My Daughter has been at TM for 2.5 years now and started shortly after her 6th birthday. Being enrolled, her personal development has improved significantly, not only physically, but as a person in general. Most of the instructors are very young, but don't let that deter from the fact that they know what they're doing. With the instructors being on the younger side, I feel that it allows them to connect with their students a bit better and come off less intimating. With that, it helps the kids build their confidence. Most of the instructors have been at TM since they were tiny children themselves, so the years of experience are there, as well as the culture. They do a great job of keeping the kids actively engaged. With my daughter, it helps that they have several female instructors that are strong & positive role models. She has really made a strong bond with Ms. Gabby, Ms. Bella, Ms. Maggie, and Ms. Vanessa. It is that bond with her Instructors that has kept us from moving out of state. There are plenty of other studios around, even within walking distance of our home, but there's just somethings that can't be replaced. However with all of this said, TMMA is just like anything else. You really get what put in. If you're only looking to put in minimal time and minimal effort, expect minimal results. --- As far as TMMA not being competitive, they never claim to be a competition school. In fact, some of the surrounding area schools have actively tried to "poach" my daughter at various local events (Plainfield Fest, Cross Roads, ect), and the manner in which they do it, is highly unethical and speaks volumes to what they are most likely teaching in their own studios. read more

I signed my son up when he had just turned 4yrs old, in hopes that he would learn some self discipline, improve his attention span, & learn a little self defense. My son has been a student at TM Martial Arts for three years. We were looking for an alternative to team sports that would both interest him and challenge him physically. We got much more than we were looking for. TM has become like a second family to him. He has become more confident, disciplined, and coordinated. Bottom line, this place is absolutely incredible. My son wanted to take martial arts like me so I checked out a few places and found this one. While the outside may not look like much, the culture that is bred inside more than makes up for it. The instructors are able to capture the attention and effectively train students at every age. They understand parents have a lot going on in their every day lives and they bend over backwards to work with us. They've also helped teach my son so much more than martial arts. Above all they care. They care about their students, they care about what they're teaching, and they care about making sure they are seeing the right example. We enrolled our 8-year-old son in December 2020. We have seen improvement in his behavior, focus, and confidence. The staff are friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable, and it speaks volumes about this school that many of them were/are students of the school themselves, starting from young ages and teaching youngsters now. There is a good mixture of encouragement and correction as needed to help my son and fellow students stay on track. So happy we came in for the free trial! Our son is very motivated to get his black belt, and I feel the program here will help him get there! (As part of enrollment here, they will give the students a free ninja party for their birthday. Great place, have one of my sons enrolled with my younger one coming soon. The instructors are friendly, personable and overall give a outstanding positive vibe. They keep the place very clean as well, with the matts being cleaned after every class. I've seen an improvement with my son regarding him being more responsible in daily life and becoming more of a leader to his younger brother. At times we aren't able to make it to our scheduled class and they've always worked with us to make sure we don't miss a beat, that alone is appreciated. With the two free sessions included there's zero reason IMO not to try it for anyone. read more

I relied heavily on my husband's opinion of TM Martial Arts when we chose this school for our child because he used to be a martial arts instructor. The school strongly believes in structure and self-discipline. Instructors are knowledgeable and kind. The weekly good habits sheets help children in their daily activities, basic chores, and good habits.
