I just got my tints done from Andy today and he did a phenomenal job. I called frantically last night around 9:00 p.m. because I came all the way to the Bay Area from Sacramento to receive tints from a place in Richmond, Ca in which I couldn't get them done. Andy returned my call around 10:00 a.m. saying he could do my tints at 4:00p.m. Around 1:30, he called saying he could do them at 2:15, since he got done much faster with another customer then he had expected. He arrived to my house ON TIME and did the back 5 windows (I have a Toyota Corolla 2012) within a hour. Reading though some of these reviews is very surprising to me because I didn't feel that good business to consumer rapport trying to get built... It was a very unresponsive conversation, I was stating the benefits in going through him opposed to a shop, in a nutshell didn't feel like he wanted my business... Hey may do a great job, but those other skills went out the door. Sorry, one star from me. The only way I would even consider changing my rating is very simple. I'll let Andy figure that out. Yes, he does come to your house to do the work so you don't even have to get up off your lazy butt and go anywhere (except maybe the ATM for some cash). He ran into traffic and kept me updated by phone on when he would arrive. I like that. Once he arrived, we went over the various options and I let him to it. One hour later, my new car looked SICK! A very professional job and a friendly guy. For the money, window tinting is the best upgrade you can give your car and if you need it done, why go take it to some garage? I texted Andy at noon on Thursday and let him know I would like to setup an appointment, weather permitting, for him to come out to our house to tint my Toyota Prius. He responded right away and asked when I would like him to come out. I took a chance and asked if he would be available that day. Unfortunately he had a prior appointment already but offered to come Friday. That didn't work for me because I would be at work. He agreed the rain would be an issue right now but he would keep an eye on the weather forecast and let me know as soon as he thinks he can make it. He texted me Friday and said he thinks we'll have a break in the rain around 9 AM on Saturday. That worked for me and he arrived right on time and was finished in under an hour. This is our third car that Andy has tinted and he did just as awesome on my Prius as he did on our first two cars. Side note, I don't know who these one star reviews are on Yelp but they seem to be competitors trying to bring down Andy's overall rating while recommending competing businesses. Andy is nothing short of professional, efficient, timely and an all around great guy. I have a hard time believing those one star reviews are people truly seeking Andy's tinting work. Running a business well is more than being good at your craft. You've got to return calls promptly, be polite and courteous, be on time, so much more. Andy of Tint on Wheels knows how to run his business and offered all of these things. I had purchased a Yelp deal for window tinting when the weather was still really hot. I may not have thought to do so otherwise, thinking of it as an indulgence expense like massages and pedicures. (Another smart business move, Andy--offering deals so people like me will buy and discover--and review!) When one film hadn't taken or cured properly (not sure of terminology) Andy was prompt about returning calls and coming back to fix, though I was in no big rush. I'm happy I purchased the window tinting from this business and would recommend. One caution, though: Andy wears a pretty heavy scent (cologne?), so if you are allergic, which I am, see if he can refrain from using it when he's working in your car. That would be my one complaint--sorry, Andy, I forgot to mention this to you personally--as I have extreme fragrance sensitivities and because millions of other Americans do too I think service industry folks in our personal spaces (restaurant servers, mobile notaries, etc.) should take more care around such things. I love this guy! He came right to my house, about 15 miles outside of Berkeley. I called a few other places to have my job done, and they said I could come in to have it done in TWO WEEKS! I contacted Andy and he was at my door but three days later. The whole procedure took about an hour to do with five windows done. He was very helpful, friendly and talkative, and extremely selfless; I was trying to decide if I wanted to get my front windows done, and he talked me out of it! He passed up the extra $80 to help me out. I really appreciated that. Anyone who needs to have their windows done I'm gunna make them have Andy come to them! Since my loft space doesn't have an exterior power outlet, Andy agreed to meet me at a friends house for the install. Dealing with Andy was absolutely awesome and the work he did was fantastic. He was prompt to the the appointment and has friendly and courteous demeanor. While I had coffee with my friend, Andy knocked out the work in a little over an hour! Andy was great with answering texts on pricing and he's very competitively priced with the ceramic films he offers. He showed up right at the time we agreed to and he got the job done. A couple things I did want to highlight: 1) He knows his stuff. I wanted to go with a 35% on the rears (because of forums) but he suggested at least a 20% to cut down on glare for the kids (which he correctly deduced the tinting was for. Probably by the the two car seats in the rear). I went with his suggestion and I couldn't be happier. Just the right amount of darkness! (queue Dave Chappelle meme)... 2) He is one of the most honest guys I've worked with in a while. I pointed out a little thing and we've made arrangements for him to come back out to fix it right up. He wouldn't even take my money until after he comes back with the fix. At this point, I would probably trust him with taking care of my kids and I've only known him for a couple hours... 3) He was efficient. He finished the job (5 windows) in a little under a hour and a half. In summation, Andy was punctual, professional, and ethical. We never even considered getting our car windows tinted until we saw a Yelp deal from Tint on Wheels for it. Sadly for us, we missed the deal but decided to go for it anyway. Andy from Tint on Wheels wasn't our original choice--we had initially wanted to go to somebody else we found on Yelp who was incredibly helpful over the phone. Unfortunately, we live an hour away and the other tinter needed us to drop our car off at 8:30 in the morning and leave it there all day. Our busy schedule and lazy asses made that unworkable. So I decided to call Tint on Wheels. So glad I did! Andy came to our house the very next morning, on time. It was a lot easier t select a shade than I thought it would be (we went with 5% all around for maximum heat blocking). He worked on our car for about 1-1.5 hours while I walked one of our dogs and the boyfriend did some chores. His tint work looked great, he was professional and friendly, and nice to our handicapped dog. You would think that since he travels to you that his rates would be higher but nope. He charged the same thing as the other tinter we originally called. But I would've happily paid more for the convenience of having him come to us. It was wonderful to not have to take any time out of our day whatsoever to get this done! Also worth noting is that unlike many other tinters, Andy uses a ceramic tint. Most other tinters use a metal which can interfere with reception or controls (probably unlikely but it's been known to happen from my online research). Well worth the money and we love our newly tinted car. It has made a huge difference in the temperature inside. Wouldn't hesitate to use Andy again! BTW, we learned that in California, it's illegal to have any tinting done on the windshield or front driver & passenger windows. The law allows for 70% tinting in those windows (meaning 70% of sunlight can permeate the windows) but most factory windows already have this so any additional tinting would be prohibited by law. read more
