Despite our online reservation being missed we got seats right away and enjoyed a great meal with our friends the Eisenhauer's. They started with oysters, and we ordered focaccia and the Mezza platter to share. Again my falafel was so good and plentiful I brought home half. The side salad was delicious & ample. Hubby's Mafalde, our friend Tiff's gemelli and Andy's rigatoni left everyone satisfied and too full to attempt dessert. We love the freshness of each menu item. The food was great, wine recommendations where lovely, cocktails where good. Service was great with the proper amount of spacing between dishes. Ambiance was good. Sat at the high top family style table. You can also sit at normal tables. Risotto balls were delicious! The lasagna was so light and refreshing, it is not like your normal heavy Italian lasagnas. CeAsar salad was also very good. I would skip on the roasted red pepper hummus next time. It was good but not needed. I would love to try the Babganesh however they were sold out. For good reason I'd imagine as everyone around me tried to order it. All in all a great spot, and would recommend if you'd like to get out of portland for a meal. read more

Vesta is definitely a place to visit and enjoy. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. I could only eat half and got another lunch the next day. Staff are very friendly and helpful. While the menu is limited, there is enough variety for everyone to find something. They also have a very unique wine list, which will bring us back to try more of the list. read more

Been wanting to come here because the bartender that used to work in different place opens this restaurant. The place located in the old Trudy bird's establishment. The menu selection is kinda east meet west. Got tabbouleh, chicken swarma and they also have lasagna, rigatoni etc. usually not a fries person, for some reason their fries menu catch my eyes. Glad I did, it has some herbs mixed in. Tabouleh is excellent Best to order and share bunch of food so we can try others. Got chicken swarma, lasagna and gemmeli. I have to fight my chicken swarma being stolen by my friend because it's so good. Everything is delicious. Ordered couple of draft cocktails and all are epic. Bill came $150 not included tip yet with 5 adult beverages on top of the email. It's very decent. I might also used to with astronomical old port price it kinda made me feel everywhere else is decent price. It's quite busy for Thursday night so better make reservation for the prime time. Vesta has something really special going on, and I really think (and hope!) they're going to thrive. Our recent dinner was almost perfect, which says a lot considering they haven't been open for long. We never visited the restaurant that was here before, so this was our first time in the space, and wow, it's gorgeous. Cozy, romantic, and beautifully decorated. Every detail felt intentional, and it really elevated the whole experience. The menu leans Italian with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences woven throughout. Such a great mix, and it led to us wanting to try everything. Focaccia next to tabbouleh salad? Yes, please. Even picking drinks was tough. They have a solid (and affordable) cocktail list, but we stuck with wine. It wasn't the best bottle, but for $40, no major complaints. For apps, we went with the suppli (their take on arancini), focaccia, and parsnip soup. The suppli was a steal at $3 each, perfectly cooked and generous in size. So glad we got two, because they were too good to share. The focaccia, on the other hand, was a letdown. I didn't necessarily expect it warm, but in Maine, "room temp" basically means cold, which wasn't ideal. The parsnip soup was phenomenal. Then came the entrees, and things got interesting. We debated pizza vs. pasta and went with pasta. My husband asked about portions and mentioned he was really hungry. He was between the rigatoni and the tortelloni, and the server really hyped up the tortelloni... so he went with that. When it arrived, we were shocked. Seven pieces. Not particularly big ones, either. Yes, it was delicious, but for $27, it didn't feel like it was worth it. The whole dish was a little odd, sitting in a soupy sauce that didn't really know what it wanted to be. Meanwhile, my chicken piccata was fantastic and the total opposite experience. Great portion size, flavorful, and I even shared some with my still-hungry-after-seven-pieces husband... We had the apple pie and ice cream for dessert, which was pretty good. Service was great, and overall, we had an awesome dinner. Would we come back? Absolutely. The menu concept is great, and for the quality, it felt like a good value (except for the tortelloni). With a bottle of wine, tax, and a 20% tip, we spent $150 for two, which we thought was really fair. Next time, we're going for the pizza... or I might just get that chicken piccata again. Coming from an Italian-Syrian family, the foods and flavors of Italy and the Levant bring back warm memories of time together with loved ones; so, when I saw an article in the local paper of a new restaurant featuring Italian and Levant style foods I was all in. We certainly weren't disappointed. Mike, Kristen and chef Fakhouri have made a delightful place for casual dining with typical street foods reminding us of our visits to Rome and family gatherings. Since we arrived around aperitivo time, we decided to begin with typical aperitivo foods such as Suplí, Labneh, and focaccia as well as a Negroni. What a start. The Negroni was one of the best I ever had outside of Italy perfectly chilled with a garnish of orange. The suplí, a deep friend rice ball stuffed with cheese, was cooked perfectly--not greasy, crispy outside and melted cheese on the inside. The Labneh was a nice preparation of yogurt and fresh pita bread and outstanding olive oil, smooth and grassy with a slight peppery finish. Another outstanding dish is their focaccia. Light and spongy made in-house by Kristen. Since we missed lunch, we decided to order the falafel pita and the chicken shawarma with fries. The portions were generous but what made them outstanding was their in-house pickled turnips and onion! The shawarma had a nice amount of cumin and balanced with the Lebanese style pickle. We finished our late lunch with a perfectly poured espresso, rich, wonderful crema, and no bitterness. Service was attentive and friendly and the owner and staff welcoming and informative. This is a great addition to the food scene just north of Portland and we plan to return to review some of their other main courses-- pizza and pasta (hard to find good carbonara north of Boston)-- and we are looking forward to trying their other offerings. The only thing better than the food is the overall vibe - it's the perfect place to have lively conversations with close friends and family while enjoying a meal. The owners are always around, checking in with customers and ensuring everyone is happy, and the servers are responsive, friendly, and genuinely happy to serve. A small side of tzatziki would be an excellent way to improve the ratio. My husband enjoyed his meatball cutlet sandwich and the fries were perfectly crunchy. My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary here. It was our first visit, and will hardly be our last! We've lived in North Yarmouth 25 years - raised our kids, graduated them from Greely, and watched the inevitable changes, accelerated by Covid, somewhat fearfully. We had an early reservation so we could experience the full expertise of the kitchen, and were not disappointed. Appetizers of Artichoke-Green Chili soup and Batatta Hara fries were interesting and "different" in the best of ways. The Kibbeh entree was delightful & satisfying, and highlights the Lebanese heritage of the very accomplished chef. The lasagna was extremely flavorful, and exceptional enough to make a dish that one can make at home worth ordering (and we like to cook!). We finished with house made Boboli & Miletti (an Italian liqueur that was new to us - a great pairing!), and cappuccino. We're happy to report that Vesta is the right menu, the right ambiance, the right price point, in the right location to be a long term asset to the community. It strikes the perfect balance for this town - welcoming to all, reasonably priced, high quality food - and they do take out! The core Romanesque staples on the menu will stay (as will the Kibbeh, yeah!) while there will be a slow rotation of other menu items to keep things "fresh" over time. It's the sort of place that can fill the role of "local hang out" while at the same time delivering a fine dining experience - a trick that Vesta pulls off with style & grace. This is our second visit to Vesta in the past 3 weeks. Our first visit we were excited to focus primarily on the plates from the Levant region of the the Mediterranean, but this time we want to try their pasta entrees. We were excited to discover that their pasta is made in-house and that their dishes are as authentically Italian as you can get this side of Italy. I say this knowing there are numerous fine Italian-American restaurants, but few that come close to what you will find in Italy-- and Vesta is one! Few people can match Mike's skill at making the perfect aperitivo and again he did not disappoint making a fabulous negroni. We began our meal with their classic Roman street food, Suplì, the smaller cousin to the Sicilian Arancini, made with risotto cooked in tomato passata, filled with cheese, and fried to perfection. We chose their Bucatini and Gremelli for our pasta dishes. The Bucatini is really Bucatini all'Amatriciana, another Roman staple, featuring home made pasta with guanciale (like cured bacon, but much better than bacon), tomato, Calabrian peppers, and pecorino cheese. The pasta was perfectly cooked (al dente) and the Amatriciana sauce well balance between the sweetness of the tomatoes and the slight kick of heat from the chilis. The Gremelli, a dish of pasta, cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil, and parmigiana was light and fresh--very different from the heavy red sauce many associate with Italian cuisine. Along with a side fresh focaccia to sop up the remaining bits of sauce, our bowls were pretty clean when we finished. We ended our meal by sharing their tiramisu and espresso. Service was friendly and having met Mike and Ramsey at our previous visit, it was like having Sunday diner with family. It's a great accessible location (especially for folks north of Portland) with plenty of parking. The decor is open and comfortable with a long community table for gatherings for friends or small groups. My husband got the lasagna and it was very good. I got the chicken shawarma sandwich. It was dry, very little chicken and the pickled vegetables in the sandwich were cut large. The hand cut fries were mostly over cooked. The atmosphere is ok but a little noisy. I did like the long family style table. Will we try it again? Maybe. read more

We just had our first (of many) meals at Vesta, and we could not be more pleased. The concept Lebanese/Italian fusion is unique, authentic, and surprisingly intuitive, quite reminiscent of Sicilian cuisine. For appetizers, we got the focaccia (made in-house), labnah (a citrusy yogurt dip) with pita, and suppli (fried risotto with mozzarella), and they were all incredible. For dinner, I got the gemelli pasta (also made in-house) with garlic, olive oil, and cherry tomatoes. I could eat this dish every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. It is simple, light, and bursting with authentic flavor. My husband had the braised beef, which was quite honestly the best I've ever had. It fell apart with the touch of a fork and melted in my mouth. Other people at our table got the tortelloni, parsnip soup, and tahini Caesar salad, and all were flavorful with good portion sizes. Dessert consisted of a genuine boozy tiramisu, apple galette, and a lemony ice cream made in-house. Not a crumb was left. We left feeling sated and happy. This restaurant has a very lively vibe and is a welcome addition to North Yarmouth. The cocktails were really good. The wait staff was friendly but not too responsive. A second glass of wine took 20 minutes and after asking about it, she said "I know! " and then delivered it immediately! Never delivered salt which the chicken piccata needed. Too busy?‍. Food was generally good but uneven. The focaccia was fantastic. Lasagna was great. Fresh pasta is a winner. The chicken piccata gets many kudos for being made with a chicken thigh which has so much more flavor and better texture, but the dish tasted like a chicken stew, with a flour based gravy. No sign of the classic lemon or wine flavor, and no browning of the chicken. The lively vibe, is unfortunately due to the unabated noise. It is impossible to have a conversation, and in fact, the waitress commented that she couldn't hear orders or requests. A little sound abatement is really necessary. This is a new restaurant and if they make an effort, they can work out the kinks, to make it all it can be. read more

We will definitely try Vesta again. There are still a few bumps in the system-- especially around service which is cheerful but a little haphazard. The renovation has created a really welcoming place (the hand forged beer taps are a nice decorative touch). The reservation confirmation process is a little haphazard-- for example, had they checked, we would have known our hosts had made a reservation for five not four as we thought, but the move was accomplished quickly and cheerfully once they arrived. The cocktails are great. It would be really nice if they added a sugar free lemonade or other special drink for the many people who have to be careful. The sourdough focaccia is light and airy with a nice crunchy crust. Each Roman suppli (rice ball) is very roughly the size of a tennis ball, rather than a golf ball the way Sicilian arancini are often served. It sits in a pool of tomato sauce that could be a little bigger because it complements the suppli so nicely. The pizzas are roughly rectangular in shape-- one could serve two nicely especially if they split the very generous Tahini Caesar (an interesting take that I enjoyed because I'm very fond of Tahini). The light sourdough crust, sauce and pepperoni were a yummy combination. As for the pastas, the kitchen is going to have to decide to warm up the plates before serving the pasta--which we always do at home for this very reason. We had the rigatoni and the gemelli and the pasta were barely lukewarm when they got to the table--unsurprising since the plate was ice cold. When our host asked about that a few minutes later, he was told brightly 'Well, I brought them over as soon as they were up. Would you like some parmesan?' Likewise, they should automatically offer parmesan on the side when the order is taken-- by the time the proffered parmesan showed up (the server had stopped to take another table's orders), everyone's pasta was nearly gone and by that point, very cold. The pasta dishes were done so well, they would have truly shone had they been served warm and the cheese delivered right away. Two people opted for the cookie and ice cream. The cookie was perfect. The ice cream tasted more like marscapone than vanilla, but it seemed to disappear quickly regardless. It's a great addition to North Yarmouth. The pizza alone will bring us back.
