I wanted to go darker and got a toner at this salon on Saturday. Paid for a product that has the quality of a box color. The lady who did my hair told me today that the color I got on Saturday would only last 10 washes. She called me back and told me I could pay another $40 for the same gloss or spend $45 for a conditioner that would help save my color. Oh Jeana that girl.. New to the area and I have already fallen into the hands of a very blah stylist at another salon. Same day I got my hair done I went to have sushi and my babe of a server had amazing hair and she referred me to JEANA! Getting ready to leave to head to my hometown ( St. Pete.. Flo rida! ) I gave them a call on a Monday (closed) no worries. Got a call this morning Tuesday and BOOM my lady had a cancelation and I got in! Never happens! Before I get into my hair. The staff all around is really nice and I got a welcoming awesome vibe right away. The boss lady super sweet and charming and the receptionist was bright and smiley. Hard to find these days. (; Offered something to drink. Tea, water yada yada. The set up is super dope. Definitely a great use of space. Reminds me of a open large loft. Beautifully decorated. Music was nice and up to date. Back to the real point. Jeana... hey gurl! Super rad chick. Very open and personal. Kinda told her what I wanted. Low maintenance, but I was too blonde and needed it to me tamed for the fall winter. I let her do her thing. I had complete trust in her. She colored me and brought down my blonde and trimmed me up so my hair would not be so fizzy from prior ughs... nailed it period! When you go to a place and you see the person that does your hair or makeup, you judge them on their hair and makeup. Just how it goes. She is fun and flirty. Total sex appeal and reminded me of all my gfs back home. Her style and vibe are just the icing to her creative mind and rad style. I've been going to this salon since 2008 and I have never walked away unhappy. The prices vary depending on your stylist. I always paid for the top notch - Kristy Ciarla, the owner and truly an expert in her trade. It's a little pricey but as I said, she's the best . I always had complete trust in her recommendations and she never steared me wrong. The work that I witnessed by the other stylists during my time in the chair always looked professional and well done as well. Friendly staff, stylish salon, getting your hair washed is a little slice of heaven. I would recommend it to anyone. I'm finally moving from the area and I really don't know what I'm going to do. I came up from 3 hours away to have Jeanna do fun colors in my hair. Originally I was excited, she was able to accommodate my schedule and seemed great on the phone. When I got there, she was running late. Okay- no worries. She was really sweet, we had a good time. But she was definitely rushed. She didn't leave the lightener on long, and she didn't leave the dye on very long either. Anyway- when we were done, I was really happy. The purples and blues looked fabulous at the salon, she did a good job styling- though she didn't actually cut my hair. I paid for a cut and color; and she just trimmed off split ends. She left my really long hair with no layers, no style.. no nothing. But whatever. She asked me if I had a color safe shampoo at home, and I did not, so she handed me a bottle which I paid $25 for. My entire "cut", color and product + tip ran me close to $300. The biggest issue was that within a week, the color had faded noticeably. Within 10 days, the color was dusty and nasty looking- and I had only washed it 4 times, very carefully using the shampoo she sold me. I was stretching between washings as much as possible to try and preserve what was left of the color, but eventually gave up. When I started asking questions, the general commentary was- She rushed, didn't lighten my hair enough for the colors we were doing, didn't leave the dye on anywhere near long enough, used super hot water to rinse the dye out which causes the dye to fall out, and then to top it off- she sold me a shampoo full of sulphates. Which are a huge enemy to colored hair. For some reason, I trusted her to at least sell me the right product- but she did not. I will NEVER go back here, and if you want brightly colored hair for a week- I suggest you stop by. If you want to get your money's worth, stay far away. I had my hair done locally by a great lady, and I'm on 4 weeks of color that looks as good as it did the first day we did it. So I know it wasn't my hair, and the only thing I did wrong was trust the salon. Avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid. (The staff was friendly, if rushed. The salon space is cool. They have great decorations. This is not enough to justify a ridiculously expensive 2 hours of time that washes out in less than 2 weeks. I know full color wont last forever; but come on.) read more

Pretty much means, either grow my hair out like a hippie or find a new hair cutter. So being out of the market for the last 13 years, it was quite odd and somewhat strange trying to figure out what and where to go. And as I ponder this thought, I was well over 2 months of a hair cut and it was becoming an issue. Luckily for me, I was paying a visit at the Community Tap and noticed this cool looking garage made into a salon across the street - like the Hair Gods were looking out for me. Called them the next day and they set me up with Jeana. Once I got there, Jeana was the one with coolest hair and had her body inked up. She starts blow drying my hair and it is literally green tinted . Mentioned it to her and she said it's because of the toner .... When did green become white blonde? I have been going to her for a long time and she always knows what to do with my hair. I have crazy cowlicks that make some styling a pain in the butt. She always does something amazing, and I trust her enough to tell her "You can do anything you want!" and actually mean it! She is great. I have also seen Erin and she is fantastic as well. Waste of money. Terrible customer serice. I went in and told the stylist exactly what I wanted, platinum hair. I had already had platinum hair before the only issue was that I had a gold band where I had my roots touched up by a friend and roots that had grown out. I explained the band. The lady assured me she could fix it and that she could completely even out my tone. When she was later toning my hair she was talking to the lady next to her about spots in my hair not accepting the toner like the other parts had.. it was because she had not allowed the yellow band in my hair to lift enough. Instead of doing what she should have done and reapplying the bleach she toned it a second time. So what I ended up with was GREY hair with random splotched of gold in it.. not the even tone that the stylist had promised to achieve. When I went to ask that it get re-fixed (directly after it being done) The owner of the store began thumbing through my hair and told me that it was because "it was a process" that it wasn't their fault that "the toner would fade" "that it was too much to do in one time" (even though the stylist had assured me she would do it) and that "it was a lesson to not let my friends do my hair" and then laughed at me along with the other ladies at the desk. I went to another salon to get a second opinion and they confirmed it was because the golden parts were not lifted enough before toning and has multiple splotches of color throughout it now. Thw can not do platinum hair and when they make mistakes they are too proud to admit it, will talk down to you, will not offer to fix it. $128 dollars for grey/purple/gold splotched hair when I asked for platinum and no offers to fix it. I will most definitely be contacting the better business bureau. read more

She is only one who's been able to get my blond to be in "cool" tones instead of brassy yellow ones. Been there 3 times and the last time I waited 45 minutes to be seen before it was requested I wait an extra 15 minutes to which I complied. Today I showed up for my 12:30 pm appointment and left at 1:05 pm because I am not wasting another afternoon away from my family to wait in an establishment that clearly disregards their scheduling system they hold their clients to. I received a call from Debbie after I left and she told me that they call clients ahead of time when there is going to be a timing issue and she was sorry she didn't do that today. Not the salon for platinum blondes. I've been there three times, and it's the same old story...we'll tone that yellow out. Four days later, I'm a lemon head. My stylist was constantly consulting a senior stylist about how long I should process. I was put under heat lamps- NO! Go to Lindsey at Urban Nirvana on Woodruff Rd if you want an awesome icy blonde. It costs $20 more than I was paying at To Dye For, but at least you won't have to tone your hair at home. I have a pixie cut, and after coming home from the last visit, i found long hairs around my ears that hadn't been addressed so I had to cut them myself. I'm done with this place. read more

Based on the review I saw up here is what made me decide to have To Dye For Salon cut my hair. I was given Alison Cureton for my hair stylist. She gave me the absolute WORSE haircut I have ever had. Not only did she not do what we discussed before the haircut but she cut off a whole lot more that what I said. She also made me stand up to cut my hair, why I have no idea! I kinda felt like a dog the way I was treated during the process. I now know that she curled my hair afterwards so I wouldn't see her screw up. I paid $55 for the haircut and gave her a great tip just to go somewhere else 2 weeks later to shell out more money to fix my hair. Well my hair is going to take several months to get it to grow out to really be able to get the haircut I requested. I was not going to give them another chance to fix my hair, why would I? Don't go here if you really love your hair!!! Alison is the WORST EVER!!! The hir stylist I went to after took several pictures of my hair it was SO BAD!!! read more
