my experience with the mac doctor was not very good.. I had it installed on my imac and was using it for approximately 6 months. One morning I turned on my iMac and got nothing but a black screen.seeing as how the closest Apple store was over 200 miles away I took it to a local ITT repair shop. My first computer, in 1984, was an Apple MacIntosh. I had always taken pride in finding the answers to my computer questions myself until I had a stroke. Then, in 2008, when I needed help in getting those answers, I met Scott. For me, he was a miracle computer doctor. Over the years when I had purchased new computers, Scott transferred the data from the old computer to the new one. He made sure that the software and data were ok and ready to go. Always, his work was perfect. On several occasions, when I misplaced or lost data, Scott found it and organized it so I would not lose it again. In one instance, the external hard drive, which I loaded with Time Machine, just quit. Not only did Scott set up the brand-new hard drive, but he took the old hard drive home, temporarily got it working, and retrieved the data. Router problems? My wife and I had plenty. Scott came over and made recommendations which we followed, and, "Wa-Lah," problems were solved. My wife and I had plenty of printer problems. Scott always had the right call whether to go to the System Preferences and add or delete printers, to share printers so we can print on each other's printer, or to simply say "Trash It." When I have had email problems concerning lost passwords, receiving mail, or sending mail, Scott helped with it all. His slogan is "This Doctor Still Makes House Calls." Amen, I say to that! "The Mac Doctor" is a man named Scott. His website is "themacdoctor.net". On his website he has the apple logo and he says that he is a "Certified Support Professional." If you think that this makes him authorized to fix your Mac computer, which I did, you'd be wrong, just like I was. I hired the mac doctor to transfer my data from a back up drive to my new macbook pro after my old macbook crashed. To sum it up simply, working with him was a disaster from start to finish. He's also a liar, but I'll get to that later. Again, please realize that a certified support professional, which he claims he is, is not an "Apple Authorized Service Provider." If this guy opens your apple computer to change the hard drive, or if he opens it up for any reason, he voids your apple warranty. When I hired him, I thought he was an "Apple Authorized Service Provider," but he's not. He transferred my data over the course of a few hours, and did an ABYSMAL JOB. This was at the end of september 2018 about two months ago. He left me with permissions problems galore. Like I cannot access certain of my files, including my itunes. I couldn't access anything microsoft without putting my authorization code in it everytime I tried to open a file. A computer savvy friend looked at what this guy did and declared it to be FUBAR. That means F'ed Up Beyond Recognition. I didn't know what that meant, but now I do. Scott did not use the Migration Assistant which is the apple program one is supposed to use, to transfer the data, and he gave some song and dance about why his way was better than the migration assistant. He dragged and dropped my files. I just got off the phone with an Apple Senior Advisor who works out of Apple headquarters in california. I spoke with him for almost 40 minutes. He told me that the reason that I'm having such issues is because dragging and dropping files, which the mac doctor did, simply does not work. What I'm going to have to do is take my old backup drive to the genius bar along with all of my new files on a thumbdrive. The genius' at the bar will then erase my new computer and reload the old backup onto the new computer, and I'll have to add the new documents etc. onto the computer myself. That is the only way they can be certain that his godawful mess will be fixed. The mac doctor charges $160/per hour. which is an outrageous amount. I've never had a bad computer guy before him, and I've never paid more than $60-75 per hour. and these were people who knew what they were doing. If someone charges $160 an hour you expect a high level of expertise, but with him, its just smoke and mirrors. Again, he doesn't have the authorization to work on your mac and if he opens it up, he voids your warranty. He knew that I had massive permissions problems when he left. He told me to call microsoft and get them to fix it. then he told me to let him know what they said. I gave him a check for $320 for 2 hours work. We texted back and forth and he knew that I was not happy. He texted me the following, and this is verbatim, because I still have the text, "As a sign of good faith I have destroyed this check...Would you like picture proof?" Well, guess what, he recently cashed the check he purported to have destroyed. I've warned Apple about him and am contacting their legal department because he's not authorized to use the apple trademark icon on his web page. read more

I rely on my laptop for my job. My fan started running all the time and my computer was very hot. I could not go long without my laptop but I knew that it was in great need of repair. I found the Mac Doctor (Scott) online after doing a brief search. I called other repair services who said it would take several weeks to get it in and do an assessment, and they would not give me an estimate for a new fan. Scott was wonderful. He listened to my concerns about privacy (let's be honest here... our entire lives are on our computers) and the need to get my computer back as soon as possible. He offered to meet me in my county (I do not live in Johnson County) to speed up the process. He had my computer back to me in less than 24 hours and the cost was less than expected! He explained everything up front and also again when I picked it back up. I highly recommend The Mac Doctor for all Apple repairs. read more
