I had an issue with my alternator which in turn affected my batttery. While they were working on the alternator, they tested the battery which was bad. I had a replacement warranty from another shop on the battery, but they wouldn't replace the battery without bringing the car in with the old battery. That just would not work in this situation. Trina, at the Sunset store, decided to come with me to the other shop to convince them that the physical swap had to occur to get the car running again. Trina really stepped up and went above and beyond to help me get the new battery. Sonny is a great mechanic over there as well. read more

Tina at the Tire Center in Sunset Hills completely misled me. She said it was buy one, get one free but charged me for two tires and even replaced a good one without asking. After waiting over 3 hours, my tires weren't balanced or aired properly. Terrible service -- I deserve a refund. --Called Customer Service who was no help. They want me to return to the location for a "refund" in hopes that I get my other tire put back on. How do we know it is MY tire?? That nothing will be wrong? If I could give no stars that is what I would do. Scheduled an appointment online at 9:35 a.m. for an oil change and emissions at 3742 South Lindbergh Blvd, Sunset Hills location. Appointment was confirmed at 9:36 a.m. to me and to store0935@monrostores.com. Got to my appointment around 4:45 p.m. Walked in and the guy at the counter goes are you the one here for emissions? I replied yes I am. He stated that he could not do my emissions. I told him that I made this appointment early enough in morning, why was I not contacted to let me know that the services I requested could not be done? He stated that he just got my request right before I walked in or he would have called me to let me know. Never asked me about the oil change that I had scheduled. I told him that I had an oil change scheduled also but I would take my business elsewhere due to the poor customer service and poor business practice of wasting customers time. read more

I went to this location a month or two ago and the front desk attendant was nice that time said I'd be called as soon as mechanic was done plugging my tire. Shouldn't be long at all. My tire was plugged but no one called to let us know. We called and told oh, no one called you? Yes it's done get here by such and such. So same tire hasn't been holding air again; psi very low after filling and refilling with air. I call and make appt over phone with some phone service for 12pm. Be warned this doesn't mean you will be seen. Scared to drive the 5 miles due to tire, I finally arrive and same desk person helps me friendly at first, says he's finishing up job will be done shortly and will look at my tire. Took a call, stepped outside came back in, sat and waited. They were very busy, a number of customers & delivery poeple in and out. Again she says he'll be with you shortly. I heard her say to someone my boss is on my A#$! Suddenly she says I'm sending you to Kirkwood we can't fit you in. I said I don't understand I made an appt? They don't know she said, they don't know I guess referring to the phone service. I said it was everything to make it here I'm scared to drive with this tire that far. It's not FAR! It's just down Geyer to Manchester! Do you want him to fill your tire with air? I hesitate unsure what to do, will the tire make it? Do you want air or NOT?! she demanded. I guess? Pull to Bay 3! The workers at Kirkwood were much nicer about the situation and were able to replace my tire thankfully. They said the plug Sunset Hills put on was leaking air and they can't plug a plug. I'm not sure if he was manager but he said after hearing my being upset over Sunset Hills treatment I always have a home at Kirkwood location to come anytime. The operator who answered the phone was outsourced and did not understand half of what I said. The women who I was transferred to who actually works at the location was rude, curt, and clearly didn't care about my call. The service aside from that might be great, but this isn't a place I'd take my business to. Do better, tire choice. read more

One of the tires on my car was losing air so I called Tire Choice Store #944 on Telegraph Road in Oakville, MO where I had previously purchased tires. It had been about six years since I had purchased these tires and even though there was no record of these tires being purchased at this particular Tire Choice store, manager JR had the tire inspected, found there was a nail in the tire, and kindly repaired the tire free of charge. JusI totally randomly ended up at Tire Choice in Sunset Hills on Lindbergh yesterday evening with a busted spare after the first two places I went to (in Kirkwood) either didn't have the right tires or the staff availability, so I limped in, and this one had me all fixed up before closing for the evening, even ended up a hundred dollars cheaper than the other places would have been tomorrow! They only have 2.5 stars so you know I'm not the only one complaining!! I tried Sunset Hill and I tried Kirkwood! I am done losing money with this corporation. The general manager will not return my calls. My car will not go up the hill without sputtering. I can't accelerate without the engine light popping on and off! sad! I have had a nightmare of a time with two of your Autotire/Tirechoice stores and still don't have a fully working vehicle. I originally brought my vehicle to the Sunset Hills, MO location in mid April this year for brake work because Rick has been great for tires. . I don't have the receipts in front of me, but the general list from the initial visit was that the master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and the pads/shoes needed replaced. I went ahead and paid for that upfront and within a week, that mechanic and manager told me that they also had to change the brake boost and now couldn't get the brake pedal to have any response at all. They offered to have it towed to the Arnold store where they had a more experienced mechanic. Little did I know that this was also when both that mechanic and that manager were leaving to go work somewhere else. The Arnold mechanic looked at everything and gave me a list of things that the first mechanic "screwed up" including clamping the lines, which collapsed them, put the drums on the opposite sides, adjusted the brake boost incorrectly, seized the emergency brake (it definitely was working before all of this started), cracked at least one cylinder screw, and broke another. All in all, nearly every part of my braking system has been replaced except for the front calipers by the end of this. ...this process took 8 weeks of back and forth. Week 5 or 6, during one of my regular calls (since they nearly never called me), they said that it was done and ready to pick up. So we went there, test drove it in the lot, and returned it. The pedal barely had pressure and the car barely slowed to a stop at low speeds. Week 7, they called me to tell me it was done. It felt a little better, but at this point we were going to bring it to another shop to check their work. That became irrelevant less than 2 miles later because a noise started to click, then got louder, then my wife who was following called me because smoke was pouring from my right rear wheel. We quickly got to a safe lot and saw that brake fluid was coming out and burning. If I had driven any further or had blindly trusted them, I would have been without any brakes in short order. I called the manager, Sam, who helped me set up a tow to the nearest GM dealer. Sam did try to make things right-er and authorized the initial repairs, which took less than two days, and now the brakes are strong. I have to give Sam credit for that part. After leaving the GM dealership, I then found that the parking/emergency brake doesn't have much of a grip. I did test it in their lot before leaving, but it was flat. Once I was able to get to a safe slight hill to test it, I put the parking brake on, put it in neutral to simulate that the brake fluid had leaked, and the car started rolling from a dead stop. So, the GM dealer requested to Sam that they need to authorize further costs to fix this issue and magically, he's no longer at that location. I then called Monroe's (owns Autotire/Tirechoice and CarX) customer support number. Your customer support reached out to the district manager only to not ever get back to me. I had to call a week later to find out s/he has said that they're not going to fix the additional issue of the parking break that wasn't obviously wrong until I could drive the vehicle to a slight decline off of the GM dealer's lot. This doesn't even include the fact that I have no real idea if what I initially paid for was even what was needed. That mechanic, according to your own second mechanic, screwed up so much of the braking system that there's no way to know if I overpaid or not. Or was the second one full of it? Twice, I was told that it was safe to drive, and safe to put our 2 year old son in (not that I have), and twice it could have ended disastrously if I hadn't been so cautious and untrusting of your mechanics and managers. Stay away for anything beyond tires. read more

I'm surprised by the negative reviews on here. I've been coming to this shop with both of my vehicles for many years and have always been satisfied. There have been a few instances when I thought that I needed a costly repair, but they suggested a much better and less expensive option. This is the most friendly and honest car repair shop I've ever been to. The waiting area is quite run down and could use some sprucing up, better TV, better coffee, etc, but I usually drop my cars off instead of waiting. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are a bunch of liars and are never willing to help you with anything. They told me I had a warranty on my tires and when they became warped they immediately denied the warranty and told me it was my fault that my tires are that way. The manager there Guy is one of the rudest people I have ever met and he is never willing to help. My family of 5 takes their cars to them and they always lie and try to make up problems with your car to get more money out of you. Will not be coming back here. I had an appointment at 2 to get my oil changed. Got there at 2 said they were running behind which was fine. Sat there and waited 30 minutes after he kept telling me I'd be right up. This all would have been fine but some people actually have things they need to do. They got me in for a next day appointment and finished my car very quickly while I waited. The front desk gentleman and the mechanic were both personable! The waiting room was a little messy - empty cups and water bottles scattered about - but they have a TV and plenty of magazines to help pass the time. Disappointed. Took my car to the Sunset Hills Auto Tire after having poor customer service at the Kirkwood location. I was given a quote to have my brake hoses replaced. The quote I was given stated the hoses would be $80.99 the grand total to do the work was going to be $385 I said that seemed like a very high price. He told me that Mitsibushi parts are hard to get and they use Mistibushi parts from the dealer. While he was helping another customer I called Mitsibushi and was told they had the parts in stock and the cost was $69 dollars per hose. I asked what it would cost for them for replace the hoses. The total for the Mistibushi dealership to do the work was going to be $370. I called autozone to see if they had parts for a 2004 Mitsibushi Outlander. They told me they had them in stock at a cost of $22. per hose. I have spoken with customer service for Auto Tire. She stated that they do have a 30 day price match. So you decided....take your care to a dealership for a cheaper cost or to Auto Tire? Both have the same warranty. Oh! After I stated auto zone had the parts in stock he gave me a new estimate. They could them put Auto Zone parts on. The cost for Auto Zone hoses are $22 Auto Tire was going to charge me $44 per hose. Hope this review is helpful. Buyer beware -Theresa I have already spoken to customer service. As I stated she told me that they have a price match and that I was welcome to bring a comparison match in and they would meet it. I highly recommend Autotire on South Lindbergh near East Watson in Sunset Hills. Their associates are professional, courteous and meet their commitments. And I say this as a customer who had to take my care back to have the tire fixed 10 days after they said they fixed it. I'm a big believer in good recoveries and Autotire made one with me. The gentleman I first spoke to was actually on break, but I only found that out after he helped me, took my keys and guided me to the inside counter. They fixed the tire in less time than it took me to go have lunch. Won't be back. Should be a fraud alert. Always get a second opinion. I took my car in for an oil change and knew that I probably needed brake pads. When I got the call from the manager to approve the work that needed to be done I was told break pads and new rotors. I questioned the rotors since I wasn't hearing any grinding or squealing. Told that they were bad and could not be ground. Total would be $600. I said no to the work other than the oil change. When I picked up my car I was Told that they were mistaken and the rotors could actually be ground and did not need to be replaced so could save me $150. I left and took my car to CarX to have it looked at. They said that I only need break pads and that my rotors were perfectly fine. I had the brakes replaced for $110. Ladies, do not hesitate to say no to work and get another opinion. It's your car and your money. Don't be taken advantage of. This is what women should be marching against ! read more

Used 4 times. Worse every time. 1st time- the only place open & I needed a tire asap - that went OK, but took too long. 2nd time was for a matching tire for that 1st visit. Only 3 weeks later & they could not get the same tire, but it took them 6 hours to finally tell me that - & they gave a list of 10 things they said needed to be done. I use a specific shop for my cars, so I took the list to them & was told that none of it was legitimate & that they were just trying to trick us into spending $. 3rd time was for 4 tires. I had a coupon & it's 2 blocks from my house. The tires were fine. They talked me into an alignment & that seemed pretty good. Don told me the alignment had a 1yr. warrantee. The alignment strayed off to the left over the course of the next 2 weeks &, when I took it back, they bluntly told me, "We don't guarantee alignments. We'll need to find out what's wrong with your car & fix that and then charge for another alignment." Took it across the street, they found a loose nut. 4th time for an inspection (all other shops were booked). Was told it would take 30 minutes. 2hrs later, was told needed muffler & that it would take 1hr. 2 hrs later... they had the wrong muffler. 2 hrs later, muffler is missing a piece. 2hrs later, still not done, "It'll be about an hr." 2hours later, we can't give you an inspection certificate because the state closes the system at 6pm. You'll have to come back tomorrow. Took 30 min the next morning to get my certificate. "Sorry" doesn't even come close. read more
