I was staying at Pacific 19 for a wedding and Hot Nails is probably about a 5 min walk across the street in a plaza. The owner was able to squeeze me in the morning of for a gel pedicure. Small shop with a few tables and about 5 pedi chairs. I got a gel mani pedi here a couple of days before my wedding and got the best, longest lasting manicure I've ever had! I had an appointment for Friday at 11am but they generously accommodated me when I asked to come in at 10am instead. The salon is in a plaza with plenty of parking. It's very clean and everyone is friendly. I got a gel mani pedi and really enjoyed the whole thing, the massage was great. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from. I asked for a French ombré manicure and they really delivered, it looked fantastic! My nails still looked great over 2 weeks later. Terrific place where residents go too. I called around 11 am on a Wednesday and they could take me in a 1/2 hour. Happily walked across the street while my husband was at Chayanid for a haircut (great). Everything was very clean - floors, basins, and chairs. I watched an employee wipe down the whole chair, arm rests - everything after the last client. Everyone there was super nice. Nicole was AWESOME, we had a good conversation and she did a terrific pedicure. LOVE my color. She's there in the summer and on occasion when her sister is out of town. The women (nail techs and guests) gave me great recommendations for things to do and places to eat (Sunset Kai Lanai, Napua fish ponds, Gypsea Gelato, Observatory, Green sand beach, Patisserie Nanako). I'd go down a star as they took me 20 minutes late. However back up a star as they apologized for the wait AND Nicole fixed my big toe after I smooshed it just getting in the car. Despite the experience, I still tipped generously on top of the $120. Note: $120 includes a $5 tax assessment. Post salon: Nail polish easily peeled off in 7 days... insert sad face. Very disappointed with the outcome, and hope the salon can acknowledge that prices are too steep for the limited amount of services provided. Kelly was awesome- she helped take off old dip manicure and did a gel one for me since it was obvious I was having allergic reaction to dip. Debbie super personable and engaging and gave my friend her best manicure ever! I will say for the price, on the mainland the salon would have been much more upscale, drinks would have been offered and the whole service would have been premium- including hand/foot masks, extended massage etc.. I have never spent the kind of money on manicures and pedicures that I did here: for two basic gel manis and one basic gel pedicure with added French on toes it was $350 including $50 tip. The man who did my french manicures was not good at all. He grinded my soak off gel saying it's a better way. As he burnt my nail with this tool. Then he put the wrong coat on my nails and grinded it off again. Then he forgot to use pick color and only used the white tip Color with one coat of clear. By the time he said he was finished. My nails had one full coat of get polish with the white tips. He charged me $55.00. I asked about the pink color. He just looked at me and said, this in more natural..... Something so simple yet, every other nail salon I have been to in Kona tends to separate duos. The point of getting nails done together is to chat and just hang out while getting nails done so I really appreciated that and how nice they were. They pulled up a chair for me to sit next to her while I waited for the next available nail technician. I didn't have to wait too long, maybe 15 minutes max. I am very satisfied with the quality of nail polish and service received. I will be a repeat customer and highly recommend this nail salon. My friend was referred to Hot Nails by another friend and then made an appointment for a manicure and pedicure. I had nothing better to do so I decided to tag along and see if there was availability for a walk-in. This was in the evening closer to closing time, and there luckily was availability. The available services are nails, waxing, threading, and eyelash extensions. I got a pedicure and a brow wax. There is a good selection of polish colors and brands to choose from. The salon was clean, and the massage chairs were in good condition. The technicians were friendly and personable. I was not aware that one of my toenails was cracked, but my technician noticed right away and made sure it got fixed. I really appreciated her attention to details. My pedicure was pampering, and I looked a lot better after my services. My friend and I were both satisfied with our experiences. I do not remember how much each service costs, but my total after tipping was $75. It definitely is a lot cheaper to get your nails done at an equivalent salon in California, but the prices are pretty reasonable considering that there are not a lot of nail salons on the island and that the cost of living is pretty high. This is 5 months now and in Feb is when I realized they had gelled my nails and I specifically said do not gel. Her niece 'Vivian' did my hands and yes it was pretty but I was not aware of her cheating me on that. Then of course I was wondering why my bill was $150+. Surely you know that this is a ripp off. Took my daughter in to get her nails done for prom. I called and schedule a gel mani for her & regular pedi for myself. We arrived early and they graciously accommodated us, which was nice. However, - and this is the reason for the 3 stars (I would give lower because it was highly disappointing but they did a really nice job on my daughters nails) immediately they tried upselling us. They offered a treatment that was double the price but didn't say anything until I asked the extra cost. I declined my pedicure so my daughter could get the nails she wanted for prom because we are on a budget. They also thought we were both getting manis and pedis even though when I scheduled, I clearly stated 1 mani & 1 pedi total. And they initially tried to give me a gel pedi until I declined completely. I felt like they were trying to get more money from us even when I said we were on a budget. The prices are way to high. I got an acrylic set with gel polish. Because I chose gel, this increased the price by $30! Making my total a whopping $94! Been here a few times and had pretty decent experiences but today's experience just did me in. Went in around 10am for a gel pedicure and I was done by 10:25am. The fastest pedicure of my life. She basically soaked my feet for just a few minutes cut my nails did a fast little pumice scrub that didn't get much of the dry skin off and she was off to polishing. She didn't clean under my nails. Mean while she had a crazy attitude because one of her workers was a-little late and the other worker scheduled a bunch of people to come in. I was just so disappointed because she seemed to be the "boss" and she presented her and her company crappy. She had no pride in her service with me. *Make sure you know exactly how much they are charging you!* I had actually called the salon before arriving asking about the price of a gel manicure including removal. I was told it was $50 and confirmed that it also included current gel removal. When I arrived, I had mentioned to them that I had powder polish on. At no point was I told that the powder removal would be an additional $25. It's disheartening writing this review, because the manicure experience itself was fine. The staff was relatively friendly and seemed helpful. I can't speak of the quality of the manicure because I don't know how long it'll last yet. When the total came out to almost $80, I was told that the manicure itself was $50 and the removal was $25. When I mentioned I had asked originally for the price of both together, the employee that told me the incorrect information said "my bad". She said she that she did not hear me correctly, even though I had confirmed it before even going to the store. Although I feel like $25 is outrages to charge for just removal, it is their right to charge. My biggest complaint is that I felt lied to, and wasn't given the right information from the start. If I didn't ask, then shame on me. Since I asked, and was given the wrong information shame on them.
