They just want more of the patient's money, they don't care as much about quality of work. The dentist and assistant were nice, but the front desk is like a hostage situation. I've learned not to use a dental or medical office that is run by a business. A practice owned and run by the dentist or doctor will be much easier to deal work. There is more leeway to adjust the prices and procedures, if the work warrants it. read more

Appointment was at 2 waited for 1.5 hours before being called then sat in the dental chair for another 25 minutes before the dentist even came to see me for a consultation. My Dentist Dr. Jacobson was not available, and I was seen by another Dentist who suggested that I needed a root canal and a deep cleaning. However, for the Root canal, I was required to visit their other location at 3100 Commercial Blvd, that was not a problem, since my previous Root Canal was taken care of at that location. The issue was that the Orthodontist at 3100 wanted me to have my crown removed at the Tamarac office, then travel to their location; and upon completion of the Root canal go back to the Tamarac location and have the crown re-installed. I refused to walk around without a crown and travel back and forth, when in my previous Root Canal it was all taken care of 3100 Commercial Blvd. In addition, I was never informed during my initial visit that I needed to replace a crown until I phoned in to make an appointment. Furthermore, Dr Jacobson was advised of my situation, and he personally called me to advise that he was going to call the dentist at 3100 and have him perform the work at his location instead of my having to travel back and forth without a crown. When I called to confirm my appointment at 3100, I was advised that I needed to be there without a crown. Was this a case where the one team member was not notified, or that the left did not know what the right was doing? Was I required to walk around without a crown for one day, or multiple days? and who was going to pay me for my time, going back and forth? What ever happened to common sense? George M. read more

This is actually an update to a previous review. The preview was removed after I spoke with the owner and he accommodate due to the poor service I experienced. I have waited to write a new review to see if the previous visits were just a fluke. After my poor experience I've been back twice this being the third time. I must say the hygienist I've had has been AMAZING. Her name is Elizabeth snd she is really the ONLY reason I continue to go back. Each time I come back there seems to be something new I'm hit with. This time I was told I had a $5 office visit fee. Instantly I knew this made no sense. I've been there on 4 previous visit and at no time has this office visit fee ever been mentioned. Mind you this fee is in addition to the cleaning cost. I asked what the fee was for and I was advised the fee is a charge based on something with my insurance. Now I'm really puzzled, what does my insurance have to do with your office fee. I ask for documents of this so I can call my insurance. This is where knowing what your insurance covers comes in. I have spoken to my insurance on several occasions (dealing with his dental clinic) so I am fully aware of my coverage and how the fees work. At no time has my insurance ever advised about office fees. I waited a few and the front desk reception comes back to advised me the office fee was an error and the fee I was charge the last visit would be credited back to me. I cannot understand how every time I go for my cleaning a new fee or charge is being sprung on me. As I left the office and was waiting on a receipt for today's cleaning, I overheard someone at the front desk speaking with a client. My biggest issue is that the conversation should have been held in a separate room not at the front desk where everyone in the lobby could hear. I basically heard all his dental issues, what the doctor is recommending him to get done and why he "can't" say no to the procedures. Isnt there HIPPA laws when it comes to things like this? I should not be hearing this and would have been upset if this was my information being disclosed to everyone in the room. Secondly I hear them giving him the same excuse why a person can't say no to the procedures or they wont be able to be seen at that location. The biggest excuse they gave him is "the doctor could lose their license if they over look what they want him to get done. This I know for a fact is not true. You can always go to another dentist if one deny you service. If you go to this company make sure you know what your insurance plan covers and how much they can charge. When in doubt ask for a printout with the code and fee so you can run it by your insurance. If you dont have insurance shop around before settling with a cost. Luckily I havent had to have any major work done. The only work I've done has been cleanings and my cleanings have been good. Overall the clinic is ok. As I've said the hygienist I have been seeing is truly amazing. She is very gentle with the cleaning yet gets all the areas cleaned, even my wisdom teeth which are my problem areas. She has given me recommendations on tools to help with those areas. Overall she is just the sweetest. She is a gem to the company and I look forward to coming to her each time. She is the reason for the high stars. Please don't rely solely on my review, do give this place and try and judge for yourself. Maybe you will have a great experience. If you do decide on this clinic I hope you can get her as your hygienist. read more

This would have been my son's 1st visit at the Tamarac location. Instead there was a mix up with the scheduling & my appt was canceled. I did not find out about the cancelation until I was literally on my way to the appt. The young man, Dejuon that I spoke to was very rude, unpleasant, insensitive, & unprofessional. I WOULD NOT recommend the Tamarac location!! I called the Fort Lauderdale location & the young lady, Lakeisha was very helpful! She even offered & called the North Lauderdale location to make an appt since the location was closer to me. read more

Went for a cleaning a year ago. After waiting over an hour, was told I needed over $600 worth of gum work. They refused to clean my teeth unless I submitted to this expensive work. I have gone to the dentist twice a year for 30 years without a "deep" $$$$ cleaning. I really dislike "chain" dental offices after this experience. I had issues with TLC Dental in Tamarac a few years ago and posted my review here. The owner saw it and contacted me and the issue was finally resolved. He was apologetic and very professional in his handling of our problem. Since that time, there have been a few hiccups, but nothing that warranted a review...until yesterday. A few months ago my husband had his implant put in. While he was there, the dentist noticed a small cavity in the adjacent tooth and filled it. We greatly appreciated that as it eliminated an additional visit and him taking more time off from work. Last month that filling fell out so I made an appointment for my husband to come in and have it refilled. My husband arrives at TLC Dental yesterday and the front office staff tells him our dental insurance is no longer active AND that he is only scheduled for a cleaning! I get on the phone with my Human Resources department and they confirm that our insurance is in fact, active. I call TLC back to confirm our insurance status, only to be met with a woman who is telling me that we are no longer patients at TLC and they are calling the cops on my husband because he insulted them, cursed (the F bomb) and hit the door on his way out. He got home and we sat on the front porch waiting for the police to arrive...next day and still waiting. My husband also informed me that a woman in the waiting room was complaining that she had been waiting for over 40 minutes as well as another gentleman that walked out with my husband and stated that "this place is terrible and I will never come back here." Was my husband wrong..absolutely, and he acknowledges that. But time and time again, these issues with scheduling, insurance, and what procedure they say you are there for vs. what you actually made an appointment for, become exhaustive and extremely frustrating. read more

I had a busted tooth that last year. Long story short, ended up with an implant and 2 crowns. I had another cracked tooth on the other side but was out of insurance so needed to wait till the new year for insurance to resist. To get this work done I started at Coral Springs office, got referred to surgeon in Ft. Lauderdale that only works on one day a week so getting appointments is an issue. To get my follow-Ups I had to bounce between Coral Springs and Tamarac offices. All in all 8 visits to get 1 implant and 2 crowns. Fast forward to this week (8 months) since the last work. One of the crowns breaks and the cracked tooth on the other side is now broken. Go in they pull the broken crown out and tell me the tooth is not salvageable and I need surgery again. So I have a broken tooth with exposed roots on one side and a sore, broken tooth on the other. I ask what we are going to do? I'm giving a referral to the MD in Ft. Lauderdale for the tooth extract under the broken crown. They can get me in about 2 months, even though I now can't eat anything solid. When I tell them it's unacceptable they refer me to someone not in their group how could get me in immediately. I ask about the other broken tooth, they tell me we will deal with that at a comprehensive exam that I will need to schedule. I asked what this visit was then??? The two dentist I saw less than a year ago are no longer with the practice. This group is all about making money, telling you you need expensive procedures, routing you all over the country and expect to make a hundred visits to get anything done. There is something systemically wrong if they are turning over dentists that fast. Don't trust them they are all about the money not the patient. read more

Do not go to this office! Staff is very unprofessional and more worried about playing around instead of getting your insurance verified. All they had to do was pick up the phone and it was done. I was in extreme pain and was told they can not help I need to go to another office and they will call the next day. NO call! My Insurance includes a free cleaning, but this office will not do a regular cleaning for me. They contend that I need a deep cleaning around a bridge. I disagreed but they refused to do the regular cleaning. Prices are otherwise reasonable. I liked my dentist, she just did a $1000 crown. But, I am moving on to a office that leaves me in charge. read more

The office staff is inept and rude. I went in for an appointment i made two weeks ago and there was an issue with my insurance which is not a big deal but if they did their job correctly i would have known about this ahead of time. Instead i find out at the time of service and i expressed my frustration and this idiot took offense to my comment "this should have been caught before i got here" and yes i said it with the tone of this is frustrating because now i have to do all of this on my phone. The idiot then proceeds to deny me service! I asked him if he was serious and he said i would not get service there. I think this person has pretty thin skin or maybe he was having a bad day because this could have been worked out with some good customer service. So in my opinion the front office staff at the Tamarac location is inept and rude and should be revamped to bring in people with some empathy. I wish I could take away stars for this review. Making an appointment was such a hassle to start with. Once we finally got in to see the dentist, the experience got worse! I had been visiting the same dentist for almost a decade and have had 2 cavities in that time. We had a change on our insurance and our dentist does not take it, so we came across TLC Dental and really regretted it. On our first visit, both my wife and I were told that we had deep pockets in our gums and would need a deep cleaning to resolve that. I was in the chair and the dentist was naming out numbers from 1-4 when checking my gums. He finished and was shocked that there were no 5s. He went back and changed some 3s to 5s (which are the deep pockets requiring the deep cleaning). I was also told that I have an alarming amount of bone loss and a major cavity. My last visit to the old dentist was 7 months prior for a cleaning and none of this was mentioned to me, so I was suspicious of these new "problems" that were presented to me. At this point, I was left alone in the room for a solid 30 minutes while a treatment plan was being made (I'm still under the impression at this point that a cleaning would be taking place, so I waited patiently). This room also had a flickering light which was causing me quite the headache. Someone walked in with my treatment plan and made a comment about how annoying that light must be. I responded by asking if I could go into another room while waiting for the cleaning because of the headache it was causing and was told no, I would "have to deal with it". Meanwhile, the treatment plan presented had an enormous amount of work on it which would require me to pay out of pocket for because the insurance wouldn't cover it all. I had suspected that the "problems" were not as serious as they made it out to be, so I requested to not have the deep cleaning done, just the regular one covered by my insurance. Again, I was left alone in room with the flickering light for some time before the dentist came back in and insisted that the work was necessary. I again refused it and requested the regular cleaning. He told me he could not give me the regular cleaning as it would do no good and left me alone with the flickering light again. At this point, I've been in the room for more than 90 minutes total before I was greeted again by a treatment plan. This is when I discovered that even if I were to pay for the deep cleaning, my appointment was only for the exam and not a cleaning. THEY REQUIRED ME TO SIT IN A ROOM WITH A FLICKERING LIGHT WHILE A TREATMENT PLAN WAS BEING MADE, WHEN I COULD HAVE JUST SPENT THE TIME IN THE WAITING ROOM SINCE THERE WAS NO INTENTION FOR A CLEANING TO BE DONE THAT DAY! I walked out of the office and will never set foot in there again. My biggest regret is not getting the name of the only bright spot in the office. She is the person who took me back to the room and took the x-rays. Every other person in that office seemed incompetent, rude and only cared about ways to get more money out of the patients. Since this terrible experience back in December, I have gone to a different dentist, shared my experience with them and had them check for the "deep pockets, alarming bone loss and major cavity". I made an appointment for my 15 year daughter at TLC dental in Tamarac a few days ago. After the doctor's exam I was told she had 3 cavities that would cost $595. I then made an appointment to take care of it but I was very bothered by the price, after speaking with several friends decided to call my insurance Aetna DMO. I told the representative what I was quoted by TLC. Candie my Aetna rep called TLC spoke with an Elizabeth. My rep then told me my charges was covered at a a 100% only if I chose to upgrade it would be $46 for 2 teeth which would then make my visit $97 including my $5 office visit charge. I deceiced to cancell my appointment with TLC and report the fraud that they were trying to do. Please make sure to. I went there for a cleaning and x-rays. After my x-rays I suddenly felt a blow to the top of my head. The arm of the x-ray machine fell on me. I had a lump and my scalp bled. After I asked for ice They told me there was no first aid kit. This was incredible. I was hurt and all the assistant said was that she was sorry but it wasn't her fault and that she had also gotten hurt previously with this machine. At least she had an ice pack in her purse. This needs to be fixed. And I also had to call 2x just for them to call my pharmacy with a prescription. It is definitely not a TLC experience.
