Chuck in the kitchen is AMAZING . I came her last year in 2024 & i was in a verrrry dark space in life . I love him so much , it's easy to say someone makes you smile for the moment . But Chuck is just a ray of sunshine & he's so easy to open up & talk to. Although he works in the kitchen he's very helpful & sweet .If you ever get the chance stop by the kitchen , he cooks your food soooo good . & he keeps a good spirit no matter your circumstances he ALWAYS has time to talk & give you hope . Good morning everyone, Before I write anything on this page, I need to thank my heavenly father who has allowed my nephew, Jahmaar Williams, to see another day. If I tell you, Jahmaar is a fighter, he's a fighter! When he gets better, and he will, he's going to have a testimony to share. With that being said, I need to provide some feedback about the experience at TIRR Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center. When Jahmaar started his journey with TIRR, I guess I had something else in mind about his rehab. I though TIRR would be there to really help him make drastic improvements, but that wasn't so. His improvements were from God working, not TIRR. TIRR is just a business making money. When Jahmaar started making improvements, TIRR made the decision to release him, send him home. This is a decision the doctor made, not the insurance company. With a TBI, the doctor makes the recommendation to the insurance company about the amount of time a patient receives inpatient rehab care, not the insurance company. If you don't believe me, just google, Texas Law Regarding Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Also, TIRR, for the amount of money you charge, please hire more PCA's. The PCA on nightshift, Helen, she needs retraining in her job. No family member should have to stay overnight to make sure their love one is changed. Leaving a patient in soiled under garment for four hours is absolutely WRONG! I do have an eyewitness to this. And Robotina, horrible attitude, just horrible. She doesn't need to be around the patients or family members with that negativity. In closing, for all the employees who took good care of my nephew, I say thank you. To the decision makers, such as board members, executive staff, and treating physicians, you may want to rethink how you release patients in the mist of their improvement because one day, it could be you. Worst experience!!! One star is being kind. If only Google had negative stars. There are some bad apples that ruin the experience. Yes, this's downtown, but they need to understand that this is the medical center and people all over the world come here Some of the staff are plain horrible! Some of them are rude! As someone who's in healthcare, I'm shocked by the behavior and culture of these staff! I have worked in hospitals/ healthcare for years and when I say I am shocked, that doesn't even begin to describe my experience. Some of the nurse managers, nurses, front desk, OA, caseworkers and security personnel are just not palatable! They just leave a bad taste in your mouth! The culture for some of the staff is 'take that insurance money and run!' I have been harassed by some of the staff while minding my business and trying to think of ways to care for my loved one If the TIRR staff that love their jobs feel offended by this review - please do a better job of weeding out these bad apples To anyone reading this, if you have no choice but to be here, keep your visit short and sweet. Just keep saying, "No offense, guys, but home is where my heart is." Believe me, you don't want to stay here too long. Never had a bad experience here. Since my car accident in 2019 Christmas Day this has been my second home away from home.

Administration refused to appeal large 5000$ of care for therapy stating Medicare had a cap which Medicare denies and has all year. Yes you owe us and pay up. I can not stand or walk without nerve pain. So when I break my hip I will stay home in the future. They need to understand that I pay 550 a month for Medicare and 328 a month for a secondary insurance but it is useless with the Medicare denial of a CAP. Guess they want $$ and never to see you again! read more

Grateful is the word for TIRR!! I am a CVA survivor! It was a bad situation but I am alive and enjoy time with my family and I are happy of the amazing physical therapists, speech therapists, doctors, cnas, transports and occupational therapists. I walked again, used my arm again. They encourage, strength and drive you safely and it makes a difference in my recovery. A few months ago I got an answer as to why I always have trouble sleeping and wake up tired, I have sleep apnea and have most likely had it most of my life. This discovery was both alarming and comforting, knowing that I stop breathing in my sleep is a little scary, but now I can get some help and take care of myself better. I was lucky enough to get into the TIRR sleep study lab earlier than I expected due to a cancellation. My experience was a positive one and their results reinforced the fact that I have sleep apnea. I parked in the recommended garage 6 next to the facility and they validated the parking so there was no cost incurred there. I made my way to the facility and was directed to the sleep lab. The set up was clean, it looked like a small hotel room. They had cookies, juice and bottled water among other snacks available. A TV, chair and closets were available, though there was only a single bathroom for the entire sleep lab. The memory foam mattress was something I've never experienced and they encourage you to bring your own pillow and blanket to help facilitate the study. The staff was professional, Carlos talked me through the procedure and explained everything to me, answering my questions as we went along. He was careful with the attachment of sensors and wires to my head and various portions of my body and helped me in and out of the bed when I needed it. The attachment of a CPAP breathing machine was a new experience, I hadn't realized how much air I'm not actually breathing in. The machine was quiet and I didn't hear any noise from the other rooms. It was also one of the best nights of sleep I've had in years.. ..even with a machine strapped to my head and wires glued and applied all over my body. If you have trouble sleeping, if you wake up tired every day, just go talk to your Doctor and see about a sleep study. I'd definitely recommend trying to get into this lab for your study. My son went for 3 wks inpatient, I found it acceptable. They encouraged him to use one of their docs as his primary care doc, big mistake!!!! You can only leave messages for doc/staff, which are not answered timely, if ever! As I tried to get though to management, the employees started to say words like escalate??! And then become rude, argumentative, ask you to hold, and accidentally hang up after having you on hold 30 min!!! I hope others see this and consider other options. How dare they treat people this way, as I know for a fact they are very well paid by our insurance, but no more. And I will make sure to tell everyone I know read more

My husband was in a motorcycle accident on July 23rd, 2021, and while he was in the ICU at Memorial Hermann TMC I was told he would benefit from being placed here for his recovery after being discharged from the IMU. I read the reviews and really got close to almost not sending him here, but in my opinion, TIRR helped me get my husband back. They are very thorough with evaluations and therapies. He had TBI (traumatic brain injury) and if I had to put a number on it, I would sat he's 80% back to his normal self. I will forever be grateful to TIRR for the work and effort they put into his recovery and I don't think he'd be where he is today without them. I have a few techs we remember by name, even though we had plenty of them during his two month hospital stay, that stuck with us. Nicole Rocha (nurse tech) made a special place in our hearts and is one my husbands remembers fondly for her help and care for us both. I can honestly say she made it easier for my husband and I's transition into our new routine while there. 10/10 would recommend sending your loved ones here if you have the opportunity, I'm not going to say they preform miracles but they get pretty dang close. read more

Can't say enough in favor of this place. My dad suffered a traumatic injury was thankfully transferred here for the higher level of trauma care. He received absolutely the best there is, from the moment he arrived to the minute he left. Money can't buy the kind of compassion we experienced, on such a broad level, especially across the entire hospital system. The doctors, techs, nurses, and absolutely everyone in between truly cares about him, and cares about me as his daughter, aka eyes and ears when he's too weak to look out for himself. I visited this facility to see a sleep doctor (Dr. Tallavajuhla). I ended up with a $300 charge for just visiting the facility. The doctor billed separately and the facility charged me $300 for just sitting on the chair and seeing the doctor in a doctor room. Really?!?! And nobody told me the facility had a fee when I gave them my copay. Very misleading. read more

This is a magical place that performs miracles for patients who need physical, occupational, and speech therapies. My father suffered a brain hemorrhage, which resulted in extensive physical and cognitive deficits (e.g., hemiparesis, aphasia, apraxia). Upon admission, he had a tracheotomy, feeding tube, and net bed. In fact, his attending doctor from neuro ICU at first recommended for him to be brought to a nursing home first. Of course, the good folks at TIRR saw something in my dad that his attending doctor didn't, and recommended for my dad to be admitted. Through rehabilitation sessions that lasted anywhere from 5 to 7 hours a day, my dad quickly regained use of his right side and eventually removed his trach and peg tubes to eat regular meals and drink thin liquids. He also steadily made gains cognitively, albeit at a slower pace. Today, although my dad still cannot work due to residual deficits, his quality of life had improved dramatically. His memory is still improving, as is his aphasia. We owe it to the excellent team who cared for my dad: Dr. Falco, Ms. Zegarrundo, Ms. Cheng, and Ms. Wilson. read more

I went to the Polio clinic since I have polio. I am a 59 year old adult so I was prescribed by the TIRR doctor to get physical therapy. She prescribed a regular and aquatic therapy once a week all done in the Memorial City TIRR location. I provided TIRR my Humana insurance and proceeded to get the therapy each time paying my $55 copay. Humana paid the regular therapy but rejected the aquatic therapy as "not medically necessary". After advising Humana that I have polio so the need for the aquatic was justified it was still rejected. I turned to TIRR for help in providing justification to the insurance company and did not get any. I was being charged $571.50 for a 45 minute therapy each time I went. I also spoke to Janice Leggett with TIRR insurance billing and was told that it is my responsibility to verify coverage. I did have coverage for physical therapy the problem is justifying the prescribed therapy. No help from TIRR so now I am stuck with a huge bill Memorial Herman expects me to pay. The amount charged is astronomically ridiculous and they would not settle with a lower amount. I stopped all dealings with TIRR Memorial Herman. read more
