I reluctantly tried out their free one-on-one class & did a lot of observing of the actual class going on. I'm not a gym junkie . I'm a lap swimmer & Zumba dancer. I've always considered myself to be on the weak side & I've been told that to my face. I joined immediately without thinking twice . If something intimidates you, that means you probably should do it. I'm now about 6 months in & although I have a long ways to go, I'm noticing big results physically, emotionally & mentally. Oh, about 2 months after signing up, the pandemic hit & my apartment gym closed. Guess who stayed open (with rules of course)?? Yep. If it wasn't for this place, I would have been in a bad spot physically & emotionally. PROS:1) amazing coaches who work with you & don't make you feel like a fool when everyone else is bench pressing heavy weight & you just do the bar. They don't make you conform to what everyone else is doing. 2) workouts are always different & you can see the day before what the workout will be (so you can prepare or skip...lol) 3) lots of class times every day of the week! 4) if you can't do something, you will be given an alternative & no one in the class will look at you funny 5) people in class are nice & will help you out 6) definite mood booster. I can have a crappy day & after a workout, my endorphins are kicked in. CONS: 1) you will have days where you will be very sore and/or have trouble walking (is that really a bad thing?!) 2) there might be things that really intimidate you, but you will eventually get over it if you keep showing up 3) you won't start to look like The Rock right away, but you can picture him in your head to motivate you to get through the workout . LOL!! :))

It's not full of pink and flowers (although I wouldn't be opposed Haha!) but it's very strength focused for women only in a smaller space that makes one feel like she's in her own private gym. Even when there's a handful working out a once it's obvious the overall vibe is positive bettermen. When it's busier, the feeling is energetic cheerfulness and even as a sole workout the gym makes you feel like a boss! I love it and I love feeling like I get to belong there!

The sessions are designed to achieve specific fitness goals of each client and take into consideration individual ailments such as arthritis. The personalized approach and attention to correct form are what set Next Step apart from other fitness studios. I've used personal trainers a few other times in a big gym setting, but the privacy here makes a difference. As I go through the exercises, we talk about a lot of health information which keeps me aware of other health oriented topics. I will say that Next Step is kind of pricey, but the cost of bad health is very pricey too. I think of this as an investment in myself.

Stacie was doing the coaching herself and she was so so friendly, contrary to some other CrossFit games celebs I've met. I definitely recommend this as a drop in to out of towners but also as a gym for newbies. Just in case you haven't had the opportunity to try it yet be sure to always stay hydrated and had enough food to eat prior to your workouts and throughout the week. I learned this the hard way. Also, if you do try it be sure to keep the temp around 125 when you first start out and of course go easy on yourself, your body needs to get acclimated to the heat and working out in it. Take your time and feel the warrior within emerge! What I love about this location at Shadow Lake is how large it is compared to the one I've been to at Midtown. There are a pretty decent amount of saunas with dedicated saunas for certain 30 minute workouts which make it nice when scheduling them. I also like that the FX zone is a pretty expansive area as well which include battle ropes too! I just stopped by this morning for a Hot Blast workout and saw that the vending machine and filtered water dispenser were recently installed! Nice!! What's also really great is you can purchase protein bars, drinks, liquid IV powders, energy powders, workout bands and gloves right from the vending machine if you attend during non-staffed hours. They give you a code to pop in when you'd like to go at a different time and they have special necklaces with buttons you press if you happen to need help and no one's there. I also love the manager Brian here, he's super friendly and helped me set up my new membership when they were offering founding memberships. I'm excited to pair these workouts with my lifting workouts I do at my normal gym.

this is the PLACE!!! Gosh, I could say 100 different things about what I love about PLNK but I'll…read moretry and keep it brief. I saw an ad online for your first class free and I thought why not. Walking in I was honestly super intimidated -- the machines look terrifyingly confusing and everyone looks like they know what they are doing, so naturally I was shaking in my boots not knowing what to expect. However, upon walking in I was greeted with smiles and they took me to my machine to show me a few of the moves and how to operate it before it started. I had a little card with my name on it welcoming me, a sweat towel, and a free boxed water. I had to buy grippy socks at the front desk because I didn't have any (& didn't know I needed them) that were about $15. They had me placed next to a gal who was a pro at PLNK, and thank goodness they did otherwise I would have been absolutely lost. Once the clock starts, there is no stopping. The instructor is always super clear on giving step by step directions to follow so you can understand even if you've never done it before. There are mirrors all around the room, so worst case scenario you can just look at the reflection & see what others are doing and follow suit. Olivia was my instructor for the first PLNK class ever, and she crushed it (or me? Well.. both). The next morning my abs were so sore I couldn't sit up in bed.. literally. I was d e c e a s e d. I really like Pilate-type movements because it's more gentle on the joints, but I don't like the ease or pace of Pilates which is why I love PLNK so much. It is easy on the joints but also has resistance to grow and tone your muscles & get you in amazing shape in no time. This is the first group class I have ever genuinely enjoyed AND seen results from (I have tried many yall.. so that's a big statement for me). The instructors are sweet and the facility is spotless and clean. You will love your experience here!! Tanya and Olivia are definitely the hardest, I haven't been to all the instructors yet but Meghan is awesome for first timers! Your first class is free, try it out!!! TIPS : - they will probably put you next to someone who is well versed in PLNK so you can have a constant guide next to you. Feel free to ask them to do it as well if you're really concerned! - buy your grippy socks before on Amazon if you want to save a few bucks - watch a few YouTube videos on the megaformer before you take your first class to give you an idea of what you'll be doing - stretch prior to your class - don't be scared, you'll do great!!

I wish the instructor spent a little more time helping me. It was a bit overwhelming, but that may also be a normal reaction considering it was my first time. Class overall is very fast paced. It was a great workout, however. I wish the studio was still available through ClassPass because I do not see myself purchasing classes separately through them.
