Eric complete understands this process and was ready to help and ensure everything worked out smoothly. Another example since we are trying to match colors. Eric said bring in a drawer or shelf from your old furniture so we can 100% match things. 2. Selection-If you like mission style furniture this is the place. Huge selection and huge number of stains. 3. Quality-It is unsurpassed. No ifs ands or buts. 4. Sustainable-They have their own tree farm and provide wood to the craftsmen. 5. Price-We looked at buying similar furniture where we were moving. The cost was 2.5 times more. Even with moving it was a no brainer. Whether you are in state or out of state this is the place to go. I cannot recommend them enough.

We paid just over $21,000 to Kona Cabinetry for a kitchen project that began January 15, 2026. We…read morewere told the installation would take approximately three days. Instead, the project stretched nearly four months, with major pieces not installed until May 12 and additional finishing concerns remaining after that. Our experience included refrigerator panels that had not initially been ordered, insufficient material, missing and incorrect cabinet doors, doors modified inside our home, repeated hood replacements, shipping delays, missed dates, missing trim and finishing pieces, and a replacement hood that still did not properly match the surrounding cabinetry. The hood alone took four or five attempts to arrive with the correct stain and without water spots or damage. The hood and most of the cabinetry came from KCD. KCD and Kona's owner both confirmed that KCD reimbursed Kona in connection with the hood issue, although we do not know the amount Kona received. Near the end of the project, Kona's owner came to our home, delivered a $2,500 refund tied to the hood, expressed empathy and promised a quick resolution. In our view, returning the amount paid for a hood Kona could not successfully deliver did not represent meaningful financial accountability for the months of delays, ordering errors, field modifications, communication failures and remaining workmanship or finish concerns. Throughout the project, my wife and I repeatedly had to initiate communication, document open items, request dates and follow up when those dates passed. Even after Kona's owner became our primary point of contact, multiple calls were not returned. When we met with Kona's owner, he acknowledged that some cabinet details should not have looked the way they did. However, much of the broader experience was attributed to manufacturers, freight issues, outdated catalogs, discontinued products, a former employee and "normal remodeling complications." We hired and paid Kona - not its manufacturers, carriers or former employees. We expected Kona to manage those relationships and remain accountable for the final product. We finally lost confidence when Kona came out for what was supposed to be the final visit and once again did not have everything needed to finish the project. Additional pieces were still missing, and the hood still did not match after the trim was installed. Accepting more replacement products and more corrective visits no longer felt like a realistic path to the result we had paid for. We then attempted to resolve the experience privately. Kona responded with a settlement agreement requiring us to immediately release all claims involving the project, including warranty and workmanship issues. It also prohibited any reviews, complaints and public statements. Kona's payment would come later, and if Kona failed to pay, all we could pursue is the settlement amount, and our underlying claims would still remain permanently released. We declined because we were not willing to immediately give up every right and then once again trust Kona to perform later. No renovation is perfect, but this went far beyond normal remodeling complications. The most disappointing part was Kona's continued reluctance to take meaningful ownership of the overall experience and final result. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Kona Cabinetry.

We first met up with Tom ( the company President and designer), He measured the area, sketched up some drawings and we all discussed what we thought would be fun, great looking and functional. A few days later, he emailed us blueprints and we met again with another designer, craftsmen. We changed our ideas a few times more before coming up with what we decided on. We scheduled a build and they were very good about keeping to their installation date. A well experienced carpenter showed up and within one day had it all installed. The next day the countertop crew came out to measure and laser scan for the corian countertop. A week later that was installed - perfectly.... We had the black subway tiles installed and had a family gathering to show off our "New Wine Bar". It was a huge hit, everyone loved it. What a improvement to our new home. We are hosting this year and will be showing off the great product he and his team installed. As far as the product that was made and installed, it looks GREAT! We were going for a knotty rustic alder look to try to match our kitchen and stairway. The match is perfect! I could tell he has pride in the work he does because he laser etched Thelen Cabinets logo in the exterior side of the drawer that is visible when the drawer is opened (see pictures). The slides for the drawers and soft close hardware on both the drawers and cabinets are so incredibly smooth. The cabinet shelves are adjustable and fit perfectly in the cabinet. The doors close perfectly with no gaps or loose parts. We are so incredibly lucky to have found Chad at Thelen Cabinets. He has gone above and beyond all of expectations to make sure that we are happy. I will be recommending Thelen Cabinets to everyone I come in contact with. My husband was…read morecatastrophically injured in an accident and we were told we need to move somewhere that can accommodate his wheelchair and other disability needs. Very expensive. When we reached out to Kristiaan to ask if he could help us remodel our kitchen, he not only agreed to give us a quote without charge, he also came to our house and taped out the entire design on the floor, no charge. None of the other contractors were willing to put in that kind of time and effort without a guarantee that they would get the job. Kristiaan not only worked with the IKEA plans we had designed, but he further figured out the engineering required to support the large, open span that we had to have suspended over my husband's wheelchair. Everything you see in the photos is brand new and done by Kristiaan. What you don't see is that, on the other side where we already had IKEA cabinets, he moved the entire cabinet run over and built a stabilized support for our new kitchen sink. He also worked with the countertop installers to get us the cutouts that we needed, and recommended the best outlet/lighting system for us. And when IKEA dropped the ball and failed to deliver the promised toekicks, Kristiaan developed a workaround and personally went to IKEA to pick them up for us. A good friend of mine who is a luxury home builder in the Twin Cities said that Kristiaan basically fulfilled the idea of "aging in place" that is extremely popular now. Instead of moving to a "senior" type development, hire Kristiaan instead to make over your current home into your dream home.
