I use a different title attorney, and my title attorney explains what Allegiance might have forgotten. When you get the tax bill at the end of the year, it will always say you owe. That's because your lender is holding the funds in escrow. In January or February the lender was going to pay the bill you decided to pay before Christmas. Anyone reading this in Louisiana, the tax bill is just information for you when you have a mortgage. Allison will now have to request a refund from the parish and that takes a while. After we finish closing on our purchase, I will be back to adjust the stars here. Just wanted to share this info in case it helps others. The title company didn't mess up in Allison's situation.
