The team advices ahead of time when they are picking up or dropping off the dogs, so that you can prepare yourself either with a mask or head to a different room. I see them constantly using sanitizers and have never seen them without their masks appropriately worn. Even with so many dog owners working from home, it is still super important and valuable for your four-legged child to get out and socialized with other neighborhood dogs and people. Luz has been taking care of our dogs for the past thirteen years. Sadly, two passed from cancer. When they were sick Luz treated them with the exceptional, gentle, loving care. When it was "their time" Luz rushed to be with us at the veterinarians office. Luz wanted to say her goodbye's because they adored her. Not only is Luz there for our dogs and us in good times, she is with us through the grief. Luz will always be considered a part of our family. It made such a difference that Luz was with us to say her goodbyes and share her love with them and with us. I will never forget Luz's true compassion for our dogs. Luz made both of their lives fuller, happier, sharing her love and of course, always keeping them safe. Now, Luz takes care of Bella. We were fortunate enough to be recommended Luz's services by our vet, and ever since, I can't imagine trusting the care of our cat (and future pets) to anyone else. We have had Luz take care of Winston a few more times since then, and each time she has handled him with love. She knows how to build up trust with pets very quickly, and can get them to take whatever medications they need--particularly impressive with ours, needing fluids that must be delivered via IV--because she showers them with authentic affection; talking with them, giving them treats, and spending time with them. I also appreciated that Luz will send updates, including photos, while you are traveling. Not every pet caretaker does that, and it's always both a relief and a nice surprise. Relatedly, she takes the time to come and meet you and your pets before taking care of them, and I think this goes a long way to building a strong bond. The "TLC" in her business's name is not an exaggeration--I cannot recommend Luz's services highly enough.

I am extremely particular about where we leave our dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, especially as he is one of the more shy and skittish examples of the breed. He lights up when we take him to Gramercy Bark, and has enjoyed shorter (2-3 day) as well as longer (10 days) overnight stays. Rather than being in an impersonal prison-like concrete area, as many dog day cares unfortunately are, Gramercy Bark is a private apartment with a small, curated group of dogs, all of the smaller size. Videos are uploaded to Facebook so that you can watch your dog enjoying his or her time there. My biggest fear with this place is that our boy won't want to leave once we come to get him. Whereas he seems to dread many of the places we've taken him, he loves Gramercy Bark. Highly recommended.

I e-mailed many pet sitting services I found on Yelp, and Kim was quick to reply and gave me a very reasonable quote. So even though the taxi rides to and from her place were over $40, I didn't mind because Kim had great reviews on Yelp, ensured that I felt at ease with respect to her home environment and other dog clients, and worked with me on pricing so that my husband and I could enjoy some time to ourselves without breaking the bank. Preston was an awesome dog host and friend to my Daisy and Duke. Daisy is very shy around new dogs, and at 4.5 pounds, she is easily trampled on by other dogs, even other "small dogs". We have agility nationals next month, so it was critical that she not be injured by other dogs--and Kim cleared her calendar so that she would only have two other dog clients that day (and both dog clients seemed well-behaved and nice). Preston is a laid-back host and is such a cutie pie, I really liked him and he welcomed Duke and Daisy into his home with no problems whatsoever. Kim is such a good doggie mom, she is very gentle and soft spoken, with a great set up in her apartment. I was immediately impressed by the number of potty pads she had out on the ground for the dogs to use (no skimping there!). She also had a pet gate separating her bedroom from the rest of the apartment, which she could use for time outs or to separate the dogs if needed. Normally I am a worry wart, but I left my dogs with Kim without too much stress or concern after meeting her and Preston. We caught both an afternoon matinee and an evening show on Broadway before returning to pick up our dogs. Kim was waiting for us and helped me pack up the dogs, and payment was easy as I paid cash + a 25% tip for her good care of my poms. I would definitely recommend Kim and her dog Preston for anybody needing a pet sitter for a few hours (or in my case, half a day). Kim is very easy to communicate with, and obviously loves dogs. I will use her again the next time we visit NY with our dogs, and hope this review helps other pet owners feel confident about using Kim's services. Kim can send you pics or vids of your dogs while you are away so you know they are doing okay. ;) One note of caution: the street Kim lives on is a one-way, narrow street (I think all the streets we saw in NY were like that), so our taxi driver was not happy at all that he had to wait there while I picked up my dogs. I recommend having your taxi driver wait on the larger street that runs perpendicular to the street in front of her apartment building so that he doesn't block traffic while you pickup or drop off your dog with Kim. Can't wait to come back and check out the daycare - we got a tour of the facility and it is so fresh, modern and very clean!

Shortish version Our…read moredog was nicked during a sanitary trim, and was was bleeding a little when we wiped the area where she was nicked. She has razor burn so severe that we had to put a cone on her to prevent her from constantly licking herself. What became very worrying was that she has not eaten much, drank very little, and has not peeped or pooped, and just lies there at home for the past 24 hours, refusing to move. We tried speaking to the manager, Daniel, when we bumped into him at the vet, and he said "1 sec" and never got back to us. Eli (business owner) followed up while our dog was getting a x-ray to explain to us that they didn't do anything wrong and that they are not liable to pay for our dog's care, even though we never indicated in any way that we wanted them to. No matter what, a dog who has never had any issues with grooming, should not be in this state after a sanitary trim. And no mater what, someone should have communicated to us what had happened. After what has occurred and the way the whole situation was handled, we no longer feel safe or OK leaving our dog here. Longer version with more details below. ---- I am as level headed as they come. Feel free to look at my profile, all my reviews are only 4 and 5s (And have been leaving reviews on Yelp for over a decade), and don't believe in leaving negative reviews, as I don't like the idea of negatively affecting someone's business. I've decided to break my rule, because there are some clear issues with Dog and Bone's grooming services. Our dog gets monthly grooming, and has never had a single issue. We decided to give this D&G a try rather than our usual spot, because our initial first impression was so positive, and wanted to give them more business. But after leaving our usual instructions that we've given to every other groomer, when we received our dog, she could not stop licking her vulva. We would walk a few steps and she would start licking herself. Until finally she refused to walk anymore and I had to carry her the rest of the way home. At first I thought she was just not comfortable with the sanitary trim (which also has never happened before), but when I got home and wiped her down in that area there was BLOOD. My belief is that she was nicked and has red bumps, which looks like razor burn. I am unsure, because no one has bothered to communicate to us that anything happened. It was terrifying not knowing what had happened and needing to guess. Not only did the groomer not follow our directions, but our dog was hurt, and still not herself. Following our arrival home, for 24 hours she has refused to eat, drink much water, and keeps on trying to nip/lick herself, and refuses to move. We sent Daniel two emails documenting everything with pictures, videos, etc. We took our dog to an Instavet next door (same owner) and she continued to not eat or poop, and bumped into Daniel when we tried to speak to him he told said us 1 minute and never bothered to return. While our dog was getting an x-ray Eli (business owner) called us and awkwardly tried to suggest that the issue did not occur at day care or grooming, and was trying absolve himself of any wrong doing, which we did not understand, until he got to his point about not being obligated to pay for our dog's vet bill. We are deeply worried about our pet's well being, and to call us while our dog is at his vet to try and absolve themselves of any wrong doing made us so angry, due to his cold and uncaring tone. Holy crap, I could not believe what I was hearing. All we carried about was the well being of our dog, and the call just made us feel worse. We have sent our dog to dog and bone club multiple times a week for the past month. They have completely lost our trust. Accident can happen, I can be understanding of that. But the severity, not communicating, trying to tell us that they're not liable to pay for our dog's vet bill, when we made no indication that we wanted them to pay in any shape or form, is not acceptable. Collectively, my wife and I have spent 13 hours at the two vets this weekend, and nearly ~$800 dollars thus far in trying to diagnose and address an issue that happened on their watch, on top of a $50 sanitary trim. Stay away, don't risk it. There are plenty of other places to go to in LIC. I will leave things off with a positive in that Sarah at the front desk is kind and super nice.
