I love, love, love the staff here! Kristin and Steph make my day every time. I rarely get to actually see Sarah, their groomer, because she is always busy but I love her too! She does a great job with my Miniature Schnauzer mix, Lucy, every time! Dr. Lucas is an awesome vet, always very honest and doesn't try to get us to pay for more than we need to. Prices are very fair for everything we have ever done here. Boarding is around $25/day, grooming for our particular breed is $50, medical visits/shots/teeth cleanings are cheaper than a lot of other places (I don't remember exact numbers but I know I compared them when first starting to go to TLC) We just recently moved back to NY from MD and losing this place as our groomer, vet AND boarder was definitely one of the worst parts about moving! We are gonna miss everyone so much!! read more

I regret that this practice missed a few common ailments in my rescue kitten, causing me to spend extra $ and have to eventually take my kitty elsewhere. They are very kind but I was disappointed and frustrated by these mistakes. read more

My boyfriend and I brought our newly adopted dog in for a wellness exam, and the first thing we noticed was that it was loud and hectic. I understand that it's a small venue, so the loudness did not bother me at first, but all of the activity in such small space was overwhelming to our dog. After waiting for an hour and a half for our appointment, we walked into the patient room for the exam and our dog started eating something on the floor...old nail clippings. Needless to say, not the cleanest place. On top of that, the kennel where they board the dogs was in the room next to us, so we had difficulty hearing Dr. Lucas. Our dog has some problems with coughing after drinking water, so in light of that Dr. Lucas proceeded to grab her neck to see her cough...then she coughed for 5 minutes after that. I don't think that line of action was necessary...he could have suggested for us to come back if we see signs of her cough worsening being that she was a new pet. Lastly, we brought our dog's paperwork in that clearly states our dog had all of her vaccinations, yet they told us that the history was unclear and they were going to re-vaccinate her...again unnecessary. Luckily we went to another vet in the area who managed to understand the paperwork and had a MUCH cleaner facility. We did not have a very good first impression at TLC, avoid - there are better options out there. read more

This is my favorite vet I have ever been to hands down. Not only do they take exotic animals, but they do so at an amazing price. Dr. Lucas is thorough, and makes absolutely sure all my questions are answered every time I'm there no matter how busy they are! Every member of the staff genuinely cares about animals as well, my cats have had a much better experience here than other places. Dr. Lucas always goes over all the treatment options and costs, but I always feel like he is very honest and never makes me feel like he is trying to sell me something, to the extent that he has told me he could do a procedure for $X, but if it were his animal he wouldn't feel the need and it would be better to reassess later. I'm blown away by how compassionate, caring, thorough, and knowledgeable they are here. Can't recommend enough! read more

I would give them zero stars if i could. The vibe when I walked in was a little strange. Dr. Lucas misdiagnosed our dog. Our dog was in a lot of pain and the medicine that he prescribed did not help. He made it seem like our dog had a cold. We later found out from another vet what the actual problem was and Dr. Lucas was very wrong. What made me the most upset was that we had to wait to treat our dog because the prescription that Dr. Lucas gave could not be combined with the new correct medicine or she could die. Also the vet bill was very expensive. It would have been different if Dr. Lucas would have said he wasn't sure about the problem, but instead we had to wait, worrying about our dog for an extra week to see if she would be okay or need surgery. We will not be back and do not suggest anyone to try this place. read more

Too often you find people in the veterinary field become a bit jaded, I believe either because they deal with so much of the cruelty animals face on a daily basis or they go into practice for the wrong reasons. You won't find such an atmosphere at TLC for Pets. Dr. Lucas and the staff truly love animals big and small...literally. I brought in my elderly gerbils for care and eventually euthanasia. I was truly touched by the compassion that was evident on everyone's faces, not to mention surprised by the card I received shortly after, filled with genuine sympathy. In short, you can certainly trust the people of TLC with the health and happiness of your furry friends. read more

I took my 3 cats to Dr.Lucas for about 15 years. He is absolutely the best! He takes his time to explain everything that's going on with your pet, and will not do anything he doesn't feel is necessary. In other words, he doesn't try to rip you off. He simply does what's needed and what's best for your pet. The office is very safe too; they buzz you in, I'm sure to protect you and your pet from any dangerous situation that may exist with another pet that's in the waiting room. But someone is always at the desk, so it's not like you're waiting around to enter. I would give TLC for Pets a million stars if I could. Unfortunately I live in another state now, so I can't go there anymore for the cats I have now. By the way, all 3 of my cats lived long lives. One lived to be just shy of 15 years, one was 16 and a half, and my other one was about 16 years when he died. read more

The atmosphere is hospitable and convivial! I can't emphasis this enough. Dr. Mitchell Lucas was simply superb!! He has been the most thoughtful and concerned veterinarian I've come in contact with in a while. When faced with an unexpected litter, I called around to get pricing information for vaccinations and health certifications and Stephanie was most attentive with my concerns and questions. She provided exact pricing and was very thorough in explaining the procedures that were needed during the time the puppies were in our care. She provided flexibility in scheduling which was most accommodating! We received a follow up call to confirm our appointments. Upon arrival (with six 4 week old puppies), the nurses rushed to assist providing ample support. They weighed our puppies and began the prep for Dr. Lucas. They provided some relief while I filled out paperwork. It was such an excellent experience. Dr. Lucas examined each individual puppy thoroughly providing helpful suggestions. We also had one puppy who was seen by a previous vet who diagnosed him with neurological trauma. Dr. Lucas paid him extra attention, providing a full exam, getting on his hands and knees and methodically diagnosing any concerns he noticed. Dr. Lucas provided exceptional customer service and knowledgeable recommendations to implement during the last 4 weeks of care before placing the puppies in their new homes. I would definitely recommend this office to ANYONE I come in contact with!! read more
