It's close to my house which I love and I love how the store is always spotless and organized, making it easy for me to find what I need. I also appreciate the fact that they carry CBD oil for dogs, because it really made a difference in my senior pup's arthritis. We took our 45lbs dog in for a wash and what a great experience. We had a clean tub and safe place to bathe him along with soap, brushes, hairdryer, and towels. If you want to bring your own things, that's apparently fine too but not needed. Staff was awesome and very patient in explaining the process. We will be back for sure!! My wife and her Lab met each other a year ago, since this shop was just up the street, she went in for a few essentials, then they guided her through a few chewing issues with great results . Very knowledgeable and approachable people here that care about you and your pet. Good selection of quality foods and treats....don't look for generic "cheap" foods here, but with their help you can find a selection of food and treats your pet can thrive on. I need to update my review of Boofy's, because recently our family got an update -- our first dog. A puppy, actually, a rescue out of Roswell, named Bowie. As a life-long dog un-enthusiast, it was a tough transition, shifting my self-centered world view towards an animal that made me grovel behind his walks in the park, hand bagging his poo. Not cool, dog. And don't piss in the house, yo, and stop ripping up the kid's shoes, and don't run out the door just because you think this catch-me-if-you-can game is amusing. Seriously, can I take this mutt back to the pound, already? Boofy's is partially responsible for my utter change of heart over the course of just one month. First of all, every visit we make, they spoil Bowie rotten: dog treats, kisses, kudos, the animal is a freakin' rock star in there. Every employee we've worked with, including the ever-idiosyncratic owners, has carefully listened to our needs and offered great advice; the dog has better food, toys, chewers, leads and leashes, not to mention techniques and, well, I've enjoyed my share of Frustrated Owner Therapy. I'll go out of my way to support this great local business, and I'll spend at least $20 each visit, just so I can use that awesome Yelp Check-in offer. read more

I shop here every couple months to buy my pet's food. When you walk in you are always greeted with a hello and a smile from somebody working there. They are very courteous and ask if you need help finding anything. If you don't know what to buy just asked them and they will give you suggestion after suggestion. They do sell cookies for your pet and some sweet treats. I buy raw hides for my dogs here. If you need an extra collar or a leash for any pet they have it here as well. Make sure you check in with Yelp to receive $3 off of your purchase. After every $100 you spend you get a $5 coupon. I highly recommend this place. If you purchase a heavy bag of dog food, they will help you take it to your vehicle. read more

I love this store. When we moved here 4 months ago I was thrilled to find a place so close to home. They have a great rewards program. And, they carry a dog food I was not able to find anywhere else...a large breed limited ingredient grain free kibble that sat well on my dogs belly, that also had large sized pieces that my Hoover sucking inhaling dog would actually chew. I like to shop at boofys for my two dogs but almost every time I go in a guy who's tall and has a beard and dark hair always coughs up phlegm and it's absolutely disgusting! As per my original check in posted as a photo.. I was very disappointed and uncomfortable shopping and purchasing from Boofy's. When I accepted the help from one of the staff she had little to no information for me regarding my pets diet. I felt she had little to no interest in me or my pets preferences. When I asked about differences in raw food I was told "Primal and Stellas were the best marketed" and nothing more. I felt very uncomfortable and stopped asking questions that weren't being answered and left with the recommended food. I and my pups were not happy with it unfortunately. Waste of money I fear. I thought I was crazy or maybe having an off day but after going to a different pet store today I can confidently say that my experience at Boofy's was objectively upsetting with v poor customer service .. 2 stars bc the gal at the cash register was kind. read more

Boofy's offers the largest food assortment for dogs and cats I've ever seen! And a great spread of treats and toys so we took a couple of spins around the store before making our selections. The brief interaction we had with the owners was pleasant and they were quite friendly. We were at the shop today because they were holding an event for animal rescue groups and adoptions, so while I'm already behind them because they are a local business, the difference they make for animals in need makes them that much more amazing. Great pet store on the West side of Albuquerque. The staff is friendly and they have great products.

They always have too many employees. I have only been there with a couple customers, so not sure what this is about. The best Service is from the Owner. Thankfully she saved me yesterday and helped with the information needed. While I had hoped they would have what I needed, they didn't. But I do always try here first. However, for me, this happens more often than not. But I like the idea of giving my business to the small local, rather than the big Corporate store. The Store is full of merchandise and why they often don't have what I need, not sure. But it's a really nice store. read more

First time visit, we stopped in on a walk. They are SUPER friendly. Welcomed my Dog and gave him a treat, called him by name, asked about him. We didn't really need anything but bought a bag of treats for him to try. Yes they are a bit more but it's so nice to have a local store and within walking distance. I would suggest stopping in as they have a TON of inventory and are sure to have something you will want if not need. We also left with a sample, which is always good. Yes they have many items for our pets but the reason I give them 5 stars is because I went in looking for a special organic item for a sick dog that I saw online. The two people that helped me could have sold me an expensive product. They could have recommended something that was overpriced. THEY DIDN'T! They took the time to talk with me, find out what was wrong with my dog. They offered a couple of ideas that should help. I wound up buying a couple of items at Boofy's for $5 not $30 or $50 like I saw online. Their recommendations seem to be working!!!! I respect a business that truly cares & is very friendly. What a wonderful gem of a store! I'm addition to my cat I have three rabbits, so I was beyond stoked to find that Boofy's sold a variety of hay and they used the Oxbow hay reward program which after so many bags earns me a free bag of hay! They also sell treats and have recently added a wide variety of Oxbow toys for small pets and my bunnies absolutely adored them. I love the people at Boofy's as they are knowledgeable and kind and always greet me it a smile. I would highly recommend checking out this store regardless of any pet you have, but to small pet owners on the Westside, check them out! They are amazing. read more

I was passing through Albuquerque on a cross country move and stopped for the evening. My GPS said I would get there 2 minutes after close. I called ahead and they offered to stay open until I got there which is amazing cause very few places even sell Fromm, the grain free food of choice for my dog let alone are open as late during the weekdays. When I arrived, both gentlemen at the store were nice and helpful. They even carried the large bag of dog food to my car! If I lived in Albuquerque, I wouldn't purchase things for my pets anywhere else!! read more

I appreciate Boofy's for carrying a lot of natural food options. While I appreciate the staff's willingness to help, it's at times overbearing. I would much prefer "Hey let us know if you need anything" followed by having some space (!) - rather than being stalked around be the store and asked 3 times in 5 minutes "can I help you find anything?" Often times they will interrupt my husband and I when we are discussing a food item or reading a label. There is a fine line between helpful and smothering and boofys crosses it For me. It makes me feel like they are suspicious of me, like are they worried about me and my husband stealing??? That's not a good feeling to have, and I don't have that when I go to any other store in town. Please give your customers space to explore the store. Improve this part and I'll come more often, Or not and I'll keep driving across town to Long Leash on Life. read more

I was looking for some new dog food to try for my picky dog. I went in to see what they had. The store looks small from the front but they have a amazing selection. I asked for help picking out a food. The person that helped me asked me a lot of questions to help me select the best food for my dog. I was able to find some healthy treats for her too. My dog loves the new food. I also got my cat food there as well as some toys. They have a loyalty program for their food and $5 off on purchases too. Was grateful for all the help. The store is really clean and everyone is always extremely helpful and nice. I appreciate their customer service and plan on shopping there a lot! read more

Jeff and Lisa are very knowledgeable and helpful- they'll answer all of your questions and make you smile while it happens. I feel like I'm getting a good price for quality grain-free dog food (and on top of that good price they have a reward system in place). They also have lots of toys and treats for dogs and cats. I keep a hamster as well and of all the local places I've been, Boofy's has the best seed mix for my small animal (based on some research, I was looking for a very specific brand and couldn't find it anywhere. I was about to order it online when on a whim, I checked Boofy's and they had it). I was even able to get dried mealworms here to mix in the extra protein hamsters need. I also LOVE that they don't sell animals here but they do help foster cats from a local shelter. Anytime I have a pet need, I come here first. I recently noticed that they've started carrying more toys for small animals like rabbits and rodents, so while they may not have everything you need for more exotic pets, I'm excited that they've expanded their stock in this department. I hope it goes over well for them. If you keep cats or dogs, come check them out. They have a diverse selection of diets and a staff that (in my experience) has always been helpful. If you keep rabbits or rodents, the section for these animals is much smaller, but they don't stuff the shelves with junk. The hamster food brand that they carry is a quality seed mix, and (as I recall) the rat food and mouse blocks were reputable brands as well. They even had a nice assortment of treats. I also really respect that they don't sell tiny cages here (If they do, I didn't see any). *To be clear, they do have cat and dog crates, but (to my delight) no tiny cages meant for rats or anything like that. If you keep reptiles or birds, I can't help you. They do carry some items for these animals, but because I don't have an interest in either of these pets I haven't been paying attention to that particular corner of the store. I can't rave about this place enough. A shop owner can't always control the customer's experience with the service given (sometimes people have bad days, or just rub someone the wrong way without realizing it), but a shop owner can control the products they carry. In my experience, the people have been great and the products reflect ethics I can get behind. 1. No animals sold here, only local cats up for adoption. 2. Quality food, treats, and toys (at least for the animals I'm knowledgeable enough to vouch for) sold at a reasonable price. I should also add, that all of that doesn't even take into account the community events they put on occasionally. Ask their awesome staff about upcoming events. They normally have something planned around the holidays. *edit to make clear I was talking about pet rodent enclosures, not dog crates or cat carriers. They have a great selection of cat/dog carriers and cat trees, etc. But I'd rather a store not carry pet rodent enclosures, than carry rodent enclosures that cause health issues for the animal. (Some popular enclosures on the market aren't build with the animal's well being in mind). To my knowledge, Boofy's doesn't carry rodent enclosures, and I have so much respect for that. Should I ever need a big Critter Nation (an excellent enclosure for pet rats), I would definitely ask if they'd order one so I could buy it through them. read more

It seems like they have a nice selection of products but I wouldn't know. We walked in needing more food for the dog. Boofys is the closest retailer for Fromms so we went in. Within 5 seconds we were greeted not with a "how are you today?" But with a " hello can I get anything for you?" Having been in retail for numerous years this set me back. I didn't even have time to look around around. We ask for Fromms food and she leads over there. We pick up Our bag and she says she will carry it up front, strange but ok that's cool. The un-cool part is the fact that they already had us rung up on the register before we could even look around more. They asked if we knew about Fromms 12th bag free deal and, yes we did, however they seemed like they wanted to debate the policy on redeeming it even though each store we have bought from in both Chicago and Dallas did it a little different. Overall the experience wasn't the greatest and I'll probably be trying a different store next time I need food or to spoil my mutt. read more
