Ok, TJ Maxx. Well I recently reconnected with them over the summer as a friend of mine visiting town really likes shopping there. It had been years since I stepped into a TJ Maxx and it was nice to get reacquainted. It's almost like a Bed Bath and Beyond / Marshall's / Kohls type of place but seem to have a lot of clothes. And they be shopping in there. Lots of clothes and shoes, some small kitchen appliances, some small furniture offerings, some food, storage options, organizers, luggage, makeup, a lot of stuff here. I didn't find any men's clothing or shoes there - I think Kohls as a better selection IMO, but picked up some good organizational items to use for the kitchen. Be weary of the prices - even though it may seem to best best or lowest price I like to check google for validation. Overall I spent a lot of time browsing but only came out with a couple of items. But I think it is a great option for your essentials, and it is always busy here too. read more

I found a really cute matching top in pants for summer that is mostly burnt orange so I will be able to wear it during UT football season! I found it at the TJ Maxx in Sunset Valley but when I got home, I put my hands in the pocket in the left one went all the way through. I had to return that to TJ Maxx in Sunset Valley. I'm working at the domain Whole Foods this week/weekend and I was able to go to the TJ Maxx on great Hills Trails after work and wow, they have so much more stuff! I got some great things on sale for six dollars! And I got the matching pants! That store was packed with merchandise. I even bought Christmas presents because they were marked down so much and I like to buy Christmas presents throughout the year so that I don't have to fork out a lot of money in December. I just have to remember where I hide them! Ha ha ha! read more

I will NEVER try on clothes at this store again. If I ever shop there again, I will buy everything I'm interested in, take them home and try them on and take back what doesn't work. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this store over the years but the dressing room debacle today was outrageous. My 12 yr old granddaughter probably had 40-50 items to try on. Ugh. I of course had to see every item to verify that they were not too short, not too tight, etc. I was verbally accosted at every turn trying to switch clothes out. Was I frustrated? Absolutely! The attendant asked if I wanted a manager and I said yes. (Jennifer, Amazing BTW) came and explained that the employee was new and they are trained this way. Jennifer has helped me and my granddaughter in the dressing room several times before and I've never had to deal with this disaster before. Other women were even chiming in that it was ridiculous. Even though I couldn't wait to get out of there, I apologized to the 2 dressing room attendants and we continued our quest. 30 minutes later Elaine (got her name from another manager) comes in and stands over me barking orders. I asked " Who are you?" She would not give her name though I asked multiple times, and said she was clocked out so she didn't have to tell me her name. She said her employee claimed I was yelling at them and that I threw things at her. I literally laughed out loud. Absolutely ridiculous lie! All Elaine had to do was ask the other employee standing there if it was true and she would have found out quickly that her new employee had lied to her. Check the video footage Elaine and see that your employee was lying and made a total fool out of you. I was literally shocked that especially as a manager she would treat a customer this way. Jennifer on her own deserves 5 stars. She backed her employees but also talked calmly to the customer de-escalating the situation. Hopefully Jennifer will be set up to train other employees like Elaine on how to speak to customers in the future. Horrible experience for me and my granddaughter. I would say I can't believe it took me so long to write a review for this store but I can because I swear I black out as soon as I pull into their parking lot. Love isn't strong enough a word for my feelings but if it's any indication of my affinity, I worked here part time for a little while a couple years back strictly because I was in there so much and I wanted the discount and to be closer to the products. I highly recommend this location because it has one of the best selection of products across all categories I've seen in this type of discount store and it's getting better and better. I primarily go for skincare now and you can find korean and japanese products that used to have to be ordered from over seas. I know a lot of people talk down on these types of stores saying the products you find here are at or close to expiration. But let me tell you that's not the case. Can it happen? Yes. But it's also happened to me buy products from Ulta. Like anything and anywhere, you have to be a diligent shopper. Also, patience is key when shopping here. I can spend HOURS roaming, sifting through products and redoing it again and again. And it pays off more often than not. On my most recent trip I spent $168 but I came away with a lot of products to add to my already extensive skincare routine. But I really saw the payoff when I got home and price checked my products. Almost all of them I got for more than half off the retail price! Most impressive was Perricone MD moisturizer I bought for $20. Turns out it costs $186 on Amazon and the Perricone website. There was also a serum that was on sale for $7 but it was $44 on the korean website I like to buy products from. And NOTHING was even close to expiration. Most of them expire in 2026. I know times are still a bit rough for everyone, so if you need to satisfy a bougie part of your personality or just pamper your tired soul treat yourself here. It'll ensure you get your money's worth. Also keep in mind that TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Home Goods are all under the same parent company so the price points a very similar. And what you find at TJ Maxx you'll more than likely be able to find it (or complimentary products) at Marshall's. So if you want a whole line of skincare or an outfit from the same brand head to toe, I'd recommend checking both. read more

I go roughly every 2-3 weeks and I love how the store is always in pretty good condition, however their shoe selection isn't the best. This is my go-to TJ Maxx location. There is a HUGE selection of beauty items, face care, skin care, and other self-care items. I always find great deals. I will say that that it does it get pretty busy at times. If you are trying to social distance I would go at a non-peak shopping time. I think they are monitoring how many people are in the store, but it get crowded in certain areas. read more

I love perusing this store at regular intervals to find unexpected treasures hidden on its shelves. You have to be diligent, but you will find things you MUST have, especially in the home furnishings//kitchen department. Among my finds have been scharffenberger chocolate bars at more than 35% off, stainless steel cookware that rivals all-clad for a fraction of the price, kitchen gadgets galore, good quality kids toys and books at VERY cheap prices, some delicious BBQ sauce, some great wine glasses cheaper than I could buy throw-away plastic glasses, nice, soft full-sized bath towels for 4.99 in bright colors, a spritzer bottle of truffle-infused oil from Napa for only 4.99 that was amazing..... Oh -- and my lovely Tumi briefcase was about 60% off. I don't find many clothes here and never shoes. The jewelry is definitely worth checking out, though. Yes, the flourescent lights are harsh and there is a lot of crap but you just have to wade through stuff and if you don't find something the first time, you probably will your second. read more

Maybe I went on a good day(Tuesday). The line was very long though! The line went past the entrance to the line. I decided to not get my things because I did not want to wait in the line. These types of store's have great value on purses jewelry I ever seen..the problem is you must go in a flash since they are sold fast. Best times to get the deal of a lifetime is mornings so the shopping here is hit or miss on the items you can find expecially purfumes a rare find that carry designer names of all kinds. Parking is easy a whole parking lot it has tons of stores like Home Goods ect. Just go see for yourselves love my new rings I bought today and yes going back for more jewelry later. Like most people, I LOVE a good deal... and for people like me, walking into a TJ Maxx is tantamount to an alcoholic walking into an all-nite happy hour with $1 drinks and $20 bucks in my pocket.... I can quickly get "drunk" on 20 things I never knew I needed... but at the time, it was an awesome deal and "need." Of the discount department store alternatives, they are my favorite. I love the housewares aisles... especially the kitchen gadgets... I never knew you could get a kitchen whisk in so many shapes, sizes and pretty colors ;o). You can frequently find some great name brands, All-Clad, Wustoff, Le Cruset to name a few... and they are equally savvy in the designers for clothes, shoes and HANDBAGS!!!! Cole Haan, Michael Kors, Furla, B Makowski, Kipling, Tumi, lots of great European designers, and the mainstays logo brands like D&B, Coach... the designer stuff turns, so get it while you can... it may not be there next week. My personal favorites are all the red tags, as if this stuff was not cheap enough, and when a red tag gets a yellow tag... they might has well pay me to take it. LOVE the bargain. read more

Oh TJ Maxx how I love you. I don't really go to TJ Maxx to shop for clothes. I usually go to the bath & body, beauty, and the dog section. I love that they have so many items in the bath and body section. I'm always trying new lotions, body wash, and beauty products. I've never not loved what I've gotten. If you have a dog or a cat you should definitely go to the pet section and have a look. They have so many treats that you can find at PetSmart, Petco or your local Austin pet store. Usually treats are $2 cheaper than the original price. It's not a lot but it's better than nothing. If you are going to buy loads of treats make sure you check the expiration date for them. Although I don't really shop for women's clothes, I do check out the men section when I want to buy something for my siblings. I've found some really nice men shirts for a very decent price. Purple tags on clothing means that they're from a designer. I bought two designer tagged items for my brother (a shirt and a jacket) and he loves them. Also, if you're an iPhone user then you should definitely go to TJ Maxx to shop for iPhone cases. They have so many nice cases that sometime it make me want to switch over to an iPhone. You should also go and check their notebook and stationery supplies. I've found a lot of cute looking college ruled notebooks for school. read more

I come here at least twice a month whenever I am dateless on a Friday night. Of course, I'm missing out on Ghost Whisperer but I don't think Jennifer Love Hewitt misses me too much. I love designer jeans. TJ usually has a few selections of Seven for All Mankind, Joe's, Hudson, and True Religion but I never find any my size. Then again, I'm a tiny person. Today, there was a crap load of True Religion jeans for 100 bucks and usually it goes for 200. I was tempted, of course, and took 2 pairs with me to try on. After standing in the dressing room for 15 minutes, I decided to save my money. Odd of me. There's a good selection of designers from Michael Kors to BCBG to brands that you'll find at the mall for probably 50 to 75 percent off. To me, the best part in coming here is browsing through everything. Sure, I spend at least 1 hour in here. Maybe that's excessive but I have nothing else to do. The men's clothes are decent. There's some polo shirts from Ralph Lauren for 20 bucks cheaper. I tell my Dad to come here to shop since he loves polo shirts but he'd rather go to Macys and spend more money. Whatever. The shoe selection is decent. I think the selection at Ross has more than at TJ but TJ has better designers. Your choice. I did buy a yoga mat and a dumbbell kit for $15. I just used it and the quality is very good. I bet this will be the last time that I'll use it. I'll leave it in the living room so my friends think I work out. There's a lot of really good purses. I saw a Cole Haan purse for 60% off. Dillards had this exact purse for 300 smackaroos. I take a star off because it takes about 10 to 15 minutes waiting in line. I've been here when there was only 1 cashier with 10 people waiting in line. Today, there were 3 cashier and it still took 15 minutes. Odd. read more

TJ Maxx it has great brands, and great prices. Contrary to what most people think most of their merchandise is current season and not at all damaged. They have buyers that go and look for over produced merchandise and buy it at a discounted cost. That is why you can find designer stuff for half of the price, discounts are usually 30-60% off. I have found some great deals at TJ Maxx and I have actually see the same items at the mall for full price, crazy right? They have new deliveries every three to four days, big days are usually on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The only drawback to this is if you like something go ahead and get it because once the item is gone its gone. They also carry jewelry and bath and beauty products too if you are into that and they are also name brands that are deeply discounted. read more

I love this TJ Maxx. Went in the other day and totally scored on tons of salon-brand hair stuffs and kitchen gadgets. Yay! I have found some other great deals on shoes, handbags, and belts here too. Electronic stuff, food items (half price Henry and David Chocolate Truffles after Christmas-yum!), and men's section are also very good. They also seem to be expanding their offerings of pet items: they had TIGI-brand doggie wash wipes went I went the other day. Finding clothes here can be difficult as the clothes are organized by very specific clothing categories: for women, there are tank tops, then blouses, then knits, then long-sleeve shirts, jackets, etc. I wish it was organized like Ross where it is basically Tops and Bottoms organized by size, but now that I've kind of graduated to TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack, I can't really go back to Ross. If you've got the time to dig, it is probably worth it, but I usually will opt for going to the mall if I need something specific. If fact, I can't recall ever scoring some great clothing find here. Mostly because of the organization and that it is still had to pay $30+ for a top at a discount retailer. Glad the Rack is across the street to help complete this circuit of more upscale discount stores in Sunset Valley. read more

So this location has good quality items - better than the southeast location in SPM. Like most discount stores, it's hit or miss as to if you find what you're looking for. I've found some really great ladies, men's, baby and dog items here. The three stars is for the customer service. There is almost always a super long line...even in the middle of the week during the day. I've repetitively run into staff members who are incredibly rude. Last week it was a manager. It's a shame since TJ Maxx has so much potential. Just be prepared to wait awhile to checkout here. read more

If I had to judge this place by my experience I had with the fitting room attendant then it would be negative stars. Stopped in here a week before Christmas with my boyfriend looking to picking up a couple things before a Christmas trip. We grabbed a couple items to try on and head back to the dressing room. Once we arrive, we are greeted by Medusa's second cousin. When I hold my clothes to display that I have three items I would like to try on, I am greeted with a screeching, "You NEED to hang them up there." With that she rolls her eyes to the direction of single hanging rack. After doing so, she sticks a plastic number 3 in my face. I quickly grabbed my items and head to the dressing room. After that experience, when I leave I simply stick the clothes on the returns rack and... RUN! I did not want to deal with her wraith. You know, I understand it's a week before Christmas and your stressed but if you can't handle the stress of the retail world then you shouldn't be working in it. I will be avoiding that dressing room at all costs. read more

While this place has great deals, you have to work really hard to find them and I'm not sure if it's worth it for me! I initially came to TJ Maxx to look for a light-weight suitcase and found one for $79.99 which I thought was an awesome deal! However, when browsing around the clothing department afterwards, I have to admit I was extremely overwhelmed because it was disorganized and messy. They try to put too many clothes out at one time so it's really hard to browse through them. I think you can find the same type of deals/savings at San Marcos so that's what I'll stick to. read more

Last three visits have left me wondering about the manager of this particular store being in the wrong job. Used to be my very favorite store but last three visits have been appalling. Responding to "special VIP early hours" and being first customer in the store were skin care shelves, shoes, clothes completely jumbled, disorganized mess. I was searching for a particular essential oil and spent an hour putting like items together, just to try to find it to no avail. Surprised, as I was 12th person in line, I found the product in the "cow chute" they arrange while waiting. Zero service, not even a friendly nod when passing by sales staff. Shrieking, unintelligible announcements about credit card and most deplorable washroom conditions three times in a row. No excuse for the condition of the store and responsibility rest on management's shoulders. read more

A fan of TJ Maxx for sure! Out of them, Ross, and Homegoods they are my favorite for sure! They are a lot cleaner than most of the Ross stores I have gone to and have the best deals when it comes to the price and quality of the items. I do not really shop for clothes there. Their plus size selections are kind of limited and there is not much of a selection for fashion in that size either. They do though have a great regular women's selection. My mother loves their store for their Calvin Klein clothes. She is a huge fan of his work and can afford it due to TJ Maxx. They have a great selection of jewelry especially when they get some Juicy Contour items! (which of course is one of my favorites!) I also like their purse selection. I do have to say I have an addiction to those pretty french like boxes that they sell that you just happen to put a whole bunch of junk in and try to justify that you need them for your stuff! LOL! Every time I go there, I end up leaving with about $20 bucks worth of boxes and depending on the size that is 5 more boxes in my room that I do not need! They are always clean and the people are nice. What gives them a full 5 stars is that they are one of the few places that still does and allows layways. Not every store as the layway but its nice that I have a bit more leway with the items I want to buy. You only have 30 days to pay it off and pick it up but that still allows me 2 full checks to pay it off which is nice. One of those stores I can't help but shop at all the time. read more

This is really a 2 to 5 star place depending on what day you go & what treasures you find. I think of these type of places as being kinda like garage sales where they take credit cards. Kinda messy with kinda narrow isles but good things can be found. I got some nice jeans last week for $14.99 and my son got a "Gansta" shirt for $11.99 that all his friends are pining after. The good thing about this store is that it is next to Ross, so if you find nothing here you can pop over to Ross for pretty much the same experience. read more

These typees of stores always seem a little unorganized and chaotic, but if your welling to deal with that, you can certainly find some good clothes (and other things) at really reasonable prices! read more

Doesn't have individual dress shoes laces. Belts section size 42 and up. Has dress shirt section but NO DRESS PANTS. If you go to the fitting room expect to be treated as a thief. This place is garbage......save yourself the trouble and try Marshall's and Ross. read more

The quality of products carried is just fine. Prices on certain things appear to be a good deal such as handbags and some shoes. Clothing appears overpriced for such a store - would rather buy directly from other stores on sale. The reason I am giving a two star is that the service is horrible. Specifically about 8 out of 10 times I've come, the line to checkout is soooooooooooo long and sooooooo slow. Even at off-peak shopping times. One of the flaws on this is that they have the cashiers handle both the returns and purchases. Due to the high volume and (apparent) lack of sufficient personnel, they should have one line for customer service to handle returns and the rest for purchases. It would make a much more pleasant experience. Additionally, during high traffic times such as a Saturday early afternoon, they should have many checkout staff, not just 2-3 and a line wrapping all around. Handle these things TJ Maxx Sunset Valley and I'll change my rating. read more
