Every time I walk in, someone asks if I need help. Not the obligatory "Can I help you?" as they're walking away, but the kind where they actually stop, listen, and help you find exactly what you're looking for. They don't just point toward aisle 12 and wish you luck--they'll walk you right to it. Sometimes paying a dollar more is worth saving 30 minutes of wandering around a giant warehouse. Karl's proves that great service never goes out of style. It's the kind of place where you're treated like a neighbor instead of a barcode.

Given that the Mineral Society stages vehicles before each field trip in the lot next door, this Family Dollar easily became the most popular place in the valley. Of course the lines were insane at this time, but the employees (while bewildered) handled it with ease. Clean. Tidy. Nicely stocked. Decent prices. If you're in Trona (although, not sure why you would be) this is the place to stop for all your dollar store needs... never mind that it's the only place to stop.
