Had a battery put in my car on February 4, 2025. Last Friday the battery was dead (after just 6 months). Had a new battery put in by a service center in Oradell, NJ. Was told the battery from TJ Tire & Auto Center had a bad cell. The mechanic gave me the bad battery to bring back to TJ's to get reimbursed. TJ's claims the battery is not from his shop! How can he deny this when I have an invoice stating he put in the battery. Needless to say I did not get my money back. He is not trustworthy. BEWARE! read more

I've been coming to this place for a while now and brought all my cars and my friends cars also. I have a Mercedes-Benz G63 and S63 AMG Jose is a very cool and honest guy he will fix your cars in an honest way and not over charge you. I'm always afraid taking my cars to a none dealer and I usually take my Mercedes-Benz to a dealer but they are the worst. They will look for things thats not even suppose to be fix and over charge you. So when I started coming here I never went back to a dealer. Jose and he's crew will fix your car with no hesitations and they will do it most of the time in a day or less that's how quick they are. I was so blown away every time I come here. WARNING: my rating for this shop is 0 stars! this shop managed to change the oil on my sisters car twice without changing the oil filter. That's enough to let you know what kind of mechanics they have and what kind of business they operate if you aren't familiar with cars. I came to get my sisters cars oil serviced a third time (because my mechanic was out of town) and they tried to do it again. After her car was jacked, with the oil drained, they tried to service it again without the filter being replaced and when I called them out for it they told me that they don't have that filter. They said all they can do is try to "clean it" I told them to call their parts distributor to bring the $5 filter over. After 2 hours for an oil change, that they advertise as "10min oil and filter change", my car was finished and serviced. I was late to work because of them and very kindly told the people working the desk that I cannot pay full price after this service and instead of negotiating a price I was threatened and told I will not get my keys to my vehicle until the money was paid. I get that some places might be overwhelmed with the pandemic but a simple response was all I was asking for. The owner, Jose, is an honest person. I had trouble starting my van. Thought it could be the battery, starter or alternator but when Jose called me back he said the ground wire was the issue and repaired the car for a nominal price. He could have easily taken advantage of the situation and I would have never know or suspected it. If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic then I highly recommend this place. read more

José and his team are great. José is my trusted local mechanic -- honest, fast, affordable, reliable. I have counted on them for many quick and easy oil changes. They once quickly fixed a slow leak in a tire for super cheap instead of replacing it. José checked out used vehicles for me this summer and saved me from a bad one -- he found a tiny oil leak and alerted me that while it would be a cheap part, labor would make it an expensive fix, given what had to come out to get to it. And he gave the thumbs up on my current pre-owned, which we love. During the used car checks, they got me in and out fast, and charged 1/2 the price of a mechanic I had called near a car dealer in NYC. (It's worth noting the racism/xenophobia in a couple of bad reviews...sounds like the issues there may be in the hearts of the customers!) read more

First time coming here and was very Impressed! Had a slow leak in my front tire. I pulled in without an appointment and as soon as I got out of my car, Alex, one of the mechanics was there to help me. I explained that I had a slow leak, and he immediately jacked up my car, took off the tire, found a small nail, plugged the leak and had the tire back on in less than 10 mins. Horrible expeirence with this business. I had to call the cops to try to get a resolution. They are not trusworthy. They lied to me about the materials they used on a brand new $90,000 car stating he added stainless steel when they used regular metal. It is already rusting, stainless steel clearly does not rust. The job was completed on November 10. I advise for people who care about truthworthy shops to avoid this one. read more

When it comes to my car, I'm very picky, and I normally avoid places that look like this. However, after seeing the good reviews, I figure I'd give it a shot and support a local business. I went in because I had a screw stuck in a tire. They removed the screw and had it plugged up for me within 7 minutes. They got me in and out quicker than it would have taken me to just drive the dealer or a chain store like Firestone; the price was very fair, and the 3 people I interacted with were all friendly. While my review may only be for a simple quick job, this experience would have me try them out again if I were to have a mechanical issue in the future. It's also nice to support a local business, especially since the staff is friendly and helpful. 11/16/15 update - I decided to try this place again for an oil change. I stopped by without an appointment, but they still got me in and out pretty quickly. No complaints. It cost me about $40 or so for 5w20 synthetic blend. 05/31/16 update - I have now used this place for two repairs. One was to repair the exhaust, and the other was a replacement of a leaking radiator. I continue to very happy with this shop. The guys that work there seem great, the prices are very reasonable, and I have had no problems at all with the work. I continue to recommend this shop for all your repair and maintenance needs. read more

I let them know what I think is the issue and then ask them to call me after they look it over to discuss issues and pricing. Jose always calls me back in a timely manner to discuss issues, solutions, and pricing. Nothing but professional, high quality service. Lied about ordering runflats, had me drive 1hour to get them put on, when I had other places offer much lower when i get there they are regular tires not even runflats and all of a sudden the tires boost up 400 additional. I have a Mini Cooper 2012 and up until recently, I only brought my car to the Prestige Mini dealership for servicing.  When I had to get the front brakes replaced, they charged $390. And then, they tried to give me another quote for rear brakes and a "leak" that would cost another $660!  After that, I decided to look elsewhere. TJ's is closest to where I live and the next thing I needed to do was replace my tires.  I called up Jose - the owner - and gave him the tire model I wanted and he ordered them right away.  When I arrived to have them swapped on my car, we discovered I had given him the wrong tire size (totally my fault).  Jose was beyond understanding and said he would order the right size for me - didn't even charge me for the hassle.  The cost for the tires & labor was competitive with any other place and, most importantly, I left feeling confident in the work they had done and knowing I hadn't gotten ripped off. UPDATE My check engine light has been on and off for the last few weeks.  And, my rear brakes needed replacing.  I called up Jose, they ran a diagnostics test and explained the thermostat housing and/or sensor was not responding correctly.  He explained it would be a few hundred bucks to replace the housing, I asked if it was possible to wait and see if this was just a fluke (sometimes air or steam can get trapped and prevent the sensor from responding properly he said).  Jose didn't pressure me to jump right into the repair and said it was totally fine to wait but also explained what I needed to look out for to be safe.  They then went on to replace the rear brakes for almost half the price of what Prestige charged - and in an hour (Prestige took several hours). In short, I love TJ's.  I will be coming back here time and again.  Jose is a hands on, honest business owner with knowledge that you can rely on.  And, his mom (who works the register) is the sweetest. read more

tl;dr: I love TJ's. BEST. PLACE. EVER. A few years ago, I got into my first accident and my car started making a weird sound. I brought it to a mechanic who told me to leave the car and he'd fix it. A few days later, I picked it up, paid money, and left. Then the car started making a weird sound again. I brought it back to the same mechanic 3 times who repeatedly lied to me and told me that he had "fixed it" when in fact, he DIDN'T. Then I decided to drop by TJ's since it was in my neighborhood and they figured out what the problem was RIGHT AWAY. Jose, the owner, is a genuine guy. They are accommodating with your schedule, they know what they're doing, and best of all they're economical. 5 years, 4 cars later, I have no regrets. Even though I moved and it's farther, I still bring my car here for everything (even oil changes). I've been to many different mechanics, and this place is by far the best. Bring your car to TJ's! I strongly suggest you do t bring your car here. I brought my civic for timing belt replacement and the prices were fairly cheap. I bought my own aftermarket belts and asked them to replace it. They did not. I had to take it to another shop where they were able to show me the original Honda belts. These guys are very dishonest. Also, I needed a slight paint job on my front bumper. They told me they can do it. I believed them. They called me a day later bc they left the paint on too long and messed up my hood when the job was on the front bumper. They fixed it but the colors did not match. They do not know what they are doing. After they finished the "job" I took it to work and on the way I noticed that the car temp had gone to the top. They forgot to add coolant. I called the guy he said if you have a water bottle just put water in replacement of the coolant. I couldn't believe it. I'm glad I found another shop. I'll never go back and I strongly recommend if you care about your car to take else where. You might save a couple bucks here but not worth it. read more
