I've purchased from American Eagle since high school, regularly purchasing essentials like jeans and underwear both in-store and online. However, after this recent experience, I'll never shop with them again--at least not directly. If individuals on second-hand resale sites are selling, absolutely, to be part of a more sustainable clothing practice, but AE has lost my service until it undergoes a major personality shift. I placed an online order using a birthday promo code and opted for store pickup at the Barton Creek Mall location. The order was supposed to be ready by August 6th. That date came and went with no notification or update. I drove to the store--wasting my time and braving heavy crowds--only to be met with apathetic and unhelpful staff. The associate told me the items had shipped but couldn't provide a tracking number or any real support. She offered to cancel the order and help me shop in-store, but that defeated the whole point of ordering online for convenience. After multiple failed attempts to get help from outsourced customer service, I finally canceled the order and placed a new one to be delivered to my apartment. To my shock, American Eagle used DoorDash to deliver the package--without any prior notice. How they couldn't use the normal shipping carriers like UPS, FedEx, or USPS is beyond me. I had to rearrange my entire Saturday to wait at home for a courier, which was incredibly inconvenient and unprofessional for a major retail brand. This entire process--from poor communication to lackluster customer support and an unreliable delivery method--was unacceptable. It's clear AE no longer values its customers or their time. I'll only buy AE items secondhand moving forward. They've lost my business. read more

In My Opinion this was The rudest staff I have ever encountered. Couldn't lift a finger to help find items and they felt like they were doing us a Huge favor when we asked for help.. As the other reviews have mentioned the staff at this location is awesome and so friendly! They're young but very professional and given COVID the store felt safe. read more

Today, I went in for maybe the 10th time in the past two years and receive the worst service yet. When I first moved to South Texas, I frequented the mall during peak hours since I was fairly new. During the peak hours, the store was busy of course, but I believe I received better service while looking for clothes, at the fitting rooms, and at the register. Once I got tired of the packed mall, I started going during the slow hours thinking I'd get even better service. Boy, was I wrong! Two people were working and no one approached me and my boyfriend. We were looking for 2 shirts and pair of pants we found online and could not find someone to help us since the only employee was frequently disappearing to the back or helped someone else who arrived after us. We asked for access to the fitting room and the gentleman did not say a word to us. Once we checked out, he didn't ask if we had a rewards card. We spent well over $100 and we wanted those points! I told him I didn't have the card on me, but could give him my phone number and he hesitated. Usually, the cashier finds me using my phone number but he didn't so he asked for all of my information all over again in order to register another card without telling me what he was doing -I thought he was verifying my info. He gave us our stuff and we left. I looked at my receipt and he didn't give me the points at all! He gave someone else the points or at least the new card he created! I have a unique last name so, how could he have not found me when other cashiers in San Antonio, Dallas, and San Marcos could have? I didn't go back to complain because we were in a rush to get home, but I did get online and added my points just now. I still don't know why there was only one person working the front. To the guy at AE: Be kinder, we would have spent more money if it weren't for your lack of help. You could have helped my boyfriend find his clothes while I shopped on the other side. The people here are always nice when I return something I ordered online that just doesn't fit. On the weekends it gets pretty messy, with clothes heaped on tables. It might take some time to fin someone to let you into a dressing room. But overall, the check out experience is most important to me and the cashiers are always happy to help. read more

I stopped by the mall to try to find some khaki slacks for work and ended up at American Eagle after the Nordstrom and the Gap failed me. They had khaki pants on sale for $29.99, but didn't have my size. I needed the 'short' length, and they only had regulars and longs. Randall, the manager, tried to look up any other locations in Austin that might have them. After no luck, he went online. He was able to order me two pairs of pants (tan and navy) in the size I needed and got them at the store sale price and with free shipping. The pants arrived in the mail about 5 days later, and although they fit perfectly, I was relieved that if they didn't work, all I had to do was return them to the store. I love this kind of attentiveness and customer service. Some unprofessional or lazy sales people would have just turned me away with no problem. I have a hard time finding a pair of jeans that look as good on as they do on the rack but American Eagle nails it every time! They have great costumer service and are always willing to help me find the right size and fit. In fact, their cloths and atmosphere are so good that they are practically the only place I shop at, and I personally love the way that their jeans look and feel so much that they are the only place I will by shorts and pants from.
