I've been desperately searching for a nail salon since I moved to Brooklyn and after 8 months I finally found this wonderful salon!!! All the technicians seemed to be having a great day, all laughing and smiling! One of them was teaching the others a magic trick which was so cute. Vianna did these gorgeous festive cat eye gel nails on me and I adore them. My biggest pet peeve when getting my nails done is the shaping. They always come out wrong, but Vianna spent no joke like 40 minutes shaping my nails and they are PERFECT. I also took the leap from SNS Powder to UV Hard Gel. Randomly decided to come here one day during my lunch break for a French pedicure. I was overwhelmed with the fact that I never seem to get this and only reserve the French pedicure for something big or special. I decided today was just as good a day as any, and I walked right in. I was greeted and asked if I had gel or polish and said no, and was told to sit in the back in a pedicure chair. After about 5-7 minutes, Fancy came to do my pedicure in the most delicate and caring way. I am not sure how seasoned of a nail tech Fancy is, but she was so careful and even suggested to give me a different nail polish because she said it was too white and I wouldn't see the French tip. She did a great quick leg massage too which was another nice bonus. I got just a regular French pedicure; no spa treatment since I was on my lunch hour. The massage chair was powerful and functioned well as I sat watching Fancy work. Between the service and tip, I paid $52 cash. They are a "cash-only" establishment, which I should've looked up or asked beforehand, so I had to use their ATM in the back. One star removed because their nail dryer was lacking in drying power and took a bit longer than usual to make sure my polish was completely dry. I'll be back again to see Fancy! read more

I have heard great things about this salon, so I hate to write this review. Hopefully my experience was just on an off day for them. I left with extremely thick, wide, and bumpy nails. I brought in a photo of nail art I wanted for my new set of UV gel-x nails and made sure to ask if they were okay with doing a detailed design. They said they were, but the job was clearly rushed even though I had an appointment. I have never had nails with such a chunky texture, and all over, not just the places with detailed art. I called the next day, sent photos as requested, and was told I could get the set redone for no charge but I wouldn't be able to make an appointment for this service, would have to sign onto their waitlist a couple hours before coming in, and hope for the best as they said they couldn't guarantee anything. Given watching others have long waits, employees literally running around the salon, and reviews bemoaning wait times, it just doesn't seem worth it. I was also told that is was inconvenient for the salon as it would take a while but they didn't even offer an apology for the situation. To their credit, the art came out somewhat decent, although one thumb is particularly problematic. (see photos) also to their credit, I received a Jelly pedicure that was quite pleasant but worth noting it was done by a different technician. My friend had raved about this salon for years but I didn't know if I could find the time with it being in BK and I'm on the UES. I finally went -- twice. The full set was reasonably priced (around 75$) and they can do pretty much any design. The tech didn't get too frustrated with my indecisiveness. I didn't love the wait process. I couldn't tell if it was appointment friendly but it seemed like whether you waited or had a preset appointment you were waiting at least 30-45 min minimum for the next seat to open. Aside from the nice design I got done, I don't recommend this place. I made an appointment 3+ weeks in advance and they still were an hour late to my appointment. They switched my nail technician 3 different times while getting my nails done too, which was unhelpful because I had to tip 3 separate times. Additionally, my nails chipped one week into getting them done which never happens to me anymore when I get gel or dip. I was at the nail salon for 4+ hours total and did not have a great experience. I went in at 12:30 for a gel mani/pedi. I wanted a simple design with flowers on my nails (it seems like they pride themselves on design according to their instagram page). However, the woman doing my nails kept messing up and had to continuously remove the design and do it again and again until they had another woman try... she couldn't do it either. They had to ask another woman (who was doing someone else's nails) to do it. She ended up doing a great job. I went back to wash my hands and noticed paint on my finger tips. The woman used clippers to take it off because the alcohol remover wasn't working. (which winded up meaning her clipping my skin, thankfully it didn't hurt). I feel bad for writing a review like this because my nails don't look horrible, however i was there for over 2 hours. I was expecting them to give me some sort of discount for the amount of time it took them to do this design... but nope. I will not be returning unfortunately :( PSA: I've been home for 2 hours and the top coat layer is coming off. Not only that but it's so fun to be around the ladies at Tina's - everyone is always super jolly and cheerful. Especially Tina who is super attentive to all her clients. When she isn't working on a single client, she's working on all.. LOL - she comes over to check how everything is going and does her own little inspection to make sure all her clients are happy and satisfied. I used to come to this nail salon when I lived in the neighborhood. I have since moved but every now and then I'll make the effort to go back for a mani/pedi. I convinced my friend to come with me recently because I raved about the quality of the work and great nail designs. Unfortunately, I left very disappointed with the manicure I received. I showed Ansel a photo of the design I wanted. My nails were currently squared but since the photo's nails were rounded he rounded my nails without even asking. The photo was for the design only. I wasn't even using the same colors or getting the same nail length. I've never not had a nail technician ask how I want my nails shaped but if he was going to make an assumption he should have at least gone with the current shape that I had. In addition to this, his filing job wasn't even or symmetrical. I also had paint on many of my fingers when it was finished and he did too many layers of gel to the point where it looked SO thick. The design wasn't straight and didn't look like what I had showed him. I have had great designs and manicures from here before. I know that manicures aren't going to look perfect but this really wasn't good at all. I left wanting to soak it off as soon as I got home. As a salon that prides itself on its nail art, especially on Instagram, everyone should be able to produce the same quality. If not, then they should be passed to someone that can do the job correctly. I don't usually complain but this manicure was just bad all around. I really couldn't find a single thing that I liked about it. I've had other experiences with Ansel before and wasn't very happy with the job he did. If I come back, I will always ask for someone other than him from now on. He just doesn't seem to care about quality or attention to details. The manicure only lasted for a week before they started lifting. Ugh. I wanted to like this place so much. Forever on the hunt for a good, affordable nail salon. I have had my nails done here about 6 times. It's been a hit or miss, it really depends on who you get. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because it is better than most nail salons in NYC in a similar price range or lower. But that's not saying much because any nail salon that is affordable in NYC sucks. I am writing this review specifically because I came here for Apres Gel-X nails which they advertise on their service lists. they are NOT actual apres Gel-x. The entire reason I like Apres gel X is because they are natural looking and shape is already perfect. No thick looking nails, just sleek and perfect. They instead do some kind of gel bead, similar to acrylic almost. And as we all know, if you're not skilled in doing acrylic, your nails come out looking super chunky and fake. I thought it was a miscommunication when she first started doing my nails so I spoke up and she told me it's the same thing. No it isn't. My nails came out looking awful because of the thickness of acrylic looking nails. I hated them so much. To make matters worse the woman who did my nails had an attitude with me the whole time. I told her to cut my nails shorter because I wanted short nails. she said "you're not going to like them". Mam how would you know what I like? I made the mistake of trusting the process and ended up with the opposite of what I wanted, which was long, thick, fake looking nails. The lady who did my nails had an attitude with me the entire time. Rolling her eyes and sighing and making it known I was being annoying to her. I really didn't understand what I was doing that was annoying her so bad so I was trying to just be quiet and chill. I was trying hard to be nice because I know we all have our bad days sometimes and we don't care about work. I get it. I would've dealt with the attitude if she had the skills to back her attitude up but it just made everything worse. My main takeaway is do NOT go here if you're specifically looking for apres gel x and you like the really thin, natural, sleek nail look. read more

I am new to New York and was intrigued by the prices here so I called at around 12:30, they put me on the list and said come by in an hour. Got there around 1:30 and they got working at 1:45 so I have no complaints about the timing!! I got a SNS dip manicure with tips and then just a regular pedicure for $75 all together. Wasn't a fan of how much she rushed my pedicure and then it was all smudged before I even left the salon which always makes me sad lol. However!!! She did such a meticulous job on my manicure and they look great. They removed my old black polish and it stuck around my cuticles so that's my main complaint. After being on the waitlist for 3 hours and waiting physically in the salon for 1+ hours I ran out of time to get the nails I wanted and I settled on a basic gel manicure with no extensions, designs, or chrome like I intended to get. I decided to make an appointment to try and avoid this problem, but even when I have had appointments I have been seated up to 2.5 hours after they were scheduled for. Then they gave me a voucher for $10 off for waiting, which expired in a couple weeks so I was unable to use it. I came in to get my gel manicure removed and it took them TWO HOURS to remove it. I don't know if they didn't have the materials necessary or what, but I've never experienced that in my life. Made an appointment via Snailzmani and was seated right away. When I walked in, there were a lot of people waiting and just sitting in any available chair possible. They had to ask one of the customers to move from the stool so they could set up a table for my manicure. FC had to sit in on a pedicure seat while getting a manicure. It was a very different experience than what I'm used to at other nail salons. The lady removed my nail polish, filed and buffed my nails. The tools she used to remove my cuticles were taken from another table. I didn't see them having a machine to sanitize the tools so it was rather disgusting. I still had a lot of cuticle leftover and the nail polish was also on my skin. I did like that she asked me if I liked the color after painting one nail. After that I walked over to the nail drying station and it was so gross. It looked like it had not been cleaned for a while. She gave me a back rub with my jacket on and that was it.
