We were completely blown away by this place! Visiting Quincy for a college baseball game. After the game, wanted to find a safe place to eat...reviews were good, so we gave it a shot. Wow! Some of the most authentic, best tasting Italian food you'll get...and the price is so right! Might be the best tortellini I've ever had. Chicken fettuccine was very flavorful. Chicken parmigiana was terrific...and the pork chop was huge and extremely tender. If you're ever in Quincy this is the restaurant to try! Update to past review. Original owner Roberto and his family moved to Florida as he was ready to retire. He had brought in a partner (Ilya) maybe a couple years or better before retiring, so the handover was seamless. Ilya and wife Susannah run the operation now and are every bit as customer and quality focused as Roberto. Tiramisu is for us the only option for truly handcrafted casual to fine dining. I'm comfortable there in cargo shorts and polo shirt or 3 piece suit. Fair prices for authentic Italian fare. If you haven't tried them yet, do yourself a favor and get over there! read more

Beautiful restaurant in a newish location on the Square in Quincy, Illinois. (Don't you dare ask "Where?!") From here, you are 20 minutes from Mark Twain's Hannibal on the Mississippi River. You can visit Tom Sawyer's cave, Twain's boyhood home, and ride a paddle-wheel steamer on the Mississippi in the same day. The food was four stars, the service was four stars, ambiance five stars. The new owners, long involved, made a good choice to move to this location. Lovely for a night out with your wife or friends. The food and wine are very reasonably priced. You will not think you are eating in Italy, but maybe in a neighborhood Italian restaurant in Chicago. Being on the Mississippi in western Illinois, this is a pleasant surprise. One waitress, a "local favorite" I heard on the way in, was really watching her tables and making diners very happy. She should teach the rest of the wait staff. The guy from the bar, delivering a bottle of wine to a table, should not carry it on his shoulder. (I swear I saw this. I was only one glass into my bottle of wine. To be honest, btw, I do not think the Tua Rita Tuscan wine was actually a Super Tuscan as advertised. It was meh. But next time I am going to try the Barolo at $69. Or the Amarone, if it's my birthday.) In summary, this is a good to very good restaurant that could be excellent with a few adjustments. The owners and the staff have a great attitude, but the wait staff could use a little more training. And the kitchen could use a few tweaks from the Chicago Italians who founded the restaurant. My husband chose the Penne Verde Paesana and thought it was delicious. The Tiramisu was pudding style (as we had in Italy) rather than a cake and was super. Such a wonderful experience here. Last week, I'd eaten a chicken parm in St. James, MO that left a lot to be desired. I was hesitant to have another negative experience with the dish, but was blown away by Tiramisu's. Both the quality of food and the quality of service were superb. I only ordered for take out, but was cared for and treated well while placing my order and while picking it up. The portion was exceptionally generous, and every bite was perfect and delicious. The chicken was tender, nicely golden, with a wonderful ratio of sauce and slightly broiled cheese. The sauce on the pasta had chunks of tomato, and was generously coated (it was still delectable when I picked up the leftovers several hours later - they didn't make it to the next day as I'd planned). I'd also ordered the tiramisu, and was slightly disappointed at the sponginess of the cake when I took my first bite (soon after getting back into my car). When I finally arrived at my destination and gave it another taste, it was also divine. It had apparently been prepared freshly/to order, and the cream just needed a bit of time to soak into the delicate fingers. All around a great experience, and one I'm looking forward to repeating. read more

The best meal we had during the entire Missouri-Illinois stretch of a recent road trip was at Tiramisu, hands down. Warning: this type of Italian food is what I've heard critics of it refer to as the "New Jersey style of Italian food", e.g. it's heavy cream, thick sauces, fatty meats, lots of calories and big portions. So if you're looking for light Italian fair that borrows from a Meditaranean style of diet or whatnot look elsewhere. That type is also good but----this certainly hit the spot and was DELICIOUS. We tried the peppers & Sausage appetizer which was juicy and tasty. My wife kept it simple with fettucine alfredo topped with shrimp. She remarked that the alfredo sauce was quite possibly the best she'd ever had and couldn't imagine eating the type most places dish out ever again after experiencing this one. I had the tortellini dish that came with smoked ham and peas, also topped with that delicious alfredo sauce. I added a couple of meatballs on the side as that was an app we had wanted to try too. I agreed with my wife on the quality of the alfredo and unlike her--who had to give up her plate stuffed full and disappointed she couldn't finish it--I ate every bite. The smoked ham was on point and the meatballs were terrific. We got a piece of tiramisu to go and ate it later that evening in our room. Oddly enough for being the dish this place is named after it was the one thing that didn't blow us away but it was still better than average and a bit better than just "good". It was particularly noisy inside and I don't know if that's a standard issue--I only mention it in case you're planning a romantic meal here. The service was fast and friendly, the space was comfortable and inviting. The prices were more than fair. I didn't see any cocktails on the menu though I'm sure they have them but the wine and beer options are solid. They also close relatively early, 9pm even on a Friday or Saturday night, so get there in time to enjoy a full meal. read more

I was not sure what to expect food-wise on our trip to Quincy, IL. My husband and I were out with friends the weekend before we left to come down and I mentioned to our friends that my sister and I were heading down the following weekend. They often visit the area and recommended a great hotel and a fantastic restaurant we HAVE to check out, Tiramisu!! Ok, bookmarked it right away on Yelp!! Being from Chicago, I wasn't sure if I could actually find good Italian food in Quincy, Illinois, but we wanted to take our little brother to a nicer restaurant for dinner and this was one of practically zero options in the area. That, and my friend's recommendation encouraged us to go here, so off we went! We made a reservation earlier in the day to ensure we had a table for dinner and I'm glad we did that because the place was pretty packed! The location is an interesting one, but then again, all of Quincy is a little different. The exterior of the restaurant is pretty darling. I posted some pics on Yelp to see. It's in an older building (as most of the buildings in downtown Quincy are) and the interior is very relaxing. It's well lit, but the ambiance is comfortable. The restaurant is a bit longer than you realize. We sat near what I thought was the rear of the dining room, but throughout our meal learned there was a whole additional private room in the back where they were hosting, what I could only figure was, a rehearsal dinner or possibly an engagement celebration. The menu is printed on a regular 8.5" x 11" white piece of paper which leads me to believe one of three things. 1.) They are regularly making changes to the items or pricing on the menu. 2.) They are trying to keep their costs down and rather than print a permanent menu, they just print off their menu from a inkjet printer. 3.) They only have this menu on the weekends (we were there on a Friday night) and this is their way of doing it. Either way, the menu had some food on it and it was wrinkled up pretty good, so it had been, shall we say, "well-used". But it gets the job done. Our server, Dawn, started us off with a Calamari app and it was very nice. The calamari was fresh from what I could tell and there was a lovely balance of "rings" and "legs" (I don't know the technical term for either LOL) It was also a glimpse of what was to come as it was served with their marinara sauce which I learned is the only red sauce they make here. There is no meat sauce here, kids! Which brings me to my other disappointment...they only have bread and butter...a little olive oil and parmesan cheese would have been a nice touch! Something to consider. The salad dressing was excellent and reminded me of my Grandfather's but the salad was overdressed and weighed down the lettuce so it was a little wilted. Less dressing would have made this the perfect salad! The food was well prepared and tasted fantastic. My chicken parmesan was very good, sadly, my pasta on the plate was not drained completely so it left the bottom of the plate filled with water and instead of allowing it to sit too long, I had them bring me a separate plate to put my chicken on so it didn't get soggy and that did the trick. My brother allowed me to taste his Salsiccia Griglia and it was excellent. A perfect meal my husband would have enjoyed had he been with us (minus the mushrooms) Finally, we shared their TIRAMISU for dessert...I mean how could you not have the tiramisu at Tiramisu?! It was very nice and from what we could tell, there wasn't any alcohol in it, which we all appreciated. I have a feeling that we'll be swinging by when we're down here next time for my sister to grab an order of their tiramisu to-go as a snack! Speaking of to-go, they offer their wine at HALF PRICE to-go! I grabbed a bottle to take home as a souvenir from my special weekend I got to spend with my sister and baby brother who's about to graduate from Quincy University just up the road! Overall, this place is very nice and they kinda need this establishment in Quincy so the locals have a good place to go for dinner. I give them 4 stars because they deserve it in comparison to their local competition. If they work out the little details, they would easily have received a 5 star review from me because their food is GREAT. I was in Quincy for business and the customer invited me for dinner at Tiramisu. As soon as I walked in I knew I was going to enjoy my meal. First off the interior is quite pleasant with 20' ceilings and white tablecloths, with scenes from a movie on the walls. The tables are perfectly placed so you don't feel crammed together. It was a Wednesday night at 7:30 and the place was packed - pretty impressive for an upscale restaurant in a small city. Menu was everything that I like and wished I could have tried more. I had calamari which was done perfectly. The bread was warm and served with good olive oil and Parmesan cheese something I prefer over butter. I had a perfectly prepared Caesar salad followed by a special that night of Sea bass with a butter and caper sauce it was also very good. Drinks and wine were all good, the owner came over and recommended a bottle for us and it was a very good selection. The wait staff was also exceptional our waiter Lupe was a waiter at some of my favorite places in Chicago. He had been in Quincy since Tiramisu opened. My advice if you want a great Italian meal get your butt in there. read more

Food was good. It was also quick. The red sauce was so mild and fantastic. My mouths watering right now lol. I need to learn how to make it. Service was good. She was in top of things. They also helped each other Out very well. Ambiance, well, personally, but not speaking for my date, towards the end of our meal I felt like everyone waiting for a table were watching us. It was homecoming so it was busy. I think the waiting area should be more a place to lounge and let the anticipation build separated greatly or at least appear that way, from the dining room. Not stand there and scope it out. We had to weave through quite a few to get out the door when we were done. An interior designer could probably remedy this cheaper than what I have in mind lol. I'm not a business man. I just know what makes me comfortable, what builds my excitement and that there are a lot of people out there who are as weird as me in social situations. Service and entrees are always excellent as is their signature dessert. Good wine list with some nice lower-cost options. Chicken parm is best I've had including several places on The Hill in StL. Pricing is very competitive and ambiance is good, especially at new location. I take away a star based on very mediocre house salad and bread with meal. To me, these are 2 areas where a restaurant can stand out and they just don't. Even if they offered a better option/upgrade on the salad for $ to a more upscale Italian salad (including pimento, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, special vinaigrette) rather than lettuce, a few carrot shreds and an onion ring with off the shelf vinaigrette, would be a welcome option. And something as simple as 15 second 'freshen' of the bread in the microwave would help there. All said, those smaller areas of opportunity won't keep me away, just lessen my frequency. read more

Excellent customer service, ambiance (check out the new, permanent location!) and Consistently cooked/plated dishes. In a town with fairly dismal food prospects, Tiramisu shines as an upscale Italian eatery. The Rolli is a local favorite, as well as the Ravioli Salsa Rosa. Bruchetta Romano(especially when tomato's are in season!) is scrumptious, and nearly has enough garlic, even for me. The Verde pasta with crushed Italian sausage and mushrooms, as well as the Scampi Italia, round out things nicely on either end. The restaurant's namesake dessert, is equally rich and satisfying. Lunch portions are quite large, while less impactful on the pocketbook. A personal favorite and I hope they're here for a long while. read more

Great place to dine in this town. We were here for a wedding and there is not much in Quincy. We stopped in pretty close to the kitchen closing down and they got us served and fed in no time. Great wine selection at all prices. Shrimp scampi, fried ravioli, portobello appetizers were super good. Their seafood was good but if you like spicy you really need to ask for it. Guys with us ordered chicken parm and literally got 5 pounds of chicken parm with pasta. We all split cheese cake and tiramisu. The tiramisu is the most amazing thing ever with super heavy whipped cream on top. Service was great. I was desperate for WiFi in this town and they even hooked me up to theirs while I ate. read more
