I have used Tires Plus for years in both Clearwater and Largo. I mistakenly sent my son to the closest location near him. Unfortunately, the staff wete anything but accommodating and helpful. They urged him to complete over $4,000 of work on a vehicle that wasn't worth $1,000 kbb. We decided to junk it and the staff couldn't even be bothered with pulling the car out of the bay. I asked them 3 different times while I sat for over 3 hours waiting on the tow truck to remove the vehicle. They never lifted a finger for assistance and had the tow truck driver move it when he arrived. I have always recommended the Clearwater and Largo locations to others. I hope that this location does not ruin the reputation of the entire franchise. Thumbs down for historical St. Pete location. read more

The classic mechanic shop trying to pull a fast one by not providing a price from the jump, and then charging $150 to run a coding app on their phone without providing any logical solution or quote for any repair. Scammers and liars. Told me I "wasn't listening" when they provided a price, yet there was no documentation of me signing anything, so that would be quite illegal! Bought tires online, had them delivered to tires plus and they mounted them for me saving me money. They also brakes during an oil change and let me know that my brakes were getting low and with soon need to be replaced. I already knew this, but they didn't try to scare me with "you. Steve and Amber saved me. My truck overheated on I275. I had tow truck bring to Tires plus. They knew I was from out of town and went out of there way to help me and get the belt (that is is why it overheated) replaced and get me on my way. The mechanic was great- didn't get his name. Don't waste your time with the online appointment scheduling! I made an appointment online at 8:00 am on a Monday to have my tires balanced at 3 pm that same day. When I arrived at the store for my service I was advised that they could not take me until Thursday or Friday, which was 3 days later. The condescending clerk told me that they book up days in advance and can't do same day appointments. No apology offered, no ownership taken to resolve the problem. I checked their website again and they show availability for appointments all day Tuesday and Wednesday, so I don't know why they would offer times they cannot confirm. Either fix your appointment calendar or take it off your website. read more

Charged $45 to patch a tire and didnt do it correctly. Was flat the next time I drove the car... go somewhere else in st Pete for tires

Was in need of a flat tire repair and this place was recommended to be by a neighbor. Made an appointment online after hours and the appointment was confirmed the next morning, albeit for the incorrect time. I proceeded to call and spoke with Dave who advised me that they couldn't take me at the requested appointment time but that since I had the spare tire on the car, that I could just come in and drop off the tire and they would get it done before Noon that day. Went in to bring the tire and unfortunately the tire was not repairable. It was ridden flat for about 2 miles and it ultimately cause damage to the tire. $300 and a few hours later, I was driving away with a new tire on a car with only 2,400 miles. Granted, I could've denied the work order and probably gone somewhere else and gotten the tire repaired for a lot less and who knows how long it would've lasted. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Ted and Dave are great people that obviously take pride in the level of customer service that they offer. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

It's a comfortable place to get your car serviced. Easy to make appointment. Had oil change and tires checked and rotated, other fluids topped off. Waited in the clean and comfortable waiting area - whole thing took about an hour. Staff was polite, business-like, efficient but not really personable. Three words: talk to Tom. I'm a younger woman, relatively uninformed about cars and having to get my car serviced is ALWAYS extremely stressful because I've been screwed or almost screwed SO many times that I have very little to no trust for these kinds of places. But on a Sunday afternoon, I got a flat tire and another tire bubbling. I called a ton of places, until Tom picked up the phone and told me very honestly "I can get it done for (x) price today, but if you can wait until tomorrow, it will be (1/2x) price." He was communicative, funny, honest, personable, and just a damn good dude. Absolutely a breath of fresh air for girls like me who are, honestly, easy to take advantage of in this field. 1 week later, I experienced severe shaking at high speeds and ended up having to get the remaining 2 tires replaced. Same deal, same time frame. I was double checking the air pressure, I was taking my car to 90mph just to test it out, everything was perfect. Tom, if you're reading this, you're a fantastic guy and you can better your ass that I'm not taking my car anywhere else or to anyone else except you from now on. Thanks!!! read more

Went in for an alignment on my 2013 Tacoma 4WD. After 20,000 miles on new All Terrain KO2 tires, I have two ruined front tires. Apparently Tire Plus set the camber to factory specs without accounting for the 2" (stage 1) lift. If you have a lifted vehicle, find a specialty suspension shop, don't trust these guys. read more

I took 2 20 inch wheels and tires up to them to be mounted and balanced because my uncle's garage can't do larger than 18 inch. I bought the tires from another vendor online because I had to match the two that were already on my Mazda CX5. But, even though I didn't buy them there they should still treat a customer good to get word of mouth advertising out there, especially since my uncle's garage sends cars to tire specialists if his shop can't mount and balance them. Well, long story short, the two wheel that they balanced were done very poorly. My steering wheel shakes at 60 mph, and pretty badly too. Now I have to go to another shop and have them done all over again. I do a lot of highway driving and my 2017 42k mile vehicle now rides like a 20 year old junker with front end problems. And all it would have taken is for them to take 5 minutes longer and balanced them properly. It's not even difficult to do. I balance 18 inch and under wheels at my uncle's garage all the time. So I'm thinking they were just pissed that I didn't buy them there so they did a half a$$ rush job. Another problem was that I was trying to get them mounted on the Mazda by the end of the day, and the Tires Plus place waited until 10 minutes before closing to mount and balance them (it's a 15 minute job!) They took that long, even though I dropped them off as soon as they opened at 9am. Now I'll be taking my Mazda to Wheel Paradise on 5th Ave N and 34th street, because when I originally had the 4 wheels and tires installed, as well as when I had my previous vehicle done by them, both times the balance was perfect. In the CX5 I drove from Tampa to Dallas and back at speeds ranging from 60-85 and zero shake from the steering wheel, same goes for my previous CX3 which also had 20's installed and purchased from Wheel Paradise. read more

This company is so unbelievably dishonest its really sad. I brought my car in here for an alignment and an oil change. When I came to pick up my car its unlocked in the parking lot and there is a huge hole in the column cover right next the the key ring my ignition is so loose its about to fall out I can barely start my car. They told me they didn't know why it happened and to make a claim with their corporate office for vehicle damage. The corporate office sent out an inspector who said all the damage was caused by them adjusting the steering wheel and its not there fault. Now because I wanted an alignment and got thousands in damage to my car. Now I have to take this scammers to court to get my car returned to the condition it was in before tires plus got ahold of it. This company is worse than incompetent there just regular cheaters and liars. They'll damage your car then tell you there not responsible. And the worst part about it is they use a third party company to come up with a ridiculous excuse to get out of paying you. If your going to lie to my face have enough backbone to do it yourself. read more

I came in to get a tire changed cause I had got a flat while driving and it was a little expensive so I asked to borrow a wrench to put my spare on til I got paid to afford the tire the man in charge "Andrew" refused to let me use a wrench claiming it was a "liability" only to find out from one of the workers he was upset I wasn't buying anything that day and told none of the workers to help me out so I I had no choice but to pay for an overpriced tire and wait an hour, luckily one of the workers was nice enough to put my donut on for me so I could get home. I made an appointment online after doing a lot of research on which set of tires that I wanted. Just a few minutes after making the online appointment someone from the shop called. I believe the gist of his phone call was to confirm the tire type that I wanted installed. Before I could get to my notes he was asking me questions about my current tires and scoffing at me when I didn't know the answer. You've not lived until you've been silently belittled by a stranger, over the phone. Instead of searching through my notes. I explained that he was making me uncomfortable with his condescending tone and that I would rather purchase my new tires at another company. Lesson of this story: Have a PhD in tires before talking to these people or they'll attempt to make you feel like a moron. Or do what I did and shop someplace else. read more

My van was misfiring, I took it in at 11 am Monday morning. I was told there were 3-4 cars ahead of me so about 4 hour wait. 7 hours later at 6pm I called to see what was happening, I was told by the guy at the desk "someone is about to look at it" and he hung up on me. So this morning, almost 24 hours later I called and wad told you have 3-4 cars ahead of you. I took it to another place. I had a flat tire and my air conditioner was blowing hot air I received a new tire wi th a small charge since the discount due to time and usage And my aire conditioniong was made to work with the advice that if it stopped to came back it might be a leak As always the repair was quickly done (pleasantly, quickly for a pleasing amount of money) so I could get to my evening meeting on time. On our recent trip from Stuart FL our RV lost air pressure on the rear inside tire. By chance we were a few miles away from Tires Plus. Since it was a Sunday at noon, we called to see if they could help. Though they were obviously busy, they fit us in. Our RV had secondary market tire and metric wheels, which created a major issue around finding a solution. Vincent and his crew at Tire Plus did all they could for us, including letting us keep the van overnight while they searched for a solution, and always with a smile! read more

GO ELSEWHERE!!! I walked into tires plus diagnosis in hand, done for free at AutoZone and then confirmed at an actual mechanic. The mechanic who diagnosed my car was swamped an would not immediately be able to get the work done. Vince at tires plus went into a whole spiel about how they won't guarantee work unless they use their "$100,000 in-house diagnostic equipment." I just got a call, not only is the issue what I told him, the quote is $50 dollars MORE than Walker Ford--the bloody dealership!! $789+ for a diagnosis I did not need and a new fuel pump. Do not place your vehicle in the care of these people. I'm out $114 for absolutely nothing. I can't even actually explain how a $99 diagnostic fee ends up as 114 and change, but they clearly added money to plug in the OBD II tester? GO ELSEWHERE!!! read more

We schedule an appointment to have our vehicle worked on, we brought it in and dropped it off. Seven hours later we had to call them and found that nothing had been done to it. It was then that they told us the car had been on the lift for three hours and there was a list of issues with the car. They said it was more than what we had scheduled work to be done. I asked why I hadn't been called in regards to these issues over the last seven hours and their reply was that it was crazy today. The manager said he would be in until 6:30 that night, I told him I was on my way. Why is the inefficient management my problem? If they schedule appointments to be sure they have staff and bays available, why is this my problem? It's basic communication and management. We went to pick up the car and the service manager said "I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but if you hire a carpenter to do some work, you trust their professional opinion." If you have to start a statement with "I don't mean to sound disrespectful,"-DO NOT SAY IT. I am amazed at the lack of communication, the disrespectful customer service and the inability to manage a business. read more

Be prepared to wait and wait and wait and wait some more. I can never get quickly in and out of this place. After being turned away by a 2 hour wait on Friday for a standard oil change, they suggested I make an appointment. So I did for 10:00am the following Tuesday morning and have been waiting for over an hour. Why did I even make an appointment? After mentioning my frustrations they quickly jumped into action. My husband has had tire work done at this location and was pleased with the service. However, every time I have tried to have something done I seem to spend a big part of my day here. Everyone at the shop is super nice and accommodating, which is what keeps me coming back. It's rare to find a place that doesn't pressure you for unnecessary repairs, but I dread the wait. read more

Friendly service and that's how they get you. I use to go to the tires plus on Tyrone Boulevard next by the mall but I stopped going to that one because I paid about $800 for everything they recommended that my car needed at the time using up my last to make sure my car was intact and ready for the road. However my car ended up shutting down on me while I was on I-4 four days later. Guess what.... a simple tune up was the problem. Recently I figured out my car need a diagnostic test so I decided to go to tires plus on 9th street the one that I'm doing this review for and the serviceman was very friendly also seemed very knowledgeable about cars. Red flag 1 the diagnostic test was $100 just to hook a computer up to my car. Yeah Red flag 2 I still had to pay the hundred dollars on top of the service for the actual labor that was recommended to turn the engine light off Red flag 3 after the recommendations we went with the O2 sensor. The price for O2 sensor was about 260 I believe dollars just to unhook the O2 sensor replace it. Labor for any O2 sensor is not that hard or difficult to replace especially a commercial shop with all the tools. Red flag 4 why every time I head to the shop it's a coincidence that things actually get worse after I leave the shop. Literally get something fixed and two more things break or needs to be repaired/ replaced. Red flag 5 remember when I said they gave me all the recommended services they think I need or what the $100 I spent for accuracy on the appropriate specified part and guess what, they was wrong once again. A timing belt kit is what I needed. But they had $500+ in other recommended services. read more

I had an excellent experience at Tires Plus! I called yesterday for an appointment and they were able to fit me in today. Everyone I interacted with on the phone and in person was friendly and helpful. I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation before making a trip North. My car was completed when they said it would be and there were no surprises or pressure to buy or do anything that hadn't been planned. They returned my car to me in the same clean condition it was in and all seems to be well. I took a walk while waiting, but there's also plenty of seating, magazines, and television to pass the time. I'm only visiting the area, but if I lived here, this would be my go-to place! read more

Due to the utter incompetence of Tires Plus, my car was misdiagnosed and now a $1,500 job is over $3,000 for a car barely worth $4,000. I brought my car in because it was overheating and the radiator seemed to be bubbling. They made me take it somewhere else to get the engine chemically cleaned so they could better look at it. Fine. Brought it back to Tires Plus, ran a diagnostic, had a look, then decided that the oil cooler hoses, engine mounts, spark plug set, valve gasket cover, camshaft, grommets, turbo inlet hose must all be changed out. Fine, as long as it would fix the problem. $1,500. Fine. I pick the car up, take it to work and it begins to overheat, again. I bring it back only for them to come to the conclusion that it was the timing belt, water pump and power steering hose causing the overheating! Altogether, this will be another $1,522 job. Absolutely ridiculous. I have a tremendously difficult time believing that this wasn't something they noticed the day beforehand taking the car apart. I feel taken advantage of. This business is predatory and will squeeze a customer dry at any opportunity. read more
