The wares inside are lovely, especially the cards, they have some beautiful ones that you could frame as a series of pictures. They do fresh soups, sandwiches, quiches, salads and cakes. I had a really tasty panini with bacon, cream cheese and sundried tomato; the scones and cakes all looked delicious too. Worth a stop when paying homage to one of Ireland's greats buried beneath mighty Ben Bulben's shadow.

I love the Irish language, history, geography, and genealogy. My eldest is a sculptor by trade. So a family visit to Michael Quirke's Wine Street Shop is always a highlight of our summer. We have purchased 5 different carved pieces through the years. We gifted one as a wedding present, too. The couple loved it, and are were not even Irish! Michael Quirke is a delightful person. He is very gracious. He's a gifted story teller and a magnificent carver. Each visit has been wonderful and unique. There is no ordering online. And I don't believe he ships. We have had a cousin drive to Sligo and pick up items for us then mail them to the USA when we haven't purchased them in person. So its been a firm feature throughout my childhood and adulthood. I would come here every week to buy a few second hand books, as I was such a fast reader. Many of the significant books of my childhood came from here - my first loves, as it were. As other independent bookstores in the town have closed their doors, I'm pleased that Liber has just seemed to get bigger and better. The store is modern, and offers the latest texts. Unlike other chain stores in the town I won't bother to name, the staff know what they're talking about, and are always more than happy to help you make your selection. The second hand book section is no longer a significant feature, but they have the latest titles in every section - food, art, new releases, childrens books, and they have a dedicated Yeats and Sligo section. Down the back of the store is Third Wave Music, where you can buy vinyl, record players, cds and dvds. A small but well curated selection of music, reflecting the tastes of its owner. If I'm buying a book, I'll wait to come home to Sligo to buy locally - my loyalty is a direct result of the staff and the atmosphere the place creates. The branding is contemporary and I'm always proud to give friends the gifts of books, wrapped in a Liber Sligo paper bag. Liber is also a ticketmaster outlet.

I ordered several items @ €260 + €57 for the delivery which I could not get locally for a job last Friday night/Saturday morning as I was working late because I was under pressure to get a job finished and this seemed the easiest quickest option. Long story short I called at least ten times and that's not an exaggeration to be told six of those times someone would call me back by Gillian who kept saying she didn't know anything about online orders and seemed completely inept and or just didn't want to pass on my messages, I finally spoke to Crona who had sent an email one week after my order that my items had been dispatched and it'll be 2-3 working days from today Friday the 7th of Feb. When I spoke to Crona she told me it would be "probably Monday or Tuesday maybe" the absolute disregard she showed me towards the end of the call was absolutely disgusting. She just kept coming up with excuses and absolutely no solution to the issue which has now had a massive impact on my business and cost me thousands from loosing a contract and delaying my next project. I was then told by Crona a manager would call me back needless to say they did not. I called back again two hours later as it was half four to be told by Gillian she would get a manager to call me back which they did not do. I'm beyond fuming at this stage with the absolute disregard to the effect it's having on the customer. Do not use this money grabbing business as they do not care about the customer in any way whatsoever and actually seemed to go out of their way to wind me up and disrespect me as a customer

Top quality clothing at, admittedly, top quality pricing, but the experience is well worth it. They know their products and they know and stock, only, the best. Best of all, John Mullaney, seems to know as much Irish-American history as anyone in Ireland and is happy to share his knowledge with his customers. I will return to the Mullaney Brothers, most probably via their internet site, to add to my small collection of Irish woolens, most of which are made from fairly local wool. There are hardly any top notch, independent clothiers left in the states anymore and a visit to Mullaney Brothers is not to be missed when in Sligo. It's a real treat to do business with a first class clothier. Warning: bring money.
