They are already lifting enough where I know they are going to pop off soon. It has only been four days since my manicure.I believe they were so slammed that the nail technician rushed through them and did a v sloppy job. I come here for a no frills "treat myself" experience. I don't always get my nails done but when I do, I want them done well and quickly. The staff here are great and know what they're doing. I recently came for a pedicure and got their "spa" treatment which included the massage and foot scrub. I came in with gel nails on my toes and they took those off right away without damaging my nails. The massage chair is always a delight and I always feel like I can come disconnect for a bit. Came here after the remodeling and this is definitely my new favorite nail place! They went above and beyond with their care and the service was exceptional. The place was very clean, the chairs were new, and the massage chairs were new as well. There is a massive variety of colors as well. I got a manicure and pedicure, it was fantastic. Don't come here. When I got my nails done they were rude criticizing my natural nails & didn't get a water or anything. But more than that, it was expensive and my acrylics manicure and pedicure only lasted one week. Like what?? I've never had this happen before - usually they last 3 weeks bare minimum 2 weeks. I went there for dip nail mani and regular pedi. My dip manicure was done so roughly that my fingers were hurting! It definitely wasn't a relaxing experience! And guess what! I paid $50 for the dip and they cracked in 5 days! I've never had such a terrible experience with dip. I'm not going back there again. And they charged me $40 for a pedicure which wasn't even done well. They said that I got the "spa pedicure". They never asked me if I wanted a spa pedicure or a regular one! I had came into this shop twice in the last year as a walk-in asking for a full gel set with design. On both occasions I was rushed out the chair and received no design on my nails. I showed my nail tech a photo of the design, they agreed that they can do it and still made no attempt whatsoever. This recent occurrence really set me off because I asked for a white line with a triangle on my ring fingers and the nail tech got up and left. The nails were pretty good quality but it doesn't hurt to make an actual attempt rather than rush me to the register. I didn't ask for anything elaborate. Was here recently for a regular pedi and gel mani on my first "treat yo self" day in many months. My poor hands have really taken a beating this winter and I was thrilled at the chance to take care of them. On the whole, the quality of both mani and pedi is outstanding, and I am hopeful they will last for a while. I was a walk in at about 3pm on a Thursday, and the gentleman who took care of everything had outstanding attention to detail--my nails look flawless. He wasn't especially chatty, which was fine because I'm often told my nails are too short and I do get a bit self conscious about it. This spot is clearly a favorite with the local grand dames and grandmas of Cleveland Park, as there were several in there at the same time. My only feedback is about the cost. I'd taken out $60 in cash because most nail salons will only accept payment that way, and was then impressed to see that one can pay by card here. I expected the total service to be $40-50, as that's what I have paid at other salons in the area (where I imagine salon rent is equally high, if not worse). When I got to the till, my total bill was $73. I wish the cost pf services was listed visibly upon entering the shop, because this bill was certainly higher than I expected. I had to go back to the ATM to get more cash, since I wasn't allowed to split the bill between cash and card. Just an unnecessary frustration that slightly soured an otherwise lovely experience. read more

My toe bled after they cut too far into the corner of my big toe nail. They managed to stop the bleeding, applied antiseptic and a band-aid. I'm going to a Podiatrist to pack cotton under the nail to lift it in hopes of avoiding an ingrown nail. The doctor advises it doesn't always work. read more

I specifically asked how much a spa pedicure would be and what it included. I was told $40 including callus removal and a 10 minute massage. I agreed but asked for 20 minutes massage instead of 10. I've been a customer off and on since they opened years ago. They're definitely not as good as they used to be. When they're good, they're really good. And that's usually during the off hours. Likewise, when they're bad, they're really bad. I personally wouldn't advise coming here after 4pm on a weekday or anytime on a weekend as the quality, price, and service simply don't match up because they're trying to fit in as many walk-ins as possible. Even when you have an appointment during these times it's a let down. Should you find yourself free, on say a Monday at 2pm, they're fantastic. When I do come here I stick with the pedis as they're let me down too many times to count with manis. One random thing that really weirds me out here is their choice of tv programming. Whenever I'm here they seem to have "Bizarre Foods" on their tvs. I don't want to watch people eating grasshoppers when I'm relaxing and trying to get my pedi on! I would go somewhere else. After being charged for 90+$ for a gel pedi, French mani, the owner/manager was rude and unapologetic. She blamed the uneven nails, unfinished French tips on the nail polish. The technician didn't know how to remove my gel and the entire service took 2.5 hours. I informed the manager who first didn't acknowledge the poor work and then just said to come back to get it fixed. There was no acknowledgment. She refused to let me leave a tip through venmo and then later slapped down the clipboard on its back where there was a QR code to pay to. Technicians are in short supply and they are always learning. I understand that. I will never tip less than what the service is for its hard work but for the owner to take 90+$ from a customer, get 20$ tip for her technician and does not know how to apologize that the customer didn't like the work done. This is beyond Me. The last time I went to the place, I had the male technician. In between removing my gel polish, he was going out to smoke. And the gel was too thick and didn't last more than a week. Customer service is dismal. Go across the street or the one upstairs of the 7/11 or to the one in VanNess. read more

I also knew I didn't want to be overcharged for nail services (I had been spoiled in my hometown; $25 for a full set). Anywho, I walk in and I'm immediately noticed (granted, it was a Thursday afternoon). I am greeted and seated by Lonnie, who ended up doing my nails. I wanted acrylics no gel and I wanted them short. She then asked if I'd like to try a new product that would protect my nails from the damage of acrylics. She said same price but for whatever reason, I stuck to what I wanted. She didn't break skin or make me hurt or anything and even offered me water. She even trimmed my cuticles for me and everything. I called ahead and asked for an appointment at 4pm. I ended up finishing my previous plans a little earlier and was available a little after 3pm so I went in early to see if they could take me. Big mistake. They were quite busy and told me I would have to wait 30 min. Ugh, ok. So I'm waiting, and I'm pregnant, and within a few minutes my nose begins to burn because this place is so terribly ventilated. After about 25 minutes of being in this place I'm feeling dizzy and my fetus is kicking me. Some people come in and say they have an appointment for 3:30p and they're seen almost immediately. Ummmmmmm ... okay, no worries. I did come in early and it is mother's day :-/ I've been waiting for almost 30 minutes now and I'm either getting used to the fumes or all of my smelling senses have been dulled/killed. I'm high as a kite but damn it, I've waited so long that I am determined to get my nails done and so help me, it better be good! It is now 3:43 pm. I am approaching my original appt time and there are still no seats available because they have taken people instead of me. I've waited almost 45 minutes. I ask the manager how much longer it will be. I let him know that I had an appointment for 4pm bit I came in early and have been waiting for 45 minutes. How much longer will it be? I guess he doesn't speak or understand English very well because he calls another woman to speak to me. I tell her the same and ask how much longer. I tell her that I'm pregnant (7 months to be exact) and I can't sit in here all day because of the poor ventilation. She says okay and then sits down and starts doing someone else's nails (!!!) Um, ok. So I call up Nail Avenue in Van Ness and ask if they're busy, Tina ( my sweet sweet Tina) answers and asks what I'm getting. I tell her, she says ok, come now. I hop on a train from Cleveland to Van Ness without so much as a word to the dolts at toe tally and within 15 minutes I'm in a chair soaking my poor swollen pregnant feet at Nail Avenue, where the door is open and a million fans are on properly ventilating the area. I CAN BREATHE!!! Air, beautiful clean non toxic air! I am happy, my fetus is happy and my nails look awesome! This is why I love Nail Avenue. So much for trying something new. Worst nail experience! This salon does not disinfect their tools and that should be a no-brainer for anyone. I had little nail experience at the time and didn't know any better. A good salon uses disinfected tools for each new client. I got nail fungus from this salon!!! At first I was wowed by the new interior, bright and clean. Regardless of their nice exterior or their staff, they turned my healthy strong natural nails into acrylic nails without asking me!!!! Yes without asking me! That's probably hard to believe but I never had acrylics and the woman didn't speak any English. When i began to wonder what all the chemical fumes were and the long procedure involved I could not get an answer from her and turned to the receptionist who spoke some broken English "she give something make you nails last rrrrrrong time". The salon that explained to me that they gave me acrylics was Salon Loule near Dupont, on 18th St, they were SO helpful - Rosinda also explained to me that Tally should have taken the acrylics off by soaking the bonds in a special solution so you can wipe it off after it softened. Needless to day, Tally had ripped the acrylic straight off my nail in a painful process, leaving nothing but toilet paperthin nails. My nails are permanently damaged until a healthy nail will possibly grow back in a few months but it may not. My hands hurt for days after that ordeal. Please don't go to Tally Nails, you probably end up with nail fungus and your nail bed ripped to shreds. It doesn't get any worse. read more

I only stop in here when the wait is too long at other places or if it's cold out and I don't want to walk too far in my flip flops. I really need to get over my laziness because this place isn't very good. I haven't gotten a foot fungus or anything nasty like that here, but it's just one of those salons that does the bare minimum with so-so results, so I always leave feeling disappointed. Case in point: Last time I was in there was right before Christmas break. I get in, get seated right away and of course have to ask them to turn up the temperature of the water because it was that awful lukewarm temp that feels dirty. It remained an unresolved issue sadly. It wasn't very busy, but started to pick up as the man was trimming my nails. As a result, he sped through the best part (massage and lotion) in a record one minute and rushed through everything else. Look man, I'm about to spend a week with family and would love even just three minutes of relaxation before I go. It was not to be. I was here over the weekend, and the salon was very busy. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I made an appointment and my technician was ready within 10 minutes of my appointment time which I appreciated. Also on the big plus side, I asked for nail art upon arrival rather than when making the appointment and was accommodated. Both pedicure and manicure felt rushed but the manicure looks great, another plus. Apart from the rushing, there were two negatives, first, my toes were sprayed, wrapped and socks and shoes put back on my feet before the polish was dry so I now have a marbled effect I was not looking for (haha). My bigger concern was that I saw a nail technician taking tools that they had just been using and putting them into one of those blue paper pouches that I thought implied sterilization, and seal it. I did not see her use them with another client, so best case scenario this was just her way of storing but...yikes. A second technician was coughing and sneezing while folding towels without gloves. All could be fine, but it made me wonder whether I would return due to sanitation concerns. read more
