Had boat winterized fall of 2023 at Mike's Mast Road Auto. Spring of 2024 discovered the carb…read moreneedle was stuck. Brough boat back to to Mike's Mast Road Auto to have carbs rebuilt. Engine has 180 hours and was free spinning with no issues (Several witnesses can confirm). Parts ordered by mechanic. Kept getting excuses like, supplier sent wrong part, supplier only sent one rebuild kit instead of two, supplier refused to overnight parts (even though they sent out incorrect parts), supplier takes 10 days to ship, supplier had to back order and carb linkage was lost. Boat sat on mechanics lot for 6 months beginning of June to Mid November. August mechanic informs me engine is locked up. Boat then sits on lot in the condition as seen in photos from mid August to Mid November, nothing being done to it. Somehow a winterized boat that had a free spinning engine just happens to lock up in the summer months on his lot. Asked several boat mechanics if they ever heard of this happening and none ever did. Boat was returned in non-operational condition. Icing on the cake is when mechanic told me it was my fault for having an older model boat and charged me $350. Something happened under his care while he had possession of my property. Never made good, never attempted to fix problem that happened under his care. I can not recommend Mike's Mast Road Auto.

We have been with him a long time now. You might think we were personal friends...we aren't, but he always makes us feel that way. He always finding the problem and offers options how to save on repairs. And, he always solves the problem. Most recently we had a problem with our Kia Sportage turbo. Because it seemed like it would be a real technical specialty, we took it to the Kia dealer. Foolish us! Spent about $700 to fix it and had to bring it back immediately for the same thing, Then they said I needed something totally different on the turbo (yeah right)...to the tune of $2500!!!! We took it to Eric and for less than the original $700 repair bill, it now works (about 1K miles so far...no issues), and NO $2500 ripoff! Frankly, the dealer should be reported. So, we highly recommend Eric, our go-to mechanic!

I went to them a few years ago after getting cleaned out by another mechanic two years in a row. The second time, it was obvious fraud (complete failure to address the problem coupled with replacing a part that was good). Am I glad I switched! They do look at things carefully and give accurate assessments of both current and impending problems (like tire wear, for instance, AHEAD of when they need to be replaced). There is absolutely no pressure to buy parts or services from them, based on what they report. From what I've seen and other people tell me, the Darlings try to keep repairs as reasonably affordable as they can. They are more than willing to prioritize what needs to be done, so it can be spread out. Their hourly labor rate is competitive with similar businesses, but since they are competent, it's kind of a bargain. The only drawback is that A LOT of people recommend Phil and Son's. That's bad because it means that there's a wait when I want to get MY car in. In spite of that, I've directed my best friends there because what nicer thing can you do for your friends than to find a very good and ethical mechanic? If they could just book their cars in AFTER mine....

Not only was the whole experience fast as hell, but they even give all your fluids and tire pressure the once around. Granted, my TPM went off immediately afterwards for some unknown reason. But it turned out to be a glitch and was relatively easy to reset. What was especially impressive was that these guys were able to figure out how to reset the oil change notification via Google search, if you can believe that. For those of you unfamiliar with BMW, it's...a bit of a process to do. It kinda feels like entering a cheat code just to get the thing to go away. So, if you're a fellow Bimmer driver (like me), I'm here to tell you your car is in safe hands and these guys know what they're doing. I'm giving Valvoline in Manchester 4 very relieved Bimmers running new oil out of 5.
