I've been hunting for a new salon since my former nail tech moved to a salon in Virginia. I came here for an almond shaped full set with design. Tom was my nail tech and my appointment started right on time which was really appreciated, I hate waiting. My acrylics came out really nice with the perfect shape and not too thick and I really appreciated how attentive to detail he was. They have a great polish selection which I really liked, and the space is clean and comfortable. So happy with how my nails came out! I would ask about the fees before you decide what you want. They charge additional fees for more than one color, for any shape other than square, and nail design per nail. I'm not used to being charged for colors so was surprised about that one, but it wasn't too excessive so I'll come back and just ask for a price quote before I sit down.

THIS IS THE BEST NAIL SALON EVER!!!!! My roommate and I have been coming here for well over a year exclusively, and every single time, I receive the same, fantastic service. It's incredibly clean, quiet, fast, whilst still offering a high attention to detail. The staff is welcoming, kind, and always a pleasure to visit.

I love Henry, he does such a great job. He takes his time with my manicure and pedicure. The salon is clean, everyone is friendly.

This is THE BEST place to get your nails done in DC. I have tried so many other salons and keep coming back to EM Nails. The owners are thoughtful, kind, welcoming and are always up for my design ideas. They will help you pick a color and style that works for you especially if you have an inspiration photo. I love EM nails and you will too - make an appointment (or walk-in they always make it work so you're not wasting time). You won't regret it!

Pink and white ombré dip sns. Dip is usually $45 but I got the pink and white ombré so that was extra $15.

Awesome nail salon. Practice major social distancing, I was 1 of 3 customers in there. They have 3 staff working in the salon. They offer water to their customers, they're very polite and understanding and accommodating. I got gel pedi and sns (dip powder) pink and white ombré mani, it totaled out to be $110 before tip. No idea if they take tips/payment through digital transaction but I gave tips in cash (I happen to have cash on me which is rare) and paid using credit card for the nails.

I've been coming here since Thanksgiving and I tried to overlook the sub-par quality because the service is good but today was the last straw. I'm already in there to get my nail fixed because it broke less than a week after I got them done, and of course a white woman walks in WITHOUT A MASK ON and the manager says nothing but "pick a color and have a seat." To make matters worse, this woman comes well within 6 feet of me to hang her coat as if she couldn't put the coat ANYWHERE ELSE in the salon. I am livid and will never be returning to this establishment. I'm disappointed and expect better during a pandemic.

This place had great service, great pricing, and my nails came out just like the picture I showed them, I love the results! I would 10/10 recommend

My nail tech did such an amazing job! Took my Pinterest dream and turned it into a reality. Such a happy design to look down at during the middle of this gloomy pandemic. If you're looking for a spot to engage in top notch self care, look no further than this hidden gem on Connecticut Ave!

I recently moved back to DC after living in northern CA for the last 6 years. I was excited there was a nail salon that I could walk to from our house. Unfortunately it looks like I'm a one and done with this salon. First in the midst of my hot stone massage, the nail tech got up TWICE to hug some elderly clientele that hadn't been in in awhile. I'm not sure why this couldn't have waited (she did the nails of the one woman after me). No apologies, no extra time either. It was as I wasn't as important as the retuning customer (note... I have two elementary aged daughters who love pedicures so that's three clients lost) I don't recall seeing her ever put a top coat on (see pics for reasons), then she told me to sit there 15 or 20 minutes. I'm used to fans. I've been getting pedicures for years - 15 yrs in DC prior to our 6 years in CA) and have always had a fan but none here. After 20+ minutes I pulled my own pant legs down and took off the toes spacers. She rushes over and shoved my feet into my shoes. I'm used to nail salons trying not to mess up the polish. As you can see in my pic I have not taken my shoes off yet but this is SO not worth the $65 I paid. Stay away if you are a new customer.

This place is great! When I walked in I was immediately greeted and seated. Helen is who does my sns manicure and she is the BEST! She takes her time to do the most amazing job each and every time. She is patient, kind and always strives to keep her customers happy. I will only come here for my manicures.

I walked up to the door and it was locked (I think only on Sundays), after re-reading my email about using some code to unlock the door I tried to use the key pad it ended up dialing for someone. As I was calling the office, Tyler my masseuse walked out to open the door. He was very polite and friendly. He led me to the office to fill out a form. I used the bathroom quickly it was small but they really tried to make it nice for customers. I also asked if the facial that came with the package, could be skipped since I didnt want to wipe off the makeup he was flexible about replacing that with a longer massage. My massage included hot stone but there was not quite a prepared flow instead he focused on the problematic areas that I pointed out in the form. I also told him that I pulled the area below my shoulder blade the night before he suggested to massage the psoas which was overworked because I use the pilates reformer everyday. He took some time to massage and relax the area. After the massage the remaining soreness around the shoulder blade was eliminated. I enjoyed their innovative focus on muscles that were not traditionally massaged or paid attention to. The masseuse was knowledgeable, patient and listened to customer's needs. I would definitely go back again.

I contacted The Spa Room on the same day I purchased the Groupon and was told by Mary they didn't have any weekend availability, and asked if I would like to come in during the week instead. I again reiterated I purchased a weekend slot, and Mary replied that if I didn't want to come in during the week, I should contact Groupon and cancel. I pointed out that the weekend deal was still available on Groupon, and she stated something to the effect 'that's Groupon's problem, not mine' After several email trying to work something out, I contacted Groupon and let them know the circumstances and they refunded my money. The Groupon rep also stated they will be contacting the business to see what the issue is since the posting is still up for weekend classes, but obviously they are not able to deliver. After reading other reviews stating how bad the massage class is, I am glad I was able to get my money back!

phone convo with my mom as i drove to an appointment with chris:…read more MOM: what do you have planned for today? ME: big plans - i'm getting a massage and eating ice cream. MOM: ambitious. ME: i ran 10 miles yesterday. it's a wonder i am even sitting upright. MOM: [laughing.] ok, you get a pass. go get your kinks worked out. ME: um...poor choice of words, mom. we don't use that kind of talk b/c people invariably make the "happy ending" joke. MOM: [howling] oh! right! sorry. but, seriously, i hope you get a good massage. how'd you find the person anyway? isn't it weird / hard for a massage therapist to be the one on the table? ME: it can be. but chris is a teacher at the school, so i already know his work. and he's GOOD. i've gone to him for sessions before. MOM: ah. makes sense. so you'll get me an appointment with him when i come to visit? ME: yes, mom... it's true: 1 - is *is* hard to get on the table and receive a massage / find a practitioner you like when you are also a massage therapist. (i am.) 2 - full disclosure - chris is an instructor in the massage programl i attended, so i already knew him in another capacity [and was therefore confident in his abilities/getting on his table]. after i graduated from the massage program, i was anxious to try out a bunch of the teachers from the school now that i could be a client and not a student. chris was the first one i went to, and is the one i see most / continue to see now. i love his work, and his space is nice too.* the studio is convenient - just a couple blocks from the tenlytown metro stop (red line) on wisconsin - and quiet, in an old mixed-use building with other offices, wellness studios, a consignment shop, etc. chris is warm and welcoming, with a wonderful presence and even better hands. he does an intake to find out how you use your body on a regular basis, any past/present issues you may have (scars, injuries, conditions, etc), and what your needs/wants for the session are before starting. then, the magic happens. tennis elbow? runners knee? low back pain? tight hamstrings/glutes/calves? carpal tunnel syndrome? crick in your neck? achy shoulders/upper back? you name it, chris can get to it. let me tell you - while training for a 1/2 marathon i hobbled into the vortexnergy flow studio on more than one occasion, wondering if i'd ever walk upright and like a normal person again...but after an hour on chris' table, that's exactly what i did! he does a lot of sports massage so i tend to refer my runner / active / athletic friends for same, but he also does swedish massage and chair / seated massage. go see him for yourself; you won't be disappointed. that's coming from another massage therapist. and if that's not enough, i'll offer this extra tidbit: my mother is the absolute MOST pickiest person i know on planet earth- in general, but even more specifically, about massage. i - her child and a licensed massage therapist - am nervous to work on her! but as per our convo from the beginning of this review, i will send her to chris without reservation, when she comes to visit. he's that good. ------ *i believe he's moving to a new location soon, but it's still in DC and i'm sure his website and the yelp listing will be updated accordingly.

We had such a pleasant encounter with the receptionist, Nicole, from the moment we walked in and were placed with 2 masseuses who were top-tier and gifted with the art of touch. Our couples massage was beyond rejuvenating and serene for each of us and we were truly able to decompress (and leave a lot of muscle knots behind on the table)! We both left feeling SO much lighter, connected within our bodies and to each other, and grateful we accepted the offer to give Unwind another chance. I am so impressed with the level of intention and care that the owner, Antonio, has displayed in making sure that we were in the absolute best hands the second time around. He was very apologetic that we had an off day on our first visit and really turned things a total 180. It's evident that he is passionate about his business, is extremely detail-oriented (the decor is GORGEOUS!), and has strived to exceed the 5-star reputation his establishment deserves. In a world where self-care tends to be an afterthought or a treat, I'm feeling inspired to carve out time to visit Unwind Wellness on a regular basis. If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.
