During his first year, we had a nanny who was amazing, but it was difficult to work from home and I felt like he wasn't getting exposed to things that could help him learn while I was working. We really wanted to make sure Marcus, like any other parent, could go to a school that was organized, had rules, and took their job seriously but also a place where he felt comfortable and could socialize. These daycares are so important for the safety and development of our children. When Marcus first started, he would just sit in the corner in his little chair. He had just started learning to walk at home, but when he started with Sheila, he was just taking everything in. He's our first child, and there are no other children around us. His cousins are far away, so the only children he saw were one-offs at the library every other week with the nanny. Within the first week, we were already seeing great developmental jumps from our son. He started walking more, becoming more social, saying more words, and signing things we weren't teaching him at home. He was coming back with new things and even teaching us and we keep up with his learning too. It's been such an amazing and fun journey watching him really grow while at Sheila's. Sheila and Maribel are so great and sweet. They've built a really great community. The parents in this organization are so welcoming and nice. We have a group chat, and everyone supports each other. I think they're really trying to raise good human beings. I see that because Marcus was the youngest when we started, and all the kids were so sweet and welcoming. They would call him "baby Marcus," and I think that's how he gained confidence to play with other kids and toys. When he first started, he had huge separation anxiety and wouldn't go to my mom, grandparents, siblings, or cousins at parties. He would just sit by my side more than other children his age. Moving to daycare really opened him up, and it's just fun to see. He's wanting to connect with others and he's just really smart. I know that has a lot to do with our daycare. We looked at a couple of daycares, but we chose Sheila because she had a set way of doing things that made sense. I appreciated that there were clear goals. For example, when we dropped him off, you had to close the door behind you. They don't slack on that and that makes me feel assured that they are safe. There are a couple of reasons why I chose Sheila: - The facility is really clean. - They have great updates to the space inside and outside. - great age appropriate toys, and learning materials. - The pricing is affordable. - They are consistent with their schedule and routine. - They tell you exactly what you need to prepare and bring. -the community As a first-time mom, dropping off your child at daycare is daunting. Sheila walked me through everything: you need to provide diapers, wipes, a water bottle, and a bed sheet. He would never nap with us, but at daycare, he naps consistently and does really well. He always comes back with a clean diaper. After about a month, he was thriving. Now, when I drop him off, he doesn't even cry. He walks over to Maribel and Sheila, and when I pick him up, I see him putting his toys away before running to me. It's so sweet to see. I can't say enough great things about Sheila and Maribel. The priority is: do you trust this childcare? Yes, a hundred percent. Do I trust her with my son's safety? Yes. It's because of the rules she puts in place and how strongly she enforces them. The consistency of Maribel--you can tell she's going to be there long-term. We feel extremely lucky and happy!

Food and Cleanliness They take care of all of it, it is very convenient not having to worry about food for our toddler and she is being fed healthy and diverse foods. There are pictures in the app of what they ate that day. The space is very clean, parents are asked to take off their shoes before entering the play area and the backyard is well kept and great for the kids to play. Activities Kids get to do art, go to the library, go to the playground, play in the backyard, there's internal play areas, and a ton of other activities. They also get to learn portuguese. Sara provides healthy, home-cooked and age-appropriate food for our infant daughter. This was a major change from our experience with our son at another daycare when he was an infant and we were on a merry-go-round of illnesses; not having to take sick days (for ourselves catching it too or to take care of her) was a HUGE plus. Sara also does not take a ton of holidays and vacations; another HUGE plus. Our daughter has never even so much as gotten a diaper rash at Sara's. She allows you to be flexible with part-time daily rate or full-time monthly rate. We get about 5 videos throughout each day of her eating, playing, and napping, along with texts of every diaper change, meal, nap, skipped nap, bottle, etc. Our daughter is so happy in the videos smiling playing and laughing; she is never sad at drop off. Even our 3 year old son runs to the door to pickup our daughter because he loves saying hello to Sara. We know our daughter is in kind and loving hands at Sara's! When I picked her up, nothing was mentioned. Later at home we realized she had been severely sunburned. When I texted the provider, Sara, she said it was "nothing." Five hours later we were in the emergency room, where doctors diagnosed our baby with second-degree sunburn. We filed a complaint with the Social Services Licensing Department. The investigation was completed on 08/05, and the daycare received Citation A (the most serious level) and Citation B, which are now publicly posted on the licensing website. Sara never reached out to apologize and never returned our belongings, including a stash of breast milk. I would not recommend this daycare.

She uses the Brightwheel app to send photos, videos, meal updates, and naps throughout the day. Without fail, after dropping our kiddo off, we would get a photo of her eating breakfast or playing with friends before we made it to work. It was like we were there with her throughout the day, and what days they were! Vika is a master at designing activities that are fun, original, and educational. The kids learned to use so many different mediums of art, each with different sensory experiences. The crafts our daughter brought home were legendary. I have kept so many of these pieces, and some are even hanging in my her room. They're literally art. There is so much singing, dancing, and outdoor play during every day. My kiddo learned how to count to 16 and started learning her ABCs by the time she turned 2. Vika is also an excellent chef. I found myself getting jealous of the amazing lunches and snacks she provided the kids. She prides herself at shopping at local farmers markets and cooking with the freshest organic ingredients. I learned so much from her and still use her recipes today. But, more important than all of these things, Vika is one of those rare people who seems to have been born to be with children. Her love for them, and the way she understands each of their personalities and adapts her style to their needs is a joy to witness. My daughter forged some amazing friendships with the other kids in her daycare, many of whom we are still friends with today. My kiddo often came home with her hair in fancy hairdos with braids and sparkly clips and sometimes a hidden stuffed animal in her bag (just because she loved it and Vika thought she should have it). I never doubted that my baby was with someone who loved her all day when she was with Vika. Not only that, but someone who was extremely competent and who put her safety above all else. I honestly don't think anyone will ever measure up to Vika. If you ever find yourself lucky enough to find a spot for your child with her, do not hesitate.
