Came here on a recommendation from a friend. Not much to look at from the road. I wasn't sure if I needed tires or not (looking to get rid of the car in 6mo or so). I drove up to the shop and spoke with the gentlemen and he was extremely helpful he said to try to ride it out. I had one tire that went flat that morning so I asked them to check it out. Upon taking it off he found that particular tire was scrap so they sold me one used tire buffed my rim balanced and reinstalled. They advised me on every extra charge along the way. I took my vehicle to Tallmadge Tire to have my exhaust manifold leak, and coolant leak repaired. They originally quoted me a lesser price called me back and said it would be more work so would cost more which I understand. 4 days later they call me and say that they cannot repair the vehicle and bill me 500 for labor hours. I cannot come pick up my vehicle and drive it away because it's no longer drivable. I disagree with the entire thought of paying that but we settled on a price and my vehicle was towed to another shop. The mechanic at the other shop looks at the work that was done and tells me they drilled through my cylinder sleeve and I will need an entire new head. There was no damage to the head prior to and there negligence and lack of experience will now cost me thousands of dollars read more

I came to this shop because my usual place could not get me in for 2 weeks. My car was making a strange noise and they said the CV axle needed to be replaced. After the work was done, I came in, gave them $300 and headed home. The car was still making the noise I brought it in with. I called them back within 20 minutes and informed them that they did not fix the problem. We scheduled to have the car brought back in a few days later. Once they did a real diagnostic assessment, which they should have done the first time, they determined that the transmission is bad. They called me to pass this information along and inform me that they do not work on transmissions. I asked if I would be refunded the $300 for the unnecessary work that was done and they said that they would. I picked up my car the next day. A week later, the money was still not refunded to my account. I called them on a Friday regarding my refund and the owner did not have an answer and said he would call me back. He called me the following Monday and said that he won't be refunding my money. He stated that the axle needed replaced in order for them to diagnose the transmission issue. Now, I'm no mechanic, but I know that this is BS. I argued with the owner explaining that his shop did work that was unnecessary to fix the larger issue and he continued to refuse a refund or even admit they were wrong. I even offered to meet in the middle and pay for the new part, but get refunded the labor cost. He again refused. I told him that I feel like he's jerking me around and trying to screw me out of my money. At this point, I believe he was fed up with me because he stated "I don't care about your car anymore". I informed him that this experience will be outlined in a yelp review and ended the call. Bottom line, this guy is a thief. He does unnecessary work to milk as much money out of you as he can. Absolutely refused to give me a tread depth over the phone on a set of used tires. I drove 20 minutes there, and was then handed the tool to measure for myself. 3/32". He was trying to sell me a tire that would be illegal in a month, and already unsafe. Pathetic and inexcusable. read more

Great knowledgeable guys that helped me even though they didnt have my used tire in stock! They advised me of what I had, why I needed to replace each set and how to best go about it, and were very good about what I truly needed at a price I could afford. They placed my tire for free, and really researched what future tires I needed and why. Will be doing business with them again soon! read more

Over a year ago had one of my bearings hubs done on my car. The problem first started when he called to say they couldn't get it off. They worked at it for 4 hours (~$60-80/hr) and still couldn't get it off. So they sent it to a machine shop to get it taken off, that cost $35. So when I got the bill I asked why they didn't just take it to the machine shop after 30 minutes and save me hundreds of dollars? I'm not sure what his response was, but I remember not finding it acceptable and hinted the fact that I would not come back. At the end he offered me $20 out of the register in cash, somehow thinking that would make it ok? At this point I've been going to this shop since my first car, so about 17 years and never had an issue. I've heard his old main mechanic left and the owner hired a couple guys who weren't good mechanics. Two weeks go by and the bearing is making noise again. It was a Timkin bearing (I know because I bought it and brought it to Tallmadge Tire), so it should have not gone bad. At this point, I'm broke from an unexpectedly large bill paid to Tallmadge Tire. Thankfully I had a second vehicle, and eventually when I had enough money I took it to another respected and recommended shop not far away. They told me that it was installed poorly and they even took some things out, a cover of some sort. This leads to a longer story of how I asked for my money to be returned for the labor that I paid TT. Long story short, he refused to pay over the course of two visits. After the first visit he asked me if he could think about it and come back the next day. The second day was a mess of his leaving in the middle of conversation to talk to his friend and insult me. The worst I called him was rude, because that was rude. At the end I told him I'd file to sue, which I never ended up doing and regret. Is there a time frame where I cannot follow up and get a date in court? Long story short: If this shop damages or makes a mistake, they will not pay you back. DO NOT USE Tallmadge Tire & Service Center!!! We had our vehicle towed there to replace a starter that gave out on us. We received a call informing us they replaced the starter but our check engine light was on and asked if it was on before they serviced the vehicle. NO the check engine light was not. We were told they will look into the problem. Several hours later they called back letting us know they fixed the check engine light issue; we can pick up our vehicle. As soon as we picked it up, the check engine light was on AND the temp gauge spiked into the red. Well, they proceeded to tell us this was all do to a faulty temperature sending unit. SO WHY DID YOU TELL US YOU FIXED THE ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE AND WHY DIDN'T YOU MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT THE TEMP GAUGE ON THE PHONE???!!!! All they've done was cleared the code hoping we wouldn't notice. They told us they had nothing to do with it, they were not working anywhere near the location of the temperature sending unit, these things just happen. FALSE!!!! We took it to another shop (Steve's Auto Service in Cuyahoga Falls - highly recommended) they discovered that whoever replaced the starter DID NOT plug the temperature sending unit back in, it was left unplugged causing the check engine light and temp gauge issues. Tallmadge Tire & Service Center SHOULD NOT be trusted they have no idea what they are doing!!! The front desk personnel TIM was full of excuses and blames everything else but the mechanics own incompetence. PLEASE take your vehicles somewhere else and save yourself a boat load of time from these Backyard mechanics. read more

Took a hand-truck (dolly) with two flat tires to Tallmadge Tire & Service the 3rd week in August 2016. Wow!!! What a joke. Never would I take anything to that shop again. One of the tires was just flat and they put air in it. The other tire was flat but the rim on the inside needed cleaned by using a wire wheel to clean off some rust. The younger guy quickly (I mean quickly) wire wheeled the inside of the rim and put some "goop" all over the inside of the rim put tire back on the rim and filled air. By the time I got to my sisters house to help her move in Copley the tire was flat. I brought the tire back the next day and the owner was there. Wow. This guy is unbelievable. He asked me what is wrong with the tire and I explained what they did to the tire to repair it the previous day. He had me go get it out of my truck bed (great service there). I brought it over he basically took the hand-truck and pushed the flat tire to the side and applied more "goop" on inside of the rim and filled with air and said there you go. The next morning I checked to see if it had air it was completely flat. Just had time to go there again August 30, 2016. Owner is there again. I stated that I paid $10 couple weeks ago to have air put in one tire and the other tire rim to be cleaned and pumped with air. I just wanted $5 back because 1 of the tires is fine and the other is still flat. He said we did what we said we would do and I said yes and the tire is still flat. He could not just give me the $5 back instead he installed a tube in the tire and charged me $12 for it. New tire with a rim that size is less than $10 at tractor supply. I just did not want to deal with these people and agreed. Notice the good reviews on this company just say google user and they are from 5 or 6 years ago...interesting!! All the bad reviews have peoples actual names and are more recent. Also they broke the holding washers on both tires and I had to go to a specialty hardware store to get a replacement method of holding the tires on the axle; I had to buy those and install myself. Lot of time and money wasted because of the owner of Tallmadge Tire and Service Center. I will let anyone that will listen know about this business. Word of mouth goes a long way! read more
