I genuinely cannot believe this place has positive reviews unless people are being rewarded with store credit and emotional manipulation. If "bare minimum sanitation" was the goal, they still missed it. The entire salon felt sticky, dusty, and vaguely haunted by expired acrylic powder. Nothing looked clean. Nothing felt clean. I spent the entire appointment wondering which surface was going to give me a rash first. The nail service itself was almost impressive in how bad it was. The shaping looked like it was done during an earthquake. I have seen kindergarten art projects with cleaner lines. Every nail was a different shape, different thickness, and somehow a different emotional experience. The polish application looked rushed to the point of hostility. And then the waxing service was somehow worse. I spent the rest of the day looking like I lost a fight with a roll of duct tape. There was absolutely no care, technique, or gentleness involved. It felt less like a beauty service and more like someone removing industrial flooring with their bare hands. The staff acted irritated by basic human interaction. At one point I genuinely felt like apologizing for having an appointment. Asking simple questions was treated like a personal attack. The entire atmosphere had the warmth of a DMV waiting room with fluorescent lighting and unresolved tension. What confuses me most is the confidence. This place charges luxury prices for results that look accidental. I left wondering if anyone there has actually seen a successful manicure before or if they are all just freelancing based on blurry Pinterest photos and raw determination. I would rather exfoliate my face with driveway gravel than return here. read more

Worst manicure/pedicure ever experienced. Was never introduced to my nail tech & quickly found that she spoke no English whatsoever. She was extraordinarily rough on my feet and so rough with my cuticles that 2 fingers actually bled, even though cuticles remained and made the polish so awful that I went straight to CVS (in same parking lot) and bought polish remover, antibiotic ointment and cotton balls. To say that I will never EVER return is the understatement of my the year. read more

I was a long time customer but when the business was sold abt 2 yrs ago, it went rapidly downhill as the good manicurists left to work elsewhere. I thought I'd give them a chance but I had numerous bad experiences with the new staff including rudeness, disparate treatment because Im a disabled plus size lady, and trying to overcharge me at completion when I was already quoted a set price, and when I refused to be bullied, she made a scene in front of all the customers to embarass me into paying a higher price!! I paid what I was originally quoted and left...never to return. Due to me horrible experiences w them I wouldn't refer them to anyone. read more

I had to go back there in less than a week because all of my nails were lifting. The lady that did them was frustrated and kept making different excuses as to why they did that, such as my job (that I wear gloves at all day) or if I did yardwork....which I don't? Not even a day later after I got them REDONE, they're already chipping again. Not to mention they were done sloppily anyway (see in picture.) I called them and they told me that my nails were "too oily" and that I should try something else, mind you I've always gotten gel. It's excuse after excuse when they should really be questioning their NAIL TECHS. She also didn't cut my cuticles down, she instead unprofessionally decided to use a nail file and go around the edges of my nail while cutting up the skin around it. Absolutely awful place. Her name is ANGEL and her LICENSING should be QUESTIONED. read more

Nice job on my nails. Happy with how they came out. Interesting though that the other customers were offered something to drink including water or a mimosa ect. The other customers were also given a hand and arm massage after their nails were done. Very disappointing that no one offered me either a drink or arm message. The woman taking off my nail polish used a sanding tool and took my nails down so low it hurt, I made her stop and asked her if she could just use polish removal as I had on regular nail polish. She refused and I told her I wanted someone else to do my nails. My nails were so thin at that point that the regular nail polish hurt so bad! the staff talks a different language and talks about all the customers while they are sitting there. They are so unprofessional and they don't care if they hurt you! read more

I usually enjoy my pedicure because I get what I requested with whom I requested when making my appointment. Sadly my usual person was off today, my request not answered and the ball got dropped. After and a 5 mile run this morning and request for a strong massage I got less than mediocre. Lesson learned. Don't accept change. read more

Nail tech left bubbles on my nails. They refused to do dip powder for me, didn't even say that they didn't have a tech who could do it. All I got was not with your nails. (I've had it done at other salons). The one nail I had replaced (my middle nail) doesn't match the shape of any of my other nails now even though I pointed it out multiple times for it to be fixed. $40 down the drain I'll have to do a color change this week to fix their mistakes. Tammy does a wonderful job. My aunt goes to her consistently and her nails are always well done. But beware of who you book with, I had a terrible pedicure where the polish didn't even fully coat my nails. I also had a terrible dip manicure with a male tech. He went so fast and really didn't care about quality. They were so thick and they lifted from the bottom only days after having them done. read more

See the tweezers in the picture below? They were used on my PRIVATE AREA without being cleaned or sanitized, to the point of me bleeding, and they were NOT cleaned, only put back in the glass jar!!! This place is a HEALTH HAZARD. Do NOT GO HERE. As a nurse, I'm calling the Health Department on Monday. Nightmare waxing experience!!! I was so incredibly uncomfortable. I asked them SEVERAL times to stop using the tweezers, and the waxing lady didn't listen. I felt extremely violated. read more

IF I could give a negative star I would. I got my nails powder dipped on Saturday and by Tuesday they were breaking. The nails were already poorly done, meaning they were rigid and slopping. but then to start breaking was even more unacceptable. I called and talked with the owner who said i could come back to get them fixed. When i arrived he sent me to the same nail tech who did a very poor job and the fix was even worse and she has the worst attitude. She refused to fix all the nails even though they were clearly done wrong and only fixed the broken two which turned out looking worse than if I would have left them broken. The set of dip nails was 65 dollars. The service was poor and the salon is very clean looking but they do not sanitize anything. I will be reporting to the health department and would never recommend this salon. read more

Was disappointed in this salon. Was so glad to finally get a mani and pedi since the whole Covid thing. Took my mom and grand daughter. They weren't very busy, the man that did my nails was rushing, no leg or hand massage for any of us, he seemed to be in such a hurry, it was not relaxing. They gave me severe nail fungus. 4 fingers. When I went in to have my acrylics filled, it was a disaster. The tec never cleaned his tool, just put the back in the drawer after filing off fungus. I have gone only there for 2yrs and I have had fungus 2x. Once white, and now green/black. Now Dr wants to remove my nail. ONE STAR IS GENEROUS. read more

I have been coming here on average every 3 weeks for the past year. Love this Salon. I am always greeted with a smile. The pedicures are at least 45 minutes and heavenly. Nice relaxing atmosphere. My manicure is usually a gel manicure. Always looks pristine. Only once did the gel begin to lift after 3 days. I went into the Salon and the owner took care of me immediately and re-did my nails for no charge. In addition to manicures and pedicures, I also have my eyelashes done every 3 to 4 weeks. I used to drive up to Sarasota and pay almost twice as much. My eyelashes look gorgeous! I have lived in Venice for over 10 years and have been to many salons until I started coming to Tip Top. Love coming here. They are located a few doors down from Publix by the Circle. Convenient as I can get my mani/pedi and eyelashes, and then dash into Black/Gold for a coffee or snack, drop off UPS packages, and then do some shopping at Publix! Oh and if I need a hammer or anything else, Ace Hardware has just opened! read more

I go there because it is close to home (Jacaranda) . No one says hello. Eventually they look up and you feel like you are bothering them. Half the girls look act and talk like they are 1/2 asleep. No one attempts conversation. It is a relatively unpleasant experience that I am glad to be done with when my nails are complete. My nails come out OK ...certinly nothing special. I tip $5 on a $15 dollar fill ......am I a good customer? You Bet! One would think that would matter ...it doesn't. All you get is a groan. Took my mother for her birthday, i have been getting my nails done for years. this is the worst nail job i have ever seen, a complete scam. my nails looked terrible and the nails started breaking off after two days. after i went back and ask them to reduce the nails after two days, they refused and just said sorry. unless you like waisting money don't go here. worst ever. read more

I used to go to Tip Top on Venice Ave when a guy named Hugh worked there, he was awesome at nails, and always did what I wanted, and as perfectly as he possibly could. He was very attentive. He left, due to an insane accusation, I went back and the service, and my nails were never the same. It was an awful experience everytime after that. I even tried the one on Jacaranda, and the experience was just as awful. Dont recommend either nail salon. read more

Dirty. The driers for gel manicures are caked with dirt. The woman who did my nails at Jacaranda cut me, but didn't apologize.

First impression walking in, it wasn't anything spectacular. Nothing too fancy and didn't look extremely organized but I've seen worse. I got a gel pedicure and it turned out great. Same day I had gotten a full set and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. The nail shape was off and each nail was slightly different in length and thickness. Maybe I'm just picky because I've been getting my nails done for years at the same salon in a different state, but I like them to be very narrow and thin with a coffin shape in order to look the most natural and not so bulky. My nail tech was so sweet though, I didn't have the heart to tell her I wasn't happy. Kind employees, just wasn't satisfied with the work. I went to a different salon weeks later and they even said the manicure was poorly done without me saying anything about my poor experience beforehand. That says a lot to me. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I should've read the reviews: dirty, unprofessional . I got shoved off to a new guy; I should've asked to see his Florida license. (This place was NOT busy, the other techs were sucking on their drinks from McDonald's and checking their phones.) He did not understand English . He didn't know how to file nails properly. He used his thumbnail to get rid of excess polish. I had a color selected, he started to put it on and I could tell the polish was old: it went on thick and streaky. When I complained, he just shrugged and kept applying polish. I had him take it all off, and walked out ( I did pay). This is off-season! There are a LOT of nail places in Venice . You can be sure that I will tell EVERYONE to stay away! I will also contact the Sarasota health department and file a complaint . STAY AWAY! read more
