Hello, I am writing this review 3 months post procedure. My eye sight has fully healed and my vision is fantastic at this point. The first day was very sensitive to light at the start of the day but gets better throughout the day. This last for a week or so. Vision result was immediately there the day after. I was reading everything that I need to squint at in the past. About a month later everything had stabilized. The whole process from pre-op evaluation to post op check ups has been very smooth. I went in for lasik evaluation and set my operation date. The doctors and assistants there were very knowledgeable. They answered all the concern and technical questions. On day of operation they went over the procedure and post op care. The procedure was very quick. Like surprisingly quick. Everything was done in 10-15min. I'm very happy with the results as I'm writing this review. TLC staff was alway there for me. During the last heat wave I was concern of overly sweating and infect my healing eyes. I was able to text them in the evening and they reassure me everything will be okay and stay hydrate. read more

TLC Laser Eye Centers - Optometrists Near Me - Bellevue, Washington

Do NOT go here. You may not be able to anyway, because it conveniently closed right after my surgery three months ago; but if it reopens, I highly recommend against this, or their sister facility LasikPlus in Renton. I had my surgery at the end of September 2022. 3 1/2 months later, I still have pain in one of my eyes, I can't see clearly at night, which makes driving incredibly difficult, and the prescription in my painful eye is not fully adjusted. On top of all this, scheduling a follow up appointment beyond the typical one month appointment has been a nightmare. No one calls back. I've had two post-op visits cancelled. I was moved to Renton because Bellevue closed. The first cancelled appointment took me three days to reschedule because whenever I called the main line, the service reps claimed they can't book appointments - you can only do so by calling the site directly; but the number always goes to customer service. When I finally had my appointment, the doctor seemed miffed that my eyes weren't healed; but only suggested I schedule another appointment a month later. Today, I drove to the office only to find out my appointment was cancelled because "a doctor wasn't available". I rescheduled. We'll see if they keep the appointment. read more

The office or overall organization seems disorganized. I had a consultation scheduled Monday mid-morning but when I arrived at the office the door was locked and no one at the front desk. It would have been common courtesy to get any notification prior to the appointment they would not be open. Their listed business hours are not kept up to date. Calling the listed 1877 number they could find no record of my appointment despite my email confirmation. I'd recommend TLC work on fixing either their scheduling and/or training to keep this from happening again and wasting potential patients' time. read more

You better hope that they correct for your eyesight the first time around. After waiting for a year to let the vision settle, I have not been able to get a hold of the enhancement team to schedule an evaluation for a correction covered under their guarantee. It's been a few months of constantly leaving voicemails to get it scheduled. Even their internal folks can't get a hold of the enhancement team. It's really souring the experience which was initially fantastic. I'm hoping maybe someone reads these reviews and I could get some help. read more

I got lasik with TLC one month ago. And overall I am very pleased with the results! My eye doctor confirmed I no longer have any residual prescription and life without glasses couldn't be more amazing!! Sunglasses are back in my life! For reference my prescription was a mere -1.75 each eye. Let's start with the positives: The staff and TLC were always very personable and responsive. I called a few times to ask some questions and I always spoke to a real person. They all made me very comfortable throughout the whole process (even though I certainly was not) and took time to answer all my questions. Some facts: be ready to encounter the "how does surgery next week sound". If you are a candidate, they very much seem to assume you are already 100% ready. So just be prepared and stick to your guns if you are unsure. I don't see this as a bad thing as I think most people getting a lasik consult already understand the risks and costs associated with it and are committed. They were also still very nice about it and not overly pushy. Some things that could have been better: they told us it would be an hour and a half from the time we got there to the time we were done with surgery and leaving. When I showed up on time for my surgery, the waiting room was completely full of patients. It was 2 hours before they even brought me back to an exam room for prep and about 2.5 hours total before I was released. This isn't a problem for me (not like I was going anywhere after). But my ride had to get back to her work day. If it takes 3 hours just say so so we can plan accordingly. Or, schedule more appropriately so that we aren't all waiting around so long. read more

Got lasik done here in July 2022. Everything went great. My only complaint is that is is nearly impossible to get ahold of the actual clinic. Once transfered from the call center you have to leave a message and they literally never call back. I was having issues with my vision months later and tried to contact the center and they never called me back. read more

I could not get an appointment due to the fact that I have a breast feeding infant , my child is not able to be away from me (due to needing to eat) for 3-4 hours with appointment/ and drive time . They said this is due to COVID. The fact that my infant already had covid was not asked. I'd highly recommend any moms to contact modern vision instead in the same city, they were super accommodating, it was very clean and I felt very safe being with my infant there for my appointment. I'm guessing this place does not have adequate spacing for guests or they don't trust their own cleanliness. read more

Excellent experience getting LASIK at TLC. Something I wish I had done years before, but I'm glad I chose TLC in Bellevue. The opticians/optometrists and doctors were all very kind and very helpful understanding the process. The equipment was state of the art, and the procedure was completely painless. The follow-up checks (next day, and in one month) were great as well, with doctors who genuinely cared. I got my lasik surgery done last November for nearsightedness and I'm very satisfied with the results! No more glasses/contacts! Results were almost instant. My vision was perfect within a week. Better than with glasses/contacts. My eyes were a little tender for a few weeks and were a bit dry at night for about 6 months after surgery. The eye drops helped. The process was straightforward and I felt prepared with all the information and guidance I received. The surgery is a bit uncomfortable and scary but it's not painful and it's very quick. The staff and doctors were all nice and helpful especially Karen. There was a moment during surgery where I was feeling strong pressure against my eye and I was uncomfortable and I was taking deep breaths and Karen reached over to hold my hand and it made a world of difference. I will always remember how her touch helped me feel more at ease in that difficult moment. Areas for improvement: the handouts had overlapping, sometimes contradicting details (nothing serious, just am I supposed to put the drops every 3 or 4 hours? For 3 or 4 days? That sort of thing...) There was an issue with scheduling where they called me two days before my scheduled surgery asking me to confirm the surgery for the next day. I told them I got a confirmation email, but they said there must have been an issue. Fortunately I was able to re-arrange plans, but not the best experience. read more

TLC was amazing from start to finish. Everyone on the staff was great. They always took their time to explain everything to me and help manage expectations of the entire process. I was so happy to be able to get a consultation within a few days and book the procedure for the next week. Even when I had a scheduling conflict, they were super flexible in letting me move to the following week. The procedure is a bit daunting since you're awake, but while they work on an eye you can't actually see anything happening to that eye and your other eye is taped shut. I was done within 10-15 minutes, and I was in and out of the office in 45 minutes. Prepare to get emotional like I did because as soon as the procedure was done although my vision was a bit cloudy I could see everything! Dr Gillette is a total pro. After the procedure Dr Hovander texted to check in and let me know he was always available for a call/text if I had any questions or concerns, which is awesome. I am 1 day post-op and so so happy with the results and had no issues returning to work and sitting at my computer all day. I can see my vision slowly getting sharper as I heal. My original plan was to check out a few different locations to see price differences, but TLC was the first place I went and felt so good about this location that I cancelled my other appointments. This was also recommended by my eye doctor so I trusted it even more. There are other places that might be a bit on the cheaper side, but saving money and potentially sacrificing quality is not worth it. They have different payment plans to help spread out costs, which is super helpful. I've had glasses/contacts for 20 years and I'm so happy I no longer have to deal with them anymore. I put off getting LASIK for 15 years out of fear (lasers! in my eye!) and finally decided to just do it. I went to two places for a consultation, and TLC was more thorough, explained everything carefully and fully, and wasn't very sales-y. Dr. Patch is fantastic and down to earth and every member of the staff was great and easy to deal with. I was even able to ask some questions about the prescriptions via email and got quick responses! The surgery itself was quick and painless. I'm only 10 days out of surgery and my vision is nearly perfect and getting better each day. All my appointments have run on-time and the checkups were quick and easy. Highlights: - Really friendly and helpful staff that are willing to help you through the entire process - The procedure was discussed in detail, explaining each step so there were no surprises Pre-Procedure/Consultation: Scheduling your appointment is pretty easy to do, just find an open time on their calendar. I bet you can call in as well, but it was pretty hassle free and they'll shoot you a reminder as well. Also, no real email spam from them as far as I can tell. I arrived about 15 minutes early but had to wait outside. Once it was my appointment time, however, they were prompt about getting me in. While there, Dr. Patch was more than eager to answer any questions I had and provide additional knowledge about what the experience would be like, what I could reasonably expect and all the things I needed to do to aid my own recovery. Procedure Day: Got there right on time, but it was towards the end of the day so it was a few minutes before I was brought in (enough time to go through the paperwork and sign the final release forms). Once they brought me in, they did yet another quick check to verify all numbers across all the previous visits (the initial consultation as well as a recent visit to my personal optometrist). At this point, they walked me through what the entire procedure would be like, including what I would expect to see, feel, experience. Once I was brought to the main room, they continued talking through each step, explaining exactly what was going to happen, which is hugely comforting. Dr. Gillette performed my surgery, and was a very comforting presence in the room. Dr. Patch was also happy to oblige my request to take before/after pictures of my cornea so I could see the flap (very difficult to do on your own without looking really close and shining a bright light)! Post-Procedure: The next day, they ask you to return for a 1-day checkup just to make sure everything is feeling alright and walk you through all the drops and meds you need again as well as, again, what I could reasonably expect over the next week/month/quarter. Overall a great experience, and I would definitely recommend them! My only regret, is that I never did get to hear Dr. Gillette's pirate joke. read more

It's been 2 days since I had Lasik performed by Dr. Walker, and it was one of my best life decisions. For 30 years I planned my life around not being able to see, and this morning I woke up with the best vision I've ever had. I'm not used to seeing my face in the mirror when I brush my teeth, so when I made eye contact with myself this morning it startled me in a very human way. Dr. Patch was the coolest optometrist I've ever met and we had fun conversations. I was scared of the procedure but had my hand and shoulder held the whole time, and there was nothing to be scared of. Dr. Walker calmly told me what to expect during each step and there were no surprises. He's a great surgeon. My fears were so dissuaded that if I need a revision, I would totally do it again. read more

Starting in college, I knew my eyesight was getting bad after I had a couple people say I'd ignored them in passing. I had to explain that no, I just can't see people's faces more than 20 feet away! There are honestly times where I've had to purposefully pretend to not be looking at people until I knew they were close enough to recognize! Not a way to go thru life :) So after almost a decade of bad vision, I decided to make the investment in myself, personally and professionally, and get LASIK. It's been just over a week post-op and I can my life is already changing. I won't bore you, but I feel like I have telescopes on my eyes. TLC is worth every penny. I knew there were some slightly less expensive places out there, maybe I could spend the time to get a few hundred off, but I won't pinch pennies on something as personal as my eyes. Every person in the office is as professional as you'd want. Timely, detailed, expert communicators, etc etc. From the first consultation to the surgery and post-op appointments, they are the best. Surgery on a Friday, some discomfort that afternoon, but after a nap everything was fine. Lots of eye drops (religiously!) and some goggles at night, and I was back to work that Monday. Six months after LASIK I found out that my tear production has been all but eliminated. The procedure has made it so I am unable to work full time, unable to watch my newborn, unable to sleep through the night, and unable to run. I am in constant pain and am at an elevated risk of blindness. In short, this procedure was the worst thing I have ever done. I would not recommend it for most people. Contacts and glasses are way better than the chance of needing to wear goggles the rest of your life. read more

I wasn't very pleased with my experience at TLC... 1. The process to book the initial consultation is ridiculous. When scheduling online, their website showed so many appointments offered 7 days/week. I scheduled one for a Saturday morning & received a call back saying it wasn't available.. in fact they don't even offer weekend appointments. When I mentioned the website openings they said those were just options but then they check to see what's actually available. Seems to me like you could just put what's actually available on your website & remove an unnecessary middle step ‍ 2. Went in for the consultation, here's how it went: 1) got a 30min explanation of how payment would work, loan options, add-ons, etc. 2) spent 10min getting tests done 3) got a 15min overview of the procedure, equipment, etc. 4) doc came in & spent 2min telling me I wasn't qualified for lasik (didn't even talk about PRK - which side story, was actually told by a staff member that the docs here prefer lasik & aren't as confident with PRK... definitely something to keep in mind if that's the procedure you're getting done!) & told me to stick to glasses/ contacts. 5) if I compare this experience to another consultation I had afterwards... yes, I want to know the cost. But don't waste my time telling me about loan options & your surgery room before figuring out if I'm even qualified. I know a few people who came to get LASIK here & it went really well for them. If that's the procedure you're getting done then I'm sure your experience will be very different. I ended up going to a different place nearby, had a phenomenal experience with their staff & facility (& just their overall process/ organization) & successfully got the PRK procedure. read more

After being fine with wearing contacts since I was in the sixth grade, I had a streak of bad luck after college. First, there was the ripped contact I wore for about a day and the ensuing symptoms that lasted for months and months. Then, the new brand of lenses that ripped at least once a week. And after seeing my sister and brother-in-law both get their vision fixed here, I knew I had to look into it. The first consultation was free and easy; lots of eyeball scanny machines and air-puff doodads (those are technical terms, yes), and--beepboopboopboopbeep! Out pops a recipe for making your vision perfect again. They recommended PRK (the old-school version of Lasik) for me, since I had a strong prescription and "thin corneas". This procedure takes longer to heal and might be a tad more uncomfortable, but doesn't involve the eye flap that Lasik does. I had to wait a month before getting the actual procedure, which is apparently the max amount of time before you have to get another eye map done. On the day of, I walked in and they examined my eyes one more time, and before I had the chance to get nervous, it was show-time. I was surprised at how not-nervous I was the whole time; the doctor explained what he was doing at every step along the way, and it was actually quite fascinating. Oh, you're putting drops in my eye that will sear off the top later of cells? Cool. And now you're using a little squeegie to scrape them off? Awesome. And that smell I'm detecting is just the laser annihilating my eyeball? Good to know. Anyway, blah blah blah, I walked out of there a little blurry, but more like an I-slept-with-my-contacts-in blurry than an I'm-legally-blind blurry. The next day was pretty bad, I'm not going to lie, especially when I woke up and the bandage contact had moved and was rubbing me all the wrong way. But they took care of it at the post-op appointment. Three days later, I was driving and back to work. I did all of my follow-up appointments at the regular doctor, and haven't had a problem since! It did take about 4 months before my vision got to where it was supposed to be, but that was typical of PRK. The people who worked here really seemed to have a passion for what they did, and I knew the whole time that they were doing what was best for me and my eyes so that I'd never have to come back to them again! read more

I recently had the surgery and am very satisfied with the results. I'd wished I'd done so years ago. The procedure, while slightly uncomfortable, was quick and the recommendations for recovery were spot on...just sleep for a few hours. This was worth every penny and then some. No more glasses. The piece of mind for me was that they will correct the vision for life it if deteriorates as long as I go to yearly exams The only downside was, as is usual with every doctors office, and agonizing amount of time waiting for someone to get to you. I waited alone in an exam room which was inhumanely shielded from mobile internet for a good 45 minutes. That part I could have done without I think, as it built up a bit of anxiety. Other than that, it was a good experience and my wife will be having the procedure there in the near future as well. read more

I HIGHLY recommend TLC Laser Eye Center in Bellevue. From my very first contact in the website to schedule my consultation to the post-surgery appointment, the crew here has the best customer service and support ever! There hasn't been a step in this process I wasn't fully informed, they always emails or called to make sure I didn't have any questions and even the day of surgery, made sure I was comfortable and doing ok. I originally started this LASIK journey with NW Eye Surgeons in Northgate because they were 5 minutes from my house. I consulted with them in June (they forgot I was in the waiting room!) and I am technically still waiting for them to call me to schedule the surgery. With something so important as you eye sight, I cannot say enough good things about Ileana, Karen, Dr. Patch, Dr. Belin - the list goes on. Go here - you won't be disappointed!!!!! Ps. I honestly don't have much to compare in the way of laser eye surgery, but as far as guest service and hospitality goes, this is by far the epitome of a 5-star! Story goes I kind of had an emergency appointment. Long story short, I broke my glasses, didn't want to buy new ones, thought about switching to contacts, but was then informed that my (incredible) parents were going to purchase LASIK for me for a Christmas present! It just so happened they were able to get me in for a consultation only 20 minutes after my parents let me know about this present, in hopes I could avoid buying new contacts or glasses entirely. I got there, and I literally have never felt more comfortable and calm in a doctors' office in my life. The receptionist and doctor's assistant were great conversationists, and I have a feeling they weren't surprised that I felt so welcome -- like they get that all the time from their customers. After a number of tests, a few questions, and the usual medical history paperwork, I was scheduled for an appointment only two days later. All of the doctors, assistants, and the even the receptionist made sure that I was completely sure I wanted to go through with this procedure, and I knew that I absolutely wanted to (after my dad went through a perfect surgery). I went in the day of surgery a bit nervous, but with the hospitality I received from the *entire* staff, my nerves were calmed quite a bit. I met a new doctor that day, the actual surgeon, and his personality and demeanor by themselves were incredibly calming as well. The procedure took about 8 minutes, and afterward I literally had my hand held on my way out of the operation room. I unfortunately had a bit more redness in my eyes than most patients do, and for a longer period (average is about two weeks I'm told, mine were red for about five), but other than scaring a few children, there were absolutely no side effects from the redness. Months later, I'm now seeing slightly better than 20/15, have my night vision completely back, and am loving not having to deal with glasses again. If you're even remotely considering LASIK, I'd HIGHLY recommend heading over to TLC for some more information on it, along with a super friendly, outgoing staff that will easily remove any doubt you may have in your mind about it. Very friendly staff who all take great care of you before, during and after your procedure. I never once was concerned about receiving anything less than safe, well-planned surgery. Yes their listed cost is more than other places, but it includes all the pre- and post- op visits with your eye doc, which most others don't. I took off a star because I felt like their sales is quite pushy in getting you scheduled quickly after a consultation. I also wished they had been more transparent about the cost of the prescription eye drops - mine are subject to deductible and the total for two prescriptions was $220! So far a stellar result from my LASIK. I'd definitely recommend you go to TLC if you're thinking about having it done. read more

I had my procedure done almost two months ago. I'm 20/15 and can see just as well as I did with my contacts and glasses. Dr. Patch and Dr. Womak were wonderful explaining the treatment, the procedure, aftercare and followups. I was very nervous to begin with but everyone was patient and caring. I was very calm before and during the procedure. I was originally 20/400 with -4.00 in both eyes and slight astigmatism. After one month post op I have a .5 diopter of astigmatism in one eye and the other eye is perfect. Still my vision is 20/15. There is a chance that the astigmatism will heal away. I'm so happy that I can see perfectly when I wake up, when I shower, do my makeup. My life has changed and everything happens much quicker in the mornings and evenings. No more dry eyes due to contact lenses and I don't have to deal with glasses in the evenings when I'm laying down on the couch watching a movie. I continue to use the preservative free lubricating drops all the time for added comfort and healing! Thank you Dr. Womak and the TLC team in Bellevue! I'm very happy with my results. read more

TLC has the best staff around. Let's get that clear first. Dr. Patch is fantastic and puts your health first. I really wanted lasik, and the first place I went to said it was close but would do lasik anyway. Dr. Patch thought it would be safer for PRK and Dr. Bell agreed. Dr. Bell was a great surgeon. Becky the runs the front desk is someone who just has an aura of happiness. Kathy and Terri are both fantastic. Sandra is so friendly as well and takes care of you. It's a great staff, and someone who I feel like I got to become friends with over my visits. So you know the staff rocks? What about quality? I came in as 20/400 vison. 6+ with contacts were my prescription. I left after my last visit, I had 20/15 vision. Also some places will charge a standard fee, and then add an additional price to optimize it for you? That's not fair pricing, and TLC does not do that to their customers. You get the high end (optimization) which should be the case every time, and they do not charge extra for doing the right job and taking care of you. read more

Fantastic team at TLC Bellevue. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and make you feel right at home. Consultation was great and the LASIK procedure could not have been better! The entire process was explained to me in detail, including types of sounds, sensations and smell I may experience during the surgery. Recovery has been great so far, following all aftercare protocols. It's great to have 20/20! Tested for 20/15 vision 3 days after procedure and I could read the lines albeit some halos/slight blurriness. So glad I made the choice to get LASIK done at TLC Bellevue! read more
