I dropped my PC off and was told 2-3 days for a diagnostic. Four days later, I went in to check the status. I was met with excuses as to why the work wasn't done, and asked to have my PC returned to me. I was refused. The jackass in the picture was the low-brow individual I had to deal with. Nonsense insults were hurled at me the entire time. He said that he could "kick my ass", and threatened to throw a TV down the stairs at me (see picture 2!). Then, when the police arrived, he told them I had assaulted him. I captured the entire interaction on video and was quickly able to prove him wrong. I did not receive my computer back until 6 days despite being told this would take 2-3. Get a work ethic, get your shit together, and learn to act professional. read more

Took old gaming desktop in for diagnostics - suspected I knew what the problem was, but wanted confirmation before I replaced the parts. The good: -They made the right diagnosis. -The Diagnostics were not expensive ($50.00) -The quoted price for parts was reasonable, close to or at cost. -The techs were responsive to requests for update, and one of them seemed genuinely excited in talking about my build -Gave me a 50% discount on the required cleaning The bad: - Insisted on cleaning the system and charging me $40.00 for it before they began diagnostics. - It took 16 days for what I'm pretty sure is a fairly straightforward troubleshoot. Most of this was due to their current backlog, which they warned me about in advance, but it still ran an entire week over their original estimate. - Wanted to charge $40.00x2 to install new RAM and a video card (these are trivial installations that most people can do at home in under an hour). I was unwilling to pay that price for the installation, so I ordered the parts online and installed them myself. System is now up and running again. Overall, I'd say they're like a quality and trustworthy mechanic. They charge what might be a bit more than you want, but they were both competent and honest and got to the heart of the problem. read more

I went to TK Iowa to see if they could do better than what I could do on my own. They charged me $95 to tell me what I already knew, and could not save the computer. So I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows on my own. They charged me $25 to pull one folder (albeit a big one) off of my hard drive. I was thankful for the files but thought it was quite expensive - $120 - for one folder of files. read more

I arrived at Cedar Rapids Airport on a Friday morning with a laptop that had ceased to function during my trip. I needed it desperately, in order to do work while in Iowa City over the weekend. Called a couple of places, and TK Iowa actually answered their phone - good start. Matt spoke with me and advised me to bring it to them (but couldn't promise anything until they did diagnostics). I left it off with them, hoping that I MIGHT get it back working before the weekend was over. Their tech got right on it, and Matt called me a couple of hours later, to tell me that they had gotten it working again. I was lucky that a major part wasn't needed, or it might not have turned out this way. But TK Iowa's willingness to attend quickly to a traveler's computer emergency speaks highly of them and their diligence. I have had a custom built computer for 3 years and in the last year started to have problems. I took my computer to multiple computer shops including Best Buy's Geek Squad and nothing compares to the expertise and quality of TK IOWA. I had a failing processor that nobody seemed to tell me about until I took it to TK IOWA. Matt was quick to access the problem and gave me solutions, including which new processor to order.
