The oral hygienists are super friendly, conscious, dextrous and caring. He was very gentle at pulling out a healthy tooth I didn't want anymore. He didn't recommend it but I hated the food getting stuck in there. He pulled it out with literally no pain or anything. Sometimes they clean your teeth with the water jet which signals every nerve in your body to sense pain but afterwards, it is worth it. I recommend this place 100% and I hate the orthodontist. I really like him because he's always straight to the point, very knowledgeable, and cool.

I loved my dentist in California and so I took my time finding a dentist in Bloomington. (plus I just didn't want to go) Dr Arnold's reviews were glowing, and even though my partner has a different dentist here in B-town, I decided to try Dr Arnold based on Yelp reviews. The office is a bit hard to find if you aren't familiar with the Eastside of town. It is sort of behind the now-closed Marsh store, in a mini mall next to a dance studio and a waxing salon. Plenty of parking in the lot. Courtney was my hygienist today and she was wonderful. She listened to my ramblings about how much I hate the dentist. She was mellow and I felt like she gave my teeth a very thorough cleaning. She was just the right combination of quiet and talkative during the cleaning. (my hygienist in California was very chatty and it's hard to answer questions with sharp instruments in your mouth). There is a tv on the ceiling so you can watch while you have your cleaning. Courtney caught on fast that the show on the History channel was about mass murderers (not a very calming show) and she switched the channel to ESPN for me. Next Dr Arnold (Bill) came in and introduced himself. He was great. Very down to earth and approachable. We chatted a bit about California and then he began his exam. Again, great exam and he gave me advice about some tooth sensitivity I have been experiencing. Next appointment is six months from now and even though I will still be freaked out, I won't be AS freaked out. Definitely recommend. If you have been putting off a dental exam, go see Dr Arnold.

I had some composite bonding done here awhile back. I left a message after hours to see if there was any possibility they might be able to see me the very next day to repair a small chip, as I had a formal event that weekend and was hoping to have it fixed before then. They squeezed me in during their LUNCH hour the next day to repair my tooth! Their customer service is wonderful and their staff are always so incredibly kind and helpful! The initial appointment where the impression of my teeth was taken was a bit weird. It was late in the day, there was a big remodel happening at their office and a patient fell down on their way out of the exam room. It wasn't a great first experience. The appointment to have the crown put on my implant went much better. Sadie, who was working with Dr. Whitlock, was very nice. Dr. Whitlock did a great job explaining to me what he was doing. The procedure was painless (except for the sting of the Novacaine shot) and the crown fit perfectly. I will be going back soon for a cleaning. Happy to have found a new dentist.

She explained everything she was doing. She then gave me a really excellent cleaning. I honestly felt like the first REAL cleaning my teeth had since moving to Bloomington (even though I just had one at my other dentist's office four months ago). Dr. Shirley examined my teeth and talked to me about a filling that I have lost recently. He was friendly, explained everything that would be done when they replace the filling and spent a good amount of time with me, answering all my questions. Andrea explained the cost of the upcoming filling procedure so that there will not be any surprises when I return. Large office, plenty of parking. A bit weird getting in and out of the lot due to road work but that should be completed soon. All in all, a really great experience and I am one of those people who really HATES going to the dentist. Now I just need to call and cancel my cleaning appointment at my former dentist's office, because Bloomington Family Dental has won me over. I am an avid Yelp user and the negative reviews of BFD had kept me away. Regardless, don't let the negative reviews sway you.
