She took the necessary time needed to do my acrylic fill. She was very personable. She even gave me an avocado when she heard I didn't like them but had never actually tried one! FYI I tried it when I got home and guess what?? I like avocados. Go figure! These ladies do such a great job, they don't do walk ins because they are so busy. This place was small and intimate. I liked that there is only a few ppl in the shop. Since it's basically by appt there aren't ppl sitting around and waiting. I don't feel rushed and can really enjoy the experience. Honestly the best pedicure ever. The ladies are so through and the scents they make for the scrub are awesome. Somehow they even talked my hubby into getting his toes painted. I love it here! First of all, call and make an appointment ahead of time. Especially for a manicure, if you want a custom design with acrylics - make sure you allow enough time, approx 2 hrs. For a pedicure, they sometimes can take you the day of. They can literally do any type of nail or anything you show them. I brought in a picture from a nail artist on instagram. They were able to a re-creation via stamp & layering of colors. They can really do any kind of nail art - stamping, layering of stamping, glitter and jewels. It's quite amazing seeing their wall of glitter! I got a pedicure with one of my best friends (we book it the morning of & was able to get in at 3pm!). We left there with a great pedicure and smiles on our faces! We had a great time chatting with the girls in the salon, they were all amazingly friendly! A group of four women went here to prepare for a wedding the same day based on a referral from the wedding planner. Unfortunately they cannot give the 5 star review given by others. In general the pedicures were good and the foot and leg massages were nice. There were four in the wedding party and two were disappointed with their nails. All in the bridal party were surprised they did not use a heat lamp or other method to dry their nails. It seems logical to use a method of drying being the humidity and heat on Hawaii. Everyone thought it odd that the nail person had to put a thinner in the bottle, then when she was done she threw the bottle in the waste basket. After this she pulled it out and gave the discarded bottle to the customer. If it was so bad that she had to throw a bottle in the trash why would she then give it to a customer. It was obviously a bad bottle! The owner said that that my wife " messed up her nails before she left" which is offensive because --- The salon did not dry the nails and she had to go into her purse to get money! OMG if they were properly dried it would not have been an issue and this review would be entirely different. The nail person put acetone on them to fix them. The pictures in this review show what the nails looked like after only one hour and my wife did NOT touch them during that time. The party left the salon as there was a sunset wedding. The nail person said someone would call back the next day. We went back on Tuesday and the salon was closed for personal reasons. Which is fine...everyone has things to take care , we all hope all is well for them. It would have been simpler if the salon did the right thing, the professional thing by refunding the botched nail job, as she said she would do in an email. But of course she has not done so. read more

Love the massage you get with the sugar scrub, though I heard for $10 more you can get the hot stone treatment, I wish I had known! My girl did an excellent job on my feet, they felt 5 lbs lighter by the end and she was gentle when cutting back my cuticles. Fantastic experience here having our mani/pedi done definitely coming back! I surprised my wife & decided to have a couples pedi done by Olana & Jodi. First time we had our pedi done without using a cheese grater which most places that we've been to in Vegas has (will never do that again!) here they did it with this solution which is much healthier for our skin. They are very knowledgeable with keeping our skin healthy & clean. My wife enjoyed her pedi so much that she wanted a mani done & Olana without hesitation said I'll get it done for you even though she just got done doing a mani for another scheduled client. This place is amazing! Noriko is super nice, funny, and talented. It's a small, locally owned and totally chill place. I live an hour and a half away but it was worth the drive! I went there to get my nails done for my wedding and I am in love with it! Noriko understood exactly what I wanted, gave me options, and made it happen. My mom and I happened to walk in and ask if they had anything open, we made appointment for two days later and we are so thankful we did! These girls were so welcoming, friendly and absolutely hilarious! It made the experience so much more personal and fun. My mom and I both have said we have not ever had a better girls mani/pedi day out! Plus our fingers and toes look and feel great! I would very much recommend this shop! Make sure if your thinking about it, to call ahead of time though! We found out the hard way by traveling to almost every shop within a 40 minute drive of Kona to see if we could walk in somewhere and everyone was booked! I wanted to love this place but was sadly disappointed. The girl who answered the phone was a bit rude, felt like she didn't have time for my call. Excuse me! I was given an apprentice who was extremely nice but needed a lot more experience for the cost. If it wasn't for her kindness I would have given the place a 1 star. Time to update my review . This place is the BEST. I am so happy every time I have my nails done here. Everything is so professional yet fun. The atmosphere is light and everyone in the shop at any given time can be part of the common conversation yet if you need a quieter more personal experience you can have that as well. These women are very intuitive and tailor your experience to your own personal style. The salon is Clean and they are well stocked and prepared to do any nail art you want be it glitter nails, stamping, crystals and jewels to beautiful hand painting. There are tons of gel polish colors and the most incredible glitter, metallic and holographic wall ever. And the toes! I get the glitter toes and they last 3 months between pedicures. They also sell bath bombs they manufacture on site. If you're looking for a great experience as well as the greatest nails ever Tips & Toes is that place. These ladies maintain their skills and keep up on the latest and greatest techniques by attending ongoing education so if you see it in a new magazine they'll be able to create it on your Tips and Toes. This place is the best! As if It's not great enough that Christie is back on The Big Island doing nails...she's in Kona at Noriko's shop Tips & Toes! What a great group of women empowering each other in a collaborative learning environment. The shop is beautiful with plenty of top of the line new pedicure chairs and homemade sugar scrubs that I can even buy to take home. The shop is very welcoming and it always feels like visiting family. When someone has free time you'll see them checking on their teammates to see if there is something they can learn from someone else. It's such a collaborative atmosphere and you can tell they want to learn from each other and empower each other. There is never that undercurrent drama that we've all felt at some shops. Made an appt with Olana when I got to the island. We are here for a month every winter and have always just waited until I got back home to have my acrylics done. By the end of vacation they are horrible. But it's scary just going to anyone for nails. I decided to try it this year and am so glad I did. It was so nice to get a fill and have my nails looking good while still on vacation. Olana did a great job and was super nice. Will be going back to her each January. read more

I have been going to Tips & Toes since they opened because I know that I will get the best possible manicure & pedicure on the Island of Hawaii and possibly the U.S.A! I have routinely been getting a French shellac manicure which last at least 3 weeks! I don't have a lot of time to sit around getting my nails done so this is the bomb diggety! I made an appointment here for a no chip manicure and pedicure. It was my first time visiting this salon. Upon arrival my reservation could not be found but I was taken by the woman who checked me in. There was only one other guest being serviced in the salon so it was fairly empty. After spending just a few minutes trying to remove my previous no chip with acetone she proceeded to file off the no chip on each one of my nails. There was no color wheel to view the available no chip nail polish they had on hand which was odd. I noticed the shop seemed very cluttered and not tidy in addition to having quite a large amount of baby items behind the desk which clearly is being used as some sort of daycare from time to time. Not professional and likely very health hazardous to a small child breathing in those nail fumes. She completed my manicure and then also did my pedicure. A nice massage however after I left I noticed both manicure and pedicure polish did not look crisp and I could see the additional layer of nail polish on top of the first so was not well done. My biggest reason for the low rating is due to my nails being very thin from filing off the previous no chip within 10 days of having this manicure - five of my nails broke below the surface which was very painful and ultimately I clipped each one of them completely off. I have had more no chip manicures than I can count at a variety of salons in Chicago and I've never once had someone file each one of them off. Based on the very immature conversation topics and the quality of work I question if this girl actually had her nail license. A friendly place but I'm sure there are much better quality nail salons in Kona and I would not recommend going here unless you need a same-day basic manicure and you can't find anywhere else to go. read more

My nails lasted a REALLY long time without chipping, I was surprised. When I do home-manis I'll usually at least see cracks by the 2nd or 3rd day. Even now, I still have my toes colored, got a few little chips after stubbing my toes so many times but other than that and my nails growing out, it looks just about as it did when I had it done! read more
