If I could give Tiny Thinkers more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. My son has been with Tiny Thinkers since he was just two years old, and as we wrap up our time here, I can honestly say this place has been one of the biggest blessings in our lives. The amount of love, patience, and care every single staff member pours into the kids is unmatched. I've watched my son grow into a kind, smart, and confident little boy -- and so much of that is thanks to the amazing teachers at this school. They didn't just teach him; they truly helped me raise him. There were times when I was exhausted and overwhelmed as a parent, but knowing he was in such good hands gave me peace. These ladies became my village when I needed it most. I will forever be grateful for everything they've done for my son and for me. If you're looking for a daycare or early learning center where your child will be truly seen, loved, and supported -- this is it. Tiny Thinkers will always have a special place in our hearts.

The owners and staff have dedicated many years to this school, making a lasting difference in the lives of children across generations, and it truly shows in everything they do. My son gained so much from an early age--learning how to color, hold a pencil correctly, write his name, and even begin addition and subtraction. The summer camps are excellent, the dance classes are fun and engaging, and the holiday celebrations beautifully reflect diversity and respect for all cultures. The environment is warm, welcoming, and inclusive, which made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. While we are sad to be leaving Montessori, we are also very proud that our son is ready for his next step. We are grateful for everything this school has given him and highly recommend House of Children to other families

Before I give a glowing and deeply heartfelt review of the experience our family has had at…read moreMontessori House of Children with both of our boys, I want to share a broader thought, because context matters, especially when parents are making one of the most important decisions of their lives. I think it is fundamentally unfair when a school receives a one-star review based purely on a parent's expectation of what they think an accredited Montessori environment should be, particularly when that opinion comes from a misunderstanding, limited exposure, or without ever actually attending or engaging with the school. Montessori education is nuanced, intentional, and often misunderstood when viewed through a traditional lens. What troubles me most is how quickly some people run to leave damaging reviews without first asking questions, seeking clarity, or having a conversation with the school. Educators and administrators put their entire lives into the well-being of these children and the integrity of their program. Parents rely on real, lived experiences when deciding to place their children in someone else's care, and highly subjective or reactionary reviews do not serve that trust or decision-making process. I truly believe that if something feels off, the first step should be to pause, gather information, and talk with the school. If, after genuine effort and understanding, you still feel strongly, then by all means leave a review. But perspective matters. And if you take a moment to look at some of the most extreme one-star profiles, you will often notice a pattern. Volatility, absolutes, and very little middle ground. Life, and education, rarely works that way. Now onto what actually matters. Our older son graduated from Montessori House of Children and is now thriving in first grade. Our younger son is about to graduate this year. Over the years, we have watched both boys grow not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and independently. This school helped shape who they are as learners and as people. The teachers are patient, intentional, and deeply invested. The environment fosters confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and respect. These are core Montessori principles that are clearly lived, not just advertised. Our children felt safe, seen, challenged, and supported. We will always be grateful for the foundation Montessori House of Children gave our family. It is not just a school. It is a community that genuinely cares about children and their development. I recommend it without hesitation to parents seeking a thoughtful, authentic Montessori experience.

Firstly, let me just say it's difficult to get into a good Montessori in LA. Everything is…read moreoverbooked and that's will be the case with Exploring Minds (Sherman Oaks). It is difficult to get in, there's an application process and objectively speaking, think about this from the school's perspective - everyone wants in, so they need a criterion to decide who to bring on board; if you tried and didn't get in, it's OK...as my 5 year old says "that's life". The school itself? It's amazing. I won't say it's the single greatest school in planet LA. Neither will the school itself assert that; but there are tons of good choices for you and your family and this is one of the better ones. Let's speak about why from the perspective of outcomes: my kid learned to read, and write, learned social skills to thrive amongst peers, some Mandarin and yoga too! They follow the Montessori method, they will teach your kid to hone on their fine motor skills, tie their shoe laces, reinforce what are good and bad behaviors and all the life skills and techniques that your little one needs to navigate this crazy world. And, they have a parent teacher conference where they'll tell you exactly how your bundle of joy is doing - give and seek feedback, iterate and help your child grow. The school is a very tight knit community. If you are a parent then please expect to get involved. They also care about diversity and have several events thru the year that I won't recant here - you can look up their website and learn more. What I'll conjecture is this (perhaps I am repeating!): In life, outcomes matter. That's the ultimate barometer. Almost every kid we know of in the school graduated and mostly got into a school of their choice - this is, without hyperbole, due to Exploring Minds, it's well recognized by K-12 schools in the area and beyond. And the kids turned out well. That is a function of three things: You, your child and Exploring Minds in that order. So, if you get in, please be nice, contribute your time and joy, enjoy your time here and leave with wonderful memories, like we will be doing soon. Finally, Ms Doha is running this as a service - she could be doing a million other things with her life, but she chooses to do this, because she loves it. Ditto with the teachers - Ms Brenda, Ms Barbara and Ms Socorro (not to downplay others but there's a lot of wonderful teachers) - who helped shape the socio-emotional development of our child; they choose to do this because they love this. They inspire our child. In closing, I'll say if you are looking for schools in the area for your little wonder, apply here and I hope you get in.

I now realize how important it is to choose the right preschool because it is the beginning of a child's experience at a school. I'm so sad that I sent my young child. I will never forget attending the Thanksgiving Potluck and was amazed at how the children made the table cloths, did the flower arranging, and decorated centerpieces for the tables. It truly was a work of art! For their end of year show, the teachers had written and composed all the music and songs that the children learnt! No other school would do that, and I think it instills such creative values in the children. Since attending, my child's creativity has just blossomed and it's been so amazing to see. The teachers also focus on numbers, the alphabet, and learning about other countries and cultures. Plus, they learn french, yoga, and music. It really is a well-rounded Montessori curriculum. The school's approach is empathetic so that even the littlest children feel seen, heard, and understood. The teachers model and foster social-emotional skills skillfully, so that the kiddos become considerate but effective self-advocates and negotiators, establishing the building blocks for identifying their own emotions and needs and working through conflict. The teachers are gentle and caring. You feel totally confident leaving your child under their guidance, knowing they will be treated with respect and kindness. The teachers and director also become your genuine partners along the journey of raising your child. Through coffee hour chats, expert talks, knowledgeable resource recommendations, and one-on-one conversations they can help troubleshoot any parenting challenges you are working through. For myself and some alumni parent friends of mine, the school has been such a trusted guiding light that "Caterpillar" has become a verb. If you're not sure how to deal with a child situation, you ask yourself, "How can I Caterpillar this?" What would (lead teacher) Andrea say or do? All this is on top of the other good stuff of pre-school they provide: arts exploration, outdoor play, stories and gardening and science experiments and a lovely community of parents and friends. Highest recommendation!
