Dr Kamena & Staff RULE!!!! 5 stars plus infinity!!! SUPER FABULOUS & I just get an Honest vibe from them. Which unfortunately is hard to come by when searching for a dentist now a days. The facility is Very Nice and Accomodating, felt more like a "Dental Spa" - makes going to the dentist a "Treat", no exagerration either! There's a flat screen television at each dental chair that entertains you while getting work done. Which is also used to show what is going on in your mouth, very cool. This staff is super friendly. They're so patient when I ask tons of random questions. The cleanings are very gentle, and small talk feels genuine. They even remember details about me and my family that I shared in the last visit - they must take notes! I've noticed that a couple reviewers dislike that Hygenists do the cleaning work. I'm a little confused as to why that's a problem. That's LITERALLY what hygienists are supposed to do! And all 3 of the ones I've experienced at Murrieta Dental Care have been fantastic, and Dr. Kamena checks my teeth every time at the end. I've also spent time with the dental assistants in this office while having a number of procedures done. They too are very friendly, and I appreciate how relaxed they are. who wants to have medical procedures done by a team that is whirling around stressed out. that's when mistakes are made. It brings me great comfort that the team is not in emergency mode all the time. read more

This is a long story, so I will try to keep it short. We recently moved to Livermore and needed a new dentist. I continued going to the dentist that I had been seeing for the last couple of years since I had already scheduled some root canal/crown work. My husband searched for his dentist and with the help of yelp he found Dr. Kamena. In the meantime, I didn't know that my insurance had changed and that my dentist was no longer covered. I ended up paying way too much for my dental work (but when your teeth hurt you get pretty desperate for help). I continued to have pain that I suspected was from one of my crowns being too tall. I went back to my dentist a few times complaining of pain and he tried to help. He gave me antibiotics and tried sanding down the areas that looked too tall, but it didn't help. Then my husband recommended that I change to Dr. Kamena in Livermore since he really was pleased with the service and they are covered under our insurance. I called the office to see if they would see me and explained that my insurance had run out for the year. They got me in right away and took care of me. Dr. Kamena confirmed my suspicions that the new crown was too high and needed a little adjustment. I'm not sure how my other dentist missed that in all of my previous visits. Dr. Kamena made the adjustment to my teeth and I am actually eating lunch right now and chewing on both sides of my mouth! I look forward to my exam in January and I feel like I'm finally getting my tooth health back on track. Thank you Dr. Kamena, I just wish we found you sooner! read more

As a Retired member of the armed forces I have lived all over the country, and have been seen by several dentists over the years. Dr Kamena and his team of professionals are by far the best I have encountered. I was greeted by a friendly masked face at the front desk who was well prepared and knew exactly what my insurance covered. Brenda, the technician who escorted me throughout my stay was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Kamena went over all aspects of my x-rays. Presented his diagnosis, offered several options, explained each in detail and was excited and supportive with my decision. There was no pressure or push towards any of the options. My Livermore dentist just retired. My last visit was for a cleaning on their last day. I was informed at that time that i had 3 cavities, one of which may need a crown. YIKES! Thus I began the quick scramble to find a new dentist in town. I am a very fearful dental patient, who really dreads having any dental work done (even a cleaning). I had great dealings with the rest of the Kamena family (Scott is our family optometrist) and decided to take Dr. Todd's Yelp offer for a FREE consultation. I was able to get an appointment almost immediately. As soon as I entered his office I received multiple greetings from the reception desk staff. In fact, everyone in this office was extremely friendly and helpful, which helped calm my nerves. It was an added bonus that i got to watch the Olympics on a TV mounted to the examination chair. Dr. Kamena's smile and warm personality made me feel that I was in good hands. After not being able to see any cavities just by looking, he took x-rays using the latest technology. Just minutes later Dr. Todd shared them with me on the TV monitor in large detail. He analyzed at every inch of the photos, only to find that not only did I NOT need a crown (my biggest fear) but I DIDN'T even have a single cavity!!! WHAT A RELIEF!! Makes me wonder what my other dentist saw and now we question all treatments we had there. Dr. Kamena ended up recommending that I use an over the counter tooth paste for "sensitive teeth" to address the slight nerve exposure at my gums (the real cause of my discomfort) and gave me a free sample to try out. My consultation visit didn't cost a thing and Dr. Todd Kamena now has two new very happy patients, my husband and myself. I will actually look forward to going back in six months for a check-up. read more

Fun, modern office, short waiting times, young attractive assistants, competent medical care, and they are even upgrading to free wireless. It's true he has his assistants do the cleaning -- I have never been to a dentist where this is not the case. I do think the dentist should always be there to check their work and that is not always the case but I was asked in advance if I was OK with this so I cannot complain to what I agree to. As for getting in an accident in the parking lot -- really? You're going to blame the dentist because you don't know how to drive? Or if you have lousy credit and can't come up with a credit card to pay $800, you expect the dentist to loan you the balance? Unreasonable if you ask me. Anyhow, 5 stars from me, your mileage may vary. read more

I took my 1 year old daughter to see Dr Kamena today and he was AWESOME! The facility was very clean and provided excellent service. The waiting room had very comfy chairs along with a wide range of magazines. My daughter really liked the Dr. Sesuss books they had out. The assistant became my daugther's new friend. She was very warm and kid-friendly. Dr. Kamena was able to look at her teeth and give his advice. He did not force his way in nor did he force the friendship. What a great experience. Great dentist, really on top of modern dental care methods and equipment. The digital sensor x-ray system they have gives the patient a much lower dose! I was with this dental office for a few years. They did a good job in regular cleaning because it's done by the friendly nurses (that's the extra star). However for treatments it's never satisfactory. I had a deep pocket in gum and the doctor assured me an anti-bacteria shot would improve the situation. After spending ~100bucks plus insurance coverage, this pocket grew from 5mm to 8mm after the treatment! I asked a few times how to reduce the pocket, the doctor just kept saying "Nothing can be done. You can only maintain the way it is". I switched to another dentist, and with some good care the 8mm pocket has been down to 3mm! Never go to this dental office any more! read more

I was diagnosed with two cavities right before the Pandemic hit in march of 2019. I simply can't afford to get any of my loved ones sick, so I had a lot of anxiety and had been putting off getting them fixed, as I did not want to needlessly expose myself. But the pain got so bad in my tooth that I had to bite the bullet and face my fears. The Staff was amazing with all the precautions they took to keep both parties safe, they all have so much PPE gear on. I really appreciated it, as I know that PPE gets uncomfortable to wear all day. I was really nervous about being so exposed but felt great after seeing it up close. I have been coming to Dr. Kamena for years... so I know he is a great dentist. But they took precautions above and beyond what I was expecting. Not to mention my tooth feels great now that it's fixed. read more

Awesome Dentist! This place really knows how to take care of it's customers. The first time that I visited was in July. I am a big Tour de France fan and was bummed that my appointment fell right in the middle of one of the broadcasts. But, what did I find when I got to the office? Dr Kamena has flatscreens not just in the waiting room, but in the examination chairs! To top it off, when you need to lay back in the chair, the TV can articulate onto the ceiling! I had the best dental exam of my life! When the exam was over, I didn't want to go because the race was still on! Reluctantly, I left the exam chair. I stopped by the washroom on my way to the receptionist and, low and behold, A FLATSCREEN IN THE BATHROOM!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Oh, and he is an awesome dentist. Even without the TVs. read more

I was looking for a dentist who would do some crowns I knew I needed done and allow me to spread out my out of pocket costs. Dr. Kamena came well recommended by several friends and was willing to help my family out during a difficult time and let us make payments for the work between the two appointments required for a crown. His staff is very nice as is he. His office is clean, warm and comforting with all equipment appearing to be new and up to date. I had an appointment last week to replace a crown. Previously to Dr. Kamena replacing this crown there was a LARGE gap where food got caught...lots of food. I couldn't go anywhere without my water pik, the only way to get the food stuck in there. I had told my previous dentist the problem but he never suggested that the crown needed to be replaced. I was so excited when I got home and was able to eat celery, salmon .....without the pain of food stuck between the tooth and gums. It kind of angers me that my previous dentist (of 10 years) never thought of a solution !! The very first appt. I had with Dr. Kamena he said he could fix it for me !!! and he did and I'm once again a happy girl !! read more

Dr. Kamena is a very talented dentist. I always appreciate the friendly and competent staff and the comfortable atmosphere of the entire office. The equipment is modern, and getting a text reminder of your appointment is nice too! The downside is that it might be difficult to get an appointment that is not far in advance. As always excellent service. Dr. Kamena is a terrific dentist and has a personality that won't quit. He found my upper molar with hairline cracks and several very large cracks that would have sooner or later broken off causing me to have to have a root canal and then a crown. With this discovery I do not have to have anything but the crown saving me a painful procedure along with a large savings not having to do that particular procedure. He is awesome! I had to find a new dentist a couple of years ago when we moved to Livermore...embarrassing to admit but I had not been to the dentist in almost 10 years; my husband the same! I was terrified of the dentist but knew it was important to get in...well I had much work that needed to be done and deep cleanings. But, I kept coming back like they said to get things better. I request the same hygienist when I make my apt. so she sees my progress. Although, they all are good! Well, I was so excited the other day because I finally have noticed a difference- I was so excited that I told my husband I was so pleased with the dental office for keeping me going I needed to write a review! I will start off by letting everyone know I am the biggest baby when it comes to going to the dentist! ...Even though I am a grown woman. I had some bad experiences growing up. I have had my share of dental work, maybe a few people's share of dental work. Being able to come to Dr. Kamena's office has really helped me overcome my fear of dentists. Everyone from the receptionists, to the hygienists to Dr. Kamena himself is very nice, helpful, willing to answer any question I may have. I recently went in for a deep cleaning, and they are no where near fun. But Melissa took complete care of me, stopping when I was nervous, explaining everything she was doing while she was doing it so I didn't freak out, she was very patient with me. Love this office! The entire staff from the minute you arrive is so welcoming. The office is bright, friendly and as you leave they have a machine that provides free drinks! They have a TVs in each room for you to take your mind off why your there (if your nervous). They have current magazines and another big TV in waiting room. They always run on time so no long waiting times. Dr Kamena and his staff make you feel like your their only appointment, never rushing along your appointment.
