Unfortunately her flight cancellation, prevented her arrival. The Henry Ford Museum was gracious to pivot and offer everyone FREE admission to the museum for our inconvenience. I thank my Yelp Bestie for an annual membership pass that she won for two people. I am truly grateful. This was a prime time to turn lemons into lemonade! We decided to check out the DaVinci special exhibition, shop the Museum Store and have lunch at the Plum Market Kitchen, too. The DaVinci exhibit was amazing. I had no idea of how many inventions Leonardo DaVinci made. I was only familiar with the Mona Lisa painting and the Safety Bridge. The Room of Mirrors was pretty cool. From the outside with their great tents featuring the best local and national techy/creative/innovative organizations and hackerspaces, local businesses selling their wares (t-shirts, food, etc) and amazing things to see and do (like the giant mousetrap, the massive bikes, gokart races, Theatre Bizarre, and the huge ass dragon that spits fire and scared the bejeebus out of my 3 year old cousin) there was plenty going on to make your visit worth your while. Some local eats from Buddy's Pizza, Avalon Breads, and Treat Dreams rounded out the tastes and there were even tunes from local bands in case you wanted your socks rocked off. Adding to the fun was also the indoor displays in the museum. Tickets to the event included entrance to The Henry Ford Museum so not only did you have all that amazingness that they had to offer there were also great MF bits to check out like crafty spaces for kids, tutorials on how to knit/crochet, and the Handmade Detroit section featuring a craft fair from locals selling good from artwork to jewelry, make up and housewares. NEAT! Also loved the free app you could download for the faire. Made the event even more interactive. It included the schedules, maps, and a game wherein you scanned all the checkpoints to enter into a drawing to win some prizes. Totally sweet. Extra props to the cupcake car rolling around and the water swing which I was sincerely sad I didn't get to take a ride on. Next year! I'm already eagerly anticipating their return!

This year included a large Star Wars & Star Trek exhibition, which was a huge hit. Many people in costumes & photos could be taken with Star Wars characters. There were many outside activities as well: live music, rides, go carts, robotic competition, crazy bikes, etc. The only downside was not too many food places & the few that were there were crowded & only a few places to sit & eat. Also, it was sunny & hot. No water or drink vendors, except for the beer garden. It was fun & different. Would definitely recommend & will go again! Very nice elite event.

As a novice of woodworking, I was blown-away by the intricate woodwork and finishings throughout the home. The three ladies that lead our tour of the home shared many interesting details about the property, its restoration, and details of Clara and Henry's years at the estate. Many of the restoration stories, like finding a tub for Henry's bathroom or how Clara had a section repainted white were intriguing. Even though much of the home, especially the second floor, is still being restored it was a fascinating experience.

The juxtaposition of the estate of an industrialist (or robber baron, or visionary, or racist, depending on your point of view) with a distinctive immigrant community makes for a striking reflection on Americana. The grounds include some gardens, and a lake with a path around it. Access to the river is limited, but it didn't look like that impressive of a river. The greenery is more worthwhile.

Inside, you'll find 16 life-sized metal sculptures by the artist, John Payne of Asheville, North Carolina. Walking in will excite your senses with sculptures that move, sound effect buttons, and dazzling lighting. It's a feast for the senses. You can use levers and pulleys to bring these ancient beasts to life. Unfortunately, words only can say so much when it comes to a visual event, so I've posted a small number of pictures to give you a better understanding of how amazing this experience truly is. 5 stars! They utilized the hospital in most of the attraction, which made the whole experience even more creepy! I went for a private event, but it opened this weekend. I recommend everyone to go check out this historical site. So much has happened here in the past, you can feel the grounds energy as you pull into the parking lot. Looking up at those old windows, you can just feel someone or something peering from one! Go check out Eloise Asylum! The best haunted attraction in the state of Michigan!

What an interesting tour!…read more Pictures are not allowed when walking on the elevated walkway that goes completely around the assembly lines, but it is what it is. The elevated walkway was quite long, and enabled us to watch multiple stations that were involved in the assembly lines of the F-150. I would do this over if given the chance, because we were on a bus tour that had limited time.

What makes this tour special is the building is not just a museum, but a real working truck factory located at the Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Truck Plant.
