This is for everyone that had there tint done at TintMaster808. Had my car tinted in 2020 by Lacy. When it was TintMasterLacy. In 2025 took it in to have some warranty work done on the rear window because of bubbling. Johnny scraped off enough of the rear defrost lines rendering the defroster useless. And still charged me $100. I had to pay $650 for a whole new back window! When I called him he said he told me that there was a possibility that the defroster wouldn't work after. Certainly there is a way of removing tint without the use of a scraper with a razor blade. He then told me that this is Hawai'i and no one uses there rear defroster anyway! Unbelievable! We had agreed on him paying for half the price of the window and he still couldn't honor that agreement. Coming up short. And when asked about the charge for warranty work that the manufacturer pays him to do he couldn't come up with a decent answer. Even though he posts videos on social media saying that there is no charge to the customer for warranty work! I have talked to people saying that Lacy would have done right and took care of this entirely. So to everyone that has gone here and had good things to say just know that you better be ready to pay for warranty work that Llumar pays him to do and there is a high potential that your rear defroster won't work if you have the back tint replaced here. It's a shame that this guy is ruining his dads business. He also told me after putting the tint on to tell all my boys about him. I did. Told them to tell all there boys to tell there boys to never go to this guy. He posts about being best in the west. Far from it in my opinion. Good luck to all of you. read more

I have visited Tint Master Lacy in old industrial 3 or 4 times, over the years. He has always been there, gives a reasonable price and a lifetime warranty. The warranty can be used nationwide if you ever ship the car off island. Not that I have ever needed to use the warranty, it has been quality work and name brand tinting film. The price has always been reasonable with several "grades" of film to choose from. I always get the lowest (least expensive) and have been happy with all the tint jobs. I'm sure the nicer stuff worked even better, but I'm usually on a tight budget. They have a nice waiting area with WiFi if you want to wait there, or go for a walk to the beach or the brew pup while they fix you up. read more

I contacted Lacy ahead of booking the job to inquire about the products used, installation technique, pricing, and estimated installation time for my car. He gave me an estimated time of 2-3 hours for installation and decent pricing and at the time he had good reviews online so I booked it. But I wish I hadn't. He is unprofessional and really just a glorified sociopath. He puts on a good front, he seems charming and knowledgeable upon initial meeting, but that all quickly fades away once you get through that superficial layer. He takes pride in thinking he is supremely better than everyone else in business and is easily offended and acts like a victim when confronted. So please learn from my experience and I really hope that that this review and corresponding photos can help at least one person from wasting their time or money with this guy. When I brought my car in it took him FIVE hours to finish my car- and let me tell you, the result were absolutely horrid. There was bubbles on every single window he did besides the driver window! There was dirt trapped under a ton of spots and the tint was cut sloppily on some of my smaller windows (as seen on the attached photo collage- which doesn't even show it all). When I picked up my car I didn't end up looking very closely at the job, my fault, and he had pulled it out of the garage into the sun so it was hard to see any flaws regardless but I did catch one large "finger" on one of the rear windows and brought it to his attention which he tried fixing at the time, all the while saying some bs excuse and stating that it would settle in a few days. Keep in mind this was a huge spot that never settled and was clearly due to faulty installation. But I took it home anyways, waited 6 days for the tint to fully cure and was horrified by the results once I did a full thorough walkthrough around my car in the shade to see the job he did. I contacted him with photos of my tint and his response was "that looks like shit. Doesn't look like my job that's for sure." And told me to bring my warranty card and receipt to a stated time and day and continued to say that that this wasn't his job and that he "doesn't do shit like that". And continued to say that "something looks fishy" implying that I was trying to rip him off or something. But regardless I took it all with a grain of salt and took my car in to his chosen time and day. He removed and replaced the tint for free, which is the only reason I gave him an extra star in addition to the fact that he uses really high quality tint (which is useless if the install is awful, but that's beside the point). He took 3 hours the second time around- which keep in mind he removed his previous tint job and reinstalled. Whereas when I first brought my car in it had completely bare windows yet somehow it took him 5 hours to do a horrible job. And when I picked it up, with my boyfriend this time, he pointed out a scratched area on my driver side window (the ONLY window initially that was installed correctly without flaws initially). But I will take that one flaw over the countless ones the first time around. He tried to claim that the first installment was due to the film being defective- which was a complete lie. Even if that was the case, he would've been able to see the flaws as soon as he finished a window but I'm guessing that he assumed that I wouldn't have noticed the poor work if it wasn't on my driver window. However my boyfriend used to tint windows and when he saw the job he was angry to say the least. And said that the result was clearly due to improper cleaning of the windows ahead of time and to poor installation. And after talking to people about this company (which I should've done ahead of time) I heard that this is super common for him because one of the shops next to him supposedly has a bunch of wood shavings and debris that gets blown into the tinting shop which totally makes sense. So basically it took me 8 hours of wasted time and $300 to get less than ideal treatment from this guy to get a somewhat decent tint job in the end. But needless to say I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE, (that I liked anyways, lol jk not even to my worst enemy). read more

I had my car moved from the mainland and the tint was too dark. We are on the Hilo side, but after looking at reviews we picked Lacy's shop on the Kona side. He was friendly and helpful during our phone call and was able to get us in for a morning appointment the next day. He and his staff were very welcoming. We grabbed breakfast from the Natural Foods store across the street and ate in the air conditioned waiting area (with TV, WiFi and water). By the time we were finsihed he had replaced the tint.
