Quincy shocked me with good Italian food! I'm from the suburbs of Chicago and so we have quality, authentic Italian food at our fingertips at all times. In addition, my mom's side of the family is from Naples, Italy (not Florida), so I've been spoiled rotten with good food all my life. When we went to Quincy to visit our brother at Quincy University, I anticipated a bar food dinner followed by lots of bar action followed by even more bar action. But then I remembered that he is maturing a bit and knows that a good meal in his belly before hitting the bar is often a good idea. And so we asked where he wanted to go for dinner. He had some ideas, but we took to Yelp and found tiramisu. Actually I did that. My sister talked with a buddy who frequents the area and he suggested tiramisu. At that point, it was a go. I called during the day on Friday and made a reservation. I'm glad that I did because as the night wore on they did get busy. Parking was in a large lot directly across the street from the restaurant. When we walked in, I could immediately smell the love in the air! AKA garlic. It smelled wonderful! We were seated about halfway back at a table that seemed to be in everyone's way. It didn't matter though, we were glad to be there. Our server has been there for many years with owner, Roberto. I think tiramisu has been there 18+ years, but don't quote me on that one. She was a little curt when we first arrived, but rapidly warmed up and I wanted to put her in my pocket by the time we left! Roberto knows what he's doing. He spent years living in the Chicagoland area - I actually knew the neighborhood when he told me the crossroads! He was a gem and a model small business owner. So as good as the food was, I'm still convinced there's always room for improvement. The bread was yummy! But the buttery spread was not impressive. Some olive oil and cheese would have been preferred. The salad dressing was really well made, but the salad was a little overdressed. The chicken Parmesan was very good! I'm a pain and didn't want a tomato or an Alfredo sauce, so they made me a garlic wine type sauce for my pasta without blinking an eye. I was very grateful! The calamari was surprisingly good. It was not overly chewy and there were plenty of legs for me to nosh on. Those are my favorite! Our brother tried a sausage and peppers dish. It was a hearty serving with great flavors represented. I love being able to taste a little of everything! Thanks for sharing, Daniel! To wrap things up, we ordered the tiramisu. When in Rome... We shouldn't have. The diners at our table really need to keep the lactose intake to a minimum, but that didn't stop us. That tiramisu was one of my favorite representations ever!! There was no rum, so I was able to enjoy the different layers without being overwhelmed by that boozy flavor. It was a nice portion for sharing, but had I taken it to go and eaten it in the privacy of my hotel room, it is very possible that I could have eaten the whole thing. Just saying. ;-) read more

While I'm not a fan of tiramisu the dish, I am a huge fan of this place. I'd go back if I ever find myself back in Quincy, Illinois. Or even anywhere near it. Walked over from my hotel at 7:30 on Friday, place was packed inside but that's a good thing right? And the owner Roberto himself was the guy seating me and apologized quite a bit for it being busy. I asked the waitress what was good and about their allegedly "world famous" pink sauce. She promised me it was "divine." Alright, I figured I'd trust her. By the way, pink sauce is simply a mix of mostly alfredo with a bit of marinara. But you get the best of both. It's creamy and smooth but has some bite to it also. I got the special, fettucine pasta with spinach, pink sauce, shrimp and lobster. I'm not normally a huge fan of seafood but wow I licked the plate. Freaking delicious. Normally I'm all about hyperbole but wow, that stuff was simply incredibly. The place is huge and it seemed like their could be more servers on the floor. But my server was very funny and charming, got my drink and check taken care of quickly and she had... huge... tracts of land. Truly a delicious meal in a pleasant environment for not much money. This place is the place to go to for some of the best Italian food in the world. Everything is so fresh and well balance. The fettuccine Alfredo with chicken had taste and a sauce that was perfection, not too heavy and so fresh tasting and the chicken was tender and well seasoned. We also had the sausage/cheese stuffed cannelloni. The sausage was a blend of sweet, seasoned and the perfect texture and cheese all blended in a delicate tomato sauce. Our salads were crisp, cold and the lettuce was fresh , they used the whole leaf-not just the middle tough parts. The service was friendly and efficient. tiramisu may spell its name in pretentious lowercase, but the service there is anything but. Roberto and his family bring genuine warmth to the place, and the ambiance is swanky but understated. The cosy tables, classy wall trimmings, and elegant lighting are what one might expect to find in a good restaurant in the middle of a much larger city, with a side of down-home friendliness. The food is also equal to what you might find in a big-city bistro as well -- at nearly half the cost. Roberto's mouth-watering homemade sausage dishes would easily start at $20 in an urban area, but they are a steal here. Take your server's wine suggestion and enjoy a fantastic date night at a fraction of the cost. If only Quincy weren't so far away :) read more

We are not from the area and happen to stop in Quincy to get gas while on our travels up north. While at the small airport - we decided to check YELP to see what was close and recommended. After lucking out at the first restaurant destination we had gone too we came here and oh boy, were we so happy that we did! This place is A-mazing... by far the best Italian food I had ever eaten thus far in my life, hands down!!! And the pizza - WOW!!! loved every single bite of the food - and with the nice pairing of wine that was recommended by our server... freaking we felt like we were in heaven! A very nice establishment and when we came - was a beautiful day and located in a gorgeous building/ area with the water view not to far from it. The staff members and owners were very nice - the interior very classy. What amazed us was that it just continued getting busier and busier as it got later in the day - and by the time we were finished with our meal - the place was packed! I can see why this place has such high reviews. I would definitely recommend this place - if you are around town. As for us, we will make sure that when we are flying - that the pilot stops once again in Quincy so that we can do it all over again! read more

Tiramisu was recommended to my mom and me when we stopped by Villa Kathrine to take a tour. We couldn't have been more pleased with our dinner! All of the food was delicious (especially the entrees and tiramisu for dessert). I had the Rigatoni Mozzarella (the sauce was incredible!) and my mom had the Corvina Piccata. Delicious food. The verde paesana has a lovely garlic unctuousness. And the tiramisu for dessert is a must have!

This gem is located in a stunningly beautiful historic building. Decor inside is charming with wonderful booths. The service is warm, friendly, kind and attentive. The food? Outstanding. Beer: we tried an Illinois offering, Two Brothers Domaine Dupage French Country Ale. Very nice, even to this dark-beer-lover. Side salad: simple and fresh, with delicious dressing. Perfect. Soprano pizza as an appetizer: this was so tasty. The meatballs are incredible, maybe made with sausage? The Italian sausage on it is tasty too. Sauce, cheese and crust are perfection. Entrees: My boyfriend had the Pasta of the Month, a Spaghetti Scampi. It was tasty though the "roasted" tomatoes were just barely singed. As a tomato hater, I did not enjoy that. I had the Scampi Capa.... Something. It has shrimp and scallops, in a light and rich scampi wine sauce. Asparagus and artichoke hearts too... It was delicious! Welcomed by what seemed like the owner, he was extremely kind and helpful! I was immediately met with a nice young lady who served me water. My waiter came over immediately and returned quickly with my merlot and a nice loaf of bread. I got a house salad a minute later which was excellent. I ordered the shrimp and oyster pasta dish, I don't remember the name of it, but it was good. I expected more of a white sauce, but it was a thin butter sauce that lacked a strong taste, so not what I was expecting but it was good. I had to get tiramisu, even though I was full. I got it to go but after a sneak taste, I couldn't stop eating it! The flavor was out-of-the-park!!! Best custard I've ever had! Just got done eating at Tiramisu. Quite possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. First, the manager/host at the front acted annoyed we were even there. Everyone is buzzing around like a bunch of chaotic bees. Our waiter didn't spend more than 2 seconds at our table simply took our orders or dropped our food off. No introductions, no check ins about our food. Nothing. Our bruschetta was burned, they acted annoyed that we turned it away. Our side salad was just lettuce and carrots tossed lazily on a plate. No one noticed we never got bread at our table. Our food was mediocre at best. Tasted like it came out of a can or had been sitting on the line all day. Sauce was splatted all over the plates. I witnessed the manager/host curse at an elderly employee for "taking too long". Other employees avoided this manager by either turning away or diverting eyes to avoid confrontation, all the while he's muttering swear words to himself. Does not create an atmosphere I want to spend my time and money in. Everyone is raving about the new location. I personally found it too loud and open to have a conversation with the person across from me. Couple that with the chaotic waitstaff and constant traffic in the dining room.... Let's just say i will likely never be back again. Very disappointed. Do better Tiramisu. read more

I finally had the opportunity to eat at Tiramisu!!! It was a Saturday night and we had reservations for 8 people , a bday celebration. I am not from Quincy but have family here, and heard wonderful things about the restaurant and the owner. The waiter was nice, we rarely saw him. I ordered a glass of Malbec, and was unable to get a second for lack of service. 20 minutes for my friends daughter to get her lemonade, food was served lukewarm and dead, I ordered a pasta with scallops, served cold and literally had a scallop cut into fourths, which I only received 3/4 of, some shrimp. It was delicious!! Just cold. I know the service is awesome because the couple next to us had a waiter and the owner making sure they had a great experience!! All we wanted was a great night out with good food, we are just average people. A complete waste of time and money for us. We left disappointed and hungry. read more

After being in Quincy for a few months, I finally found a good restaurant in Tiramisu that I could visit frequently. I ordered the Guazzetto di pesce, which is seafood stew, that came with house salad. I also got a side order of sautéed spinach. One star was taken off for the lack of garlic in my spinach. Some of them were still dry so it felt and tasted like they rushed the order. The tiramisu was good but not great. Its portion is enough for two people. I finished my meal and was close to crawling out of the restaurant. I was so full but overall satisfied. I will be back. read more

Super busy but they were able to get us a table as walk ins rather quick. The main restaurant was super loud so was happy to be seated in the back where it has less environment but also less noise. The servers were so busy but I did hear them say someone was out. So I felt bad for them; regardless service was super fast once they got to us. I had pasta and my son pizza and both were so good. tiramisu, they spell it in all lower case to be cool. And it is just that, cool. With its warm, dimly lit ambiance it reminds me of some of my favorite places in larger metropolitan areas. The food is excellent, the service is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. They have a pretty large wine menu as well. I had the Rolli, a homemade pasta stuffed with spinach, ham and ricotta in four cheese sauce with a touch of tomato. It was enormous I took half of it home and for only $10.95 I got a salad too. My friend got fettuccine and said it was outstanding too. We finished our meals with dessert, my friend choosing amazing chocolate moose- cooked to perfection and I tried (can't remember the name) but an Italian version of chilled flan or custard made with Kahlua- amazing. We practically had to be rolled out the door with half of our food in hand. The restaurant was pretty busy at about 9 PM when we arrived, however because it is Quincy the kitchen closes around 9. tiramisu appears to be the place where groups of couples in their late 20's- 40's dine out with friends when the have a baby sitter. So although it has a romantic unpretentious feel, a few tables were a little noisy, after what I presume to be a little too much wine. read more

OMG, well I was told that this is the real Italian owned b and Italian who married Slovak girl in Quincy, IL. So sondes good so why not. As I'm walking in I missed the curve and fell YIKES!! A sweet lady named Lenie saw it happen picked up my keys and sat down next to me. She was so sweet so once I got myself together I went inside and had dinner. can you say WOW I had a spinach pasta with Italian sausage mushrooms and their famous pink sauce. It was soooooo good! No joke!!! I get up to leave and could barely walk. I make it to the front and the owner was standing there I ask him if he could help me to my car he walks me out and we get out the door he says I can get your car for you. Omg I was in such pain I gave him my keys and he went to my car and pulled it up to me and helped me in my car. Such a nice man and what great service!! You have such a wonderful kitchen, why not highlight it was a sweet, but simple menu. Not a photocopy of an original with handwriting on it... Always a great meal- we have been coming to Quincy for 15 years from St.Louis. Have dined at Tiramisu about a dozen times. There's nothing more mouth-watering than Roberto's home made pasta in any dish you want. The servers really care, and Roberto is always there to say hi and check on you and your meal. The atmosphere is just right, too. This past Saturday we were there with friends we brought from St. Louis and they were blown away by the place. Italian food is like the lottery: everyone can play, but only a few really win at it. Tiramisu is a strong second place finisher. First the good things: this pace hums! I can't recall seeing wait staff move at such speed; one was almost breathless! Portion size is generous to a fault. Oops! the whole rest of my review was eaten by the restaurant Gods! So here's the summation: It's Quincy, and this restaurant is an honest attempt at being good. It's physical plant detracts from your enjoyment, but it's spirit makes up for it.
