I don't even know where to start but I will say this stay as far away as possible from these guys Crooks unbelievable called them about engine problems the guy said no problem I'm gonna come out to your location take a look next thing you know he grabs my car brings it to his shop with his tow truck never did I ask him to do that because I am a AAA member Calls me a couple hours later and tell me my Engine needs to get replaced gives me a price I agree with it price was exactly what everybody else was quoting me reason I went with him number one was because my car was already there and he was telling me no more than two weeks like everybody else was I told him how important it is to get the car back as soon as possible This is the only car my family has and they're going to rent a car for the next two weeks So time was the most important thing for us the guy said he understands. Couple days later he calls me tells me he got the engine they're gonna start working on it in a couple days I said no problem tells me it's actually cheaper than what he thought I said you know what is the price you gave me a price I'm cool with paying that even if you got the Engine cheaper calls me back about a week later to tell me all the engine is no good at this point he's has the car for about two weeks now. I said OK sir no problem what is the next step he said I'm gonna have to return it maybe that guy has another one I said OK can you please start looking for a different engine just in case he does not have another one so we could get the bold rolling ' once again very important I am renting a car for $50 a day at this point I A few days go by I don't hear anything back from him I start giving him a call he starts ignoring me nobody knows anything at the shop even though my car is sitting at the shop but no one knows anything. At this point I've already given him $3000 $1900 on a card $1000 cash. Finally at your back from him he says I'm gonna start looking for an engine so another week goes by and the guy disappears again for about a week and a half at this point my car's been sitting there for about five weeks with no end results in sight Finally we got we go back to the shop and tell them if something doesn't happen soon And we don't hear from them we're going to file a police report and Sue The next morning the guy texted me with a text message saying your car is at the place where I picked it up from without any notice just drops it off now I'm six weeks into renting a car $3100 in back to point a Car sitting in front of my house broken down and now to fix the car it's going to cost me another 5000 on top of the 3100 hours that I spent in renting a car plus another two weeks now I'll be sitting and waiting to get a new engine installed because that's what every shop told me so it's going to cost me around $10,000 to replace the engine because these guys truly messed up double the price 5000 for the engine and 5000 renting a car for two months because of their incompetence. I did get a refund on my card of $1900 but from the $1000 I got $100 back from that and the reason for that is they said was the towing 10 miles from my house to his shop and then dropping it off back at my house when I never asked him to do any of that because once again I'm a AAA member read more

About the business: "AAA preferred auto repair & road service provider" I used this business through AAA and had the absolutely worst experience ever. They were unprofessional, lacked communication, and overall had awful customer service. I never received phone calls from the drivers. They kept marking my requests as "complete" without actually completing the request and never even called to let me know what was happening. Companies who partner with AAA are supposed to be reliable and trustworthy. When customers put in requests we are trusting that our car is in good hands. When I called AAA for assistance, they were baffled by this companies service and even advised me to put in a complaint to AAA partnerships. Overall, I would not recommend this business. read more

I remain confused as to why this repair shop has some low reviews. I already posted once and now I am posting again. I am not related to or even friends with anyone at this shop. I have been going here since the original owner Jim owned the shop. He was great and trustworthy. I worried so much when he sold this shop!! However, Dan has now become the owner and my worries are gone. Dan is a hard working patient kind and HONEST guy. I have real medical issues in my home and have a hard time even getting to the shop. Dan takes all the worry off of my mind. Today was just another one of those days and so I am reminded to post again here I hate to say it but typically repair shops are as sleazy as car salesmen BUT is NOT NOT NOT the case here. Today they serviced my 2015 SX4 Suzuki for unknown would not start reasons. Weekend problems included locked in gear, battery down, wouldn't start, check engine light on, etc. Only explanation is everything was dead. We jumped started battery, started it every day w/o problem but nagging problem was "What if?" Teaneck Shell ran a diagnostic computer check, cleaned battery terminals, checked car from front to back. After several hours in the shop nothing could be found. To my amazement there was no charge. Who does that! This service station will now have all our business; I'm posting this on Yelp and sharing this review will all my family and friends and their friends. The owner apologized and offered to pay me for having my car serviced which was a lie...he reneged on his offer and isn't willing to take any responsibility for his negligence. read more

I've been using Teaneck Shell since 2010. For the last 5 years I have enjoyed nothing but the best service on my (now wrecked) '99 VW GTI, my wife's '07 CRV and my '13 VW TDI. That last car is under warrantee yet I still have the shop work on it when I don't wish to put up with the typical dealership nonsense. Jim and his team of mechanics have all been professional and accommodating. They troubleshoot bugs instead of throwing parts at them and will often come out to "have a look" without charge. When service has been required they have always fit us in and finished at the promised hour. read more

My experience with Teaneck Shell was pretty great. Had an issue with my car basically convulsing on the highway at 11:30 at night and AAA sent a tow truck to have it towed to the nearest service station which happened to me Teaneck Shell. The next morning, Chuck looked at the car, identified the issue immediately (negligence on the part of my Brooklyn mechanic) and was thus able to have the car ready for driving within a couple of hours. Recently, my car wouldn't start and got towed to Teaneck Shell. Obviously, I didn't have an appointment, but Dan and the team took the time to work on the car. After telling me that it would need a new alternator, Dan spent some more time inspecting and called me with the great news. "Instead of an $800 alternator, it just had a loose cable. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Went in to get four new tires..took them three full days to mount the tires! I asked them to check my suspension because I had a loose strut mount or sway bar link. I got my tires but 2 mins after driving off I was hearing a clunking noise so I brought it back the next day. I asked if the mechanic looked at my suspension and the office manager, Alison, said everything was fine. I questioned that because your car doesn't make a clunking noise for no reason...she refused for me to speak to the mechanic!! A few days later noticed a wobble and a vibration at 55-60 mph (clear sign of a balancing issue) Took my car back and spoke with the manager JIm. The minute I walk in he said he was very clear that I cannot return my tires, he said " once they're on, they're on!" Meanwhile the tire company clearly states that I have a 45 day return warranty for any reason!I We were discussing what could cause the issue and he said i could be my transmission, I disagreed stating that there is nothing with with my transmission. Then in a nasty tone he said, " Are YOU a mechanic??" I said I'll come back and his response was, " don't bother coming back" So basically he threw me out!! I Just came back from another shop and they said Shell never balanced my tires!! Also, I went to another a mechanic, an honest one, and questioned how Shell align my car with a broken, and it was clearly broken, sway bar link! I paid $550 for tires I don't like, extremely horrific customer service from EVERYONE at Teaneck Shell is the worst I have ever encountered! I swear if I were able to curse on Yelp I would! Ironically the manager Alison was the same person from my previously bad experience at Taki Motots....I am fighting with my credit card company to make them refund my money! Even with the warranty the shop refused to give me a return! Plus I had to pay an extra $70 for Mavis to balance my tires! read more
