I spoke with a TireRack employee regarding the size of the rims I needed for my truck. After giving the employee the information he needed about my truck (which I told the employee that i did NOT want the wheels to stick out beyond the fenders), he gave me his answers, and I said thank you. So, I decided to purchase the rims. When the rims were delivered, I kept them in their shipping boxes and never opened them so they wouldn't get damaged. I set up an appointment with my auto maintenance person and had the rims installed. However, the rims that were delivered to me and installed on my truck weren't the correct sizes. So I reached out to Tire Rack, and they said I made the mistake of purchasing the incorrect rims, which was NOT true. When I spoke with a Tire Rack employee, he sent me a copy of the conversation. However, not all of the conversations were in the copy he sent me. (It's amazing how much you can do with technology to lie about something. IMO, they erased part of the conversation so they wouldn't be responsible for their mistake.)Also, I told the employee that I was ordering the rims at the minute we finished our conversation and you would think that he would make sure I would order the correct rims). And so, because the rims were installed, I couldn't have the rims returned. So I just wasted over $1000. I would never purchase anything from Tire Rack again!!! read more

You should NEVER buy insurance from them. I purchased insurance for my tires from them. On their website, It said the tires have 80000 miles warranty, however, I drove them for 50000 miles and the tires worn out. I contacted their customer service, and got replied: The following conditions must be met to qualify for the manufacturer's tread life warranty: *       Tires have to be evenly worn across the face of the tread *       No bead damage from mounting or dismounting *       No impact damage (cut, bulge or bubble in the sidewall or inner liner) *       Tires must be worn down to at least 2/32" of tread depth *       Properly repaired tires must be patched and plugged. *       Tires are adjustable in quantities of 2 or 4 *       Proof of mileage showing when the tires were installed and removed from service *       Depending on the original purchase date, rear tires that are a different size than the front may only be eligible for half mileage.  Please consult the manufacturer's warranty or Tire Rack for complete details. I recommend them if you want to confound yourself with the poorest customer service that will execute shipment exactly contrary to your instructions and that will refuse to participate in a meaningful and expeditious resolution to the problem they create with your order. Tina at TireRack tells me Tuesday they are reshipping and will be here probably not Wednesday but on Thursday. Friday they had not shipped and Katherine said they would ship immediately. They didn't ship. Friday afternoon they tell me they will ship. Monday they ship via the carrier that lost the tires after I told them on Tuesday not to use that carrier. Tire Rack can work for you if you have tire changing and balancing equipment. If you have to pay an installer, you just don't save much. But, if you have a problem with the tires, expect three months of frustration with customer service. You will soon see why the few bucks you saved buying the tires from Tire Rack instead of a local tire store just isn't worth it. I had bought tires from Tire Rack for more than a decade. I had one regular rep that I dealt with. We were on a first name basis. I trusted his opinion when choosing tires. I received notice from Tire Rack that my tires were delivered to Firestone and I brought my car in at the appointment time the next day. The day of installation they called at the end of the day stating that only 2 tires were shipped by Tire Rack not the set. Do yourself a favor and buy local - this company doesn't take ownership when problems happen. Called them up numerous times, typical BS put on hold for 20 minutes then hung up on, Call back hung up on again. Call back again and told by that persson to hang on while she checked only to hold for 15 more minutes then another person picks up like you just called for the first time. No problem I just called Capital One and disputed the charge so that you get the charge back. Awful that it has come to that but that's how it works with lousy companies like Tire Scam. Do not shop at/with Tire Rack. Their prices are indeed good however, if you have a problem with your tires watch out! Here is my experience: I ordered a set of tires (70,000 Mile Tires) in October 2020. Had them installed locally as you do when they are shipped to you. In December i had an accident in my car. No impact was done to the tires. ( a piece of steel came off the road and smashed out one of my windows and messed up some of my paint) My car sat in the shop for a month. While in the shop the dealer noticed the front two tire's belts were broken and couldn't balance my tires. I let tire rack know that these tires were just purchased and deemed defective by the local dealer. Tire Rack then told me they can sent the tires back but needed tests done to the tires for tread depth and impact. I asked the dealer to perform the test and the dealer said the tires were too damaged for the test. I then Got the tread life from and had to send in 4 pictures of the tire to Tire Rack then.....Tire Rack told me i had to purchase 2 more tires from them (to replace the bad tires) out of my pocket then wait 30days while the manufacture inspects the "bad tires" This is a horrible process.....If i purchased the tires locally the local shop would have just swapped the tires out no charge to me but it get's worse Tire Rack will give you upto $25 for the install back (yes you have to front the cost) then if the tire installation requires another alignment (as they always do when installing tires) Tire Rack will NOT reimburse you for the alignment. To top off my experience the customer service agents have an attitude on the phone with you the entire time and never follow up via email. I had my tires installed and replied back to them email asking how to set up shipping the bad tires back. I waited 8 days then called got another agent who could care less to be at their job and then told me he just messaged the agent who never emailed me back and got an answer right away. During this process i have requested a call back from a manager to discuss my problems with twice. I have yet to receive a call and i am sure i never will. Like many other reviewers here, I had problems with the Tire Rack warranty process. I was unable to get a refund for a a tire I purchased that ended up with unrepairable pothole damage. I have gotten a refund from them in the past by filing a claim over the phone. But they encourage you to use their website and so this time I tried it. Big mistake. Huge mistake. DO NOT USE THE WEBSITE TO FILE A CLAIM. They say I did not do it correctly. I found the website to be very buggy but at one point it did say that I was preapproved. Then they denied the claim. I contacted the 3rd party claims processor they use but got nowhere with them - was told "preapproved does mean approved". ??? So I contacted Tire Rack directly and provided them with receipts for the replacement, photos of the damage, documentation from the dealership about the damage, and I still have the damaged tire which could be examined if desired. They said they would look into it but after emailing back and forth for a few months, eventually just stopped responding. I purchased a replacement tire from the dealership. In contrast to Tire Rack, they have been very easy to deal with. If there is a problem, they replace the tire and they do not charge me anything to install the new one. With Tire Rack, you always have to pay for the installation. Buying locally may end up being cheaper in the end. read more

I have always received accurate e-mails confirming shipping. Shipping was always on time and accurate. Over the years they improved their shipping and packaging. Everything is precisely marked for the directional tires. Most tires come with road assistance warranty which I had to use only one time without any issues. In the course of asking the amount of the discount (providing him a desired set of rims), I also reiterated my position that Tire Rack should cover the damages I incurred at the installer. I want to post his response: The matter of Tire Rack covering this is over, you've had enough discussions with people on this end and nothing with change changed. I do apologize you feel differently, but no reason for me to talk about it when nothing has changed in that aspect.  We have 3 of the wheels in stock (that you selected). To some degree I appreciate the discount offer on the rims, but after thinking about it, believe I am just digging myself deeper into future problems with Tire Rack. SCAM! Got my tires, all is good there but.. they charged me twice for some reason and are holding on to the second charge in "pending" so my bank can't dispute it. Rather than noting my customer history and trusting their own past experience with shipment to my house of 33 years, they have rearranged my address in their database every chance they had, then questioned their own rearrangement delaying shipment of my orders the past 6 times. When I complained, they've tried to palm blame off on UPS and expressed annoyance that my address (I live in a planned and gated community) isn't conventional - as if the address were both wrong and my fault. This company will only be happy to assist you up to the point where your payment clears. I ordered a $1,650 wheel/tire package for my 2013 Tacoma and had it sent to a Tire Rack recommended service shop for installation. The shop struggled for hours to get the pre-installed sensors to register and after two visits have ultimately been unsuccessful. After multiple calls to Tire Rack's customer support, it seems clear I have to go to a Toyota dealer and have them disassemble the tires and reattempt to register the sensors. However, it isn't even clear the sensors are good to start with and I will have to pay twice out of pocket to have the same task completed with no guarantee of success. Tire Rack was completely unsympathetic and showed no interest at all in reimbursing at least one of my installation fees and implied I should somehow have known to ignore their recommended service locations and go directly to a dealer. When I suggested this information would be vital for future customers to know, the customer support representative said she'd make a note of it on my order. On 7/22 ordered a $2800 tire and wheel package from Tire Rack via PayPal. This package included 4 new wheels, tires, TPMS sensors, mounted and balanced. Tire Rack was not the cheapest that I found on the wheels or tires, but I thought the convenience of receiving the packaged mounted and balanced to my front door was worth the extra cost so I ordered. I received an email Monday 7/23 from Jim Holloman indicating the wheels I chose were on back order and he offered to substitute other wheels that maybe in stock. We exchanged a few emails back and forth on different wheel options with his last email to me stating "I can get those on the way to you on Tuesday mounted and balanced. Just let me know and I will get them on the way." I never replied. Early this morning (Tuesday 7/24) I called Jim at the number listed in his email and left a message with my name and phone number and referred to the emails we had sent back and forth in order to discuss further. I never got a return call. Much to my surprise however, I get an automated email this afternoon from Tire Rack that wheels I did not approve were ordered for me and shipped with my tires mounted and balanced! But it gets even worse; when reviewing the details I noticed the TPMS sensors my vehicle requires were not installed like I originally ordered. I immediately called Tire Rack's customer support. I'm a rational person, businesses run by humans are going to make mistakes. How they react to fix the error is where the rubber meets the road and the where the good companies shine. To say Tire Rack was ambivalent to my situation is beyond an understatement. It was completely my problem that I was receiving wheels I did not order or authorize as a substitute to my original order. Their first solution was for me to refuse the order and pay the $700 to have them return shipped to Tire Rack! I explained that even if I could live with the wheels they sent me, they did not have the TPMS sensors installed that I ordered and required. Their solution was to offer me a discount on the TPMS sensors and I get to take a day off to have the new tires and wheels dismounted so they can be installed and remounted and balanced. So much for the convenience of a complete hassle free package to my door. Paid more that I needed to for terrible service. Tamara, the supervisor I spoke to, showed absolutely no regard for my plight. They took my PayPal authorization and ordered what they wanted and left out what they wanted with no regard to my intentions. I have never had to leave a negative review on a business before but I have never been this disgusted with a purchase experience. They truly do not care about their customer and will do whatever they want once they have your purchase authorization to include sending you items you did not order and leave out items you did. I will never use or recommend Tire Rack again. Buyer beware! Update: Since I've starting posting this Tire Rack has been responding to the various sites indicating I did in fact order the alternative wheels. Complete lie! I have saved all of emails and phone calls to verify my story. This is a great place to buy tires and rims. They offer you free snacks and coffee while you wait. The people here are really friendly. They helped me pick the tires I need for my vehicle. Installation was 15.00 per tire. The tire warranty is free for two years and if you order on line and tell them you will pickup tires they will give you 40.00 off the total price, but you have to order the tires on line for pickup. I like Tire Rack the free shipping I was offered and had plenty of independent installers. I like the different variety of items they offer other than just tires. They carry pretty much every brand of tires and good quality parts manufacturers. Their prices are compatible with other tire stores generally. However, I have to give them a 2-star review because they do not match competitors prices like almost every other tire dealer will. Was told the reason they don't price match it's because their price is already at it's best possible price. For the Goodyear Tire for my Jeep size 295/70/R17 Wrangler Duratrac they want $289.99 per tire where my local Belle Tire which I have triple checked with quoted me $230 per tire. Discount Tire, Goodyear and my local Jeep dealership all quoted me a lower price than Tire Rack. I bought my tires 3/9/2020 mileage was 30476 and on 12/4/2020 mileage was 54689 and the service center told me I need to start looking for new tires. The new tires only have 23943 miles of a 60000 mile warranty. I provided all service records from the date of install until the date I am being told to replace them. Their response" If these are showing signs of uneven wear there is an underlying issue that is causing this. If a tire is rolling straight as intended with the correct inflation pressures there is nothing that would create the uneven wear. Only when there is a misalignment issue, worn suspension components or improper inflation pressure will you see uneven wear. Uneven wear is not warrantable with the tire manufacturers as this is not related to a defect in the tire, rather it is due to the conditions in which the tires are used and subjected to. I do apologize for this (name) What we can do is offer you 15% off on a set of tires. I have noted your account of this discount." So unacceptable. The installation process is efficient, with text messages to let you know where you are in line and when your car is ready, and the waiting room is tidy and comfortable, with snacks, coffee, wi-fi, and restrooms. Staff is always on the look out for safety issues and hazards, even beyond my original reason for coming in, but they have never tried to sell me something I don't need. Beware conducting business with Tirerack.com. I've ordered tires for our cars from this venue for the past 3-4 years. In the past, service was friendly, fast, and reliable. This is not the case today. On 12-07-2021 I contacted an agent named Bruno and he helped me select tires for our car. He was helpful in this regard. However, and after I was constantly lied to from their shipper, OnTrac, about delivery dates, i.e., 12-09, then 12-10, and now 12-13, i called to complain and he claimed his system indicated 2-day shipping, which was a lie on his behalf given the recipient of my tires, Firestone in Scottsdale, AZ indicated that their shipments from Tire Rack always arrived later than advertised. To aggravate matters, agents at OnTrac admitted their shipments were not timely and claimed they were a discount shipper and you get what you pay for. So we have two entities, Tire Rack and OnTrac that choose to lie and in the case of OnTrac, publish false delivery information on their website. Avoid both of these businesses. I purchased some very nice Koni shocks from Tirerack. Com. One of them had a leak on the top adjuster knob. It is very obvious that there is fluid leaking out of the top as there are bubbles of hydraulic fluid all over that are an obvious sign of trouble. I have been doing the back and forth with 3 different customer service agents now for over an week. I sent pictures a few days ago to the first person and then was asked by a different agent to send more so I did that day before yesterday. When I called today I was told that those photos were never got sent to the returns agent who reviews returns. They have a serious communication gap as the first agent never got back to me at all. The second wasn't much better. They are VERY SLOW to respond to inquiries. I now remembered that I had a problem with them before. I would rather pay shipping and sales tax and a higher price then to have to deal with this again. I still have my defective shock and i still am in limbo as of what to do 8days later. I was excited to find that they had a large selection of tires available within my size and weight index. I was having a hard time deciding between Tire Rack and my usual go-to, Discount Tire, and then I saw that Road Hazard Protection was automatically included on most of Tire Rack's tires. That is what really sold me, it would be an extra $100 or so expense with Discount Tire. I bought a set of 4 Sumitomo Encounter AT tires that had a 30-day trial period. I got them installed at the RAM dealership for an additional $89, an amount I didn't really calculate into the cost of the tire. I took them on one trip and found that I lost almost 5 mpg with the AllTerrain tire, which was beyond what I think is reasonable, so I sent them back. I ordered a set of the Sumitomo Encounter HT, hoping the MPG loss would be less. Switching these tires out cost me another $89, but I was expecting a full refund since that's what Tire Rack had said I should expect. They call me up and say that the tires were damaged and I would only be refunded for 2 of the 4 tires. Were they really damaged? They were brand new tires with no issues. They refused to do anything except send to the manufacturer for further inspection, which would take 8 weeks. I still haven't heard anything, over 2 months later. I'm on a road trip on the new Sumitomo Encounter HT tires and within 1500 miles I have a blowout on the inner wall of my front right tire. There was no impact, no abuse of the tire, nothing that would cause this except for a tire defect. At first, I'm confident the company will cover it under their Road Hazard protection. I call to try and get this taken care of and they tell me the tire doesn't have Road Hazard protection. Only some of their tires have RH. This particular category isn't covered. Wouldn't that be nice to know before you're purchasing the tire? If you click on the Road Hazard page of their website it ways the Light Truck tires are not covered. I didn't know the tires I was buying were considered light truck tires. I would expect when they say "Most of our tires are covered with Road Hazard Protection" that the tires that are not covered would explicitly tell you when you're purchasing "This tire is NOT covered by Road Hazard Protection." It's incredibly dishonest to make a blanket claim and then not tell the customer when that claim is not true. Their statement that "MOST of our tires are covered under Road Hazard Protection" is the only reason that I went ahead and purchased through Tire Rack and not a local vendor. After getting a replacement tire installed, the installer said that the blowout looked like a tire defect and I should try to get the manufacturer's warranty instead of the Road Hazard. I went through the process to get the tire returned to Tire Rack, and they came back with the message, "We have confirmed that the damaged was confirmed a road hazard," and they are not going to warranty it. How exactly have you confirmed this? How exactly does an impact happen on the middle of inner wall of a tire with no damage anywhere else on the tire? That seems impossible to me. That seems like you are trying to get out of honoring the manufacturer's warranty. That seems like Tire Rack is committed to having terrible customer service that pails in comparison to any other tire company I've dealt with, or any other company I've dealt with in recent years. If Tire Rack is going to operate as an online-only company, dealing through other installers, they should at least match the level of customer service of other tire companies, like Discount Tire. Discount Tire goes above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy with their service because they know that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. I will never again use their services and I would be loud in telling others, especially in the Van Living community, to never use Tire Rack. read more

Well I finally got around to pulling the trigger with Tire Rack and although I went with the original build spec Michelins instead of their suggestion, the whole transaction went exceedingly well. Made it to my shop here in three days for FREE and the mounting, balance and alignment at Summit Automotive here in Naples was flawless. update, after opening a ticket with a manager, they were able to finally get my tire replaced. It was a frustrating process but worked out well in the end. Tire Rack still has the best selection and knowledgebase but man, Sonsio is frustrating to say the least. read more
