I brought my Prius in because my fobs weren't working. I explained to them exactly what was going on. they told me it was a battery in my key but charged me for $400 for running diagnostics and that everything was good and then less than a week later I got stranded on the side of the road because the car is started doing the exact same thing that it was doing before I took it into TJ crossman I would recommend that people take their car to a shop where people know what they're doing read more

3.5 stars. I came here after my friend recommended me TJ auto for my old truck. I dropped the truck a Wednesday 2:30pm. I was supposed to get it back the same say but eventually had to wait 1.5 day for a master cylinder replacement and a brake fluid bleed (had to call twice to get updates as to why the truck wasn't ready on Thursday) for a total of $350 +parts I purchased online (I could have done it myself but wanted a warranty on a brake job). I asked them to verify the steering fluid but didn't get any feedback about it. Generally speaking, I feel this shop is very professional. Please understand they go "by the book". Period. Would I go back? not sure at all. Plenty of options in Vista where you can discuss, negotiate and still get equivalent service in my opinion. read more

Never come through on their word. Still waiting for a call back for a breakdown of repair costs and it's been almost two months

My car was here for almost 4 months. I had no loaner for the first 3months didn't get one till the last 3wks and i wasn't about updated bout my car unless i physically called. Got a totally Of 4 transmissions from this place but the 1st two were faulty. Since Both of the items were faulty and within labor it would've been at no cost to me.Therefore Due to the company not wanting paying to for anything or cover at least a new transmission i was told that i had to PAY for a 2nd time for a new transmission's,including labor costs which came to another 4k so in total i paid 8k and lost 4k. In this instance they wouldve cover the costs bc this was out of my hands since i was within the warranty, but instead they then CHARGE ME to pay a 2nd time bc the companies failed to not respect there contracts. read more

Long story short, got the run around. Ended up fixing something else...fine, it was needed. But never was specifically told what was wrong with the original reason I came in for. Excellent service and a good price (with a coupon) for my routine oil change. As a plus, the young lady at the desk was cordial, professional, and caring. At age 25, she has a great future ahead of her. I will return to TJ for every repair I may need in the future. I have had my fair share of car troubles this year and Paul and his team is the only mechanic that has been fair, honest, hard working. They take the time to inspect and talk to me about my car. TJ crossman's response to me is a joke. It cost over $1500 to undo all the damage done to this car. The Bureau of Auto Repair was in complete agreement and used the words "shoddy workmanship", "dangerous". This is a buyer beware shop for sure. Oh and anyone who thinks TJ Crossman should represent our school district should think about his lack of integrity and accountable. (He is trying to run for a position). But then again, maybe he will fit in great on the school board. read more

I feel that they know me and my family, so we are not just a number. Shayna is great at communicating and explaining everything to me before, during and after. I can tell that it is important to the staff to do a good job and ensure customer satisfaction. I only gave 4 stars because the last time I came in with a noise, they did a repair that did not solve the problem. But I was able to bring it back , and they did finally fix the problem, at no futher cost. However, the originial repair (for perhaps a problem that didn't imminently need fixing) was hundreds more than the part that *really* was the problem. Being new to the area so I needed someone reliable and trustworthy to work on my vehicles. Didn't want to go to a "dealer", but would rather go to a small business that's been around for a while. I read some reviews on TJ Crossman, granted there were one or two that weren't 5 stars. However on those reviews, TJ responded politely to the reviewers with what I thought were good, honest replies dealing with someone that was upset and complaining. I just needed an oil change so I thought I'd give TJ a try. From the moment I met his daughter Shayna and Paul in the office when I walked in I had a gut feeling that they were the real deal so I left the car there. Came back after the oil change, met TJ who was very friendly and truly does do a lot for the the community of Vista. I did receive a report on other issues with my vehicle, no upsell, just a report of what they recommend with photos and they even entered the service into CarFax I think it is. One of the recommendations was a brake flush which I took it back in for. Once again, everyone was very friendly and the cost was very reasonable. AND, the brakes work...the other noted items may wait for a while as they weren't "that important", just things that needed attention. I have never been disappointed with the service that I received at TJ Crossman's. Once in a while they will send out coupons that help immensely for retirees. I know how annoying it can be when a mechanic mentions other stuff that needs to be done, like they are looking for more work, but Paul and Shanya always let me know what is important and what is cautionary. This (5) star rating is on my phone conversation with Aldo who works for T. J. Crossman's Auto Repair. Yesterday, I called this shop to get a quote to compare prices regarding a fluid leak that is coming from underneath my mom's 1998 Honda Accord Sedan LX Car. The phone rang twice and I talked to Aldo. I asked him how much will he charge me to do a Diagnosis Test? Aldo said he will charge $137.50 and that Diagnosis Test will include doing an inspection on the transmission fluid that is continuing to leak from underneath my mom's Honda Accord LX Sedan Car from the Transmission. Aldo also said he will use a power washer sprayer to clean off the excessive fluid leak from this Transmission Part. I would have to drop off my mom's car in the early morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. which will be a (4 hour time period). Aldo said he will be doing a thorough Diagnosis Test to make sure that (fluid leak) is really coming from the Transmission underneath my mom's 1998 Honda Accord Sedan LX Car. I told Aldo that I already have an appointment from (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) with this Oceanside Transmission Shop that I made previously to conduct a Diagnosis Test on my mom's 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan Car. Crystal this dispatcher quoted me the price of $70.00 for this Diagnosis Test that will be done today by one of their lead transmission technicians. I said to Aldo that I wanted a (second opinion) that is the reason, I called T. J. Crossman's Shop today. Aldo gave me really GREAT ADVICE yesterday. Aldo said he knows Oceanside Transmission Shop really well since this company has been in business for (30 years). Aldo said that Oceanside Transmission Shop is a reputable business. Aldo told me to NOT put (2 shops) against each other for the same issue. Then Aldo said to just have one of the Oceanside Transmission Lead Techs. do a diagnosis and inspect the fluid leak from my mom's transmission. Aldo said to listen to what this Oceanside Transmission lead technician results are for this Diagnostic Test on the fluid leakage issue. Aldo is a (great asset) to this T. J. Crossman's Auto Repair Shop because he gave me excellent advice even though, I didn't make an appointment with his shop to get a Diagnosis Test done on the fluid leak coming from this transmission on my mom's car. Aldo also gave me (excellent customer service) during our telephone conversation yesterday afternoon and Aldo was very caring to my needs regarding this (fluid leak issue) on my mom's transmission on her car. Wanted to try this business for all that they do for the community. Had an 8 am appointment for brakes and tune-up. Was told I needed $5000 worth of work including 3 $76 windshield wipers . $76 each! Was promised the brakes and radiator hose would be complete by the end of the day. They weren't. No phone call, no nothing. Car wasn't finished until 2 pm the next day. Won't be back. I guess they charge ridiculous prices so the customers can pay for the free car they give out every year. The owner texted me asking how everything went. I told him the same thing I wrote here.
