Although there were many people waiting, I was seen by the triage rather quicker than i anticipated, after that maybe within 30mins called back for an Xray & then the real wait began, after a ling period I was move over to another section of the ER, at least from there the wait for a room wasn't too to long. don't go. but if you go, wear a mask at all times. I was sat next to a woman with influenza A who wasn't wearing a mask. I was sat in a 10x10 in recliners with 6 other six people. I felt like cattle. I only went because urgent care told me to but never again. I literally had to hold my own urine sample for 20 minutes. they gave me fluids but it took them 20 minutes to hang the bag back up. i never saw a doctor, only a PA. go anyhere else, especially if you don't want strangers knowing what is wrong with you. read more

I've had to go here twice in the past week and it's the best ER I've been to in Tucson. All of the staff are friendly and helpful even when it's in the middle of the night. The nurses and doctors listen with kindness and help you feel reassured. They have a great triage system as well. Even during the busy holiday season it felt like they stayed calm and kept everything moving and were kind even under the stress and packed ER. read more

The most ridiculous thing, but when your forced to buy from a vending machine, and the cost is $3.50 for a soda you would expect the machine to work. It cost me $3.50 to listen to a machine make noise. So bring your own drinks and food to TMC, because they are out to make money anyway they can. read more

I guess it's time to raise the bar. Rural Metro Fire Ambulance (subscription fire and ambulance) Was called , 911 , after midnight for me. I was having a seizure in my sleep. After the paramedics came and I came to TMC the next level of xlnt care began. Tests, Scans, watchful nurses. Now I have Been given a special med and they will keep me for observation for 24 hours. The two meals so far were very good. That so many doctors and nurses check on me is very reassuring. Home tomorrow. Hope to not return. read more

This is the worse staff I have ever experienced. Not just in the ER section but the night nurses in the 900 room area. They have an attitude problem because they work late and take it out on the patients. They were so rude to my 72 year old mom who had multiple strokes. They tell you what they want you to hear they say the you will get a chair or a bed in a couple hours my mom didn't get a bed for 12 hours. Mind you she was in a wheelchair chair that was as hard as a rock she was scoliosis and two hip replacements. The nurses blame it on them being short staffed which I understand but they say it like it's our fault , maybe get your company to get more staff . They say you will get results in a hour or two nope that took 6 more hours. They took 1 and a half to get her a Tylenol because she was throwing up and crying. She spent 24 in a chair that was in a room with 8 other people the floor was so disgusting I dropped a used tissue and that was the cleanest thing on the floor. She spent four days there and got an actual room the last day. It was so bad she begged to go home but they refused to sign off on it. I definitely wouldn't go there unless your dying and at the point your better off dying peacefully in your home rather than that dump. read more

My primary care physician is located here and when I called her to tell her about my dizziness and swelling in my leg they suggested that Immediately go to the emergency room to get checked out. Even though the emergency room was very busy I only had to wait roughly 15 minutes to be seen and was overwhelmed by the care and kindness I received. I really wanted to send my appreciation to the ER nurse Garret who showed me a tremendous amount kindness and care and stayed with me all day and answered all of my questions about what exactly was going on you are a blessing to your profession! read more

I was shocked at how dirty this ER is. I noticed a large group of nurses standing together socializing and not working. They were just hanging out while the ER waiting room was flooded with patients. Once I got into the ER i noticed the same thing. Nurses hanging out while people behind curtains were screaming for help and crying. The hallway was filled with hospital beds and patients. It was an odd site to see. It felt apocalyptic. Once in the ER room I was disgusted by the room. The filth. I didn't even want to sit down in the chair. Everything was so gross. I have to say the nurse in the ER was very sweet. We were moved to an ER observation room after 5 hours and a MRI. In observation I have to say the room was much nicer and clean. I wasn't scared to sit down. However... the nurses in this area were worse than awful. They were rude, walked away in the middle of me speaking to them, and kept changing what they were saying. For example: we were clear to be discharged, then we had to go for an MRI, even though we just had one. Then we had to wait for the doctor to be discharged, then the doctor left for the day, then they couldn't get a hold of the doctor, then we couldn't be discharged because the hospital didn't allow it, then the nurse wouldn't come when we paged her. I was with my mom, the patient, and they did feed her all day. She just wanted water because she was getting sick from not eating all day. But the nurse wouldn't answer our page. I got up and went to nurse desk and the nurse was back their hiding and annoyed I went to her desk. Asked if my mom could have food because it was now 6pm. She said no because she was being discharged. An hour later we still weren't discharged and the nurses wouldn't bring my mom water. Finally the doctor came and gave us results from MRI, he was very nice, told us everything looked good, to follow up with her doctor and we could go. The nurse came in and we asked for our discharge papers and the nurse got mad and said my mom was not being discharged and would be kept overnight. I told her the doctor said we could go, she walked away. The nurse threatened us that if we left against the recommendation of the hospital she'd make sure insurance didn't pay the bill. But the doctor said we could be discharged and the nurse simply didn't care. She made us fill out paperwork saying we were leaving against hospital recommendation. But we got up and left. And my mom is fine. Seeing her doctor on Monday. read more

My husband was treated here earlier this week. It was a scary moment and we are so grateful for the wonderful care and treatment he received. Recently spent hours with a friend in the ER, the staff seemed to care less about the patient. They would take him off the monitor and not put him back on of hours. No offer to this 91 year old with a gash on his head even water or ice. They said they could not admit him, so we left him after 5 hours to be transported back to care home, He arrived there 3-4 hour later with a new gash on his head, they gave us no explaination what happened, no bandage and an open head wound. The room in the ER was filthy dirty, holes in the linoleum the bottom of the stretcher looked like it had never been cleaned. We never found out what happened every time they would we are investigating you will hear back within 30 days. It was the worst ER visit I put in a formal complaint with no answers. Beware of the cleanliness and caring in the ER. Recenly I had to go to an ER and even though I have TMC One drs I went to another hospital. I would not advice taking anyone there! read more

I've came here before and it was good care. I will admit that. But I came in tonight 19 weeks pregnant with cramping and back pain and I've been here for five hours already. I've confirmed the tests are back and just waiting on the doctor and I'm a little upset to say the least. Every room around me has been checked on 5 times over and I haven't heard a peep in almost 2 hours. Is this due to having state Medicare? Or is this single doctor just busy? I recently experienced a concerning lack of comprehensive care at TMC hospital on Grant road, where I sought treatment for a potential stroke. In addition to this concern, I also have a pre-existing medical condition that requires prompt attention in emergency situations to prevent life-threatening complications. Unfortunately, the medical staff declined to address this condition, citing that it was not the primary reason for my visit. However, I emphasized that my adrenal insufficiency cannot be left unattended. Thankfully, it was determined that I was not having a stroke after 24 hours of observation and testing. I'm grateful that it was not a stroke, as I fear that would have resulted in severe consequences without treating my other medical condition. I subsequently filed a complaint and was informed that their policy is to only treat the presenting condition. Therefore, individuals with coexisting medical conditions may want to exercise caution when considering TMC on Grant road as a treatment option. I have been to TMC throughout the years for other issues and I have never experienced care like I did that day. Now I will drive past TMC to TMC Rincon where the care is excellent and comprehensive. read more

We read some negative reviews and wanted to add our thoughts as our experience was the complete opposite. After going to an urgent care facitlity, we were told we needed to go to an emergency room. TMC was recommended, and we had a positive experience. Every employee we encountered at TMC, from the security guard to the nurse and doctor, was caring, competent, and efficient. My husband was in a lot of pain, and we waited less than 5 minutes in the waiting room before he was taken back to the ER and seen by a tech and then a doctor within 15 minutes. Due to needing a CT scan, EKG, etc., we were there for almost 4 hours, but they were very thorough, and we had the opportunity to see many interactions between patients and staff. The employees were busy but always compassionate towards each patient. One woman was quite upset and burst into tears when an x-ray tech came in to x-ray her back. Of course, we don't know why she began crying but the tech was great. Took the time to talk to her and even gave her a long hug before going about the job of taking the x-ray. If there was a negative, it was probably that TMC is an older facility, some of the furniture is worn, and, like many emergency rooms, the area is divided by curtains into patient spaces which can result in a lack of privacy. My husband thankfully did not need to be admitted but was sent home with detailed discharge instructions. We felt confident he had received quality care and an accurate diagnosis, and we were happy we chose to go to TMC's emergency room. read more

I realize that Saturday night at the ED can be busy and it was. Very few seats when I arrived with my husband who's a cancer patient with the flu. He was seen pretty quickly by triage but then had to wait 12 hours when he could barely sit up. When we got to the back room after 7 hours it was 2+hours before the doctor came. She was professional and swamped. Some of the nursing staff were the most unprofessional I've ever witnessed, talking about they didn't know anything, they believed in asking for forgiveness not permission for treatment, interacting with male staff in a strange way and not checking in with patients in our ed room for nearly 2 hours. One in particular did not engender any confidence in care. When I had to leave at 2 am because my flu chills were getting bad I reached out to the head nurse and got a fairly dismissive response. I was afraid to leave my very sick husband there with no patient advocate but I was getting quite sick myself so I had to leave. read more

Taken by ambulance the first time And had a 7 hour wait to be admitted gor fractured clavicle and concussion but no one rude. The next time fell and hit ahead a month later and obviously had a concussion forced to sit in chair in lobby for 8 hours and set home disoriented and still vomiting . Called ambulance 12 hours later taken back to CMC amd forced to wait 15 hours on guerny - I was hung up on by guy laughing twice in ER no decent care until A Rn named Colleen came On duty after I called hospital Supervisor - admitted and received lousy care and allowed to fall again in neurology! read more

Terrible service all around. When my grandmother had to stay overnight, the nurse LIED about there being a room available for her. They were supposed to be "cleaning" it. My grandmother ended up staying in the uncomfortable ER room the entire day and a half she was there. They "forgot" to give her a call button until a nurse from a different shift gave one to her, and they had all kinds of unnecessary crap plugged into their machines, so when they couldn't figure out why they couldn't read her heart rate after a few hours, they realized it was because the cable wasn't plugged in. They couldn't get the patches for the EKG to stick, claiming that she was wearing some "good lotion" when she didn't have any on at all, and they drew blood from her arm 6 TIMES without telling us why they needed to do it so much, and the nurse was completely unphased at my grandmother squirming in pain while they were doing it. I went to the TMC ED for intestinal pain. I have Crohn's disease. I waited in the nearly empty lobby for 4 hours. They finally brought me back to a space and we're going to place an IV. I told them they would need the ultrasound to find a vein but they insisted they could do it without. 2 horrible sticks and the nurse gave up and got the ultrasound. After that they said I'd need a CT scan. Then the began administering medication via IV. They told me what they were pushing for the first 2 medications and while they were pushing the third, they informed me it was fentanyl. Geez. I knocked out and woke 2 hours later. I needed the bathroom... really bad. No one would respond to my call button. There was a nurse right outside the curtain that was on her phone obviously on a personal call. Another nurse told me I'd have to hold it until someone was free to come help me. I ended up walking myself to the bathroom where I pulled my IV and then left the hospital. This isn't the first time they have provided terrible service, just the most recent. read more

They denied me service for gallstones and my gallbladder. They did no ultrasounds, and placed me in the hallway to wait for the doctor to tell me I'm dramatic. Went to kino and they did surgery as NEEDED! I almost died because of this stupid ass hospital. NEVER GO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE PUT ON THE BACK BURNER AND BE TOLD YOU ARE DRAMATIC. The red headed nurse was not our nurse and reprimanded me like a child when I removed myself from the room and went to the exit door to talk on my phone. She then let others talk in the small area in front of the rooms. Her excuse was she was entering things for HPPA. Really?, and my phone call about my friend involved HPPA , how? Im not kidding a vet will see your sick animal way sooner than they will see you here. I came in on jan 2nd in pain from a recurring infection that i got from a previous medical injury and i presented with other complications. They made me wait 4 hours before i was even given a room to wait to see a doctor, as my condition was too complex for the PA to handle. The whole time, other people were taken ahead of me, labeled more critical, as i sat in the lobby and waited to see one of the limited doctors this hospital keeps on staff to see patients. When i asked when i would be seen, they didn't know. Im very angry. Is this what we have to look forward to as we age? I was in pain and no one cared. I even asked for medicine while I waited and was told i had to wait to see the doctor, which i still haven't seen And if you think this hospital doesnt have the money to employ a few more doctors, you would be wrong, not to mention the raffle/lottery they now have each year, which I contribute to and have never won a dime. I have been at TMC for all my major surgeries the staff and doctors have been woonderful But that all ended tonight when one of the doctors made me feel like the biggest piece of crap around, I went in with severe pain in my left kidney. Initially he refused me pain medication other than tablets I take at home after I explained I had already taken those and the pain was still level 10 he ignored me and still gave me the same thing. After several tests he comes back saying he won't give me anything because I A chronic pain patient and when I got upset because I was still in pain he said I'm going to fill out your discharge paperwork. When I asked for st least another dose of my regular medicine hr refused. He acted like I was done addict seeking drugs. I only go to the hospital when I cannot get the pain I may be having under control. He treated me like there was nothing wrong and he refused to help me not be on pain. Not all people who take pain medication are addicts or drug seeking. If you don't want to help people find a new profession where you don't have to deal with people. Unfortunately we spent two consecutive evenings at this Emergency Room with a loved one. Fortunately though, there are some amazing people working here. Now, I have to remove a star because it took FOREVER to be seen both nights, but they get a solid four stars because of the superstars we encountered. Our nurses Stephanie (first night) and Zane (second night) were caring, attentive, empathetic people - exactly what you want in a nurse! Kasey (sp?) was another fabulous individual we encountered. I asked for his help and he did not hesitate. He took on the tough task with professionalism and care. I knew I was asking a lot but he didn't hesitate and I was never made to feel bad and my loved one's dignity was maintained. I am oh so thankful for him and Zane and hope the hospital administrators understand, recognize, and reward these fabulous men. This is my go to hospital. I checked in Thursday morning with extreme pain all over my body. Pain I've never experienced before. They got me checked in fairly quickly had to wait at least 15 20 mins in the waiting room. They put me in a room where four other nurses came in to access my situation. They were all very helpful and so patient with me. They got my pain level down and my heart rate was sky rocketing so they admitted me to the cardiac unit . All the doctors and nurses have to Been so helpful and caring. They sent me up to get an MRI and when I was finished someone was suppose to transports back to my room. Well they forgot about me cause I was there for about 2 hours. The staff was very apologetic. They ran test after test which I really appreciate cause with Lupus and RA anything can go wrong. Husband had to go in for a cardiac problem, for the most part things went really well, it was on a Sunday and we got right into a room, the nurse Gianine was really nice and great, the nurse that took over after she left from her shift, was another story, she was taciturn and underestimated people's intelligence, her nursing was really good, her attitude towards family members was not. read more

Been sitting here 7 and 1/2 hours. They apologize for the delay in being seen. They claim it's be of helicopters and EMS ambulances, there was one helicopter that came in the 7 and 1/2 hours. They may be short on staff and that makes them short on beds. Maybe the administration should come and help. Worst ER experience of my life. Made me wait 2 hours in excruciating pain before they'd admit me. Once admitted, my nurse Michelle was amazing. Very kind and patient. But my star rating is not for her, it's for the ER staffing and policy issue. When someone is doubled over in pain so much so that they're actually moaning and in tears, you put them at the front of the line. Or at least bring them back and administer some pain meds. You don't force them to sit there for two hours in the worst pain they've ever felt. If it's a staffing issue, then hire more people. I don't really care what you have to do but this issue needs to be dealt with. No one should have to go through that. read more
