I recently took a 2003 GMC Savana AWD passenger van from a local Candia used car dealership to Bob's and Sons for a pre-purchase inspection. The inspection report was very thorough and detailed. The van would have been an unseen money pit if I had purchased it. They took me under the van and pointed out all the defects. Now this was a van that drove great and handled nicely. It had 4 brand new tires. Prior to the inspection, the only obvious defect was the A/C not working, dirty engine oil and heavy rust and scale on the transmission dipstick. They found that both side rear bolts were broken on the exhaust manifold, Transmission pan gasket leaking, transmission fluid dirty, transmission lines rotten. The power steering rack is leaking, coolant leaking into suspension area, parking brake cable rotten, drivers front axle seal leaking, passenger side front axle boot is split. The serpentine belt is heavily cracked.the rear rotors are rotten, brake pads grooved at 7/32. Dirty air filter, dirty/green brake fluid. All this was found on a vehicle that was was advertised as "Literally needs nothing but a new owner" Now, I see that the same ad on craigslist is still offering this vehicle for sale but the ad wording has been changed. Moral of this review is that Bob's and Sons saved me from making a really bad purchase. I would highly recommend letting them to do a pre-purchase inspection on any used car. read more

I gave them another try after a disaster of a visit a year ago. My mistake. They sent me two $25.00 gift cards after my terrible experience last year. For this visit all I needed was an inspection for my truck. The posted price for an inspection is $40.00 in their window, yet I was charged $50.00 because I had an F150 truck. This was not disclosed before the inspection of course. I was only allowed to use one of the $25.00 gift cards, and was charged a $8.88 disposal fee. When I asked about it, they said it was a fee the state charged and they divided it up among their clients and everyone pays a flat disposal fee. I had nothing to disposed of. So for a $40.00 inspection, I paid $31.50 with a $25.00 gift card. They just try to squeeze every dime they can out of you. I plan to contact the state inspection department to check out their flat fees and difference in posted inspection vs. what I was charged has any validity. I feel like I was scammed. When I talked to other mechanics at other garages in the area over the weekend, no one had ever heard of either the disposal fee for an inspection or difference in price for a truck. read more

I called Bob and Sons for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. I bought a 2008 Forester at a local dealer "as is", and I wanted to make sure there were no major issues. I also wanted to verify that the head gaskets had been changed as stated by the seller. Bob and Sons were complete professionals. They fit in the inspection the same day I called despite their busy schedule, and they performed an amazingly thorough examination - checking out the alternator, brake and fuel lines, AC, suspension, frame, engine.. everything you could possibly think of. Then they emailed me a complete report with pictures documenting every problem area found (such as leaking front struts.) All in all everything checked out alright for me and Bob et al. verified the head gaskets had indeed been replaced so I bought the car. I love my car and nothing beats the peace of mind of knowing that it's mechanically sound. I highly recommend Bob for your inspection and repair needs. read more

I recently moved to the Manchester area and was looking for a reputable shop to fix my 2005 Subaru Forrester. I had been informed by another dealer that the head gasket would need replacing (among other things) and was looking at over $2,500 to fix. Having a college budget and already wary about getting potentially taken advantage of because I'm a girl, I decided to look on Yelp with my dad. Bob and Sons Automotive was professional with me from Day 1. Not only did they make sure that my car passed inspection, but they gave me a daily update on my service (complete with pictures). They also kept my dad (who is more of the car expert) in the loop as well. All in all, the service I got cost about half of what the local dealer was going to charge me. These guys have always done right by us. They are very friendly and efficient. They also offer an awesome rewards program that allows you to build up for points for coupons. The coupons are automatically sent to you when you've saved up enoug points, which are also tracked automatically. Besides the program, they give great advice about what needs to be now and in the future for our vehicles. read more

As an older single woman- I always feel mechanics / garages take advantage but did not find that so with Bob and Sons They are very considerate- take pictures of the problem- give options and charge accordingly. Overall I think they are at the upper end of price point but being able to trust their work is worth the difference. read more
