I'm attending 6 weddings this year and of course when wedding season begins, I forget to get a pedicure! I was staying at Pacific 19 for a wedding and Hot Nails is probably about a 5 min walk across the street in a plaza. The owner was able to squeeze me in the morning of for a gel pedicure. Small shop with a few tables and about 5 pedi chairs. Staff here are nice, reasonable pricing, and I like that the lady who gave me a pedicure asked me if I liked the color prior to continuing. The gel lasted me about a month with no chipping or peeling! Definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

I got a beautiful gel manicure/pedicure here from Debbie. Debbie and her team were friendly and fun to talk story with, and she did a stunning job with my nails for a wedding. I am disappointed to read some of the low star reviews because that was not my experience at all. Great experience and I would visit again. They were pretty busy and I walked in but next time I would make an appointment. It was a short walk from the King Kamehameha Courtyard Marriott. read more

I got a gel mani pedi here a couple of days before my wedding and got the best, longest lasting manicure I've ever had! I had an appointment for Friday at 11am but they generously accommodated me when I asked to come in at 10am instead. The salon is in a plaza with plenty of parking. It's very clean and everyone is friendly. I got a gel mani pedi and really enjoyed the whole thing, the massage was great. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from. I asked for a French ombré manicure and they really delivered, it looked fantastic! My nails still looked great over 2 weeks later. Terrific place where residents go too. I called around 11 am on a Wednesday and they could take me in a 1/2 hour. Happily walked across the street while my husband was at Chayanid for a haircut (great). Everything was very clean - floors, basins, and chairs. I watched an employee wipe down the whole chair, arm rests - everything after the last client. Everyone there was super nice. Nicole was AWESOME, we had a good conversation and she did a terrific pedicure. LOVE my color. She's there in the summer and on occasion when her sister is out of town. The women (nail techs and guests) gave me great recommendations for things to do and places to eat (Sunset Kai Lanai, Napua fish ponds, Gypsea Gelato, Observatory, Green sand beach, Patisserie Nanako). I'd go down a star as they took me 20 minutes late. However back up a star as they apologized for the wait AND Nicole fixed my big toe after I smooshed it just getting in the car. Was adorned with disposable flip flops and delighted with the results. $40 for the pedicure, reasonable rate and par with what we pay at home. read more

Let me start by saying I have an amazing pedicure! The woman could not have been nicer... the woman who did my nails was short and rude. Needless to say since I was an out of town guest, I was charged $85 for a basic pedicure and $150 for gel nails no design. I feel taken advantage of because I am a tourist. What an awful experience to leave paying over $250 for nails and toes! Horrible! I would not recommend if you are an out of town guest! read more

I got a local recommendation and decided to try doing a walk-in since my schedule was weird... so friendly and available immediately. Had both mani/pedi at same time. Nicole and Brie were awesome and my nails look great. I'd do a photo but I have ugly hands and feet so take my word, the work was amazing. Mahalo read more

Very nice family owned business that was able to accommodate me same day. Pros: Accommodates walk-ins, friendly owner. Cons: Pricey for the limited amount of services provided ($120 for gel mani + pedi). Cost includes cuticle clean-up, soak, polish, oil drops - no lotion massage on hands, calves. Despite the experience, I still tipped generously on top of the $120. Note: $120 includes a $5 tax assessment. Post salon: Nail polish easily peeled off in 7 days... insert sad face. Very disappointed with the outcome, and hope the salon can acknowledge that prices are too steep for the limited amount of services provided. It would have benefited me to paint my own nails and save $120 + tip for the experience. Pictures to follow. read more

My husband and I made an appointment this morning for Pedicures. We made the appointment for 12noon. When we got there -- they were not ready. I see they take walk-ins, that's fine. But my poor husband waited for over an hour with his feet soaking in the tub!! It took a lot for him to agree to this and he finally got up and said "forget it". At one point, they accommodated a "younger" customer before him?! We had appointments also. They never said one word to my husband. We felt like taken advantage of ... It would have been different if they had talked to my husband. They never said one word to him. read more

Kelly was awesome- she helped take off old dip manicure and did a gel one for me since it was obvious I was having allergic reaction to dip. Debbie super personable and engaging and gave my friend her best manicure ever! I will say for the price, on the mainland the salon would have been much more upscale, drinks would have been offered and the whole service would have been premium- including hand/foot masks, extended massage etc.. I have never spent the kind of money on manicures and pedicures that I did here: for two basic gel manis and one basic gel pedicure with added French on toes it was $350 including $50 tip. So: just know before you go- don't assume pricing in Hawaii will be anywhere close to what you might pay on the mainland and if you plan ahead- you'll love Hot Nails. read more

The man who did my french manicures was not good at all. He grinded my soak off gel saying it's a better way. As he burnt my nail with this tool. Then he put the wrong coat on my nails and grinded it off again. Then he forgot to use pick color and only used the white tip Color with one coat of clear. By the time he said he was finished. My nails had one full coat of get polish with the white tips. He charged me $55.00. I asked about the pink color. He just looked at me and said, this in more natural..... The next day my nails we're bending and the tips we're separateing. Was a horrable job and I'll never go back. What a waste of time and money. read more

If you go do not get the male technician. I think his name is Tai. This review is for him. He finished my pedicure in less than 20 mins. Color application was fine but no massage or pumice. My friends finished their pedicures in 45 mins because their person gave them long massages and scrubs. I literally sat there looking at them while I got none. Otherwise the salon seems good. The extra star is mainly for the other workers because they seem to try and do a good job otherwise I would give it 1 star based off of my experience. Again ask for anyone BUT the make technician. You will get a better experience. read more

Make sure to make an appointment. They were really busy when I was there and you may have to wait 5-15 minutes but it's worth it. And after all, it is Hawaii and you are on island time. They had nice massage chairs while getting your pedicure. There were very thorough and both my manicure and pedicure look great. Ask for Kelly!! You won't be disappointed! I had an appointment with my gal pal for 2 gel manis. What really stood out to me was that they placed us next to each other. Something so simple yet, every other nail salon I have been to in Kona tends to separate duos. The point of getting nails done together is to chat and just hang out while getting nails done so I really appreciated that and how nice they were. They pulled up a chair for me to sit next to her while I waited for the next available nail technician. I didn't have to wait too long, maybe 15 minutes max. I am very satisfied with the quality of nail polish and service received. I will be a repeat customer and highly recommend this nail salon. My total without tip was $57 and some change which, to me, is a very very fair price given the prices elsewhere on the island. read more

My friend was referred to Hot Nails by another friend and then made an appointment for a manicure and pedicure. I had nothing better to do so I decided to tag along and see if there was availability for a walk-in. This was in the evening closer to closing time, and there luckily was availability. The available services are nails, waxing, threading, and eyelash extensions. I got a pedicure and a brow wax. There is a good selection of polish colors and brands to choose from. The salon was clean, and the massage chairs were in good condition. The technicians were friendly and personable. I was not aware that one of my toenails was cracked, but my technician noticed right away and made sure it got fixed. I really appreciated her attention to details. My pedicure was pampering, and I looked a lot better after my services. My friend and I were both satisfied with our experiences. I do not remember how much each service costs, but my total after tipping was $75. It definitely is a lot cheaper to get your nails done at an equivalent salon in California, but the prices are pretty reasonable considering that there are not a lot of nail salons on the island and that the cost of living is pretty high. Hot Nails is located in Ilima Court Shopping Center, and parking is plentiful. Walk-ins are welcomed, but it is always best to make an appointment before coming. read more

My daughter and I needed a fill and wanted something nice for New Years! Elaine and Debbie were ahhhhmazing! Elaine went out of her way to fix what the last person messed up on & my nails came out beautifully! She took over about 2 hours to work with me, and I am in love with my nails. Debbie was great with my daughter. She knew exactly what to do to make her happy and comfortable. The pink under her clear glitter was perfect! The place is extremely clean and music was fun. I have been going to Hot Nails for a few years and have always been happy with my pedicure and the service I received. I had a most unsatisfactory experience recently. I had an appointment, and the technician was late arriving. Then after she did her hair and ignored me, finally came to get started. She never said hello or spoke to me. I asked her if there was something wrong and she said she was tired and went to bed too late. While doing my pedicure, she cut two toes and they still haven't healed, more than a week later. I am sad and will look for a new salon. read more

The last time I did my nails was for my wedding 14 years ago. I've always liked the look of manicures, but have always considered myself low maintenance so have avoided doing my nails until I finally gave myself a push to do them. After asking some friends and colleagues for recommendations? I ended up choosing Hot Nails and I'm glad I did. The nail technicians here are professional, clean, and efficient. They also use their knowledge to protect the integrity of your natural nails as much as possible. I'll be back, and quite possibly become a regular. read more

I have gone to the owner Debbie back in 2015-2017. I was a regular til I couldn't work with long nails. Well, this Covid time got me time to treat myself so I went back with an appointment. This is 5 months now and in Feb is when I realized they had gelled my nails and I specifically said do not gel. Her niece 'Vivian' did my hands and yes it was pretty but I was not aware of her cheating me on that. Then of course I was wondering why my bill was $150+. Surely you know that this is a ripp off. No way to run a business especially with locals. Trouble not done, I went to get my manicure redone elsewhere. And low and behold my nails is damaged by the gel and til now I cannot do my nails. I hope you guys know this needs to be fixed and treat your customers with respect. I dont care how busy you are! Do your job at your best and stop ripping us off!! read more

Took my daughter in to get her nails done for prom. I called and schedule a gel mani for her & regular pedi for myself. We arrived early and they graciously accommodated us, which was nice. However, - and this is the reason for the 3 stars (I would give lower because it was highly disappointing but they did a really nice job on my daughters nails) immediately they tried upselling us. They offered a treatment that was double the price but didn't say anything until I asked the extra cost. I declined my pedicure so my daughter could get the nails she wanted for prom because we are on a budget. They also thought we were both getting manis and pedis even though when I scheduled, I clearly stated 1 mani & 1 pedi total. And they initially tried to give me a gel pedi until I declined completely. I felt like they were trying to get more money from us even when I said we were on a budget. I'm didn't feel respected and they didn't acknowledge me when I said thank you. I still gave a tip though. read more

The prices are way to high. I got an acrylic set with gel polish. Because I chose gel, this increased the price by $30! Making my total a whopping $94! With a $10 tip, this should have brought my total up to $104, but when I checked my bank later I saw that I was charged $119 and some change. The nails i got were not worth $100. They were $50-60 at most. The employees were nice and the salon was clean but I will try to find a cheaper option... read more

Been here a few times and had pretty decent experiences but today's experience just did me in. Went in around 10am for a gel pedicure and I was done by 10:25am. The fastest pedicure of my life. She basically soaked my feet for just a few minutes cut my nails did a fast little pumice scrub that didn't get much of the dry skin off and she was off to polishing. She didn't clean under my nails. Mean while she had a crazy attitude because one of her workers was a-little late and the other worker scheduled a bunch of people to come in. I was just so disappointed because she seemed to be the "boss" and she presented her and her company crappy. She had no pride in her service with me. I work in the same service industry of health and beauty and I honestly didn't tip her because she already charged me $55 for a half ass job and her attitude carried out in her service. read more

*Make sure you know exactly how much they are charging you!* I had actually called the salon before arriving asking about the price of a gel manicure including removal. I was told it was $50 and confirmed that it also included current gel removal. When I arrived, I had mentioned to them that I had powder polish on. At no point was I told that the powder removal would be an additional $25. It's disheartening writing this review, because the manicure experience itself was fine. The staff was relatively friendly and seemed helpful. I can't speak of the quality of the manicure because I don't know how long it'll last yet. When the total came out to almost $80, I was told that the manicure itself was $50 and the removal was $25. When I mentioned I had asked originally for the price of both together, the employee that told me the incorrect information said "my bad". She said she that she did not hear me correctly, even though I had confirmed it before even going to the store. Although I feel like $25 is outrages to charge for just removal, it is their right to charge. My biggest complaint is that I felt lied to, and wasn't given the right information from the start. If I didn't ask, then shame on me. Since I asked, and was given the wrong information shame on them. I felt lied to, and I definitely did not walk out feeling good about my overall experience. read more

if you want to get robbed, this is the place to go! my friend and i made appointments for 3 pm. we were not seen until 3:45 and it was the most expensive gel manicure i've ever received. wouldn't have been an issue if it lasted a long time, but it lasted me about 3 days before it starting chipping (which never is an issue for me with gel in the 10 years I've been getting it). avoid at all costs. read more

I have so many positive things to say of this place and nothing negative. The man we spoke with worked hard to get us in. He took our number and secured our place. When we arrived he was waiting to take us in. Our therapists were waiting elegantly like the red carpet had been rolled out just for us. We were welcomed and treated like royalty from the beginning. My family raved of the experience as 5 stars. However, I am the one writing the review for my therapist Tish. She was like a Goddess with the gift of touch and majestic healing in her hands. There was an immediate connection spiritually that flowed in sync throughout the entire experience between us. Tish has a natural, and no doubt, defined skill to identify and move through coordinating with the energy of herself and her guest. I am honored to have shared a piece of her and her of me.
