As a service member, I am appalled with the overall experience and service with G.I. Junkers. Not…read moreonly did they NOT complete a major portion of the job we initially contracted and paid them to do, they cut every corner (leaving the home borderline unsafe), and essentially abandoned the project. Additionally, they had the audacity to hand us a makeshift excel bid/estimate which basically said "you owe us another 10,000.00," without any true explanation. Their so called "owners" refused to produce any documentation, change orders, or a break down of where our money went. They didn't return phone calls for days, left tens of texts unanswered, and never met with us in person when it came time to "settle up." I am in the process of ensuring that NO VETERAN or SERVICE MEMBER will ever have to experience what we went through. These guys are fraudulent, borderline criminal. The list goes on. Absolutely DO NOT consider G.I Junkers for any project you may have; especially if you have any appreciation for the core beliefs which exist within the military. I don't even think these guys could handle installing a light bulb properly at this point. And if they did... they would hand you an estimate for $ 2.50, and then send you a bill for $ 25,000.00, while threatening to place a lien on your first home. Over the course of two months, G.I. and its 1099 crew spent an approximate 10-14 days total working on a home remodel. They hired subcontractors who charged thousands of dollars more to complete jobs on the bid that had been proposed and did so without informing the homeowner. The original bid was priced at roughly $40k, with a $25k personal bank check given to G.I. weeks before the job started. As of today, the homeowner has learned that NO-ONE has been paid out of that $25k, to include G.I.'s own crew and subcontractors. The homeowner is now looking at spending an additional $30k to pay everyone that provided services to their residence. G.I. Junkers is a sorry excuse for a 'veteran owned' company. Avoid the owners, Shawn Alex Walter and Anthony Wagenknecht for ANY of your handyman needs.

I was moving apartments within Portland, and I requested a quote via Yelp from Ground to Crown…read more Magdalene called me SEVEN minutes after I got in touch, and gave me all the information I needed in a clear and detailed manner. On the day of the move-out clean, my schedule got super screwed up by the movers, and because moving day is, as a universal rule, absolute garbage, I knew in my heart I was going to be unable to return to the apartment in time to meet the Ground to Crown crew, and they wouldn't be able to clean it, and basically, everything was going to go to hell and argghhh. So I called Magdalene, stressing, and she immediately (and very kindly) postponed my cleaning by 4 hours. No arguing, or hiking up the price, or calling me names, or canceling the cleaning and keeping my deposit? Whaaaa? Anyway, the people who came to clean were Veronica and Leo, and they were efficient, friendly, and very thorough. The best part is that they took a bajillion before and after photos, so if my landlord tries to hold onto part of my security deposit by claiming this or that was messed up or filthy and I happen to disagree, Magdalene has time-stamped photos that she saves. Seriously, the day started off with my pet sitter canceling at the last minute so I had to have my dogs on leashes while the movers did their thing, and then one of my dogs escaped his harness and ran into morning rush-hour traffic while I waited for the moving truck (someone grabbed him before he got hit or got too far, thank god), and things actually went DOWNHILL from there with the mover (I'll leave a 1-star review of Budget Movers after this; check it out if you want your mind blown), and I was so fried by 11 AM I didn't know how I was going to get through the cleaning. Somehow, Ground to Crown took a moving day that sucked compared to other moving days and made it pleasant. That's a feat.
