If I can put no stars I would, I don't know how much simpler I could've explained my cut to JAVI. One inch off the top and a 2 on the sides that fades into a 1. My hair is middle parted/ curtains but for sum reason these BARBERS think I would want my hair to come out as a comb over. basically if you have any style other than a comb over. They are going to ask you what kind of cut you want then proceed to put all your hair on one side of your head and cut it like a comb over. Really disappointed went in today to get a cut I have curly hair that looks great in a A-line cut but the woman there proceeded to tell me I wouldn't look good with an A-line and actually told me to show her a picture of me with one before she would do it. Then she continued to tell me it wouldn't look good. I've gotten more expensive salons to give me A-lines no problem. "A barbershop for gentlemen." This is how Tip Top Barbershop was described to me the first time I visited the establishment. Any fella who is in his 30s-40s understands that going to the barbershop can become a pain in the ass. Especially when your surrounded by dudes getting faux-hawks and talking about partying, drinking, weed smoking, and other bullshit that I'd rather not hear about. This place is not like that. They play great music, everything from old school punk to Frank Sinatra. They offer beer to their customers and they fill the barbershop with vintage photographs, tattoo art, barber chairs. Most importantly they can cut hair. Kevin and the owner have both given me excellent cuts. By the way, $16 for a haircut is a solid price. Anything lower and Tip Top turns into your local "get-me-the-f-outta here" hair cuttery I REALLY HOPE THIS PLACE holds true to its vision. A great place to get a no BS cut I've been coming here for a while. It's a cool spot for sure. The barbers are all really good. They do some pretty good haircuts. Was thoroughly impressed after my cut here this past week. The barber knew exactly what I wanted with minimal description necessary. The inside of the shop is pretty swag. The barber, who is also a tattoo artist, has his art-work hung upon each wall. This barbershop, as any real barbershop should, employs in the use of the straight razor and shaves. The place operates on a walk-in basis as any good barbershop should. The barberchairs themselves were awesome as hell. Each one was vintage, being from either the 1950's or the 1960's. The buck trophys on the walls capped off the perfect hair cut. The only con I found was the price, 13$ seems bout the price it should be here, but its not. See below. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10-6 if i remember correctly. Price for a haircut was $16 and that included the use of a straight razor on my neck. Rockabilly/Psychobilly friendly! I don't like to get my haircut and I usually wait until the last possible moment to get one. My last barber shut up shop- it was $10 with minimal conversation. Not that I'm not a social person, I just want to get it over with so I can move on to my next task. We found Tip Top Barber Shop on Yelp and saw glowing reviews for it. It's true. While you're waiting, you can indulge in a brewski if you're legal age. For those that aren't, well, you can watch someone that is old enough enjoying their beverage. Just like previous reviews stated, it really looks like a tattoo shop with barber chairs. They have a lot of pin-up and flash art on the walls which reinforces that feeling. I had someone named Robert cutting my hair and I think he did a damn good job. He was quick and focused. He asked me what I wanted in the beginning and when he wasn't really sure what I was talking about, he asked questions. That put my mind at ease. I hate when I go somewhere, tell them what I want, they look at me like I'm a mutant and then proceed cutting without ever really knowing what the hell I am talking about and come out looking like I had a flowbee accident. Not him. He even took a straight razor to my neck (which scared the shit out of me... I think I watch too many horror movies). Within 15-minutes, I was cut, clean and out the door. They don't take cards, so make sure you come armed with cash. It's $16 for a mens cut, so I threw down a $20 and called it a day. They would probably get more tips if they accepted cards, but that's not my business. I recommend going here, and will probably be going back. read more

Besides my anatomical characteristics, I am by no means a man. With that being said; it is obvious that upon entering a barber shop I have no idea of the terminology being tossed around. Some examples are: "Fade," "Taper," "I met this girl," "I got a number," and stuff like that. It's all foreign to me! I've been coming here bi-weekly for the past 3 months now, and each time the guys there manage to understand what the hell I want to do with my hair and deliver on point! Chris has been cutting my hair this whole time, and he has done an amazing job. Today; however, he wasn't in the shop yet so I was seen by another gentleman. I forgot his name, but he usually wears a hat, glasses, and has tattoos on his neck, and I decided to try my hand at this crazy lingo of theirs and said; "Do what you did to that guy." And sure enough he left me feeling clean, manly, and tough. It truly seems like they could do no wrong. Everyone always leaves their chair content and happy with their new cut. They are all really friendly dudes, and will strike up conversation with you, or if you rather just stick to yourself they'll focus on the cutting and leave you be in your comforting state of Zen. The music will range from rockabilly, oldies, and today they had some cool loungey jazz going on. You even get a complimentary drink with your visit. I wish the lion-hearted feeling I get after leaving this place lasted for more than two weeks. Unfortunately for me my skin re-softens, and I revert to my old matronly self again, but not to worry because I can always count on them to fix me back up. read more

I went here for my first time today, knowing that whoever got me as a customer would have a lot of hair to cut. I suppose i never really thought about it and I just let it grow long, to the point where I was starting to resemble Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. I walked in some-what early and everyone that told me about this shop said you could get a beer if you are waiting, I didn't do that because it wasn't even 11:00 yet and the employees of the store had no other customers. so I was ready to go. The staff that was there consisted of a man and a woman (poor woman got me) she asked me how I wanted it to be cut. I wasn't really sure (i've never been too particular about my hair...mostly because it grows back too quickly.)I pointed to a 1950's poster on the wall that said "Modern Haircuts" which is a joke within itself, which is obvious, so I won't get into it. she cut my hair well and in a timely manner. I also asked if I could get a straight razor shave. (this is where the review went from a 4-star, to a 5-star.) First of all, I have cut up my face numbered times, partly because whenever I shave, I am in a hurry, so I do a bad job of it. so my face is a minefield of whiskers pointing in different directions, I am surpassed that the woman shaving me didn't cut my throat, either way, it was Very relaxing and enjoyable either way. overall, the haircut and shave (the shave being VERY pampering) cost $30 worth it I'd say, but it's your call. It's cool and comfortable, great atmosphere, offers free beers (yeah, you read it right!) and ppl who works there are really nice and cool. I've been searching for a good barbershop for sometime. After a while I just gave up and resorted to going to a franchised hairstyling place that has a revolving group of stylists. On my frequent walks I'd pass by this shop wanting to stop in, however the pandemic hit and they, like many places closed down for awhile. I was glad to see they were back in business and I finally got the chance to try them out. Their place is real barber shop as I once remembered. The place is clean, nicely decorated, great music and friendly atmosphere. I took my chances as a walk-in and waited a short while. Many of the clients were repeat customers and I could see why. They're treated as friends rather than just a paying customer. It was refreshing to get a proper haircut from a professional barber. It's nice that there are people who practice a skill that's been lost to lessons learned at a beauty school that produces stylists, not barbers. One of the best shops Ived been too. If I'm not mistaken there's no appointments only walk ins. As soon as I walked in David introduced himself and asked me to sit down. Offered me something to drink and asked what type of haircut I wanted. Really chill atmosphere, none of that really young barbershop feel. All the barbers were really friendly and eazy to talk too. Haircut price for a razor shaved comb over is $24.00. A little pricy but well worth it. I just moved out to Orange County from the northeastern U.S. and this is hands down the best barber shop I've ever been to. They gave me the best haircut I've ever had, which was no easy job because I haven't had it cut in about 4 months. Super mellow, relaxed atmosphere without feeling like they're trying too hard.
