This was my first time trying this restaurant, it won't be the last. We went for the Fish fry buffet and it was very good. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. They have a huge selection of items on the buffet. Everything that was supposed to be hot, was and they were constantly refilling the items so they never ran out of any of the selections. I especially enjoyed the cheesy hash browns and the fried fish, but thought everything had good flavor. The staff was great at removing empty plates and refilling beverages. read more

I had heard Tinucci's had the best fish fry in the area. So, I went with a friend. The reservations are made in blocks of time. We chose the 4:45 time. We were seated right away. The food was served buffet style. We ordered drinks and those were also delivered quickly. The staff also did a good job of picking up dirty dishes. I was very impressed with the salad portion of the buffet. There were several different kinds of pasta salads. The main dishes wasn't quite as impressive. There was mac and cheese, cheesy hash browns, shrimp, and battered fish. There was also seafood chowder, which was very good. The desserts (were nothing to write home about) looked like leftover cookies from Costco. Overall, I don't think it was the best fish fry, I'd ever been to, but it certainly wasn't the worst! read more

Really disappointed. After a fire, the restaurant has been turned into an event center that feels like a church hall. The lighting is terrible and it's no longer warm and cozy feeling. They offer the prime rib buffet on some Saturdays, but it's not the same. The salad bar barely has anything on it - selection is minimal - and the food in general isn't great. We left feeling like we wasted our money. $50/person just isn't worth it. After going here for decades, we honestly won't be back. Really sad that the experience has been ruined. read more

I beg of you all to not judge this restaurant by a an employee's horrific actions. I don't know them and they don't know me, however they catered both my parents funerals with delicious food and great compassion. This restaurant is an important part of the community and they love their customers. Food is great, but a lot of the service felt very forced/very creepy. I don't know how to explain it other than everyone's vibes felt like they wanted to eat my soul? Again, food is great. We've ordered family take-out meals from them twice now. Calling to order was super simple and they seemed genuinely nice on the phone. We live in SSP so it's a quick jaunt across the river to pick up the food. My partner went in alone the first time and the 2nd time I went in with him. After our trip together, I remarked to him "They seemed... friendly." And his response was "Are you being sarcastic?" I said, "No... I mean, they all said hi to us at least." He responded "Yeah, they did, but it felt really forced." The first time we went, they forgot to give us (and didn't charge us for) part of what we had asked for on the phone. The 2nd time everything was perfect. Again, food was tasty, but seemed like the staff felt our souls would be tasty too. We'll definitely be grabbing food from here again, but I may wait in the car this time. read more

i came in after work to get some dinner a little bit before 6pm (over 30 minutes before the listed closing time!) and an employee in the back was loudly complaining that i had entered in the store and i even saw him rolling his eyes at me. i haven't come back since because I don't think it's acceptable for staff to talk about customers like that especially when I can hear them. when i called on the phone and spoke with another employee earlier that day, they were extremely polite and helpful and confirmed that the kitchen would still be open when I came in, so I really don't know why it was such an issue that I came in while the restaurant was still open and supposed to serve me. read more

This place is in walking distance from my new job. The deli was confusing at first as it's like a cafeteria line. The first time I got roast beef with Alfredo penee pasta and green beans. The roast beef was 4 huge slices and I brought 3 pieces home. The horseradish sauce is really good and buns appear homemade. Alfredo was meh. Second time I ordered cod dinner. The portion sizes are huge. I had slaw and waffle fries with it. The homemade tartar sauce was really good. The second time I was directed to order at take out salad order. Also the waffle fries were meh and stale after sitting in a warming tray. Note to self to not get fries in warming tray. Will probably return often as it's in walking distance. They are not open on Mondays. Also no-one answered phone for a takeout order. read more

We booked tinuccis for our wedding on 10.10.24 and it was absolutely incredible. We got the lasagna, chicken breast, penne and mac n cheese and it was so delicious we got compliments on the food all night. It was affordable, Mark Jr worked with us on everything and we felt very well cared for. Would recommend to anyone who needs catering for an event. Would give 10 stars if possible! read more

Like many others, I learned of the place after the Randy Moss diss. However, living out of state did not afford me the chance to try Tinucci's. I was a little apprehensive the first time--I was traveling to watch a baseball game at Target Field. I was unsure of the dress code for the place, so I sent an e-mail. Mark himself e-mailed me and assured me that wearing a jersey would be appropriate. The salads on offer are absolutely delicious. I'm pretty sure they're homemade. Quality ingredients and well seasoned. The fish seems a tad bit off--the batter is fine, but occasionally the fish itself seems a bit coarse. No issues with service with either of my visits here...I've done both the Sunday brunch and a visit to the deli. They have some decent catering packages too for graduations and the like. Definitely worth a stop if you're on this end of the metro. read more

We used Tinucci's to cater our wedding at Dellwood Barns and we got so many rave reviews on it! Firstly, Mark Jr was awesome to work with. He's always just a text away and was so responsive. We came in there for the taste testing and various other times to pay and he always offered us a meal for the road. They even gave us a wedding gift of a gift certificate for the next time we visited. Seriously, such good customer service. The food was amazing. When we went with them to cater, they were just getting their foot in the door at our venue and I'm so glad they were suggested to us. I'm originally from out of state so I never heard of Tinucci's before, but was blown away by the tasting. We ended up going with their chicken sandwich (MY FAVORITE) and pulled pork, as well as their mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, chilled veggies, corn bread and watermelon. Also for apps we had fresh pico and chips along with a meat and cheese platter. AND PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING ON THEIR DESSERTS, the turtle brownies are to die for. SO GOOD. I've eaten at least 2 a day since our reception and I'm not sure what kind of magic is in them but they are still moist!!! The pricing was very fair on the food and Mark Jr was very helpful in adjusting pricing/selection to our guest count. It's obvious they have a lot of experience in catering because when they showed up on the reception day, they moved like a well oiled machine. They had a tent to shield from weather, a table cloth to make it look nice, everything was well stocked the whole time and they were nice enough to take back our leftovers and package them and then store them until the next day when we came to collect them, vs leaving them for the venue to deal with or handing them off to us, who were definitely not in the mindset to look after food (but so grateful to have it the next day). They also brought plenty of backup food just incase we had extra guests or people wanted third or fourth servings (which happened with us, we had almost no leftovers the next day for us specifically even though we ordered about 25 extra servings, people loved the food) which would allow most people to lower their guest count to a more realistic number without worry of running out of food. We've been to Tinuccis on prime rib buffet day (also highly suggested) as well as various other times for just a casual pick up and we have never been disappointed. We'll definitely see what other larger events we can use them for, because it was such a great experience! read more

I've loved Tinucci's since 1973 when the hosted high school speech and debate banquets. The atmosphere, the staff and the food have alway been first rate. Tinucci's prime rib buffet is the best in the Twin Cities. A word of caution, running the gauntlet of the salad and hot food bars can well fill your plate before reaching the prime rib carving station. The salads, green and anti-pasta, the potatoes, ribs, chicken and desserts are great, but don't short change yourself having little appetite left for the prime rib. Always memorable. read more

Much hyped seafood buffet was very expensive, the food was not even up to the level of "ordinary," and the entree selection pretty limited for the $$. Two kinds of fish, plus shrimp...I don't remember that there were any other seafood choices. The Good: The salad bar side of things looked good. I didn't sample much there, but it all looked like decent, midwestern fare. Seafood chowder soup was good. Some might find it too salty, but I like it that way. Plenty of fake crab, some tiny scallops, and shrimp. Panko-breaded deep fried fish was just ok. Breading was on the heavy side. Breads and rolls were fine. Chocolate chip cookies were good, the other cookie disintegrated in my hand. The Not-So-Good: Over-breaded shrimp was overpowered by the breading. Almost no shrimp taste could break through. Baked cod. No taste. Dry. Had to use several lemon slices to even make it edible. I spent $35, and that was with no alcohol. Definitely not worth the price. An excellent company to use for catering! This catering service provides one of the best selections and highest quality of food for its price point that I have had in a long time. They prepare and serve chicken breasts which are cooked perfectly, juicy and requires no additional accompaniments to amplify the taste. They do season the chicken breast quite well also. Along with the chicken were baked beans which were brown sugary sweet and again very good. The roasted potatoes are also perfectly prepared and seasoned very well. They offer a great selection of fresh cut vegetables and dip, salads, rolls with butter and italian pasta salad. You may also select from an assortment of cookies or cakes, prepared just as well as everything else, moist, sweet and a great way to end a meal. If you're looking for a quality catering company that serves food everyone will love and remember this is the catering company to use. read more

I was in the mood for some Prime Rib and I wanted a good amount of it. That's when I stumbled on this place and found out they got a Prime Rib buffet only on Saturday nights and just by chance it was Saturday night! So as if by fate I got into my car and headed over and another pleasant surprise was when I saw it wasn't that far from me. Now I usually don't go to buffets or do reviews on them but this place felt special. First of all the place and staff looked wonderful. It felt like I was at an upper class joint. They had the lights dimmed so it felt intimate. Also I couldn't help but notice they had their Christmas decor all set up. The food selection seems diverse in terms of salad items, and appetizers including various breads, crackers, deli meats and cheeses. To my pleasure I saw they had mushrooms and asparagus included in the buffet and both items actually tasted of quality. The mushrooms weren't overcooked nor over seasoned and the asparagus was wonderfully tender. Now for the show piece of the whole experience, PRIME RIB! I was a bit nervous at first expecting some really cheap buffet style prime rib but this place seems to have balanced out the idea of both quantity and quality. I really like how the prime rib was cooked perfectly and that it wasn't at all over seasoned. I kinda wish they had more to dessert beside jello, puddings and fruits but then again this was a buffet. Overall my experience here was fulfilling. This place manages to offer quantity but at a good quality for the price. I would like very much to come here again but not for a while as I don't normally consume such amounts of food in one setting, only on rare occasions. read more

Tinucci's is such a mixed bag. Honestly, they'd be great on Restaurant Impossible. This place is really 3 different places. 1. The dining room 2. The to go deli 3. The bakery Never been to the dining room. But, have eaten in, taken away, and eaten from the bakery. Here's why it's a mixed bag... 1. Great value for good (3.5 stars), but not great food 2. A maddening ordering experience provided by an ever-changing group of employees. I feel like I'm the one educating them on how things work. 3. The pasta and fowl (chicken and turkey) are very good. The ribs, meatloaf, etc. are ok There's a lot of promise and potential for a place that's been around for a long time. I really hope they make it. read more

Our favorite Lenten activity is to try various fish fries. We pick a non-chain establishment including churches, bars, American Legions/VFWs or local restaurant. For me a good fish fry means thin pieces, no fishy taste and the batter must be crispy and not too thick. 1. Not huge buffet fans. 2. Very few choices for plain salad. Plenty of choices for mayo coated salad. Pasta, cole slaw, potatoe etc. 3. Fried shrimp was a nice touch. 4. Cod was thick square pieces. The pieces were not over battered but the buffet pan and heat lamp meant little crunch. (Also had poached cod/torsk but did not try this) 5. Cheesy hash browns were SUPER yummy! 6. Desserts of 4 flavors of pudding were nice but the chocolate chip cookies were very disappointing. read more

I had to seriously think about whether I really wanted to review this restaurant. My hubby said that I should do it since it was till on my mind. So, here goes. First, I do not believe this buffet is worth $20. We both had coupons, so it was $15 per person, plus drinks. Speaking of which, don't order the Riesling ($7.25) unless you like one that tastes a lot like chardonnay. I happen to hate chardonnay in all varieties and forms, so I did not enjoy this wine at all. The margarita ($3) that my husband ordered was odd, at best. We both finished our drinks since we were paying for them. The buffet itself was surprising in ways that were not good. There was a section next to the salad bar that was filled with mayonnaise-based items, some of which looked as though they had been sitting there for quite awhile. I passed on all of them. The beef ribs were extremely overcooked and chewy. I ate one of these only. The battered cod was good, which was the highlight of this portion of the buffet. There was another white fish there (cannot recall the name) that had a lemon slice on each piece. This was terribly overcooked and had no flavor at all. I had one piece only of this, as well. This is when we asked for hot sauce and though we don't normally use Tabasco, it was a welcome site. The worst part of the buffet was the coconut shrimp. I'd not tasted one so terrible in all my life. It tasted as though they used sweet coconut and added something else to it to make it even more sweet. We suffered through eating only one shrimp each and the remainder that had made it to our plates were discarded into the soup cups. The best part of this meal was Schmitty's seafood chowder. This was actually very delicious. So much so that we came back for seconds. The bread, which was on the same table, was also good. We ate the rye. I've no idea who Schmitty is, yet I'm glad he knows how to make good chowder. Being an east coaster, I'm pretty serious about my chowders and usually pass on them if I'm not back east. My husband also tried the fried chicken. He didn't bother to finish the entire piece. I don't eat fried chicken anymore, so I wasn't tempted to try it. The service was ok here. There was a period of time when we were tempted to go up to the cashier to tell her what we had because we'd been done eating and were just sitting there for quite awhile. It also took the waitress awhile to give us more water. Our glasses were empty for some time. What bothered us most about the buffet was the fact that we've had much better at equal or lower prices. He plans on coming back to give it another chance, I don't. I give each place I eat one chance to please me. Even when my standards might be low, I still expect to enjoy most of any meal I have from a restaurant. read more

Went over on a Friday night, when only the buffet is available. It was quite good and had lots to choose from. Soup and rolls. along with many types of salads to sample.Then on to two types of fish, coconut shrimp, BBQ ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, cheese potatoes, vegies and more. The chicken was outstanding!! A few desserts, cakes, ice cream, pecan pie. The only thing missing was Randy Moss. Being that there was a blizzard predicted, it was not too busy. Best beef ribs!!! Also fantastic fried chicken! We do the carry out more often than eating in. I only eat in for Sunday brunch. The place belongs in a mob movie. It's not fancy but you are in Newport so check yourself if you are looking for swanky. It's cool and down to earth food for the hard working peeps in the area. A local spot, don't judge, just be nice. The Sunday brunch rocks because it's got a million choices and it's all home style cooking...think what your "Minnesotah" mom or aunt brings to a potluck. So back when these guys had a location in Woodbury, I thought they were WAY better. The selection and freshness of the food was top notch. I have been to the Newport location a few times now and I keep expecting it to get better... This is speaking from my experience in the deli section because i am not around the area in the evening for dinner. The service is always very friendly so they get points for that. The food is plenty hot if you get something off the food bar. The selection isn't always the greatest. I like the mac n cheese and the italian is ok (if a bit bland). They do have pretty good salads. I like the cobb which they usually have made up in their frig case and the bakery items are pretty darn tasty. Where they really fail is the pricing. This is a deli pricing their food like a midrange restaurant. If i want to spend $10 on a slice of lasagna, I will just go dine in somewhere. Everything is pretty spendy actually. A lot of ala carte stuff that will really add up to a hit on your wallet if you don't watch it! The location really sucks and it's not the easiest to get to so I don't get why they charge so much. They need to do something to attract more people and this isn't it. read more

Alyssa & I have always wanted to come here for the All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry Buffet. I don't know what kept us away for so long, but when I was researching Fish Fry's this past week, I came across a coupon on the Tinucci's website for a discounted price on the Buffet for this past Friday only. What a way to get us to try it out! I called ahead to ask about reservations & if we needed more than one coupon for the two of us. I was told we would need two coupons & that they don't take reservations. We made plans to meet up with one of Alyssa's High School friends at 5 o'clock. Which is when the buffet starts. Tinucci's is kinda by itself out there. The GPS got us there with no issues, but nothing else is around it. The parking lot is a little screwy. We had to manage to find a spot by driving around figuring where we could and couldn't park. We walked into the wrong door, not really by accident, though. They have a "deli"/take-out business aspect, which is what we walked into. The reason being is because the other entrance says, Private Dining/Banquets. We thought that would be the wrong door to walk into. Well, WE were wrong and that's what we SHOULD have gone towards. The guy behind the counter was extremely helpful & friendly in pointing us the right way. When we got inside the right door, we were seated right away, as for Alyssa's friend had arrived first. Everything was ready to go. Highchair too. Our server stopped by quickly, asking about drinks. My tummy was a little off, so I thought a 7-Up was in order. Alyssa got a Cherry Coke. Pheona got a Kiddy Cocktail. Alyssa went up right away and got us a couple cups of Seafood Chowder. Delicious! Full of seafood & flavor. The salad section of the buffet was next for me. Plenty of salad toppings to choose from. The dressing layout was weird. They were right by the lettuce. So, after you put all of your salad toppings on, you had to go back to the beginning to get your dressing. Unless you first put dressing on, then you'd be lucky not to dab some of your dressing on the topping spoons, and get those all funked up. I'm one for dressing at the end of the salad station. After I munched on my salad, which was fresh & tasty, I took a gander at all the prepared salads they offer. Roughly 20? Way too many, really. None have a label or tag telling you what it is. Some I was just guessing at, only to find out I was wrong. The coleslaw. Watch out! They mince a Gawd awful amount of onion into it. Woo Wee. What a surprise that was. The hot side of the buffet was disappointing. With as many cold salads as they offer, one might think there would be a bountiful spread of hot items. Not so much. Flavor-wise? Kinda bland. They offer up baked Chicken, Ribs, Beer Battered Cod, Baked Cod, Coconut Shrimp, Seasonal Vegetable, and a Cheesy Hashbrown Bake. The ribs for us was a let down. Tough meat. Just not much flavor. Beer Batter Cod was alright. Some pieces were soggy, as for they've been on the bottom of a heap of Fish. The ones on top, or just having come out from the kitchen were the best. (Obviously) Seasonal Veggies were just about room temperature. The green beans didn't have much snap to them and had a limpness. The Cheesy Hashbrown Bake looked alright. It had a nice browned crust on top. When the guy in front of me avoided the browed crust, I thought he was cray cray. When I took a bite, I knew I was cray cray. Hard, uneatable crust. The soft innards were good, but avoid the top at all costs. Coconut Shrimp was way to sweet. Not good. By the soup set up, they have some desserts laid out. They were offering up a chocolate cake with a blue frosting. It wasn't good. Tasted old. Like it had been cut the day before old. Hardened crusty edges. They also offered a 7 layer bar. That was great. I walked around with Pheona at one point and checked out the dining area. It's got an Old School Supper Club feel. I like the atmosphere. The place has been around since 1958, and keeps some of that charm. The service was adequate. Because of it being a buffet, they had servers clearing plates and filling drinks. A small selection of beer and wine was available. You get a bill at your table, but you pay up front. I'm sure happy we had a discount coupon, because if I had to pay full, I might be feeling like Randy Moss did about this place. We paid $14.95 plus drinks. The regular price is $19.95. We went here for my birthday to try their prime rib that people were raving about. The prime rib was good and we liked that they had au jus you could add a cup of on the side if you requested it. The buffet had a few hot options (penne alfredo, baked chicken, breaded/fried shrimp, fried cauliflower and a hashbrown potato casserole), shrimp cocktail, several cold salad options including a few dessert options (pudding and fruit). There is a charcuterie style table with sliced meats, olives, cheeses, asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, some bread options, chili chicken wings (heated), fried cod (not heated which we thought was odd) and a few other things I'm sure I was missing. It seemed like 1/2 of the cold salad options were loaded with olives (2 out of 3 of us don't enjoy olives). The pudding tasted canned. We were surprised that there weren't any add'l dessert options for the price of ~$40ea. We all agreed that the prime rib was good and buffet options were also good but for us it wasn't worth the money (we'd rather go to Wiederholt's for less). Friday fish fry buffet. You walk in and see the spread. So much of everything. Someone is really trying, and then someone isn't. I've managed restaurants, and went to school for banquet management, so I know all about costs. It seemed like so much was from a can (the chowder), a box (potatoes), or a bucket (potato salad). They didn't even pretend to doctor anything up. The coconut shrimp was sweeter and odder tasting than any I've had. My husband had the fried fish, said it wasn't bad. I had baked chicken, that was ok, and so was the mac salad. They had a good variety of salad dressing for the iceberg lettuce. Which I don't mind, but neither does Emeril on occasion, so I stand by this. My husband who has been known to pull a Homer Simpson at buffets, only went up once. I'm looking around at a very large crowd, and people are really loving this. So it has it's audience, so maybe it's not a bad thing. But Friday night fish fry isn't my thing. It's like the Frazier episode when they wanted to take the father out to a high end restaurant, and the reservation got lost, so he took them to his favorite place, here. The father loved it, and Frazier and Niles couldn't eat anything.Three stars, because I still have faith that I may like something else on another day. read more

I've had catering from here 4-5 times. Most of the food is decent, and I do like the fried chicken. But, their potatoes are horrible. Potatoes are one of the most important parts of a meal, it's the anchor from which all else is built on. It's phenomenally hard to mess up potatoes, but they still manage to do it by adding absurd amounts of MSG to them. They taste very bad, even my kids won't eat them, and my tongue feels raw after a couple of bites. I don't dislike MSG, I sometimes add it to mine when making them at home. But the amount they put in is just out of control. Tinnuci's, PLEASE stop adding all that MSG to your potatoes. read more

Many, many experiences with Tinucci's have made me a fan of their consistent service and food. Sunday brunch is a good, solid brunch with a variety of traditional offerings, including lots of dessert options. Fried chicken is another solid option from the deli. I haven't been overly impressed with the side dishes; however recently we tried the baked beans which were outstanding. Great dessert options in the deli section our great.
