Nashoba air and boiler installed a heat pump in December 2021. Within a few months it stopped…read moreworking they quickly came out and refilled unit. And then a second repair that took two days to fix. They repaired the unit, but not all the water damage With streaks of bluish green down my new walls. Now warped and swelling. The leaking units caused damage to two bedrooms in my home as well as exterior siding. They denied and refused to supply me with their liability insurance carrier. They're so unprofessional. Other companies can install heatpumps. Who will stand-by their product and installation. Not Nashoba air and boiler. 0 stars should be an option!

Nashoba quoted $850 for the entire job, including labor and the part, which costs roughly $100. I was completely shocked. Then came the "discounts": $100 off, and when they saw I was still stunned, another $50. It felt like buying a used car, with a high-pressure negotiation designed to make me feel like I was getting a deal, when in reality I was being ripped off. If I hadn't shown my shock, I likely would have paid the full $850. The work itself was fine, and the technician was polite, but the price was outrageous. The national average for this job is $375-$450, and even in Massachusetts, the high end is about $575. I paid $700. I later learned that Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks is owned by Sila Services, backed by Goldman Sachs. This corporate structure adds overhead and drives up prices for customers. I thought I was hiring a local company, but I was wrong -- this is part of a multi-owner corporate platform. After reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear my experience was not unique. I wish I had read them first. If you want reasonably priced plumbing, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a genuinely local company.

Next day, they did show up and got the job done. The tech Lily was very knowledgeable and helpful and got my AC system up and running again. I dinged them one star solely for the no-show the day before. Lily gets 5 stars.

However, they are very expensive and push the boundaries of being honest and fair. We recently had a leak in our main drain pipe in the basement and called Papalia. They charge $99 for a consult, but it can be used towards repairs. They diagnosed the issue and then wrote up a proposal to fix it for $900. It sounded expensive, but we already paid the $99 and didn't want to start over again from scratch so we agreed. The plumber also misled us about how simple the fix actually was. It ended up taking him about 20 minutes to replace a 3-foot section of pipe with PVC. He also "forgot" about the $99 credit deal and tried to charge us $1000 and we had to call him on it before he would agree to honor the agreement. So they fixed the issue, the job seems to have been done well. But we way overpaid and every step of the interaction felt designed to mislead and extract as much money as possible from us. Not going to use them again in the future.
