issues but these were presented well and unavoidable. The schedule was close and the budget was accurate. There were communication and process issues which I really think are likely common to any project like this. There is a fundamental imbalance in knowledge between customers like myself, who do this once or twice in a lifetime, and professionals who do this for their careers. This makes it hard to, for example, review a contract and work description and know if it answers all the questions that will arise. I didn't always know what to look for or how to interpret some items. Charlie, however, was always forthcoming and he and his crew were all friendly and great. I've already recommended them to several friends looking for work.

I had a tree come down last Fall and damaged my roof enough for it to need to have a lot of work…read morecompleted before winter. I received multiple bids on the project and Brian from SGC seemed to be the most reliable candidate for the job and had a reasonable bid so I hired them. I had them do work that included re-shingling, replacing the rakers and fascia, and also adding gutters. Brian and his brother worked over the course of 5 days to complete the job. I was working from home during this time frame so I was able to see how their work progressed. They work slow but they are very meticulous and detail oriented. My roof looks great now. I had a positive experience and would recommend using SGC property maintenance. Brian and his brother are good at what they do and the price for the amount of work I had done was reasonable. They performed quality work on my property and I would use them again for other repair projects.

Passed a Harbor Homes work site today... what a mess on the lawn. After my past experience with…read moreHarbor Homes and all the negative postings I can't fathom why anyone would use then for the smallest job. In my case I still find problems with their work. I had to initiate a formal hearing brought against Harbor Homes with MA State Board of Licensing. The licensing board found unsatisfactory business practices and assessed fines against them. I feel for the poor people using them.

We have had nothing but problems with Harbor Homes. Two years to the day we are still not done and continually find problems. We have finally decided to bring a home inspector in to go through the house with a fine tooth comb to try and get all of the issues resolved which will never get done by hh. Just a few problems to mention; crooked moldings, plumbing and electrical issues, multiple Floods, tiling issues, splitting of floors and woodwork. Horrible horrible craftsmanship. Bottom line there was no supervision at all. Never the same subs. Absolutely no pride taken in their work. Harbor homes put a wooden tent sign on our yard for advertising. Somehow it fell over and sat in the mud for over six months. That says it all. We have started a support group for irate hh customers who have all had the same experiences with these people. Never have we seen such dishonest, immoral, disrespectful and unprofessional people. None of us can figure out how they stay in business. Do not use them!!!!! Highly dishonest, but worse, horrible builders!!!
