These guys were amazing. Todd and Tim are outstanding at leading this team. I communicated directly with Tim and he always kept me up to date on the progress. They were very considerate about my property and did no damage. There will always be a spot or two where a tree falls and leaves a mark on the ground, but it's very minor to me. The team worked together really well and everyone just seemed to know their own responsibilities. There was no playing around. The took up all the limbs the day they cut them, and I am sure that is a part of their usual practice. I could understand that they might have to come back a day later if the job were a lot bigger than mine. They even used a blower to collect the sawdust that fell in the yard. I had been referred to another company, but saw that they and several other companies had dismal reviews. The excellent reviews on this company made me call them, and I am glad they did. These guys were not willing to give me an appointment as to when they would deliver the half cord of wood after we agreed upon the price. Over the phone the comment was always "we will let you know at the end of the day if we can be there tomorrow morning". (It was early afternoon during that conversation.) No call came in at the end of the evening. A call from this company comes in the following morning asking me if I am ready for them to come by in 15 minutes to deliver the wood. They provided me with no advance warning time to meet their requirements of paying either by cash or a check ONLY. I have no problem with that, but I would like to have a advance notice, so I can go to the bank and get their money. I stopped writing personal checks long ago. Additionally, the representative initially told me (via phone), that a credit card payment was OK. as long as I pay the additional percentage fee for using a credit card. We agreed. I left my work place and began driving home. 10 minutes later, he called me back and said the owner would not accept credit card payment. Very rude, and inconsiderate treatment from someone, (who I presume) hopes to grow his small business after such a poor example of customer service. read more

My backyard includes a paver patio with a fireplace, a waterfall, two dozen various sized lights, a Pickleball court, benches, storage, and other trees and foliage. The team assigned to my tree excavation handled this project with great care and attention to detail. The team made it look like child's play with their skills to take down a 100-year-old Tulip Poplar that was just massive in size. I was calling around getting estimates for having a large pine tree removed and some branch trimming along power lines. Todd was very responsive and came out the next day! His estimate was very fair and much more competitive than some others in the area. We scheduled removal for the following week after it dried up a little bit. His team was very professional and quick! They had the tree down, branches trimmed, and my yard cleaned up in about 3-4 hours. I was headed out of town and Todd told me we would schedule stump grinding for when I returned. He wouldn't take payment until the job was finished. Timely, responsive and professional all around! I have to say, I am really impressed with Todd Pate Tree Service. I had two trees taken down over the course of 2.5 days, one of which was huge and sick located in-between tree different buildings (homes and a detached garage). They couldn't fit a crane or heavy equipment in the area and had to fell the tree in chunks. They dropped the big tree precisely into a tight location despite it leaning hard in the wrong direction using ropes and a tractor as a fall guide. Out of all of this work, there was one tiny piece of damage to a shingle on the drip edge of my garage's roof which was repaired without denying it, without a fight, without some long wait... they just pointed it out and fixed it as if it never happened before they left on the final day. I am honestly baffled at how precise they were dropping the tree chunks! On top of this, they left my property and the property next door in better shape than it was before they arrived: they blew the saw dust from my roof, replaced the fencing they removed better than it was before they got here, rake-resurfaced my stone driveway to look better than it was before they got here, picked up all the sticks that inevitably fall during this process on every surrounding property, and more. They worked with me as I wrangled the neighbors to move their cars and even knocked on doors for me. Todd, Tim, and every worker was really nice, cordial, courteous, and communicative. I was very worried about my neighbor's house being damaged in this process and it wasn't, and I'm grateful for that. They even left the stumps really low (I didn't pay for grinding) which I'm grateful for as that saves me a ton of work later. Great job, guys! read more

had a bid from another Tree company but for one reason or another they kept pushing the date back and back. After 6 weeks after signing the contract, I was driving down Mt. Calvary rd in Marietta and saw a little sign for Todd Pate. Called and we had a date within a week. Then the original company called back 6 days ago and said they are coming that day. Had to cancel Todd Pate. But one week later, the original company still a no-show, Troy the manager said they could be there tomorrow. YES! YES! The team was concise, detailed and did what I asked, but not over the top. One of there saws broke and the supervisor climbed the front tree to trim the limbs, like a pro. read more

We had a 100+ ft dead poplar tree that was dangerous to take down. What impressed us was that Todd Pate's service immediately responded and sent someone out with a reasonable quote. We still got several more quotes just to make sure that they were the best choice. 2 companies that we contacted wouldn't do the work because of the level of difficulty and risk. One company was ridiculously expensive. 2 companies missed several appointments. 2 companies quotes were comparable to Todd Pate's service . . . very reasonable, too. We live in a neighborhood that has had a lot of tree loss and even a tornado. We have seen our share of tree experts from the county as well as private services. Todd Pate's team is the best we have seen. Many teams will drop trunks and branches but in this case every section was gently lowered to a helper below. In the past, we have experienced pricey damage from other tree services but Todd Pate's service did NOT damage our stone work, septic system or landscaping. What made their tree climber even more unique was the kindness he showed to his team. He put their safety at a priority. He made sure to tell the guys below where the limbs and trunk were going to come. He forewarned if there was any risk that a dead branch might break on the way down. In return, the team below was very complimentary of the tree climber. They encouraged him and expressed appreciation of his amazing skills. They all worked hard to remove the debris and had to manually carry our tree remains up a steep hill. I had Todd's Tree Service remove a 80 - 90 foot Oak tree in the backyard on 8/15/13. I had two other quotes and their's was $600 cheaper than one and $700 than the other. Based on the significantly lower price and the fact they did not have many reviews on various sites, I was a bit skeptical but figured I'd take a chance and use the difference in price versus the others to clean up if it didn't work out. I'm glad I chose them. They did an excellent job and were careful to use ropes to lower the tree branches/cuts in order to not damage my sprinkler system or other tress around. They also did a great job in the clean-up process and hauled away every last piece that was cut down. I would highly recommend them and use them again. I also wanted to add that I have a small hill in my backyard where the area around the tree is about 8 feet lower than the main level. The two other companies wanted to bring heavy equipment in to move the cut limbs/trunk up the hill which would have caused some damage to my lawn especially with all the rain we've had this summer. The crew damaged both my shed and pulled the power line guide wire to my house. They also left several dead branches in a large tree that will require them to return to complete the job. It's now been more than 2 weeks and they have yet to return to address either problem despite multiple promises to do so. We've carved out time to meet them and then they don't show. We recently had some storms damage a few pine trees and unfortunately one ended up falling on the neighbors house. I needed to have the damaged trees removed and decided to have two others taken down as well. I got quotes from 6 different people. They were all over the place and some refused to do anything but use a crane which I did not think was necessary. When I called Todd he came out the next day to provide a quote. He explained exactly how each tree would be removed. He provided a quote in writing and proof of insurance. Nobody else did. The job was scheduled and they showed up right on time. They had a full crew working together and they got the entire job finished in one day. They were careful not to damage other landscaping and cleaned up before they left. I will definitely give Todd a call when I need to cut down more (and I have plenty of pine trees that will have to come down eventually). read more

Everything you hope for from a company in this (and any) business...honest, highly skilled, fairly priced, efficient, thorough, positive, every member of their team friendly as can be. Tim came over the same day I called and gave me a what I feel was a very reasonable quote. Super nice guy, professional, completely can-do attitude, detail-oriented. They removed a large poplar from our back yard that was difficult to get to (and turned out to be hollow all the way up, a dangerous job) along with another smaller hickory and some general trimming up work. Jacob, the climber, did an impressive job of bringing down the trees in a way that caused virtually no damage to trees lower down.
