Best dental experience ever!! I have had lots of different dentists over the years including military, medieval (which were both very similar), my dad tying a tooth to a Buick, and most recently a local outfit with a Soviet-style "production line" model of care. You probably know which outfit I'm talking about. I think there out of Colorado. In there office I felt exposed. Laying back in the chair, I could see a fellow just a few feet away, getting his smile fixed. I could look the other direction and see a lad of about 12 years of age, he was squirming around quite a bit, and making the guttural noises you would expect in the Marquis de Sade's playroom. I think he was overplaying his role. Back to my right, the other guy was snoring... until he wasn't. Every few minutes he would slip into the land of nod, and do his impression of a Kirby vacuum cleaner with the wallpaper attachment, working its way through a sea of gravel. The point is: I got to see and hear all of this! This is a medical procedure! There is a drill, a fist, and what I think was a license plate from Minnesota in my mouth! This should be a bit more private. While in Dr. Whitlock's care I had a totally different experience. Though I was not in a completely closed room, I was the only patient in the room I was in. I could not see or hear any other procedures going on. Only the awesome soundtrack from the overhead speakers. Awesome tunes that I still have on vinyl!! Quite comforting. Lets head back to Colorado for a moment. I had a crown put on that took multiple visits to have placed. I don't know if that's the right word, but "installed" makes it sound like I got a new garbage disposal. Of course "placed" makes it sound like I got a new slab of concrete. Anyway, the thing broke, and I don't know when. I guess I must have swallowed a hunk of it. I called them to discuss replacement options, and I was told that in the future they would use a higher grade of crown. Keep in mind that it took two weeks to fabricate the inferior product that cost more that my slightly used lawn mower. It was important to me, it is a molar all the way in the back, and that's where Fig-Newtons wind up right before they disappear forever. I could not however, stomach the idea that they offered me a superior product only after failure. Okay back to Dr. Whitlock's. There are some striking differences that I need to highlight: No wait on the crown. They are fabricated on-the-spot, utilizing cutting edge water-jet technology! I am not just saying this because i want to use more hyphens than is necessary, though I do believe that the hyphen is often overlooked, and typically mistaken for a dash. I am bringing this up, because I didn't have to wait two weeks, nor did I spend the extra hour for an impression to be made. There was no impression at all!! I mean there was am impression made, but not of my teeth. There were actually two: there was Rich Little singing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" as Johnny Carson, and there was the digital, 3-D, image captured of the inside of my mouth. Far more accurate, and less time and material consuming, and it allows me to sneak in another hyphen. I was i and out in two hours. New tooth. No Fig-Newton backlog anymore. I need to do a shout out to Annie Oakley, not her real name, but that's what we're gonna' call he, 'cause she's a sharp-shooter (love that hyphen)! I didn't think that my insurance would cover a crown replacement within a designated time frame, and I was under the impression (no Rich Little performance or a mouth mold) that I would have to pay the full price. Miss Oakley called the folks at the Colorado place, and determined that my memory was faulty (not because of Colorado related legalization, just forgot). My insurance would in fact cover my new crown, because ample time had passed from the original placement/installation date. I would have missed that and just wrote the check. We can't have Fig-Newtons stacking up back there! Miss Oakley's diligence saved me hundreds of dollars! All considered, and in short, I have saved money, time and pain, not because of my diligence, research or hard work, but because of the efforts from the efforts of Dr. Whitlock and his staff. read more

My husband and I have been going to Todd Whitlock Dentistry for several years now. We switched from another office in town that we were not happy with, and could not be more pleased with Dr. Whitlock and his staff. Like many people, going to the dentist is one of my least favorite things, however this office has completely changed my opinion. The staff is so kind and courteous, they always run on time, are very knowledgeable, and upfront about their billing. Dr. Whitlock spends time with each patient and is always easy to ask questions too. During procedures he takes time to explain what he is going to do, and the staff and the environment really help you to relax and help minimize anxiety. Additionally, the hygienists are so gentle and so nice. I have seen Vicki every time I go, and she is absolutely wonderful! The "spa like" environment is clean and inviting. So thankful we made the switch, I will never change dentists again! read more

I have been a patient for 21 years. My husband for almost 10. That alone should say something! Todd and his staff have always been amazing. From making me feel comfortable as a child, to working with my crazy schedule through school and now work, as well as providing excellent care. The hygienists are thorough and provide helpful and educational information to help improve my dental health. Todd always has a smile on, asks me about life, which brings a nice personal touch to what could otherwise be an experience that most try to avoid, and always makes sure to explain everything he or his staff will be doing, before it happens. The front office staff always know who I am as soon as I walk in the door, always greet me with a smile and make sure to do everything they can to work with me on scheduling. Awesome! My dentist retired and referred me to Dr. Whitlock. I am SOOOO glad that he did. This morning, I had my first visit to Whitlock Dentistry and it was great. I was treated as if I had been a long time patient, not a "newby". Everyone was friendly and thorough and made me very comfortable. The exam I received from Dr. Whitlock was comprehensive and he left me with NO questions. Having come from a dental background, I can appreciate a good practitioner and the professionalism with which the office is run. Dr. Whitlock and his staff are terrific! Dr. Whitlock is the best in all the surrounding counties. His office is clean, modern and high tech, which I love. His front office staff is the friendliest around and will help with any insurance or scheduling issues. The hygienists, Vicki and Brittany, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, they really know their stuff! Dr. Todd is gentle and all his assistants are "expanded function" and do exceptional work. His office is the only one to go to in the area. I recommend them to everyone I know. I have been going to Todd Whitlock for over a year and a half now and it has been nothing but positive. Their office is clean and relaxing. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, while Dr. Whitlock is very personable and able to answer any questions you may have. The entire staff seems to put an emphasis on being on the cutting edge of technology and the dentistry field which is refreshing. We had called to make an appointment for our son, and as I hadn't seen a dentist in years, I decided to make an appointment for myself and face the music. Before I came to Dr. Whitlock, I would switch dentists a lot because I did not think that they were very good for me. I had some bad experiences with them and never wanted to go to the dentist because I was afraid. Dr. Whitlock is completely different - when I'm there, I always feel welcome and comfortable. The oral hygienists are all so kind and comforting. Their office is very comfortable and pleasant to be in. Dr. Whitlock is as good as it gets. Dr. Whitlock is my fourth dentist during the 13 years I have lived in Bloomington, and Todd is at the top of the heap. His staff is qualified and efficient, he is super qualified, helpful, and patient with patient questions. One of my prior dentists was also excellent but is now retired. Always a great, professional experience at Whitlocks office. Great staff and hygienists, clean contemporary "spa like" office environment, etc. They truly take the "nerve factor" out of getting dental cleaning and work done. My 10 yr old son had a horrible experience at a local dentist office a few years ago, so we made the switch to Whitlock's office then. So thankful we did.
