Vesta is definitely a place to visit and enjoy. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. I could only eat half and got another lunch the next day. Staff are very friendly and helpful. While the menu is limited, there is enough variety for everyone to find something. They also have a very unique wine list, which will bring us back to try more of the list.

My teenage daughter enjoyed the rigatoni so much it inspired her to try to replicate at home tonight and she made us dinner. It was very good! If a teenager can get inspired by the food...it must be good

Vesta has something really special going on, and I really think (and hope!) they're going to thrive. Our recent dinner was almost perfect, which says a lot considering they haven't been open for long. We never visited the restaurant that was here before, so this was our first time in the space, and wow, it's gorgeous. Cozy, romantic, and beautifully decorated. Every detail felt intentional, and it really elevated the whole experience. The menu leans Italian with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences woven throughout. Such a great mix, and it led to us wanting to try everything. Focaccia next to tabbouleh salad? Yes, please. Even picking drinks was tough. They have a solid (and affordable) cocktail list, but we stuck with wine. It wasn't the best bottle, but for $40, no major complaints. For apps, we went with the suppli (their take on arancini), focaccia, and parsnip soup. The suppli was a steal at $3 each, perfectly cooked and generous in size. So glad we got two, because they were too good to share. The focaccia, on the other hand, was a letdown. I didn't necessarily expect it warm, but in Maine, "room temp" basically means cold, which wasn't ideal. The parsnip soup was phenomenal. Then came the entrees, and things got interesting. We debated pizza vs. pasta and went with pasta. My husband asked about portions and mentioned he was really hungry. He was between the rigatoni and the tortelloni, and the server really hyped up the tortelloni... so he went with that. When it arrived, we were shocked. Seven pieces. Not particularly big ones, either. Yes, it was delicious, but for $27, it didn't feel like it was worth it. The whole dish was a little odd, sitting in a soupy sauce that didn't really know what it wanted to be. Meanwhile, my chicken piccata was fantastic and the total opposite experience. Great portion size, flavorful, and I even shared some with my still-hungry-after-seven-pieces husband... We had the apple pie and ice cream for dessert, which was pretty good. Service was great, and overall, we had an awesome dinner. Would we come back? Absolutely. The menu concept is great, and for the quality, it felt like a good value (except for the tortelloni). With a bottle of wine, tax, and a 20% tip, we spent $150 for two, which we thought was really fair. Next time, we're going for the pizza... or I might just get that chicken piccata again. It was that good.

Delicious food, friendly atmosphere, kind waitstaff. I know this restaurant is newer but they have figured out everything. The rigatoni was sensational!

The bar is clean, modern and the machines are fun. It was great to be able to get small servings of different wines and then a larger serving when you found something you like. But I found the wine servings to be expensive for the wines they were offering, and the selection had a limited variety that did not cover most of the wines that I prefer. So, I am still looking for the perfect wine bar in Portland.

I think Angoor's sweet spot is going to be with: a) people…read morewho know nothing about wine but are curious about learning more, b) people who know they like wine but don't want to spend money on full bottles to find their favorite, when a place like this offers "sample" sizes, c) longtime locals looking for something novel, d) bachelorette parties, e) corporate day trips, f) tourists staying at the very nearby Residence Inn. THE SPACE I agree with other reviewers both on Yelp and other platforms (sometimes we think what's being said here is isolated, when it's not): it's an immaculate space, yes, but also very sterile. There's no character or charm or distinct personality atmospherically: it's a white room with white marble tables and seven mini silver "kegoraters" (for lack of a better explanation) that dispense the wines. THE MENU When I visited, all the wines offered were listed on a packet of stapled together 8x11 papers (that had been previously written on by other customers): the font was tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny and there was SO MUCH information to read about each one. I wonder if there's a more pithy way to share this because it's overwhelming as is - I would think especially to people new to wine. THE EXPERIENCE When you arrive you hand over your credit card and you are given a wine card. Walk up to any of the dispensers, tap your wine card on the machine (there's a little sensor on the left hand side by the first screen of the machine), then select the size pour you want (2, 4, or 6 oz) from the screen above the wine you want. The wine comes out *VERY* quickly after you make your decision, so make sure your wine glass is under the nozzle it needs to be. When you're finished, walk up to the counter, hand them the wine card, and they'll charge the credit card you gave them!

We already have some excellent local Asian restaurants but we don't have too many places, serving upscale bistro and pub food in an attractive setting. As this was our first time here, our server, Joshua, Was especially helpful and attentive in beverage and menu selections. And he did a really nice job of trying that all of the dishes came out at the right time in the right order, which isn't done often enough. Joshua highly recommended the falafel and I join him in that recommendation. The switch to lentils is the base made an exceptionally light but tasty version of a wonderful favorite. The mug, fish and cabbage dish was delicious, though maybe a bit larger certain of lentils, maybe with a bit more spice, would've made this dish even better . The risotto with crab was delicious, but the crab was lost in the dish, so it probably would be better as a crabcake or as a amount of crab meat on top of the risotto. And normally addition to risotto are made at the very end anyway, so this makes sense to get the most out of the crab. We had several glasses of wine, with generous pours; the Sancerre was exceptionally good and paired well with everyone's dishes. There are some excellent local beers on top as well for those who want beer rather than wine. One of our group had some of the oysters and said that they were extremely fresh and delicious - they were local from Brunswick (Mere Point). The desserts and after dinner drinks looked good, but we were full enough that we'll wait until another visit to do that.

The food is good, the service is friendly...except for some teenagers who need a little more customer service training, but they are young and haven't been coached enough yet. For example...the teenage hostess, before even saying hello, good evening, welcome, asked us if we had a reservation, without a shred of a smile. We said no, and she walked us to a table, at which time we decided to sit at the bar for better view of the outside space, and slightly further from the live music. Keep in mind there is no air conditioning. The evening we went it was hot. We sat at the bar, and the sun was to my back through the open garage doors. It was so beautiful, and although there were fans, they didn't do much to cool it off. I love the heat so I didn't mind. I really like the vibe here...very casual, beautiful rustic setting. I will definitely be back on another beautiful summer evening.
